On Friday, the Georgia EPD granted permits to Twin Pines to strip-mine three miles from Okefenokee Swamp. This will be a "demonstration mine" of 600 acres digging out titanium dioxide, staurolite, and zircon. I cannot state how disappointed I am in my own state's environmental department to approve something so damaging to our natural wetland. The Okefenokee is the largest blackwater swamp in North America and one of the most endangered rivers in America. Hopefully, John Ossoff will block it again as he did back in 2022.
If you are looking for ways to help go ahead and check out 100miles.org and Georgia River Network.

Idea for a Steven Universe AU fic:
Pink Prince AU
Here’s how it goes:
During the gem war, sometime before what would have been Bismuth’s bubbling, Rose watches Pearl be shattered in the middle of a battle and is overwhelmed with rage. She lets go of every restraint she has imposed on herself since she lost her original pearl and unleashes her destructive powers on the opposing army, turning the tides of war in a matter of minutes, as well as shapeshifting back into Pink Diamond in the process. When Blue and Yellow Diamond come down to Earth to reprimand her, Pink, no longer feeling any sort of emotion towards them, attacks them too, bouncing off Yellow’s destabilizing attacks and shrugging off Blue’s emotional ones, calling them too weak in comparison to her own turmoil. She sends them both back to Homeworld, telling them that if they ever come back, they will be shattered.
After the battle, the Crystal Gems are divided, between a majority like Garnet and Bismuth, who feel betrayed by Pink’s lies and blame her for the death of Pearl (as well as many others), and a minority that decides to stay by her side, along side most of her court from Homeworld (who turned sides after the revelation) and the humans that survived the battle. Garnet and Bismuth lead their group to a place far away where they can start over, which would later be called Beach City. Meanwhile, in the time it took for Pink to grieve everything she had lost, the gems and humans that stayed started a kingdom around her and asked her to be their Queen, a position she accepts reluctantly.
Cut to 5,400 years later and Pink’s new kingdom is thriving. It’s rivers are overflowing with the Diamond’s lacrimal essence, which means it’s people have never seen a day of disease in their lives and the ground is the most fertile that the Earth has ever seen. The Queen’s close circle consists of a Zircon who serves as her political advisor, a Jasper who, once her deadliest enemy, is now her most loyal soldier and captain of the guard, as well as Jasper’s squire, the last Amethyst that the Prime Kindergarten ever produced.
One day, a musician rolls into town, a man by the name of Greg Universe. Usually, the thick forest that surrounds the kingdom (which Pink raised to prevent invading armies from reaching her kingdom (and being decimated by Jasper)) would only grant safe passage to her citizens, and yet Mr. Universe’s peaceful nature and harmonious melodies lead him straight to the gates, just as he runs out of gas. Without a gas station in sight, Greg has to stay put while his car is adapted to be solar powered, just like every other vehicle in the kingdom, and Pink takes the opportunity to get to know the outsider that her forest deemed worthy. Once it’s time for Greg to leave, he decides not to as he has already fallen in love with Pink. The two fall deeper in love every day they are together until finally, Pink gives up her physical form and the Pink Prince is born: Steven Universe.
As he grows up, Steven is trained by Jasper and Amethyst to be just as strong as his mother, while Zircon teaches him to be just as wise (she also serves as the kingdom’s regent until Steven is ready to take up the throne). During a history lesson, Zircon brings out a mirror that is meant to give the prince a visual aid. One thing leads to another and Steven releases a Lapis Lazuli that runs away and takes all of the kingdom’s water with her. Steven, Jasper, Amethyst, Zircon and Greg set out to recover their most precious resource and as they arrive at the water tower that Lapis has erected, the group realizes that they aren’t the only ones there. From the opposite direction, approach a Bismuth, a Ruby and a Sapphire.
After the Lapis situation is resolved, having learned of his mom’s past before the kingdom, Steven decides that the best way to become just as great a ruler as her is to learn about all facets of her life, even Rose Quartz. So he starts using the warp pad on a regular basis to visit the Crystal Gems, in Beach City.

BOOM.
BOOM.
