We need to talk about Echo (and by talk I mean screm). S3 E13 + 14 Spoilers!
Tumblr media
FRIENDS, I'M GOING TO EXPLODE. I need to talk about Echo for a minute. We need to talk about Echo for a minute,  because he has spent the last two episodes in the absolute thralls of complete and total danger, and I personally don't feel like there's been enough of a celebratory uproar for me to be satisfied with the level of appreciation and love that man deserves. (Remember when Hunter ran face first into a colossal exhaust pipe and we all collectively lost our minds because it was so impressive and so sexy? Remember when Tech drove a speeder really fast through a tunnel and we all fainted? I'M A TECH GIRLY. IT WAS ME! I FAINTED!!) but, Y'ALL, Echo deserves that right now!! And for all eternity!!! Because he is wholly submurged in the harrowing potential of torture and execution, and he didn't even bat an eye to put himself there. My awe of him is all-consuming, so please forgive me if this rant reads as nothing but incoherent screaming.
Echo haters (first of all, we can't be friends....) come on this journey with me! Let's back pedal to the beginning of the last episode (13). He stole an imperial shuttle. Let me repeat, he stole an imperial shuttle. And not just an attack shuttle. Not just a lil one-pilot transport. Bro somehow stole a Rho-class medical transport, which is very large, obscenely conspicuous, and very easily tracked. And, to use his own words, it was "the best he could do on short notice." The man stole a shuttle on short notice. ON SHORT NOTICE? HELLO, HOW DID HE DO THAT. WHY AIN'T WE LOSING OUR COOL ABOUT IT.
Next stop on this I-love-Echo journey through my mind: not only did he provide his brothers transportation in the complete void of their own (RIP havoc bb), but he also came equipped with intel and clearance codes, and, as Rampart stated, those things change DAILY. Echo somehow procured top secret imperial clearance codes, and a fkn SHIP, within hours of the Batch requesting his help. Not to mention, the ship had yet to be reported missing (which means it was only-freshly commandeered), and the clearance codes worked. Of course they did. Echo never fails. Never doubt Echo. "Echo's on it."
Choochoo, next stop! Once they arrived on that station orbiting Coruscant, and made their way to the control room (lookin sexy as heck in his armour-au-noir), he broke imperial encryption, hacked into the Imperial database, almost instantly found them the location of a ship departing for the prison that holds their daughter Tantiss, AND THEN DIDN'T EVEN HESITATE TO CLIMB ABOARD AND STOW AWAY.
He didn't even remotely have a plan, or have time to make a plan. He didn't know who or what else would be on board that mysterious vessel. He didn't know where it was going other than the name of the fkn mountain (which has proven to be nothing but unhelpful thus far). He just ARC-troopered his way through that crowded hangar, dodging aggressive astromech's and inconsiderate loader droids, shirking from the perspective eyes of highly trained commandos, and snuck his way onto a heavily guarded, extremely unknown science vessel. Then, of course, he wasted no time, hacking into the ships control system (may I gently remind- there were at least three pilots and an officer prepping the ship for jump and closely watching all aspects of its controls), disabling the proximity sensors without being detected, and then seamlessly covered the troopers absence by pretending to be him (which we all know is what should have happened on Serenno but... hindsight is 20/20.)
So... SO.... now we're at Episode 14. Here we at fkn terrified station because HULLO ECHO IS ALONE ON A SCIENCE DIVISION TRANSPORT; we have literally seen them carry around Zilo beasts in that shit. What the heck else could be on there that they don't know about? Literally anything. Because THEY KNEW NOTHING before attaching themselves to it. Echo knew NOTHING before sneaking onto that thing and creepin' around. Thank heck he didnt come across a fkn fresh wave of slither vines ok?
NEXT, Echo shoots (not stuns- lol) a sassy fkn droid (they had it coming, not sorry), then another trooper. AND THEN discovered his only option for departing the ship once it enters atmosphere is going completely undercover, because (in true "we improvise everything" CF99 fashion that gives me heart burn just thinking about it), they had zero fkn plan to get off the ship. I will repeat: completely undercover. On Tantiss. COMPLETELY UNDERCOVER ON TANTISS. NO COMMS, NO BACK UP, NO RECON, NO PLAN, BARELY ANY GEAR, and I would just like to stress... no neuro brace. He left his neurobrace on that ship. Left it. LEFT IT AND TOOK A HAND INSTEAD. PLEASE FKN SEDATE ME.
