X-Raid confirma alineación de cuatro autos para el Dakar 2023: Przygonski y Halpern con el Plus T1+, Krotov y Al-Qassimi con el Buggy

El equipo X-Raid buscará prenderse en el Dakar 2023 con un nuevo auto que pretende que vuelvan a pelear los primeros puestos, luego de que el último par de años privilegiaran en alineación al Q Motorsport con el proyecto de Audi. Esta temporada X-Raid llega al Dakar con un nuevo auto cumpliendo la normativa T1+ con una alineación de duplas veloces en Kuba Przygonski y Armand Monleón y el argentino Sebastián Halpern con Ronnie Graue llevando el debut del MINI JCW Rally Plus. Además, el fiable y querido MINI JCW Buggy volverá una nueva edición tratando de meterse entre los primeros pero sin la reglamentación T1+: Khalid Al-Qassimi y Ola Floene pilotarán la primera unidad con Denis Krotov y Konstantin Zhiltsov en la segunda.

X-Raid cumple 20 años en el Rally Cross Country y buscará sumar otro gran resultado a su potente historia donde han ganado seis ediciones del Dakar en 2012, 2013 (Peterhansel), 2014 (Roma), 2015 (Al-Attiyah), 2020 (Sainz) y 2021 (Peterhansel). 

Kuba Przygonski es la principal carta del X-Raid de cara a este Dakar y el polaco llega con nuevo navegante en Armand Monleón que viene de ser el copiloto de Lucio Álvarez en el Dakar 2022 y el Mundial de Cross Country donde ganaron el Rally de Kasajistán. Antes, Monleón fue navegante de Gerard Farrés en los SSV. Przygonski, ex-motard que llegó a ser P6 en motos en 2014, viene compitiendo en los autos desde 2016 y acumula ya 5 Top 10 en 7 participaciones con mejor resultado de cuarto en 2019 y 2021. En 2022 pilotando un MINI JCW Buggy del X-Raid fue sexto, un resultado bastante notable considerando que el Buggy estaba en desventaja mecánica con los T1+.

El mendocino Sebastián Halpern buscará mejorar el octavo puesto del Dakar 2022, donde también corrió con el Buggy en desigualdad mecánica. Después de iniciar su carrera en los Quads donde llegó a ser segundo en 2011, Halpern se pasó a los autos donde consiguió la novena posición con un programa privado en 2018. Desde entonces estuvo fuera de la competencia hasta regresar junto al probado navegante Ronnie Graue en 2022, también entrenando en el Mundial de Cross Country.

El Dakar 2023 comienza dentro de 11 días, el 31 de diciembre en Arabia Saudita.

Sainz & Cruz Victorious at 2020 Dakar Rally

Carlos Sainz (ESP) and his co-driver Lucas Cruz (ESP) have won the Rally Dakar for the third time, having previously triumphed in 2010 and 2018. In doing so, they presented MINI with its fifth overall victory at the iconic endurance rally. 

For MINI and MINI Motorsport partner X-raid, this was the first success since their winning run together, which lasted from 2012 to 2015. The Spanish pair, in the MINI John Cooper Works Buggy, finished 6:21 minutes ahead of last year’s winner Nasser Al-Attiyah (QAT) after roughly 7,500 kilometers through Saudi Arabia, which was hosting the Dakar for the first time.

Dakar record winner Stéphane Peterhansel (FRA) and his co-driver Paulo Fiuza (POR) finished third, 9:58 minutes behind Sainz and Cruz, to round off an impressive performance from the two MINI JCW Buggies. The two MINI JCW Buggy crews each won four stages, while MINI vehicles went fastest on a total of nine of the twelve days. Vaidotas Zala (LTU) / Saulius Jurgelenas (LTU), in a MINI JCW Rally, won the very first Dakar stage on Arabian soil on the opening day.

Seven of the nine MINI crews that started the rally reached the finish in Al-Quiddia (KSA), four of them in the top ten. Orlando Terranova (ARG) and Bernardo ‘Ronnie’ Graue (ARG) finished in the top three on three days on their way to sixth place overall in the four-wheel drive MINI JCW Rally. Local favourite Yasir Seaidan (KSA) and his co-driver Alexey Kuzmich (RUS) were ninth and finished an excellent second on the closing stage. Jakub ‘Kuba’ Przygonski (POL) and co-driver Timo Gottschalk (GER) had their hopes of a top result dashed on the opening day when a technical issue resulted in them losing six hours. They eventually finished in 19th place, 8:35.18 seconds off the lead.

