Line Upon Line Lesson 056: God Almighty

Exodus 6:3 - And God spoke to Moses and said to him: “I am the Lord. I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as God Almighty, but by My name Lord I was not known to them.

God referred to Himself by two different names in this verse.  He first calls Himself Jehovah (or Yahweh)  The second name God calls Himself is “El Shaddai,” which means “God Almighty.”  What was God trying to tell Moses in this verse?

Let’s read together Genesis 17:1; 28:3; 35:11; 43:14; and 48:3.

When Abraham was ninety-nine years old, God renewed His covenant with Abraham.  When Isaac sent away Jacob, he reminded Jacob of God’s covenant promise to Abraham and his descendants.  When Jacob blessed Joseph’s sons, he recounted to Joseph how God blessed him in Canaan.  In all these passages, God is referred to as El Shaddai.

Let’s read together Genesis 15:7; 22:14; and 28:13.

God revealed to Himself as Jehovah to Abraham and Jacob.  So what did God mean when He said He appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as El Shaddai, but His name Jehovah was not known to them?

Let’s read together Exodus 3:13-14; Deuteronomy 4:39; Job 11:7; Ezekiel 10:5; and Revelation 4:8.

The patriarchs knew God as the Almighty God who was their Creator.  He provided for their needs and delivered them from great trials in their lives.  No matter how weak they felt, God had more than enough power to carry them forward.   Moses also personally experienced that aspect of God.

The difference between the patriarchs and Moses is that Moses would see the beginning of the fulfillment of God’s covenant promise.  Moses and the children of Israel would see firsthand the power of a God who is like no other being in the universe.  They would see a God who keeps His promises.  They would experience miracles no one has ever seen before.  They would see a God who encourages them to be in a relationship with Him.  They would experience an aspect of God the patriarchs did not fully comprehend.

Friend, remember we serve an Almighty God who wishes to have a close relationship with us.  He is both our Creator and Deliverer.

John wrote the book of Revelation to encourage Christians being heavily persecuted by the Roman emperor Domitian. Approximately 25 years earlier Rome had destroyed Jerusalem and taken away Christians’ rights. Many believers were beginning to wonder, Where is Jesus? Is He still Lord? So John’s main purpose in writing this book was to remind believers that Jesus Christ was alive, and He was and would continue to be the same loving, all-powerful Son of God.

We also can be encouraged by remembering who Jesus is. Revelation 1:5 reminds us that He is the faithful witness, which means we can rely on every single thing He says. And not only are His words true, but according to John 14:6, He Himself is the truth. In other words, if He says He will do something, we can trust that it will happen. And that includes not only His statement that life on earth isn’t all there is, but also that He will be with us forever (1 Thessalonians 4:17).

We know Jesus’ words are trustworthy because He conquered death through the cross and His resurrection, preparing the way for all who trust Him. If you’re unsure whether Jesus is alive and active in your life, remember what lengths He went to in order to keep His word.”

Resident Evil 6 is the worst RE game experience that I've ever had. Here are all the reasons that I believe this true based on my experience with the game.

There's a cutscene like once every two minute. It's excessive. This is a game, not a movie.

There are a lot of QTEs

The game doesn't look, feel or play like any kind of horror game.

The characters are so over the top in how they act that it's hard to take any of the seriously.

You have to zoom in to even shoot one of your guns, otherwise you'll just trigger melee attacks.

General aiming is so slow too. Like it's slow to aim and move from target to target and that is not good, especially for the amount of fast moving enemies in the game.

The sniper rifles have such and over the top and unrealistic amount of scope sway that it makes sniper rifles unusable.

The camera is god awful. Some characters have the camera set in a way to be over the left shoulder and yes, you can change it, but if you open a two person door or transition out of a cutscene, the camera will reset back to over the left shoulder which is annoying. There's so much camera shake when sprinting that it makes it hard to run in a straight line. The camera is also 98% responsible for the fact that an escape sequence in the 5th chapter of Chris's campaign is impossible as the camera keeps changing position and angle so frequently that I get stuck on walls and fail so much that I skipped this and never finished that campaign.

Not a fan of the skill point system because this system affects how much and what kind of ammo drops from enemies and that is annoying.

The escape sequences just suck in general. The one in chapter 5 of Chris's campaign is the worst but the snowmobile one in Jake & Sherry's campaign was also infuriating too. I don't know why these require so much precision to not fail but they do and it's stupid and I hate those sections.

I've played a total 6 RE games, seven if you count this one, and none of those games have come close to the piss poor experience of a game as RE6 has shown me to be, not even Revelations 2. I would definitely NOT recommend this game to anyone, even if you're a fan of the franchise.

in sa2 shadow learns to give humanity a second chance, that there are people on earth that don't deserve to suffer the same pain he did. In heroes he gains a posse of others like him that stand by him even if he may not even be the original of him. In shth he has allies that help him during an ALIEN INVASION and in sonic 06 he is defended by rouge after learning that even after all shadow's given and changed, humanity still wants to punish shadow for some yet unknown reason, and this angers rouge so much so that she argues against the truth even though she knows it could be true. And Omega isn't exactly happy to tell Shadow that he'd be the one imprisoning him. Shadow isn't happy seeing his offline team member surrounded by rubble and fire in a far off future where everything's gone wrong.

Shadow was created to live FOREVER. He was created to help somebody who couldn't help herself and he was loved. Shadow sacrificed himself for the fate of the future of Earth after learning that its worth protecting. He died so others could live. He then took his unexpected second chance at life to fight against the same evils as he did before, even if he can't remember them. If Shadow's writing was treated with the same care and love for the character that I know his original incarnation in Sa2 had, we'd be seeing a kid who was a very hurt and traumatized hedgehog heal and tear down the walls he's built. It doesn't mean that he becomes a completely kind and perfect person who never does anything wrong, absolutely nobody in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise is like that, but he grows. We've seen evidence that he is not difficult to get along with, he is, at his core, somebody who wants to do good things for the better of others, someone who wants to protect others (even people he doesn't even know), and that he cares.

It may be very silly to be so passionate about a set of characters who's writing changes every game/comic run/show, but it is also frustrating that the arc of a character can be so badly burned and shredded up that it's treated like it never existed in the first place.