We can't leave this station yet... This I-love-Echo train needs to linger at this point for a sec because I think it's lost on some people how wild this is. Echo without his neurobrace is huge. It's a bigger deal than Echo without his armour. Armour is, in the grand scheme of things, inconsequential (one can find more- see Howzer). Echo's neurobrace is not armour, it's a computer and it's so so so crucial to how his mind processes information and events. Don't forget, the Technounion HIJACKED HIS BRAIN. They took every memory from him and manipulated it for their gain. Pruned it, tweaked it, blanched it, poached it, turned it into scrambled eggs, and then fkn ate it up and used it to defeat their enemies (Echo's family- I'm sobbing). They implanted him with an unfathomable amount of information; they changed the way the neurons in his brain fire in relation to stimuli. That neurobrace is so so critical for him. Now, we know he can operate well enough without it, we saw it in the last episode of the TBB arc in season 7 of Clone Wars, but... please.... to what extent? We don't know what an extended time without that neurobrace looks like for him... especially when all other aspects compliing his surroundings foreign, unknown, and dangerous, and that scares me.
AND NOW HE'S ABOUT TO RUN AMOK IN TANTISS with Emerie who, (I'm sorry) is wishy-washy as heck (who are you loyal to!!!!! What is your history!!! Are you trustworthy and what are you looking to gain!!!), trying to adopt a collection of Jedi children whove spent maker-knows how long playing space tetris, WHILST ALSO ATTEMPTING TO LOCATE AND ESCAPE WITH HIS BROTHERS UNDER THE EYE OF THE GALAXY'S SECOND MOST DANGEROUS MAN.
So yes, short of d-d-d-di... can't say it... short of THE WORST CASE, Echo has made the ultimate sacrifice to save not only Omega who is literally the only person we've seen able to make him truly laugh, but all the clone brothers that he's been desperately trying to locate and rescue. His bravery and determination are literally unrivalled, and he did it while feasting on nothing but humble pie because that man wouldn't know arrogance if it danced naked under his perfect nose.
Okay so welcome, we've finally pulled into I-Love-Echo station. Before departing the ride, please stand and do a hip hip hurray for the miracle that is Echo, including but not limited to, everything he's done, is doing, and is willing to do for other people.

I have been LOVING the new Bad Batch season (and it looks GORGEOUS). I have just been having complete brain rot over all of these clones!!! Spoilers under the cut!!
This season has really made me appreciate Crosshair SO MUCH! It was great to see returning faces (Chuchi! Wolffe! HOWZER!!).
Some random spoilers/thoughts for the newest episodes:
I’m just thinking about how poor Echo left Teth feeling pretty good about himself. He gave his kid a new toy that she’s pretty psyched about, he’s going to pick up Gregor, their insurgency is growing, Fireball is making some kick ass soup….
….and then he comes back, and like EVERYONE IS DEAD, their hide out is destroyed and they’re all on the run again, and he didn’t get any spicy soup!!
Tumblr media
Why do they HAVE TO NAME ALL THESE CLONES!!! I already get attached and then they TAKE THEM AWAY! Aaaaand Hunter…he is/was my favorite of the Bad Batch, but the writers kinda forget about his “enhanced abilities/sensing electromagnetism field” A LOT. Maybe if he offhandedly said, the current stress was messing with his senses or one of his brothers startles him by just walking up behind him and he’s like: “later I can’t seem to sense anything around me…” or something like that!
Like, he doesn’t hear/sense Sniper CloneX2 AT ALL (Crosshair actually sees him TWICE before Hunter), the RHO-Class Transport Shuttles (Batcher senses them before he does), the troopers coming up the stairs…
Tumblr media
I mean, Batcher has pretty much taken over his “enhanced senses” roll and Crosshair has bonded SUPER well with Omega (I barely categorize him as the grumpy Uncle anymore, he’s more like the begrudging Papa now). I wonder if all the sudden bonding with Crosshair and Omega is foreshadowing just the two of them and Batcher surviving….