MINI vehicles topped the overall standings after every one of the twelve legs at the 40th staging of the Dakar Rally. Zala and Jurgelenas got the ball rolling with victory on the opening stage, after which Terranova and Graue took the overall lead on day two. Sainz and Cruz claimed their first stage win on the third leg. That victory took them to the top of the overall standings – a position they held right through to the finish.

The Bahrain JCW X-raid Team crew of Stéphane Peterhansel (FRA) and Paulo Fiuza (POR) cameback ninth in the MINI JCW Buggy. Their team-mates Carlos Sainz and Lucas Cruz were 13th. Although Sainz still holds the overall lead, ahead of Al-Attiyah and Peterhansel, today’s results have seen the gaps between the top three come down.

Carlos Sainz (E) se spolujezdcem Lucasem Cruzem (E) navázali letošním vítězstvím v Dakar Rally na dvojici předchozích triumfů v letech 2010 a 2018. Pro MINI letošní vítězství znamená již pátý triumf v tomto ikonickém vytrvalostním závodě. Pro MINI a partnera MINI Motorsport – tým X-raid – to byl první společný úspěch po triumfech v letech 2012 až 2015. Španělská dvojice jedoucí s buginou MINI John Cooper Works Buggy měla v cíli 7500 kilometrů dlouhé soutěže, která se jela poprvé v Saúdské Arábii, náskok 6 minut a 21 minut na loňského vítěze Nassera Al-Attiyaha (QAT).

Rekordman v počtu vítězství na „Dakaru“, Stéphane Peterhansel (F), se svým spolujezdcem Paulem Fiuzou (P) dojeli se ztrátou 9:58 minuty na Sainze s Cruzem na třetím místě, a tím dokázali působivé schopnosti dvojice bugin MINI JCW. Každá ze dvou posádek jedoucích s MINI JCW Buggy vyhrála čtyři etapy, přičemž vozy MINI zajely v celkem devíti etapách z dvanácti nejrychlejší časy. Vůbec první rychlostní zkoušku na Arabském poloostrově vyhrála s vozem MINI JCW Rally posádka Vaidotas Zala (LTU)/Saulius Jurgelenas (LTU).

Sedm z devíti posádek MINI, které startovaly na Dakar Rally, dojelo až do cíle v Al-Quiddia, čtyři z nich dokonce skončily v první desítce. Orlando Terranova (ARG) a Bernardo „Ronnie“ Graue (ARG) dojeli na své cestě k celkovému šestému místu s vozem MINI JCW Rally ve třech etapách mezi prvními třemi. Na devátém místě dojela posádka Yasir Seaidan (KSA) se spolujezdcem Alexeyem Kuzmichem (RUS), kteří byli v poslední etapě na vynikajícím druhém místě. Jakub „Kuba“ Przygonski (PL) a Timo Gottschalk (D) museli na své sny o dobrém umístění zapomenout hned během prvního dne, kdy je potkaly technické potíže, které je stály šest hodin času. Nakonec skončili na 19. místě se ztrátou 8.35:18.

Vozy MINI byly ve vedení 40. dakarské rally po všech dvanácti etapách. Zala a Jurgelenas zajistili vedení MINI již po první etapě, po druhé etapě se z prvního místa těšili Terranova a Graue. Sainz a Cruz zaznamenali své první vítězství v etapě číslo tři, což je vyneslo na první místo průběžné klasifikace, které si pak udrželi až do konce soutěže.

Carlos Sainz: „Jsem moc a moc šťastný. Tolik tvrdé práce, psychického tréninku a testování s týmem přineslo tento vynikající výsledek. Pro nás řidiče je tento závod fantastický, ale musíte intenzivně pracovat již od prvního dne. Možná se to nezdá, ale tuto soutěž jsme jeli doslova naplno od samotného začátku. Právě teď si chci jen užívat náš úspěch.“

Stéphane Peterhansel: „Byl to pro mě tak trochu starý Dakar. Až na poslední chvíli jsme se rozhodli vyměnit spolujezdce a pak jsme s Paulem Fiuzou nastoupili přímo do závodu. Jsem šťastný za tento výsledek. Byli jsme třetí, což je lepší umístění, než jsme na startu očekávali. Chlapci vpředu byli velmi rychlí a nedělali žádné chyby v navigaci. My jsme dělali, co bylo v našich silách.“