Every impact sent a cascade of vibrations through the tube as Zircon clutched xir own body, squeezing xirself into the opposite wall as much as possible. Finally, a deafening CRASH blasted the glass to pieces, and Zircon jumped to xir feet. Corey stood before xir with a metal chair in her hands; sweat dripped down her forehead, her breaths still rapid and heavy with adrenaline, but she was smiling.
Her smile, with its ever-familiar visible tooth gap, was like a rush of fresh air, the sight of a wide open sky after the suffocating claustrophobia of the tube could not have brought that soaring feeling with it as xe leapt towards her, careful not to tread on the river of glittering broken glass that had formed between them.
“Sorry…I kept you waiting.”
A hoarse, breathy chuckle left her mouth. Her eyes, black like earth after a rainstorm, glinted with life even in the dead, artificial light of the facility.
“I, for one, think you came not a moment too late.”
Xe pushed a lock of dark, slightly damp springy hair out of her eyes and gently tucked it behind her ear, brushing her cheek as xe did so.
The chair clattered to the ground as xir lips met hers, xe felt her still racing heartbeat against xir chest: she was alive, she was here, and that was more than enough. Feeling her hand creep its way up to xir hair, xe let her lovingly run her fingers over and through every strand, not even having the heart to wince as a brush against xir sensitive antenna sent an uncomfortable tingle through their body. Even as they pulled apart, xe felt alive with warmth. They were together now, and that was the problem of anyone who dared try and separate them.

What Lies Beneath the Surface of the Ocean?
Scientists recently found a warty sea sponge and an octopus that is warty. Fostoria was a founding member of the group that eventually transformed into the stunningly top-skinned duckbill dinosaurs, which were popular throughout North America and Asia toward the end of dinosaur time. The Lost City of Atlantis The city of Atlantis is merely a legend, or as most scientists think. The mythical Atlantis of Plato's poems sank towards the end of the final Ice Age, when sea levels rose quickly. Researchers may have discovered the real Atlantis under the surface of the ocean of today. A study published April 23 in Quaternary Science Reviews reveals that a portion of the continental shelf near Australia used to be home to lakes, rivers, archipelagos and even a large ocean that was inland. The sunken area has been discovered to have tools made of stone, and research has shown that humans resided in this region. This research relies on the sonar mapping of a region that was exposed 70,000 yrs ago during the Pleistocene period in which sea levels fell due to glaciation. The modern Australian coastline used to connect the mainland of Australia with Papua New Guinea, Tasmania and Papua New Guinea. It was the home of a wide variety of animals and plants, including the duck-billed platypus - featured on the country's 20 cent coin--and the various species of echidna. The Earth's Crust In the case of Earth's evolution, rocks can provide clues. This is why scientists are thrilled about a new discovery discovered in the Western Australian region's Jack Hills. This 100,000-square-kilometer region holds a sliver of protocrust that's believed to date back four billion years, from the time when our planet transitioned from a hellish landscape to one capable of supporting life. Researchers have analyzed the tiny sliver of rock by using lasers to evaporate zircon particles and measure their light oxygen isotopic ratio. This is known as d18O. This isotopic variation reveals how hot the rock was at the time of its creation. The variations between different samples of zircon from different places can provide insight into local temperatures. The d18O results from the Australian zircon grains showed that the area was subjected to major changes in the climate around 4 billion years ago. The meteorite bombardment decreased, the crust stabilised, and life began to develop. When compared to other data shows that a number of regions of the world experienced similar timings for the formation of crust and preservation. A stunning New Species of Sea Creature A sea creature in pink swimming through a riverside Australian park was the initial clue. It was covered in a striped shell, a distinctive coloration, and appeared different from any of the other sea slugs in the area. The researchers conducted an analysis of DNA to determine the possibility of a new species. The Investigator team spotted a lot of other incredible creatures. There is a huge jellyfish-like siphonophore dubbed Apolemia that is floating in the ocean and hangs a curtain of tentacles with stings on its body. Small fish or crustaceans that swim in the tentacles get paralyzed before being pulled towards its body. Other discoveries of the Investigator include squat lobsters sporting knobby skeletons and deep-sea coral that glows when it's dark. There's also a fish known as a hermaphrodite fish, which has both male and female reproductive organs, but oddly it only has one set of reproductive organs at the same time. It's also known as the "Yoda fish" because its eyes look like the eyes of the Star Wars character. The first remains of a Tyrannosaurus That Stalked the Southern Hemisphere