….but I’m sure everyone totally will live, and AND Tech is actually still definitely alive on Eriadu camping out and trying to contact Phee/his brothers to pick him up…..
Tumblr media
Then there is that theory that Sniper CloneX2 is Tech…I could see that, maybe it’s Cody (I’m less certain); I’m starting to think that it is a Clone that has been enchanted to have many of the Bad Batche’s powers or a clone similar to that of Crosshair…

Chapter 18
As the team briefed on the planet Bora Vio, Rampart made it well known he wasn't happy.
"Why are we even on this blasted planet? Couldn't we just have that pirate take us somewhere else?" Rampart said, his frustration evident in his voice.
"I can put him to sleep," Beka suggested, offering a solution to their predicament.
"Unfortunately, we need him to talk," Hunter grumbled, acknowledging the necessity of their current course of action.
"What are we waiting for?!" Rampart spouted, his impatience growing by the second.
"I can sit on you if you don't stop complaining," Gruno stared down at the little man, his tone carrying a hint of annoyance at Rampart's constant complaints.
"He... he wouldn't dare," Rampart said, his voice trembling with a mixture of fear and defiance.
"Keep complaining; I want him to squash your head," Crosshair said, his tone dripping with hopeful satisfaction.
"I second that," Jetto added, nodding in agreement with Crosshair's sentiment.
"Enough, all of you!" Hunter yelled, his authoritative voice cutting through the tension in the room.
"Hunter, I know that you're worried about Omega, but you aren't the only one who is worried right now," Beka said, pointing at Seneca, who was holding her sides as she looked out into the distance, her concern palpable.
"I've had about enough of your childish antics!" Rampart yelled at the team, his frustration reaching a boiling point.
"That's it! I will send you back to that Imperial labor camp if you don't shut up!" Hunter ordered, his patience wearing thin.
"You need me, remember?" Rampart said, trying to assert his importance to the team.
"Beka should have scrambled your mind until it was nothing but gel," Seneca sneered, her disdain for Rampart evident in her voice as she looked back at him.
"We'll be free from you once we get the coordinates for Tantiss. After that, we don't care what happens to you," Hunter said, his determination clear.
"Who or what are we even waiting for?" Rampart asked, his curiosity piqued as he sought answers amidst the chaos.
The sound of a shuttle approaching gave him his answer. A Rho-class transport shuttle, to be exact. Its ominous presence loomed over them, a stark reminder of the Empire's relentless pursuit. Rampart's jaw tightened with resolve as he prepared for the inevitable confrontation, knowing that their window of opportunity was rapidly closing. The bay doors opened to reveal the sleek vessel within.
"Echo!" Jetto smiled. "Nice ship."
"Thanks, had to steal it, so sorry it's not fancy," Echo explained, with a hint of apology in his voice, acknowledging the necessity of their actions.
"I could have bought us a nice ship," Jazzori added, a touch of regret evident in his tone.
"We needed to not be traced, Jazzori," Jetto said, emphasizing the importance of discretion.
"And a stolen one won't draw attention?" Crosshair added, raising a valid point.
"Technically yes, but considering short notice, we do need to move fast," Tech added, offering a practical perspective.
"Everything we need will be onboard," Echo said, instilling confidence in the team. Everyone started boarding the ship. Echo put a hand on Hunter to stop him for a second. "Can we actually trust Rampart?"
Hunter looked at Rampart, then looked at Beka, who returned his gaze with a silent reassurance. Her face said nothing, but her eyes conveyed a message, "Trust yourself."
"No, but we need him," Hunter said firmly, acknowledging the uncomfortable truth.
Echo sighed, a weight of resignation settling upon him. As they all boarded and took their seats, Seneca, a natural pilot, sat beside Echo.
"Uh, that's usually where I..." began Tech, interrupted by Seneca's outburst.
"My kids have been taken, we're taking in a total chizk here, do you really want to test me right now, Tech?!" Seneca yelled, her frustration boiling over.
"Carry on, Commander," Tech said with Sprig, hiding behind his legs.
"Start talking, now," Wrecker said, his tone leaving no room for argument, as Jetto and Gruno stood behind him, ready to enforce his command if necessary.
"I don't know where Tantiss is; Hemlock kept it classified," Rampart said sheepishly, his reluctance evident in his demeanor.
