With an accelerated growth…

As with many sports, soccer teams have three uniforms or 'kits' -- home, away, and "third" which you wear when the first two are too similar to the other team's kit. I've often liked AS Roma's third kit best because it usually takes some design risks.
In the half-written football novel I establish that Askazer-Shivadlakia has a relationship to Rome via sport -- many Shivadh are AS Roma fans because their best player had his best years there, and Miranda and Gregory are shown in Roma supporter kit in the prologue.
And I've long established that blue and orange are the Shivadh flag colors, so it makes sense to put Shivadh RFC players in blue and orange kit:
Paolo had seen initial sketches for the designs, but he still craned his neck to see the real thing. The slideshow cycled through images of children and adults in uniforms: one set bright blue, shorts and shirts, with an orange star over the left breast and the royal crest on the right.
So imagine my goddamn surprise when the new Roma third kit jersey leaked yesterday and it's very nearly in spot-on Shivadh colors.
Tumblr media
Did I manifest this.
[ID: A tweet posted yesterday, June 30th, sharing two images of Roma's 2024-25 third kit. The shirts are a saturated blue with yellow-gold stripes down the sides and across the shoulders, and small red triangles under the arms. The Adidas logo is on the right breast with the Roma team logo on the left; below is the logo of the sponsor, Riyadh Season.]
Also I swear I came up with "Shivadh" as a term for a person from Askazer-Shivadlakia before I knew Riyadh Season existed -- they only started sponsoring Roma last year, it's a state-funded sports and entertainment festival in Saudi Arabia.
Anyway, licensed jerseys are stupid expensive, especially when you're also paying postage from Italy, but I might have to spend next month's book royalties on one. I know you can get player names on the back but I'm kind of hoping they issue a version with De Rossi (the new head coach) on it. Otherwise I'll probably get either Pellegrini or Dybala, maybe Bove.

According to Sheikh Abdul Latif Aziz al-Sheikh, those who use social media sites, especially Twitter, have not only lost this world but also their afterlife. The religious police head's remarks echo the concerns of Riyadh that Twitter is being used by Saudis to express opinions about sensitive political as well as other issues. The reason for the conservative kingdom's concern can be attributed to the fact that Saudi Arabia is seeing the world's fastest growth in the use of this social media platform according to the BBC. In April this year, the imam of Grand Mosque, Mecca, warned during the course of the sermon that Twitter was threatening Saudi's national unity.
The sermon was watched by millions on television. Grand Mufti, the most senior Muslim cleric in Saudi Arabia, had earlier on called Twitter users “fools”. The verbal attacks on Twitter by the religious leaders are seen as part of a determined offensive launched against the social media platform by Saudi's establishment. Many of the Saudi citizens have seized the opportunity presented by Twitter to quickly and effectively communicate and express opinions in a traditionally conservative society.
The Kingdom's concern about Twitter stems from the fact that the social media platform has been made use of to keep people informed about human rights activists on trial. Twitter has been used not only to post tweets about the protests that the Eastern Province witnessed recently, but also to upload images of the human rights activists when the trial was underway in the court.
This prompted the authorities to initiate action to link Twitter accounts of Saudis with their ID numbers so that some amount of restriction can be imposed. Several online activists have been jailed. At least one of them has been detained for alleged apostasy which could carry a death penalty.

Saudi Arabia on Wednesday executed a U.S. national convicted of torturing and killing his father, state media reported, bringing to at least 19 the number of foreigners put to death this year.
The death sentence for Bishoy Sharif Naji Naseef was carried out in the Riyadh region, the official Saudi Press Agency said.
The Gulf Kingdom is frequently criticized for its prolific use of capital punishment, which human rights groups say undermines its bid to soften its image through a sweeping "Vision 2030" social and economic reform agenda.
A court found that Naseef, whose age was not given, beat and strangled his Egyptian father to death and mutilated him after he died, and that he also used drugs and attempted to kill another person, SPA said.
The mode of execution was not specified, but Saudi Arabia has in the past often used beheading when implementing the death penalty.
A State Department spokesperson told CBS News on Wednesday that the U.S. "are aware of reports of the execution of a U.S. citizen in Saudi Arabia."
The spokesperson added that "We are monitoring the situation and have no further comment at this time."
Saudi Arabia was the world's third most prolific executioner last year, Amnesty International has said.
More than 1,000 death sentences have been carried out since King Salman assumed power in 2015, according to a report published earlier this year by the European Saudi Organisation for Human Rights and the Britain-based group Reprieve.
A total of 91 people — 19 of them foreigners — have been executed so far this year, according to an AFP tally based on state media reports.
As well as the U.S. national, those put to death came from countries including Bahrain, Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Jordan, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines and Yemen.
Last year's announced figure of 147 executions was more than double the 2021 figure of 69.
Executions for drug crimes resumed in 2022, ending a moratorium that lasted for almost three years.
The 2022 total included 81 people put to death on a single day for offenses related to "terrorism," an episode that sparked an international outcry.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, King Salman's son and the de facto ruler, has said on multiple occasions that the kingdom was reducing executions.
In a transcript of an interview with The Atlantic magazine published by state media in March 2022, Prince Mohammed said the kingdom had "got rid of" the death penalty except for cases of murder or when someone "threatens the lives of many people."