youtube
Scientists have discovered evidence the first time of an tyrannosaur, or "tyrant-lizard" which was a common sight on the continents of the south of the planet. Scientists have found fossils of the tyrannosaur from the northern hemisphere. They thought they had never made it to the southern continents following the separation of continents. However, a distinct hip bone unearthed in Victoria, Australia, reveals the existence of a pint-sized predator dubbed Thanatotheristes degrootorum. Although just a quarter of the size of the legendary Tyrannosaurus rex, this reptile was a fierce hunter that lived in the region of 110 million years ago. Roger Benson of Cambridge University in England believes that tyrannosaurs of these sizes were all over the place in the beginning of Cretaceous. They could have even been the ancestors of T. Rex, which ruled the world until its disappearance 70 million years ago. These tiny tyrannosaurs may have eaten insects and lizards. But once they reached full growth they became the world's largest meat-eating creatures capable of consuming the bones of other dinosaurs. Watch the YouTube video

Ilmenite Market: Sustainable Solutions with Titanium Dioxide Photocatalysts
Decoding Ilmenite Industry: Exploring the economic and Environmental Impact Formation and Properties Ilmenite is a widespread titanium-iron oxide mineral with the chemical formula FeTiO3. It forms as a natural material from magmatic or hydrothermal processes. When lava or magma cools slowly, it will crystallizes and solidifies. Contact metamorphism of suitable rocks under mountain building processes can also result in new formation. It has a hexagonal crystal structure and usually forms black to steel-gray crystals. However, it can also appear in massive forms without distinct crystal shapes. It has a Mohs hardness of 5.5-6.5 and specific gravity in the range of 4.7-5. Its luster is typically submetallic. It is quite common in igneous and metamorphic rocks worldwide. Some of the notable ilmenite deposits are found in Australia, South Africa, Canada, Ukraine and India. Uses and Demand It is one of the most industrially useful ores as it is the chief ore of titanium. Around 60% of the global ilmenite production is utilized to manufacture titanium dioxide pigment. Titanium dioxide pigment has premium qualities like brightness, opacity and durability. It finds extensive applications in paints, plastics, paper, textiles, rubber and other industries. A major portion of the remaining ilmenite is processed to obtain titanium metal and titanium alloys. Titanium and its alloys have outstanding corrosion resistance and high strength to weight ratio. They are extensively used in aerospace, military, medical and other specialized applications. It is also a rich source of iron units that can be recovered as by-products during titanium processing. With rising global consumption of titanium dioxide pigment and increasing demand from high-tech industries, the market for ilmenite is steadily growing. Ilmenite production in most years over the last decade has been pegged at 6-7 million tonnes annually. Australia with its mineral sands deposits is the leading producer followed by South Africa and Canada. Countries like India, Ukraine, and Vietnam are also emerging as important players.
Beneficiation and Processing Raw ilmenite as mined contains other associated mineral impurities like silica, rutile, zircon, monazite apart from iron. Hence, it needs to be upgraded through various beneficiation methods before utilization. Commonly used beneficiation techniques include washing, magnetic separation, electrostatic separation, gravity separation etc. This upstream processing liberates the valuable residue from gangue minerals and improves its iron and titanium content. Washing deslimes and removes most of the silica impurities. Electrostatic separation exploits the difference in electrical conductivity between ilmenite and other minerals. Magnetic separation works on its magnetic properties to concentrate it.