"But?" Beka said, her gaze piercing as she stood over Rampart menacingly, demanding answers.
"You can get the coordinates from Imperial Station 003. There they will be transmitted the information to your ship," Rampart said in a cowardly manner, shifting uncomfortably under Beka's scrutiny.
"I know Imperial Station 003 exists, but he better be telling the truth about the information," Echo said, his skepticism evident in his tone.
"I looked into his mind; he's telling the truth," Beka confirmed, her Jedi abilities providing clarity amidst the deception.
"This is why I'm having headaches?! You Jedi can't understand the words 'personal intrusive'?" Rampart complained, frustration evident in his voice as he attempted to deflect blame.
"We could find a ship that's going to Tantiss," Jazzori suggested, offering an alternative course of action.
"We would need clearance codes," Crosshair added, highlighting a potential obstacle.
"I got that covered," Echo said confidently.
"They change them every rotation," Rampart remarked.
"This Imperial station, it orbits Coruscant?" Jetto asked, seeking clarification on their mission parameters.
"Yes, that means we have to be fast and stealthy," Hunter confirmed, his tone leaving no room for doubt.
Jetto turned around and started trying to reach Valree, but there was nothing but static, adding another layer of uncertainty to their already precarious situation.
Meanwhile, on Tantiss, Valree started snooping around the base, her movements cautious as she sought any possible way to reach Omega and the boys, her determination driving her forward despite the risks. Valree crouched behind a stack of crates, her heart pounding in her chest as she surveyed the chaos unfolding around her. The Tantiss base was overrun with stormtroopers, their white armor a stark contrast against the darkened corridors. She needed to get in contact with her team, but every attempt was met with interference or the risk of being discovered. As she cautiously made her way through the labyrinthine passages of the base, Valree kept her senses sharp, her keen eyes scanning for any sign of danger. She knew she couldn't afford to be caught by the Empire's forces. Ducking into a maintenance alcove, Valree retrieved her comlink, fingers trembling slightly as she attempted to establish a connection. Static greeted her efforts, frustration building with each failed attempt. The something seemed to disrupt the signal, making communication nearly impossible. With a frustrated sigh, Valree pocketed her comlink and pressed on, determined to find a solution.
Back on the ship, Hunter and Crosshair meticulously went over the plan three times with Rampart, ensuring every detail was understood and accounted for.
"You will be impersonating an Imperial officer; we will go in as clone guards," Hunter explained, his voice steady and commanding.
Echo tossed Rampart an Imperial uniform, prompting a reaction from the disgruntled former ViceAdmiral.
"It says captain on it!" Rampart exclaimed, his frustration evident.
"So?" Echo retorted, his tone unyielding.
"I was a Vice Admiral."
"You've been demoted."
"I hate clones."
"We're exiting hyperspace," Seneca called from the cockpit, interrupting the exchange and signaling their imminent arrival.
Jetto had just finished stripping the designs and colors off Crosshair, Hunter, and his armor, leaving them black and bare, a necessary measure to blend in seamlessly with their surroundings. "Best I could do," Jetto sighed, resigning himself to the limitations of their current situation as he replaced his helmet.
As the shuttle approached Imperial Station 003, Rampart reluctantly donned a Captain's uniform while the clones disguised themselves as Imperial commandos, their preparations complete as they braced for the challenges ahead.
"We need a landing clearance," Technician requested their identification, initiating the next phase of their mission.
Echo responded, "We are transport shuttle Alpha-44," transmitting their landing codes with practiced precision.
"You are all clear to land," the technician confirmed, granting them clearance to Docking Bay 5-02, a crucial step towards their objective. After terminating communications, Hunter issued a stark reminder, emphasizing the need for swift action in the face of impending scrutiny.
"Will I be released after this?" Rampart demanded an assurance, seeking reassurance amidst the uncertainty of their alliance.
"You will have to trust us," Crosshair responded, his words carrying the weight of their collective resolve.
"Be careful," Wrecker cautioned, his concern for his comrades evident in his gruff voice.
"Tech, Wrecker, keep the comms open. Beka and Seneca, be on watch out. Gruno and Jazzori, be a distraction if needed," Hunter instructed, assigning roles with meticulous attention to detail. Then, he turned to Sprig, acknowledging the droid's importance in their mission.
