okayyy lets go!! -he's born to a human noble father (octavian trevelyan) and a valshoth qunari mother ("anais" trevelyan)

-a handful of the bann's siblings grew to dislike the bann's wife over the years, resulting in them to pick a more "fresh" looking woman for the bann -anais was picked specifically for the bann by one of his sisters during one of her visits to the ostwick circle -the bann and lady trevelyan (viktoria trevelyan) were already starting to have issues about their relationship and when anais arrived to the estate, octavian was more than happy to bed the qunari lady instead -anais' background was not questioned too much as she did not have any vitaars nor seemed to speak qunlat, and they were certain that just like any other non-human races in thedas, she was going to give birth to a human child -when roman was born though, the first signs of his qunari lineage begun showing as he was born with pale grey skin, making the midwife to think he was stillborn at the first sight -as the years would pass, roman started to grow horns -which was something his relatives didn't expect or want, blaming anais for "poisoning" roman's blood like that for years on end -in 9:21, a decade after roman was born, anais was publicly executed after she was found mauling one of her sisters-in-law to death. -weeks after his mother's death, roman's magic surfaced and was sent to the circle of ostwick -lady trevelyan and the bann would bring him home every weekend so he wouldn't feel isolated from his siblings -anais's death did not mean the end of her in-laws' petty behaviour, as they directed their hatred towards anais to roman instead -and thus, a tug of war between the bann's siblings and his inner family, as roman's half siblings and stepmother would do their best to keep him away from the bann's siblings' petty schemes. as u can see i was pretty inspired by magnificent century lmao there's more lore of him but i dont think i can do it justice with just few sentences here so im working on a fic that goes through roman's backstory chapter by chapter :3

Super late to the party actually posting this, I’ve been trying to illustrate Dünya’s armor and it’s taking awhile - so here’s a screencap of her looking exhausted on the throne lol

Favorite Fruit: She’s very into citrus fruits, especially grapefruit - because of DA’s funky geography I feel like she has a hard time finding citrus in Ferelden lol

Random Fact: After dissolving the Inquisition, Dünya decides to join the Chargers 1) to stay with Bull and 2) to keep using her combat skills. With two mage older siblings, she never felt completely comfortable having a role in the Chantry if it meant having power over them. She chooses Leliana as divine so she and her siblings can live more freely.

Sarani Shepard: meaning protector, guardian or path (gotta be honest, i knew about the first two and it's why i chose the name, but the third is a surprise to me when i googled again for this). I already kinda HCed Sarani (who had a different placeholder name at the time) as being part Indian so I was intentionally finding an Indian name that would fit. her LIs call her Rani sometimes which means 'queen' and 'joyous song' and that second one feels especially fitting as she doesnt let anyone else use her first name, and she is very happy to have people she loves and trusts 🥺

Mars Shepard: my new child i just made last night whose face isnt done yet xD got the idea of using space names from @xoshepard (thank youuu <3) and I went with Mars because roman god of WAR and also gender fuckery 😌 she's gonna be romancing Kaidan!

Riyaad Hawke: my canon hawke is garrett riyaad is a random dude the hawkes adopted dfjkghk. name means 'beautiful garden'. if you cant tell, i almost stole his name for myself xD

Bintang: 'bintang' is the Malay word for star

Arianwen Trevelyan: means silver, blessed. she's an andrastian and blessed made sense because of that, and her hair is like blue-silver so yeah (silver when she was born, darkening to blue, was the canon i made for her i believe)

Bronwen Trevelyan: similar meaning, fair/white and blessed. she's aria's twin so it made sense.

Veara Lavellan: my lavellan used to be Valora and pretty much just chaged her name for veara. the most i found on the internet is that it means 'special' lmao

WIP Wednesday!!!

Pretend there’s a cool graphic here.  Perhaps I’ll have time to make one some day soon.  Or if anyone wants to whip one up for me, I’ll draw your blorbo as an exchange of goods and services.

Anyways!  On to the sharing!  I was really pleasantly surprised with last week and how many people shared with each other what neat things they were working on and kept the chain going.  So I’m doing it again!  Remember, there’s no pressure, but show me what you’re working on!  What neat things do you have cooking in either the Dragon Age or otherwise fandoms?

I myself don’t have a whole lot this week.  I’ve been suffering from an overwhelming number of ideas and brain bugs and can’t really sit down to complete any of them.  Instead I’m bouncing from idea to idea like a ping pong ball.  I did a little more work on my Inquisitor’s character sheet this week, focusing on his post-Trespasser design as head of Divine Victoria’s honour guard.

For context, this was the original “design” which was done last year and mostly on a dare after making the joke that the Divine’s bodyguards in Trespasser were just wearing recoloured versions of Sebastian’s outfit and “lol wouldn’t Quinn look dumb in that.”  I added a few elements of Divine Victoria’s armour - mainly with the red fur mantle but it’s pretty basic.

This was my first pass at the redesign for Quinn’s new reference sheet done a couple months ago.  I kept the shoulders the same, but tried to lean into Divine Victoria’s armour more.  Unfortunately, I don’t think it suits a male figure or it just didn’t really translate well for me.  The addition of texture/embossing on parts of the armour also made it feel a bit too busy for me more than looking decorative or elegant.  It also didn’t look like it allowed for much movement in the torso and while I make the dark joke that Quinn is so drunk and depressed at this point in his life that it’d make sense to strap him into armour that forces him to stay upright, compared to the other outfits I’ve redesigned this just... didn’t feel it.

Here is my more recent pass at the redesign!  Again, the shoulders are largely untouched.  I like the idea of the armour completely covering what remains of his left arm, plus it has the added practicality of likely having a strap at the bottom that wraps around the bottom of his sleeve securing it into place.  The bracer on his right arm has also largely been left alone - it’s a hold over from some of his Inquisitor gear in one of my designs and I like carrying bits over... like a wardrobe evolution.  It also shows that Quinn has personal attachment to articles of clothing and accessories.  The fur mantle of the Divine is still there... never gonna get rid of it, but it’s sort of combined/blended with the in-game body guard appearance.  The chest has also been flattened and simplified, going back to resembling the body guard/Sebastian chest piece but a little larger and more protective.  Plus the hint of plate layering too.  The scaled coat is still there as the under layer, but it’s less prominent or visible.  There is a vest between the armour and the scale coat to give the breast plate a little more friction to stay in place.  It will likely be red with gold accents.  All the embossing on the armour has been removed.  I am unlikely to bring it back.

The waist design was also re-worked, taking inspiration from one of my favourite artists’ character design work in Fire Emblem.  The Roman-esque belted skirt is more of a half-skirt, with a fabric skirt draped over part of the belt.  I’ve blocked out a section where I am going to experiment with embroidery patterns similar to what I’ve done on previous outfits to give this more of a my-idea-of-the-Trevelyans feel.  I haven’t done a colour test yet.  But I do think I like this better overall.