Bend Körber – ředitel MINI: „Jménem celé rodiny MINI bych chtěl pogratulovat Carlosi Sainzovi, Lucasu Cruzovi a celému týmu X-raid k vítězství v letošní dakarské rallye. Současně bych chtěl poblahopřát také Stéphanu Peterhanselovi a Paulu Fiuzovi k jejich umístění na stupních vítězů. Bohužel tento úspěch poněkud zastínily tragické nehody Paula Gonçalvese a Edwina Stravera, které nás velmi zasáhly. Naši jezdci a tým X-raid předvedli v Saúdské Arábii, která dakarskou rally hostila vůbec poprvé, vynikající výkony. Tyto výsledky jsou také odměnou za jejich intenzivní práci v rámci příprav. MINI John Cooper Works Buggy ukázalo, že je v náročném a neznámém terénu velmi rychlé a spolehlivé. Celkově páté vítězství MINI v Dakar Rally a první od roku 2015 pro nás všechny znamená velmi mnoho.“

Carlos a Stéphane předvedli vynikající výkony. Výkonnost našich vozů MINI JCW byla fantastická. Jsme nadšeni, že se nám po tolika letech opět s vozy MINI podařilo v Dakaru zvítězit. Skutečnost, že čtyři vozy MINI skončily v první desítce a sedm z nich mezi nejlepšími dvaceti, ukazuje na jejich mimořádnou spolehlivost. Sebastián Halpern regresa al Dakar con el X-Raid y altas expectativas

El mendocino Sebastián Halpern ha sido una de las novedades de la temporada regular del Cross Country, al decidir volver a la competición después de 3 años. Con un ambicioso proyecto que tiene por objetivo llevarlo al Top 10 de la clasificación general en los autos, Halpern se ha asegurado uno de los MINI JCW Buggy campeones de las últimas dos ediciones y correrá con el poderoso equipo X-Raid. El Top 10 es conocido para Halpern, ya que lo consiguió en su última largada en el Dakar cuando fue 9° en 2018. Antes, destaca un segundo puesto en 2011 cuando corría en los Quads.

Para lograr el objetivo, Halpern no solo se ha armado de una poderosa máquina, sino que contará con uno de los mejores navegantes argentinos en Ronnie Graue. Graue tiene como mejor resultado un quinto puesto en 2012 con Lucio Álvarez, pero también consiguió resultados sólidos junto a Orly Terranova en los últimos años en el X-Raid, por lo que conoce perfectamente esta organización. Graue también anotó un Top 10 en Quads en el Dakar 2011 (9°). 

Halpern tuvo una sólida temporada en el Mundial de Cross Country FIA yendo de menos a más en una excelente preparación para el Dakar: Séptimo en Kasajistán, quinto en Abu Dhabi y Marruecos y un excelente tercer puesto en el Hail Rally en Arabia Saudita, en un terreno muy similar al que se usará en este Dakar.

“Vuelvo al Dakar después de una ausencia de 3 años, en los que estuve dedicado a la empresa y a mi familia. Logré ordenarme y me prometí que no me perdería la próxima edición. En mayo me incorporé al equipo MINI, que a mi juicio es el mejor del mundo de Cross Country. Ha ganado los dos últimos Dakar con un auto cuya mayor virtud es su confiabilidad, ya que nunca se rompe. El buggy tiene muchos años de desarrollo y al ser un auto de tracción simple, tuve que adaptarme a la conducción, que es muy diferente. Hay que gestionar muy bien la presión de los neumáticos, esto es, aumentar en lo rápido, reducir la presión en la arena y tener en cuenta el mayor recorrido de la suspensión.” detalló sobre su vehículo, el piloto de Mendoza, Sebastián Halpern. “Junto a Ronnie hemos tenido un muy buen año, de mucho aprendizaje. Nos llevamos bien arriba y abajo del auto. Hemos sido muy constantes en las carreras y la clave estuvo en mantenerse todos los días dentro del top ten. Nunca he corrido en Arabia, por eso será importante la prueba de Hail, para conocer el terreno. El objetivo es estar entre los diez, teniendo en cuenta el gran nivel competitivo de la categoría, en que hay al menos 20 autos que luchan adelante”.