"You, little guy, we might need your help," Hunter said, recognizing Sprig's unique capabilities.
Sprig looked at Beka, seeking confirmation in her unwavering gaze, before beeping in affirmations of doubt, "I need you trust him. He is someone I trust with my life, and I trust to keep safe." Beka said. With a final word of encouragement from Beka, the droid followed Hunter. "Hunter." Beka called. Hunter turned to Beka, "Be careful."
Hunter nodded before the bay doors closed, a silent acknowledgment of his feelings towards Beka.
"I should be out there tearing these guys limb from limb!" Seneca groaned, her frustration bubbling to the surface as she longed to take direct action.
"Seneca, I understand you're angry, but don't let your anger cloud you; we need a clear head right now," Beka said, her voice calm and steady, offering guidance and support in the face of Seneca's righteous fury.
Outside, a bearded Imperial officer confronted the group, his gaze sharp as he scrutinized their presence. "You there!" he barked, his voice commanding attention. "Your shuttle is not on the docking manifest for today. What division do you belong to?"
Rampart stepped forward, his demeanor oozing with false confidence. "These soldiers are from my division," he asserted, his tone authoritative. "Our orders are classified. If you doubt me, check with Governor Wilhuff Tarkin."
The Lieutenant hesitated, clearly unsure, but ultimately backed down, offering a begrudging apology, "Sorry sir." As they walked out of sight.
Rampart smirked triumphantly. "I missed this," he muttered under his breath before leading the Bad Batch and Jetto inside. In a dimly lit corridor, the group navigated past several TK stormtroopers, their presence a reminder of the Empire's iron grip. They also passed by an MSE series mouse droid and another droid, their movements seemingly inconspicuous amidst the bustling activity. Approaching the control room, guarded by two stoic stormtroopers, Rampart sprang into action, his words laced with thinly veiled threats. "Report to the barracks for further orders," he commanded, his tone brooking no argument. "Violating Article 15 of Imperial Standing Order 10 is not something you want to risk."
The five made it to the control room. Rampart wasted no time, his request for the station's manifest met with suspicion by an Imperial weapons technician. Sensing the tension escalating, Hunter intervened swiftly, stunning the technician with precision. Echo wasted no time, utilizing his cybernetic scomp link to access the computer, his fingers dancing across the interface with practiced efficiency. Jetto kept watch for more troopers if they were to head their way.
Meanwhile, back at the hangar, the Lieutenant approached Wrecker and Tech, his demeanor wary as he questioned an inconsistency in the shuttle's manifest. Wrecker, ever the tactician, led him inside the shuttle's cargo hold, his actions swift as he incapacitated the Lieutenant, ensuring their infiltration remained undetected. Though a few more troopers approached, Beka and Seneca incapacitated them using the force.
While Echo and Sprig accessed the computer, Wrecker updated the clones about the Imperial lieutenant via comlink, "Uh we kind drawn some attention." His voice crisp and clear amidst the static of the transmission.
"Hang in there, Wrecker, we almost got it." Echo said.
"Jazzori is distracting them but she can only do so much." Tech explained.
"And so, as you see why I'm on this station is because I was assigned to see what equipment needs the proper funds." Jazzori said as she tried to divert the guards away from the shuttle.
"We're losing time." Beka panicked.
Echo's fingers flew across the keyboard as he processed the information, his focus unwavering despite the mounting pressure. "Got it," Echo confirmed, his voice steady as he relayed his findings to the team.
Hunter's brow furrowed in thought as he considered their next move. "We need those coordinates," he stated firmly, his determination evident.
Echo glanced up from the computer, his expression thoughtful. "There's a science vessel docked in Bay 8, scheduled to depart for Tantiss soon," he reported, his tone tinged with uncertainty.
Crosshair interjected, his skepticism palpable. "That means we won't be able to pull the coordinates once it launches," he pointed out, his voice laced with frustration.
Rampart shrugged nonchalantly. "I don't take an interest in such technical details," he admitted, his indifference clear.
Hunter's gaze hardened as he formulated a plan. "We board the science vessel," he declared, his voice resolute. "Echo, you disable the proximity sensors once you're aboard. We'll hitch a ride to Tantiss."
