I love that Rhys and Fiona's outfits have similar vibes during the "present" time in tales from the borderlands.
I think there was a cut idea where they would have been working together to explain the similar outfits (I can't remember where I heard that so don't quote me on it), but since that didn't happen I prefer to think that it was Rhys subconsciously matching with Fiona because she was still on his mind after they got separated.
We see part of Fiona's outfit on a mannequin in the caravan during episode 1 and Rhys has the ability to scan it, so he definitely saw it.
And I like to think that even though he couldn't remember where he saw it the design stuck in his mind when he was getting his new outfit, something he couldn't quite remember but that felt comfortingly familiar and when he saw his own outfit on him, it just felt right for some reason.
And then he saw Fiona in her new outfit and had a moment of "oh fuck, that's where I got it from"

SPOILERS FOR ANTHONY BURCH'S NEW BOOK: Borderlands, Debt or Alive
**BORDERLANDS SPOILERS!!!!!**
Like, literally the biggest spoiler... Seriously, stay away.
You have been warned... Only read if you have read the book already.
Spoilers below:
Fiona confessing she has feelings for Rhys...
So, in this book, Rhysha is canon (which we've pretty much known since BL3). But I'm so glad they acknowledged that Rhyiona could've happened too. It's awesome but also kind of devastating—not just for the fans, but for Fiona too!
Oh my god, she’s literally in love with Rhys and has to watch her sister be indecisive and mess with his emotions. I can't imagine how frustrating and painful that must be for her. It really captures both Fiona's inner conflict and the heartbreak Rhyiona fans must be feeling.
Anthony Burch knows exactly how much people love both ships, and this moment really nails that feeling like you just lost something. It's so beautifully done.
Thank you Anthony Burch 🙏

I wonder what Loaderbot did to get Fiona to fall for his plan and get kidnapped.
I mean, we know he sent Rhys a fake message from Fiona to get him to show up, so I wonder if that's what he did to her as well. Sent a fake message from Rhys asking her to meet up and talk.
The idea that they both cared enough to go looking for each other even though they were both mad at each other is nice as it is, but what I think makes that idea even better is that Fiona VERY likely thought Rhys was dead but went anyway.
When Sasha shows up at the end of episode 5 and speaks to Rhys she's shocked to see him, saying that she believed Rhys was dead, and says "We looked for you, really we did." So I think it's fairly safe to assume Fiona thought the same as well. Which would mean that, if Loaderbot sent a fake message to Fiona pretending to be Rhys, that she went out looking for him despite thinking he was dead, and just hoping he wasn't. Just hoping that maybe it wasn't one of the many people they'd pissed off trying to trick her and finish the job. And she went out there and followed the message just to see if it really was him or not, alone, because if it was a trap she wouldn't want Sasha to get hurt just because she was sentimental enough to go out and look for Rhys.
Sure they were both mad at each other, and they both had their reasons but they did still care about each other, and no matter what kind of relationship you view them as having whether it's a friendship or romantic, it's a really nice detail of the found family the tales crew (especially Rhys and Fiona) have, that they can get mad at each other, fight, argue, whatever, and at the end of the day still be willing to risk the danger just to talk to the other again.