“Estoy muy contento de seguir en el mismo equipo y de correr junto a Sebastián, con quien compartimos el tema de la navegación. Sebastián es un piloto rápido, que le ha ido tomando la mano al buggy y al manejo de la tracción simple, porque viene de manejar autos de tracción integral. Además, en lo personal, he tenido que adaptarme para darle a Sebastián toda la información de la hoja de ruta que él necesita.” complementó Ronnie Graue. “Nos ha ido bien en los rallies del año. Siempre hubo algún problema, pero logramos mantener un buen resultado. Por ejemplo, en Abu Dhabi nos enterramos y perdimos media hora para salir. Por eso hemos hablado con Sven (Qvandt) de lo importante que es no detenerse nunca con el buggy, porque se pierde mucho tiempo. El objetivo para nosotros es estar entre los diez primeros”.

Halpern largará el Dakar 2022 con un prólogo el 1 de enero. Un grupo de al menos otros 20 autos tiene el mismo objetivo de terminar en el Top 10 en este rally, se viene un interesante desafío.

Five MINI John Cooper Works Rally Cars Will Race in 2019 Dakar Rally

The MINI brand is getting involved in rallying quite a lot these days. The British manufacturer has been a regular participant in the Dakar rally for quite some time now but it seems like this year they will go at it full force. Earlier this week I told you about Carlos Sainz joining the team, racing a buggy in the rally whereas today we’re taking a closer look at the teams racing MINI John Cooper Works cars in the 2019 edition.

MINI X-raid will be fielding five rally cars in Dakar next year, including four established crews and one new one under the banner of ORLEN X-raid. This team will be composed of Jakub “Kuba” Przygonski and co-driver Tom Colsoul. Four wins in nine outings helped Przygonski secure the 2018 FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup championship title. “My goal for January is to do better than I did at the 2018 Dakar. I finished 15th in my first Dakar, seventh in 2017, and fifth last year. Tom and I are quick and have found a good rhythm over the course of the season. We have completed a lot of kilometres in recent months and are ready for the fight,” said Kuba about the upcoming challenge.

The 41st edition of the Dakar rally will kick off on January 6 but the five MINI cars which will line-up have already proven themselves in other challenges, before heading out to Peru. The Silk Way Rally 2018 (Russia edition) was one of two notable wins for Yazeed Al-Rajhi and his co-driver Timo Gottschalk. The Spanish pairing of Joan “Nani” Roma and Alex Haro took three wins in 2018 – Baja Portalegre 500, Turkmen Desert Race, Hungarian Baja.

The third MINI JCW Rally team will be the crew of Orlando Terranova and Ronnie Graue. The experience they gained during their win in the desert conditions of the 2018 Desafío Inca will prove useful to them in the Dakar 2019 edition, where the heat and sand will be pivotal to determine the front runners in the early stages. Joining the aforementioned crews will be the experienced duo of Boris Garafulic and co-driver Filipe Palmeiro.

    Asics haucht seiner Klassiker Silhouette Gel-Diablo gerade wieder ordentlich frisches Leben ein. Los ging das Jahr mit es im Rahmen der legendären KITH Volcano Collab. Zwischendurch dropte jetzt auch das OG Modell und Colorway, was teils aufwändig insziniert wurde. Mit den beiden Gel-Diablo Colorway setzt das japanische Brand, diese Strategie fort.

  So sehen die Asics Gel-Diablo Colorway aus

Die beiden neuen Gel-Diablo Modelle setzten auf eine Mischung aus Leder und Mesh. Mudguard, Eyletts und Heel sind mit Overlays verstärkt. Der erste Colorway verpasst dem Gel-Diablo ein beinahe monochrome-graues Auftreten. Lediglich das Heel Tab ist rot. Das rote Heel Tab gibt es auch bei der zweiten Variante. Ansonsten setzt der Colorway auf eine Kombination aus Schwarz an der Side, Tongue und Lining, und Grau an der Toe-Box und Mudguard. Beide Colorway kommen mit einer gesprenkelten Midsole, beim zweiten Colorway im Oreo Stil.

  Wer Bock auf einen echten 90er Retro Runner hat, für den sollte der Gel-Diablo absolut eine Option sein, bevor man zum Yeezy 700 greift. Bei Asics bekommt man immerhin einen echten OG.

Sebastian Halpern correrá un MINI JCW Buggy del X-Raid en el Rally de Kasajistán y planea estar en el Dakar 2022

Un nombre conocido en el cross country argentino tendrá un debut de lujo al volante de un MINI JCW Buggy, el auto campeón de los dos últimos Dakar, en el Rally de Kasajistán. El mendocino Sebastián Halpern que realizó su carrera en los Quads, antes de pasarse a los autos tanto como piloto como navegante, tendrá el gran honor de pilotar el Buggy en Kasajistán, fecha del Mundial de Cross Country FIA, buscando sumar kilómetros para una posible aventura en el Dakar 2022 con este auto.