The next stage involves metallurgical processing to recover titanium, iron units and produce value added products. Rotary kiln processes roasted concentrates at 1000-1200 °C to form synthetic rutile or titanium slag as intermediate products. These are then subject to chlorination or sulphate processes to yield pure titanium tetrachloride which upon hydrolysis produces titanium dioxide. Additional processing produces titanium metal, sponge and alloys. Environmental Concerns and Regulations Major environmental issues relate to land disturbance, dust generation, sedimentation of rivers during beneficiation plant operations. Toxic tailings and slag from processing plants require scientific disposal and management. Stringent regulations are in place worldwide to control emissions, effluents, dumping/storage of wastes from titanium industries. Environmental Impact Assessments and Cleaner Production plans are mandatory. Mining leases specify strict compliance on pollution control, site reclamation and biodiversity conservation measures. In many countries, public consultation is part of approval process for new projects. With growing environmental consciousness, the titanium sector emphasises on judicious resource utilisation, recycling, greener technologies and sustainability. Adoption of international standards on safety, health and environment protection will enable responsible mining and value addition of this important mineral resource for the long term. So in summary, ilmenite is a key industrial mineral with major applications in pigment and metal industries. Its deposits are widely distributed but selective countries dominate production. Beneficiation and metallurgical processing upgrades it into various economically valuable titanium compounds and alloys. Like all mining activities, this industry too needs to factor in environmental management for sustainable development.

SPCTЯMRTRTMPRLTY
Insights from a SPHXZ
𐂃༄༉༅༊༣༢༡ ᚹᛜ ᚱᛏᚺ
Google Translate Arabic has lately been teasing my nosy ass with these randomly discovered calligrams that proclaim to be nuclear weapons. Example:
ىة ي ن و ىه ا ىة ن قًز ينةم ىةنوًىة
‏Nuclear energy
It’s only now I realize it’s precede by a phonetic equivalent of “agape” so they’re adhering to the Christian principle of letting all that you do be done in love.
Or I was; I am that one who typed it. It’s really snarky and ironic that the rest of what I typed was sub Spanish for “is equal to that of the USA.” Started out as a post on water.
On the sly, wherever the programmers are located they said hey. We’ve got something equal to the United States too.
Time passed, things cooled down. And whatever this was became a little playful. And that’s what im going to show you.
This: ‏‎ىةيً نوى زرنقً ز ى ة ن وً ى ة
now translates as “this is a zircon nuclei”
An earlier version, below, is a credible enough guide, made proven by the end of this schpiel.
So, let’s get after it:
‎‏‎ىةيً نوى زرنقً ز ى ة ن وً ى ة
This is a blue nuclei
‎ز ى ة ن وً ى ة
identifiable reps of“Os”, and “Gu”.
Os is the old Norse word for their supreme God.
Gu is Chinese meaning “ancient,” though they referred to G-D as Shen.
then there’s “guo”, meaning “cross” in Chinese. A reference to Jesus?
Then there’s a second appearance of “Os” and a similar letter to “j” I can’t explain. Second coming?
Anyways here the numbers I got from attempting to recombine the digits.
‎ز ى ة ن وً ى ة
11, 28, 16, 25, 27, 28, 16
112, 81, 62 | 52, 72, 81
120, 162, 52 | 71, 81, 6
11, 28, 16 | 252, 72, 81
As you can see it took me a few tries.
Kept ending up with leftovers. Then i tried using the prompt as a guide.
Plenty of word play.
For example, subjectively the word “This” triggers Arabic “hisan” for me, meaning horse. I once had a paranormal experience resulting in a picture of a blue horse. So I knew to tally the values of the word “this” and plug ‘em in.
I came up with a working schedule.
R: 61
B: 81
G : 152
Key: 45
Cyan : 161
Magenta : 28
Yellow : 27
Ended up scrapping some of the colors because they altered the color harmfully once id reached the prespecified destination.
Life’s like that sometimes. Sometimes we have to scrap blind obedience in favor of balance and accord with earlier wishes and what we feel to be right rather than what we are told is right.
Anyways, here’s the hex code: #384a8c. It’s a beautiful hue of almost an indigo-blue, just like the translation said it’d be.

Well, thanks for reading. I’ll keep y’all update on more of the universe’s less-than-subtle cues.
I like to look up the Strong’s biblical concordance of the numbers there if things look right and they’re short enough.
However this works, I stemmed to slip into an oxbow of the internets winding river. Rearranging letters and came across this:

World Building | Natural Resources
Tumblr media
Solarpunk Project - Nusa Stiglitz
Sri Lanka contains several diverse natural resources to draw from. Apart from the main ones that are used in this world (tropical climate, windy coasts, lakes and rivers), there are other smaller ones that are put to use in various other fields. They are as follows;
Mineral
Agricultural
Mineral Resources
Sri Lanka is home to several materials of the earth, such as limestone, graphite, mineral sands, gems, and phosphate.