Rampart protested, "Are you mad?" His objections falling on deaf ears as Hunter silenced any dissent.
"Plans change," Crosshair remarked bluntly, his tone leaving no room for argument.
"I hate to barer of bad news, but we got imperials and troopers heading in our direction." Jetto warned holding up his blaster riffle.
"Let's go, everyone move, move." Hunter ordered.
Back at Tantiss Base, the children played among one another, their laughter echoing faintly through the corridors. Isaac stood guard, a protective presence as he shielded Lon from the probing eyes of the doctors who came in to do bloodwork on them. Meanwhile, Omega moved among the group, offering words of comfort and reassurance to the frightened children, her gentle touch a balm to their troubled spirits. In the midst of uncertainty and fear, they found solace in each other's company, united by a bond forged in adversity.
At the Imperial space station, Echo infiltrated the Imperial science vessel's hangar, his movements calculated and precise as he slipped past the stormtroopers boarding the ship. Every step was measured, every shadow a potential hiding spot as he navigated the bustling hangar with silent determination. Suddenly, he was startled by Sprig's presence, the droid appearing seemingly out of nowhere. "What are you doing here? You need to be with Hunter," Echo whispered urgently, his voice barely audible over the din of activity. Sprig beeped in embarrassment, its spherical frame quivering slightly. "Just stay close," Echo ordered, his tone firm yet reassuring as he gestured for the droid to follow him. In the midst of the chaos, they had to rely on stealth and cunning to achieve their objectives, their every move shrouded in secrecy as they worked to outmaneuver the Empire's watchful gaze. Inside the science vessel, Lieutenant Novitz ordered his crew to initiate the launch sequence, the hum of machinery filling the air as they prepared for departure.
Back on their shuttle, Hunter, Crosshair, Jetto, and Rampart prepared for the next phase of their mission, their resolve unwavering as they awaited Echo's signal.
"Where's Sprig?" Beka asked, her concern evident in her voice.
Jetto looked around, scanning the cramped confines of the shuttle. "He must be with Echo," he replied.
"We have to get him," Beka insisted, her determination unwavering.
"He's with Echo, and we have little time at the moment," Crosshair interjected, his tone firm as he emphasized the urgency of their situation.
"Jazzori." Jetto called. Jazzori excused herself from the guards and made it back onto the ship.
Just then, Echo's voice crackled over the comms, cutting through the tension like a knife. His tone was urgent, his instructions clear. "Disabling the proximity sensors," he explained, his words a call to action that spurred the team into motion. With their mission hanging in the balance, there was no time to waste as they prepared to execute their daring plan. As the stolen shuttle tailed the science vessel, the tension reached its peak.
The crew of the science vessel alerts their captain to abnormal droid activity detected in the rear of the ship. As the team and Rampart anxiously await Echo's signal to disable the proximity sensors, Echo swiftly incapacitates a stormtrooper who ventures to investigate the suspicious activity. With the path momentarily cleared, Echo signals to the team, granting approval to proceed with their plan.
As the team strapped in, Rampart expressed, "Abort the mission."
Hunter on the other hand, remained resolute in his determination to press forward. As Crosshair and Wrecker restrain Rampart, Seneca and Tech assumes control of the situation, taking the helm of the shuttle. Echo swiftly disables the proximity sensors, buying precious time for the other clones to attach the shuttle to the science vessel's hull before it makes the jump into hyperspace. With Echo's signal, Seneca seized control, her hands steady as she guided their shuttle into position.
"Abort the mission." Rampart broke from his Wrecker and Crosshair, demanding they listen to him.
"Negative." Hunter replied.
With a final burst of speed, the shuttle attached itself to the science vessel, their journey to Tantiss set in motion as they jumped into hyperspace, leaving behind the Imperial space station in their wake.

Fives – Soldier Boy 12 - What Lies Ahead
Tumblr media
Fives x fem!Reader FF
Warning: Tension/Angst/Hurt/Comfort/Fluff/Slightly Suggestive

Leaving the planet proves to be not so easy. What lies ahead for you and Fives is uncertain. Fives needs you now more than ever.

Part 10 - We Need A Medic
Part 11 - Live To Fight Another Day
Part 12 - What Lies Ahead

Everything had been arranged. Fives and you just had to reach the shuttle, then you could leave the planet and you could take Fives to safety, out of the reach of the Republic, at least for now.
You just crossed the small landing pad together not far behind the motel you had been in, moving toward the shuttle. Fives had pulled the hood of his robe low over his face and was walking behind you.
It was a strangely exciting feeling that the roles were reversed for once, that you were protecting him instead of him protecting you. But of course you hoped it wouldn't last, that Fives would soon be able to breathe again.
The shuttle was ready, a member of your uncle's staff wordlessly handed you an envelope and nodded to you before moving away and leaving the shuttle to you. A Rho-class transport shuttle. As far as you knew these were converted Nu class, fliers. It was hyperspace capable and had more than enough room for both of you.
Hastily, you stepped onto the shuttle's ramp as a voice called out behind you, "Fives."
Fives stopped automatically and you cursed inwardly, he shouldn't have responded. You slowly turned around and saw, Skywalker and Rex standing in the middle of the landing pad.
Your heart skipped a beat. You had almost made it, and the Jedi was throwing a wrench in your plans.
"Get inside," you murmured to Fives.
He looked at you uncertainly, squinting over his shoulder at Skywalker.
"You know your General can't help you now, we discussed this whole thing, Fives," you said gently but urgently.
"Fives, come on, let's get this thing settled so everything can get back to normal, you need help," Skywalker spoke.
You stepped between the two and said somberly, "With all due respect Master Jedi, he's already getting that."
Rex now raised his voice and said, "But that's not how it works, Fives is a Republic soldier, if he goes with you now he's a deserter"
"But he's alive" you snapped back "If he goes with you he won't live long, you both know that as well as I do. There is something rotten here, yes, but it is not Fives"
Skywalker sighed "your emotions are clouding your judgement"
"You're one to talk. What does Padme actually say about all this? Perhaps you'd better have a word with Senator Amidala, she's already in the know about the situation"
You could see Skywalker look startled for a moment, then annoyed. But finally he sighed.
"Let him go Rex"
"But sir?!"
"Do you trust me?" asked Skywalker.
Rex frowned, "Of course sir, with my life and the lives of my brothers who serve under me"
"Then let them go"
Rex pocketed the blaster and looked sadly as well as critically to the ramp.
"Take care brother" he said nodding to Fives "I hope you know what you are doing".
Fives chuckled "No not necessarily, but that's why I have her".
Tumblr media
When the ramp closed and the shuttle lifted off, Skywalker and Captain Rex were still standing on the landing pad watching the shuttle.
Rex asked, "Are we going to have them intercept?"
The General shook his head, "No we won't. I need to talk to Padme."
"What's going on?" asked Rex, irritated.
Skywalker turned with a sigh and walked off, Rex following.
"Honestly I don't know Rex, but a gut feeling tells me there is a lot more to this than we are being allowed to see"
Rex blinked.
"What does that mean?"
"I intend to find out"
Tumblr media
As Fives and you sat in the cockpit and the lights of hyperspace appeared before you, you heard him sigh heavily and he slumped a little in his seat. Fives was dejected and tired, but when he saw you looking at him, he smiled bravely.
So much would change in the near future, for both of you. The new circumstances made you a little nervous, but you were absolutely convinced that Fives was worth all this and more. You would never let him down.
"The good thing is, we have a lot of time for each other right now," he said, grabbing your hand and pulling you over to sit on his lap. You put an arm around his shoulders, one hand rested on his cheek, and you looked deep into his tired, amber eyes.
"You should catch up on some sleep," you said, concerned.
Fives nodded slowly, but said, "In a minute, I'm still a little too shaken up to lie down right now, in my experience it only gives me nightmares."
"It's going to be okay, we just have to be patient. In any case, we have each other, I'll take care of you," you said softly.
Fives laughed softly and and kissed your chin.
"I love you, Y/N."
The words sounded so solemn.
Your heart warmed and you gently kissed his soft lips in response.
However, when you broke away from the kiss, he looked at you expectantly.
"Do you love me too?"
You blinked in surprise at the uncertainty that resonated in his words. Everything was changing for Fives at the moment, he was away from his brothers, away from his job, the one he had been cloned for, away from any routine, away from home. At the moment, all he had was you, and you realized he feared losing you too.
"Of course" you said smiling "You know that".
Five's eyes looked at you urgently.
"Then tell me, Cyare, tell me you love me" he said, his voice barely more than a hoarse whisper.
"I love you, Fives, more than anything, and that's why I'm here with you."
He sighed, barely able to hide the relief in the gesture.
Your hand gently brushed the stubble of his hair on his shaved head.
"Unfamiliar hmm?" he asked.
"A little" you admitted "But hair grows back, besides nothing can disfigure a beautiful person as they say"
He chuckled "You think I'm beautiful?"
"Absolutely!"
"How much time do we have in hyperspace?" he asked.
"Almost 12 hours, why?"
He put his arms around you and said, "Why don't you lie down with me in one of the bunks, I'm sure I'll sleep better if you're lying with me."
With a smile you nodded.
"But you really need to sleep" you said smiling.
"Maybe we'll have a little make out session first, it'll relax me" he said and teasingly kissed your neck.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch Episode 16 Easter Eggs Explained
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
This Star Wars: The Bad Batch article contains spoilers.
In the two-part finale of The Bad Batch, the Kaminoan cloning labs go down in fire and water. With no home left to lose, the clones scramble for survival. Alongside them is Crosshair, formerly eager to turn them over to the Empire. His decision provides the main emotional push of an episode that also shows the wreckage of an era. Take a look at all the Star Wars facts and references we spotted in this episode …
Kamino
– As the clones’ homeworld, Kamino is as special to them as Alderaan was to Princess Leia Organa. The water planet premiered in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, in which Obi-Wan Kenobi’s detective work lead him to the cloning labs.
– Despite their world being covered with water, the Kaminoans are not an aquatic species. Canonically, the planet’s oceans rose at some point in their distant history, forcing them to adapt with their domed and stilt-legged cities.

– Two water creatures appear in this episode, both of them formally unidentified for now. The manta ray-like animals that appear outside the window could be juvenile Aiwha, large versions of which carry Kaminoans on their backs in the movie. This is just speculation, however. – The sea monster that menaces the Bad Batch in the tunnels is a brand-new creature. It looks like it took design inspiration from a turtle, a manta ray, and/or Star Wars’ own craggy-faced rancor.
The Empire
– The Imperial emergency siren heard throughout the background of both finale episodes is a Star Wars staple, appearing from the Old Republic in Legends to the Death Star in the Original Trilogy. – The Imperial ships that opened fire on the labs are Venator-class Star Destroyers, a renaming of the Republic attack cruiser. Ironically, in the Republic era these ships were heavily associated with the Jedi, since they were usually flagships for Jedi generals. These ships are smaller than the Imperial-class Star Destroyer that followed them, completing the transition between the Prequel and Original eras to the iconic ships from A New Hope. – The brief glimpse of the Imperial base at the end of the episode includes the Rho-class transport shuttle. As is the case with the Empire transitioning over from Republic warships, this was also previously used by the Republic, primarily as a medical transport.
– The transport is accompanied by Alpha-3 Nimbus-class V-wing star fighters, the kind of ship often piloted by clones supporting a Jedi in a Jedi starfighter.
– As seen earlier in the season, some of the clones who joined the Empire have switched to armor that looks similar to the Republic Commandos from The Clone Wars and Legends. Republic Commando lore established a lot of what Legends fans knew about Mandalorian culture, as they were clones who were directly trained by Mandalorians.

Imperial Science Base
– The planet where Nala Se winds up at an Imperial base is a brand-new location.
– The scientist who welcomes her is a new character, credited as Medical Officer and voiced by Helen Sadler. Her costume provides some intriguing clues as to what her role might be. It’s similar to Dr. Pershing from The Mandalorian, who worked with the Imperial Remnant to try to extract blood from baby Grogu. It’s hard to tell whether the symbol on her uniform is the same as his, and she’s working almost thirty in-universe years before the time of The Mandalorian. But we do know that Nala Se was last working on a way to refresh the clones’ genetic material to possibly make more, as well as that she had been experimenting with making the changes to Jango Fett’s DNA that resulted in the Bad Batchers and Omega. Could this have something to do with what Dr. Pershing is working on a generation later? It’s certainly canon that Emperor Palpatine’s plans stretch that far.