IMAGES: US flexes 'scrushing power' in the Middle East with B-1 bomber mission
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 12/06/2023 - 16:00 in Military, War Zones
The U.S. Air Force B-1 Lancer approaches a to start aerial refueling from a KC-135 Stratotanker assigned to the 912th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron while conducting a Bomber Task Force mission over the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility, June 8, 2023. The BTF mission was designed to build agility and interoperability between the U.S. and coalition partners while demonstrating the rapid deployment of combat power to deter regional aggression while promoting regional stability in Southwest Asia. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Emily Farnsworth)
The U.S. Air Force B-1 Lancer bombers fired advanced ammunition in a real weapons firing exercise in the Middle East, the latest display of the American force in the region.
Tumblr media
Two B-1s took off from Fairford RAF Base in the United Kingdom on June 7 and launched precision ammunition – JDAM guided bombs and an AGM-158 JASSM cruise missile – the next day in areas in Jordan and Saudi Arabia. The U.S. has intensified its air and maritime operations in the area amid Iran's aggressive stance and the melting of relations with Saudi Arabia.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
“These bomber missions represent the U.S. commitment to our partners and show our ability to provide overwhelming power at any time,” said Lieutenant General Alexus G. Grynkewich, commander of the Central Air Forces (AFCENT), in a statement on June 8. "Today was a demonstration of this capacity and strength of our partnerships."
Tumblr media
Five partner nations joined the effort, according to the command. The missions of the Bomber Task Force are often escorted by allied fighters, and Israel released a photo of their participation.
Tumblr media
The mission comes when America is conducting a separate military exercise in Saudi Arabia, the Eagle Resolve.
Last fall, the Biden administration said it would reassess the United States' relationship with Saudi Arabia as the kingdom moved to keep oil prices high after the large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. But since then, Iranian-backed militias have launched deadly attacks on American facilities, harassed vessels in the Persian Gulf, and Washington sought to improve relations with Riyadh.
Tumblr media
“It's a strategic relationship,” Secretary of State Antony Blinken told Asharq News during a visit to Saudi Arabia. "I think what we are seeing is a growing convergence in our partnership to move forward on issues of mutual interest for Saudi Arabia, the United States and, in this case, for countries in the region and beyond."
The Central Air Force's A-10 Thunderbolt IIs, which can carry small-diameter bombs and other precisely guided ammunition, flew on missions over the Arabian Sea, as well as the Navy's anti-ship P-8 Poseidons.
Tumblr media
The two B-1s that took off from Fairford are part of a task force of four bombers from Dyess Air Base, Texas, which have had a busy deployment in recent weeks.
Two of the planes flew directly to the Baltic and were received by a Russian fighter in what the American authorities emphasized as a safe interaction. A week later, two planes flew over Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, amid renewed ethnic tensions in the Balkans. The B-1 also participated in an Arctic security exercise with the European allies of the United States on a flight over the North Sea earlier this week.
Tumblr media
The B-1s began preparing for their last mission in the Middle East at CENTCOM when AGM-158 JASSMs were loaded into the aircraft. The aircraft exchanged the Far North for the Middle East and its summer heat, refueling during the mission of KC-10 Extenders, which took off from Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, and KC-135 Stratotankers from Al Udied.
Tumblr media
“These activities have reinforced the U.S. commitment to contribute to the security and stability of the Middle East region and demonstrate the growing complexity, the deepening of military interoperability and the strength of our shared defense capabilities,” said Pentagon press secretary Brig. General Patricks S. Ryder to the reporters.

Buying Office Furniture - What You Must Know
Buying office furniture for your new or old office can sometimes be more tedious and stressful when considering stylish, trendy, classic, and finest furniture. You must have a good eye for compelling images to be a good buyer of office furniture both from a nearby local store or online stores through classifieds. You will have to apply your wisdom, patience, and time to choose good furniture due to a number of wholesalers and retailers in local and online stores.
Before you choose your office furniture, you need to familiarize yourself with certain tips on choosing furniture that will serve its purpose for as long as you want it;
You must put the price of the furniture you want to buy to be the top list of your budget or finance. Adequate planning of your budget, as regards the price, is highly essential, you will also need to get the full cost of delivery and installation added up to your expenses.
Where you are buying is another essential tip to consider before making an attempt to purchase your office furniture. Besides, you have the advantage of beating down the cost based on your budget. You will also have the opportunity to get free information on installation and other physical assistance.
Shopping for your office furniture online through classifieds is a fast way of buying furniture, unlike local stores where you are faced with the problem of carriage and transportation. Buying online would not afford you the opportunity to see the image of your furniture physically until it is shipped to your doorstep.
For business owners with a strong passion for color, you must choose office furniture that will closely match the color on the wall of your office and other office decor. Hence, your order must be in line with your color taste and it is advisable to order such furniture in a local store around you in order to get assistance from the owner of the store as regards the color. The look of your office wall the furniture and other decor in the office must be soothing and attractive to your customers.
Quantity and quality are other factors that must be your guide when you are buying furniture for your office. Quality here means high price, good product, and a lasting product, while quantity means considerably lower price, reduced quality with a short life span. Your estimated years of usage of the furniture in your office must be taken into consideration as well as your finances. The size of your office also determines the number of office furniture to use.
The two places to buy your furniture are local stores and online stores depending on your budget and finance. For small business owners, you need to patronize your local store for your furniture and save yourself from searching the internet all day long. You only need a good eye to catch your taste and class.