Limestone is used in construction (in concrete) and in agriculture (to balance the pH levels in soil). It is used in a similar fashion as in Roman construction, which makes buildings and statues far more durable and in the long run, is better for the environment.
Graphite is used in writing materials, lubricants (like grease), in the electrical industry and to create graphene sheets, which are several times more durable than steel, and far more lightweight (used in the construction of certain technologies and equipment). The use of natural graphite in particular is more popular in Sri Lanka as it produces very little carbon emissions in comparison to the production of synthetic graphite.
Mineral sands are smaller ore deposits in the form of particles. Sri Lanka is well-endowed with industrial minerals including Graphite, Ilmenite, Rutile, Zircon, Quartz, Feldspar, Clay, Kaolin, Apatite, (Phosphate Rock), Silica Sand, Garnet sand, Mica, Calcite and Dolomite. Several mineral-sand deposits of Monazite, Zircon, Garnet and Ilmenite in particular are found in various parts of the island, and are now being exported. These are used in creating the wind turbine magnets that power part of the coasts of the island, and in medical, manufactured and electronic products such as fibre optics, and rechargeable batteries. Additionally, it is also used in materials such as inks, paints and sunscreen.
There exist a variety of gems that can be mined from Sri Lanka. Especially notable are blue sapphire, pink sapphire or ruby, and yellow sapphire; alexandrite and cat's-eye chrysoberyl; and almandine and hessonite garnet. These in particular resulted in a booming jewellery industry that formed in the country that often exports to other parts of the world.
Finally, phosphate is used to create phosphorous, which is itself used in fertiliser. It can also be used to create phosphorous acid, which has several applications as an agent in food, cosmetics, electronics and animal feed.
Agricultural Resources
The main agricultural export of Sri Lanka is tea, however the country also exports rubber, coconuts, rice, and spices. It was because of these resources that colonisers were drawn to this country, which also had the ideal conditions to grow them in. Ancient Sri Lankans also indulged in the practice of Chena cultivation, which was used to cultivate vegetables, greens, grains and cereals. Agriculture also heavily depended on the monsoonal seasons (Maha and Yala), and certain crops are relegated to only certain parts of the country (for example, tea is only grown in the central highlands of the country).
The nature of the Sri Lankan diet is such that most if not all compounds of a balanced meal can be locally sourced and grown in one's own garden. This led some Sri Lankans to pursue a meat-free lifestyle, although a more proper term would be to call it a minimum-meat lifestyle.
Live meat is found in the forms of cow, chicken, pig, and goat meat. Pork is slightly less common than the other two, as the demand for it is less. In addition to this, certain commodities are harvested from these animals, such as milk and eggs. Eggs in particular may come from a variety of animals, ranging from the aforementioned chicken to quail to duck. Sri Lanka also thrives on a strong fishing culture, with many fishing villages lining the coasts of the countries. However, villagers are careful not to harm crucial elements of the environment in the process (such as mangroves). Thus, more traditional means of fishing are employed. Some marine life that are often caught are crab, prawn, shark, and both large and smaller species of fish.
In addition to consumables, cotton is also grown in Sri Lanka, which is used to make a majority of the fabric seen in the country. Raw fabric is produced by "spinning" the cotton and "weaving" it once it has turned into threads.
As a result of all these boons, Sri Lanka seldom ever imports these products into the country, only ever resorting to during off-seasons for agricultural resources. This has led to a self-sustained growing economy that does not rely on international trade to benefit.

Byron Bay Pest Control
Byron Bay Pest Control has looked after countless homes and yards in Byron Bay. From one bedroom units to large homes and grounds, we have treated every sort of pest. That includes the general nasties such as cockroaches, ants, spiders, mosquitoes and midges to rodent control and full termite management and protection programs.
