[The Division Bell] [Pink Floyd] [1994] [CD] Pink Floyd have never had it easy, both with the "simple" listener and with the "professional" critics. An accusation that is always put in the room, that Pink Floyd copy themselves. An accusation that goes exactly in the other direction, that you move away too much from their roots. . This shows that all criticism is actually nonsense! Why should musicians not be allowed to copy themselves? And why should musicians not be allowed to deviate from their known line? . Another accusation is the band's perfectionism. Pink Floyd were already perfect in the 1970s, but here and there inconsistencies crept in, which gave the works a certain charm. On "The Division Bell" Pink Floyd play better and more perfect than ever. . It is a great disc on which the three remaining Pink Floyd members that they have not forgotten anything but have even become better. . The result is not a new prog rock album, nor a post psychadelic trip. The Division Bell is in contrast to the Work of the 1970s "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn", "A Saucerful Of Secrets", "More", "Ummagumma", "Atom Heart Mother", "Relics", "Meddle", "Obscured By Clouds", "The Dark Side of the Moon", "Wish You Were Here" or even "Animals" or “the Wal”l no masterpiece, The just listed extra ordinary masterpieces can neither be surpassed by Pink Floyd themselves let alone by anyone. "The Division Bell" is simply perfectly made and damn good rock music of the highest quality to be appreciated. If a completely unknown band had created "the Division Bell", then surely all extreme storms of enthusiasm would have broken out among the self proclaimed music experts - whoa, they sound as grandiose as Pink Floyd... . . . . .

[The Piper at the Gates of Dawn] [Pink Floyd] [1967] [LP] It's hard to believe that the release of Pink Floyd's debut album was 55 years ago yesterday. . I don't necessarily rate this debut album as one of Pink Floyd's best, but it is a very well-made solid psychedelic pop album which was also relatively successful. . "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" is a typical psychedelic pop album of the time with many creative ideas. However, there were many other bands besides the Beatles who made exactly this kind of music, some even better. I know, some Pink Floyd fans might want to stone me for this statement. But that's how I see or hear it. . In honour of Pink Floyd (which is one of my favourite bands after all!) I can name at least two titles that are outstanding. Perhaps you can already guess. Firstly, there is the brilliant "Astronomy Domine", which can also be found in an even better live version on the 1969 album "Ummagumma", and the wacky "Interstellar Overdrive". These two great pieces alone justify the existence of the whole album! I also find the tracks "Pow R. Toc H", "Take Up Thy Stethoscope and Walk" and "Chapter 24" particularly worth mentioning.

Era il 5 giugno del 1975, esattamente 48 anni fa.
Durante le sessioni di registrazione di Wish You Were Here,
i Pink Floyd ricevettero negli studi di Abbey Road la visita di uno strano personaggio, obeso, calvo e con l'aria stralunata.
Solo dopo diversi minuti David Gilmour riconobbe in quell'uomo Syd Barret,
il loro amico e compagno di band che si era perso nei meandri della sua stessa mente, del quale non avevano notizie da tempo e al quale stavano dedicando il loro album.
Nello stupore e nella commozione generale gli fecero ascoltare Shine On You Crazy Diamond,