Bismillāhir Rahmānir Raheem
A Form of Shirk (Polytheism) Occurring Related to the World Cup
Today, Shaikh 'Ali al-Haddādi mentioned in his khutbah (in his masjid in Riyadh, KSA):
Knowledge of the Unseen, which includes what will happen in the future, is exclusive to Allāh, and not even the greatest of Prophets had it. Allāh says:
{ قُل لَّاۤ أَمۡلِكُ لِنَفۡسِی نَفۡعࣰا وَلَا ضَرًّا إِلَّا مَا شَاۤءَ ٱللَّهُۚ وَلَوۡ كُنتُ أَعۡلَمُ ٱلۡغَیۡبَ لَٱسۡتَكۡثَرۡتُ مِنَ ٱلۡخَیۡرِ وَمَا مَسَّنِیَ ٱلسُّوۤءُۚ إِنۡ أَنَا۠ إِلَّا نَذِیرࣱ وَبَشِیرࣱ لِّقَوۡمࣲ یُؤۡمِنُونَ }
Say (O Muhammad ﷺ): "I possess no power of benefit or hurt to myself except as Allah wills. If I had the knowledge of the Ghaib (unseen), I should have secured for myself an abundance of wealth, and no evil should have touched me. I am but a warner, and a bringer of glad tidings unto people who believe."
[Surah Al-A`râf: 188]
Nūh عليه السلام said similar [1]. In addition to this, visiting anyone who claims to know the future and asking them a question renders that person's prayer invalid for 40 days [2]. Further, if a person believes what he says, then this is major Shirk and Kufr (disbelief), which takes one out of the fold of Islām [3]; their good deeds are not accepted from them no matter how many they may be, unless they make truthful repentance before dying.
Sadly, this has become re-popularized in the image of animals "predicting" World Cup wins. The Shaikh further mentioned that the previous polytheists nations world do similar things, but Islām came and forbade these things and called them Shirk. The Prophet ﷺ said:
الطيرة شرك الطيرة شرك الطيرة شرك
"Tiyarah (evil omen) is Shirk (polytheism), Tiyarah is Shirk, Tiyarah is Shirk". [4]
In another hadeeth:
لا عدوى ولا طيرة
"There is no contagion of a disease without Allāh's Permission, nor Tiyarah (bad omen)". [5]
Therefore, it is Harām (impermissible) to give an ear to these predictions without believing them (and a person's prayer is not acceptable for 40 days), and major Shirk (polytheism) to believe them.
والله أعلم
Summarized, paraphrased, and translated by:
Zain Irfan Abu Hibban
References:
[1]: [Sūrah Hūd (11): 31]
[2]: a hadeeth of some of the wives of the Prophet ﷺ in Saheeh Muslim
[3]: the hadeeth narrated by Abū Hurayrah رضي الله عنه reported by Abu Dāwūd and is graded authentic
[4]: the hadeeth of 'Abdullāh ibn Mas'ood رضي الله عنه reported by Abu Dāwūd
[5]: the hadeeth of Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه in Saheeh al-Bukhāri and Muslim
Just a clarification, since I was asked about this: what the Shaikh was referring to is ANIMAL predictions, not what people discuss based on the strength of players, previous games, stats, etc. What is being referred to is when food is placed in front of two team's logos / flags, and whichever team the animal goes towards to eat food, they use that as an omen to decide which team will win. This is EXACTLY like what the pagan Arabs would do before Islām, when they would use the direction that birds flew in to make decisions; for example, if they fly right, they will travel or proceed to do what they intended, and if they flight left, they don't follow through. The two hadeeth above, which mention Tiyarah (evil omen), are related to that and are derived from the same root letters in the Arabic language [1].
Birds: طَيْر
Evil omen: طِيَرَة
You can see the same root letters: ط-ي-ر
Taken from Shaikh al-'Uthaimeen's explanation of Kitāb at-Tawheed:
القول المفيد شرح كتاب التوحيد ص. 358 ط. دار ابن الجوزي باب ما جاء في التطير
The book is translated in English, so anyone can refer to the chapter on evil omens in shaa Allaah.