Located on the northeast tip of New South Wales, Byron Bay is often described as “where the ocean meets the rainforest.” Its spectacular beaches are popular with surfers and sunbathers. A pristine marine park surrounds Cape Byron, and there is an excellent walking track through the protected forest and cliff tops. The town’s other major industry is tourism, and the area also has a reputation for health, yoga, meditation and alternative therapies.
Its history began with the settlement of goldminers who used Byron Bay as a base to prospect for the valuable minerals rutile and zircon. The sand mining operation that followed yielded a measure of wealth for those who invested in it, but did not bestow riches on the many.
Today tourism drives the local economy, with visitors arriving to stroll the beachfront, to swim and scuba dive at Cape Byron Marine Park, to visit nearby quaint villages, and to walk the clifftop Cape Byron Lighthouse. The town is also a center for surfing, and many visitors enjoy whale watching, as Byron Bay is one of the most important areas for viewing humpbacks in Australia.
In addition, Byron Bay is a popular spot for nature enthusiasts to view birds and other wildlife. The town’s wildlife preserves include the Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary and Mount Warning National Park. The Byron Bay Golf Course is a popular golf destination, and the famous Byron Bay Lighthouse marks the most eastern point of mainland Australia.
In the past, cattle ranching was a significant economic driver in the area, and Byron Bay is still known for its beef and dairy production. The town also had a vibrant agricultural processing industry that included bananas, pineapples, avocados and flowers.
Pest-A-Gon is 100% Australian owned and operated. Over 35 years of industry experience. Proudly servicing all suburbs in and around the Far North Coast and Northern Rivers area.

Zircon’s homeworld looks straight out of a 70s sci-fi poster, a great collection of artificial structures surrounding and right up close to a red dwarf star. Xir species are mostly nomadic, however, traveling the galaxy on ships that pull energy from nearby stars for most of their lives either alone or in small groups, the place is more of a hub for them than anything else (the literal translation of its name in their language is ‘the Confluence’, like the point where two or more rivers meet, implying the meeting point of several distinct paths). Xe went off on xir own relatively early in xir lifespan (xe’s like 195 Earth years old, and xir species can live up to right about 1000, xe’s a young adult by their standards) and occasionally sneaks off back to xir ship to communicate with xir family and keep up with all of their individual travels.

What should you know about sand extraction & its various techniques?
Tumblr media
Are you aware of the significance of sand mining in In India?  In this blog, we'll discuss sand extraction techniques along with the pros and cons involved in this process
Sand extraction refers to the removal of sand from its natural environments, such as rivers, lakes, and beaches, to meet the global demand for sand which is used in various industries including construction and manufacturing.
Uses of extracted sand
The sand extraction is an important industry that provides materials for various purposes. According to sand mining companies, extracted sand may contain minerals such as rutile, ilmenite, and zircon, which contain the industrially useful elements titanium and zirconium. It may also contain other minerals such as garnet, leucoxene, sillimanite, and monazite.
One of the primary uses of sand is in construction, as sand is used to make concrete and other industrial products. The extracted sand can be used as an abrasive or in concrete, and sometimes mixed with salt on icy and snowy roads to lower the melting point temperature of the road surface.
Types of Sand Extraction Techniques
Open pit mining: Open pit mining, also known as sand pit mining, is the process of removing sand mainly through open pits, beaches, inland dunes, or ocean and river beds. In open pit mining, sand extraction companies extract sand from large pits created on the surface of the ground.
Dredging: It involves the removal of sand and minerals from the bottom of rivers, lakes, and oceans. This method is often used to extract sand from areas where it is difficult to access using other methods, such as shallow water bodies.
In-situ leaching: This is a technique used by the top sand mining companies in india to extract minerals, including sand, from below the ground surface. In this method, a solution is injected into the ground to dissolve the minerals, which are then pumped out of the ground. This technique is commonly used for the extraction of minerals like oil sands.
Cons of sand mining
Sand extraction has significant impacts on the environment and ecosystems. According to, it can cause harm to biodiversity, increase water turbidity and lower water table levels, alter the landscape, and contribute to climate change. In addition, sand extraction can also have socio-economic, cultural, and political consequences.
However, not only does sand extraction have negative impacts, but it also presents opportunities to extract minerals such as rutile, ilmenite, zircon, and others, which are useful elements in industries.
Conclusion:
