They make doorstops that are integrated with the alarm system so they auto-disengage in the event of a fire.
At £100 each these are probably non-viable for houses but lots of workplaces have them. Most importantly their convenience removes the temptation for end-users to engineer defeat devices (doorstops).
remembering again the time I had one friend whose OCD included "interior doors can't be closed because what if there's a fire??" living with another friend whose triggers included "my door MUST be closed and locked or I'm Not Safe" and how many problems that caused
sometimes people just have competing needs. there's no one size fits all solution for anything.

My most unpopular F1 take is that even though there are barely any overtakes I actually love watching the Monaco race. Yeah I don't care that they go slower than they could and that there's a car procession most of the time, looking at all those twists and corners and the city around it is soooo pleasing to me
(It's even better if My Boy™️ is in front ofc)

I think it's kind of funny that since they take applications through their ticketing system, Flight Rising asks for your account username when you apply for a job there. I like to think they put just as much judgment on that as they do my resume. "Well, sure she's qualified, but her dragons are ugly so we'll have to pass."

research tips for electric train whump:
-INDUSTRIAL MAINTENANCE SOURCES ARE YOUR FRIEND! There’s not much stuff specifically about trains but basic concepts (maintenance and repair of AC or DC motors, transformers, rectifiers, other heavy electrical equipment) largely carry over from sources about elevators or substations. There’s a lot of good videos on youtube about these topics, look into stuff aimed at apprentice electricians or industrial maintenance, it will generally be more visual/metaphor and less math-heavy if you struggle with that.
-many “breakdowns” are actually due to power infrastructure issues- third rail and catenary wires have different problems and these further vary based on how old they are. Fixed-tension catenaries on the former Pennsylvania Railroad are a notorious issue. The more modern the line, the less weird stuff you’ll have, but much of the US, parts of the UK, and a number of spots in mainland Europe have more unusual and antiquated electrification systems. And this is also an issue with model trains between brands and eras!
-On a related note, pantograph designs have varied by time and place and have different advantages/disadvantages/issues. You even have times when they have a uniquely bad time with old catenaries, like old Comet EMUs specifically getting snarled in those constant-tension PRR catenaries
-Never underestimate how “dumb” and un-computery a lot of electric trains actually are, especially circa the 80s. “Toaster” isn’t even an inaccurate insult for older DC-motor trains, they literally brake using huge resistors that put out a ton of heat… like a giant toaster. And the really old, simple stuff tended to last a stupidly long time in service so you can 1000% wave off a 20s-era engine or EMU in the 80s.
-If you want some really easy ones that have actually happened before: connecting to too strong of a power source and getting FRIED, and having wires ripped out willy-nilly by techs not familiar with electric trains that don’t know what they’re doing. Weaponized incompetence with anything electrical checks out with how even a lot of train people know very little about it and don’t care.
-model trains also have a lot of beginner-friendly electrical info you can work from

My mama says I look lonely. “You got lonely eyes, Dallas Bravo,” she says. I guess I am, y’know? Sure, I got all my team, my brother just a drive away, but I still feel alone.
Like inside, I feel alone, like I haven’t got myself to be with. War, fightin’, shootin’ fixes that. It’s like there’s so many different me’s in me, me’s focused on every little thing, me’s takin’ it all in. It’s that rush, that energy from the fight.
Then we lose, and it goes away again. Then I’m alone again.
Well you know what? We ain’t gonna do that no more. We ain’t gonna loose no more. We’re gonna pick ourselves up, hold that win close to our inner us’s, and we’re gonna win every single damn draw this winter.
Merry Christmas, Excavation. Your streak is coal by the time we’re through.

what in the. see this is why it's a good thing that multiplayer videogames especially are about having fun & being yourself like what do you mean disguised spies automatically had the speed of the disguise's class & everyone's like yea if i wasn't always going for the scout disguise i'd kill myself right now. i'd be like haha can't catch Me out supposedly the extra slow or extra fast class >:) i am a harmless engineer
#something something like ah as scout you move fast & can be allll the way over there & your line of sight is above your Visible head#devastating. sure i Always could've looked these things up but i just like figured. don't disguise as heavy or scout; a plausible limitatio#i mean i guess i always did okay as spy b/c like in random lobbies there's just more chaos factor so like. no Your Je Ne Sais Quoi is off#even in terms of like ''why would xyz class being doing abc rn'' like who can say....i sure can't like#never knew the maps much less their Strategic Points for Whatevering. rarely tried being a Real Engineer like where do i put shit#or real demo like i don't want a team to think that role is covered. it is basically not. or a soldier even when i think that was like#recommended basic / beginner role. well i never figured out how to rocket jump reliably so jot that down#heavy pretty straightforward. medic i figured out soon enough you're Mostly supposed to support a heavy lol like okay if we need one#go figure i never seemed to do well as pyro; an alright scout probably like you really can have fun & be yourself zooming around like that;#sniper i was okayish too like yeah perhaps i can lurk & take out a heavy. or get into an intractible [the snipers are fightinnnng]#spy also okayish like again w/chaos on my side sure maybe i can sabotage turrets backstab a sniper heavy medic & cloak away....#but also all this like No special abilities or weapons. i don't even have the basics down lol. what is this link talking abt trickstabbing#are they not all trickstabs lol....apparently not exactly. i am discerning it is the art of [spy backstab] plus Juking#so i guess anything but the theoretical standard Surprise Approach. ''that know they are a spy'' ''in difficult situations''#ppl listing off a bunch of Named Trickstab Maneuvers lmfao talk about kill me. good thing videogames are about having fun & being yourself#also that i couldn't play tf2 now if i wanted to. which eh i kinda do b/c the whole time it Was like yeah this'll be a mess but haha whee#again good thing that ppl theoretically can now though? vs whatever peak ''so matches are overrun w/bot players'' times#why was that a thing at all. something something Items okay. alright back at things i Can do after another Looking Stuff Up tangent#prior geological eras into Big Events on that scale into Large Insects into lol giant water bug i.e. weird but in charge of the nighttime#i'm just still arm slung around tf2 like a smissmas miracle despite it all for sure#& it really even is that rare Games I've Actually Played Myself Ever....it really is....#hey what in the disguised enemy spies can be healed too? & like for real not just Appearing to be? what a menace lmao
