Day 9 - A Character You Relate To. #bookstagramtogetherjune . The first character I relate to is Tori from Solitaire. I felt quite similar when I was in sixth form, and I know that Alice Oseman said that Tori was just a sad girl. But how she described her feelings was exactly how I feel when my depression hits hard. It was incredible to see it written down so spot on with how I feel. . The secondary charcter is Asra from Inkmistress because I too get distracted by cute people with dimples. . . . . . . #bookstagram #yabooks #bookstagramtogetherjune #solitaire #aliceoseman #inkmistress #audreycoulthurst #relatablecharacters

Day 44: Relatable Character Where do I begin? I started watching Boku no Hero Academia a couple months ago and I just fell in love with Deku. He's strong, caring, clever, super dorky, extremely stubborn, and loves his friends and I can't wait to cosplay this lovable nerd. He's everything I am and aspire to be so I hope I do him justice. —————————————————— #bnha #bokunoheroacademia #cosplans #relatablecharacter #50maniccosdays #50daysofcos #50daychallenge #deku #izukumidoriya

First thank you to share.
I think Elsa is a relatablecharacter to many people that has come with probles like ansiety... Other things i dont really know but that are there for many.
Shes the one i relate most in therms of... For many years i didnt know how to deal with people i didnt know, like outside my familly and even then i never really talk to many people, so her loneliness i feel. And the depresion ot carries.
Is not untill a few years afther seeing the movie that i started to change and be happier.
Why I Love Frozen
I first saw Disney’s hit animated film Frozen back in January of 2014, only a couple months after it came out. I had no social media at the time, so nothing had been spoiled for me and the experience of watching that film for the very first time has stayed with me for years.
I came away from the film with tears in my eyes and undying love for the story, the music, the characters and what they all meant to me.
It wasn’t until just recently that I really tried to figure out why I relate so much to Elsa out of all the Disney princess characters. I’ve always been bookish, so shouldn’t Belle be my favorite? I’ve been a tomboy my whole life, so should it be Mulan? Or perhaps it should be Aurora because that was the film I used to watch on repeat and I used to also watch the ballet with the same music for it. I love all the Disney princess films and for different reasons, but Frozen has been my favorite since the moment I saw it. But why?
Well, a few things you need to know about me. I’m the older sister in my family. One older brother, two younger sisters and a younger brother. My mom, the angel of my life and light of my world, has always been different from me, and for many years I struggled to find things we could bond on. And being a bit of a tomboy who still wanted to know and understand all the girly sparkly things my friends were interested in but I was apprehensive, I never really had anyone to show me that. I had no older sister to show me the ropes, and since I didn’t know what I was doing, I felt like I was letting my little sisters down all the time. Both of them are very different from me, very extroverted and very interested in all the pink, frilly things that I didn’t start to like until much later.
But I love those girls. With all my heart. But I didn’t know how to relate to them, how to truly talk to them and understand what they loved and why. I knew they looked up to me, and copied what I did and said, and I couldn’t figure out how to be the sister that I thought they needed or wanted. I worried that somehow I would do something that would lead them down a bad path, or maybe that they’d stop looking up to me one day.
Come 2014: I was in 9th grade and seriously struggling with self-esteem and friendships. I felt like I didn’t really have anyone I could talk to and I worried that I was neglecting very important and potentially strong relationships with my sisters. And I didn’t know how to fix that. January: I’m sitting in the Megaplex theatre near my home, gearing up to watch yet another Disney film. The story plays out, the songs are sung, the plot is twisted and the ending is beautiful. I wipe tears from my eyes and my new favorite character is Elsa, the anxiety-ridden, depressed older sister of a red-haired bundle of joy. I saw myself on that screen. I saw a blonde girl struggling to love herself in the same way she loved others, who had a sister that she so desperately wanted to be there for but didn’t know how; who pushed away the only person she had left because she didn’t want to hurt her any more than she already had. Who found that her sister loved and adored her anyway, and that learning things about each other didn’t scare the other away, that it brought them closer. Elsa showed me why I wanted to be an older sister, why I loved my younger sisters and why those relationships are now some of my most cherished.
As the years have passed, I have become best friends with my own red-haired bundle of joy, all through my own effort and the time I set aside to spend with her. Many late nights talking and trips to the mall and other places have filled our weekends. My youngest sister is finally old enough to really enjoy coming with us as well and it warms my heart to have all three of us in the car all at the same time.
Frozen has been my favorite Disney film for 5 years. I never really thought they’d actually make a sequel and now it’s only 9 months away. And I can’t wait to see Elsa and Anna again. I can’t wait to see their relationship, because I know what it will mirror. I will see myself and my sisters on that screen. That thought fills me with joy.
I decided to write this post because I know how many people out there dislike the Frozen film. It’s dumb, the songs are overplayed, it’s for little girls, blah blah blah. I know many people like this. Two of my best friends, my older brother and my cousin, have this opinion of the film and it breaks my heart. Because they don’t see what I see. And so one day I will sit them down and I will explain it to them. And perhaps one day I will actually tell my sisters all of this. I know they both love this film as well, but I doubt they love it for the same reason I do.
Frozen isn’t about breaking Disney tradition. It isn’t about magic or unexpected plot twists. It’s about the love that sisters have for each other. It’s ultimately about love, and that is a beautiful thing. It is what made me fall in love with it, and I hope it’s what you see. Because I know the importance of family. And Disney has taught me that so many times.
Thanks for listening. This was a long one, but I had fun writing it and it’s late, so it got really wordy. I hope you all love Frozen as much as I do. If not, please give it another chance, because a fantastic sequel is coming soon.