Halpern contará con un excelente navegante para esta fecha del Mundial, ya que Ronnie Graue, habitual copiloto de Orly Terranova en el X-Raid, estará acompañándolo en este Rally de Kasajistán. 

Halpern tuvo una carrera destacada en los Quads, llegando a ser segundo en el Dakar 2011 y luego en su paso a los autos, obtuvo un notable octavo lugar en el Dakar 2018 con una Toyota del South Racing, metiéndose en el centro de la lucha de Toyota, Peugeot y MINI con un auto privado.

No es la primera vez que Halpern integra las filas de X-Raid, ya que en 2015 fue navegante de Lucio Álvarez en el Desafío Ruta 40 en Argentina con un MINI All4Racing. Álvarez, otro piloto que aparece regresando en la lista de inscritos para este Rally de Kasajistán, pero con Overdrive y Toyota.

“Estoy orgulloso de ser parte del equipo X-raid. El MINI JCW Buggy es actualmente el mejor coche si quieres triunfar en el Dakar. Mi gran objetivo es el Rally Dakar en 2022″ comenta el mendocino. “Para asegurarme de estar lo mejor preparado posible, competiré en una serie de rallies  junto con X-raid. Las carreras previstas son los rallies en Kazajstán, Marruecos y el Hail Rally en Arabia Saudita”

“Además de todo el entrenamiento, también participaré en algunos rallyes nacionales. Tengo mucho trabajo por delante en los próximos meses para poder viajar al Dakar con una buena puesta a punto y en buena forma, tanto física como mentalmente ” concluyó el piloto argentino.

La esperada salida de Carlos Sainz, Stephane Peterhansel y Mattias Ekstrom de X-Raid para pasar al proyecto de Audi y Q Motorsport, abre codiciados espacios para pilotar el MINI JCW Buggy en el Dakar 2021. Ekstrom manejará el otro Buggy en el Rally de Kasajistán. Halpern espera tener ese puesto en enero de 2022.

Nasser Al-Attiyah y Yazeed Al-Rajhi lideran lista de inscritos del Rally de Kasajistán en autos, con varias tripulaciones argentinas

El Mundial de Cross Country FIA empezó de gran forma en el Andalucía Rally hace dos semanas con la victoria de Nasser Al-Attiyah en los caminos españoles. Pasada la competencia más estilo Baja que un rally y la polémica que la acompañó, es turno de la segunda ronda del serial, el Rally de Kasajistán en el que varias de las alineaciones que vimos en España se repetirán buscando éxitos en el primer rally de desierto de la temporada. Al-Attiyah encabeza la lista de participantes buscando otro triunfo con la Hilux del Overdrive pero hay varios otros interesantes candidatos.

Entre los frecuentes del Mundial de Cross Country FIA está Yazeed Al-Rajhi, que ahora contará con su navegante frecuente, Michael Orr, recuperado de la lesión que lo afectó tras el accidente que sufrieran ambos en la Sharqiyah Baja. Al-Rajhi viene de obtener un tercer puesto en Andalucía. También estará Vladimir Vasilyev con un MINI All4Racing de su equipo VRT. Vasilyev partió de mala forma el año con un abandono por accidente. Denis Krotov también repite con el MINI, lo mismo que Mattias Ekstrom con el MINI JCW Buggy después de un gran resultado en Andalucía. Miroslav Zapletal, también carta frecuente de los eventos internacionales, estará presente con su Ford F-150 así como Ronan Chabot.

Entre los no tan frecuentes, sorprende la alineación del equipo Overdrive con el regreso del argentino Lucio Álvarez con una Toyota Hilux, recordando los mejores momentos del Dakar sudamericano. Álvarez tendrá un navegante de lujo en Armand Monleón, que ha realizado los últimos Dakar con Gerard Farrés en los SSV después de bajarse de las motos. También con una Hilux del Overdrive estará Juan Cruz Yacopini, campeón dominante del South American Rally Race y debutante en el Dakar 2021, buscando sumar kilómetros preparando el próximo Dakar. Sebastian Halpern debutará con el MINI JCW Buggy con Ronnie Graue de navegante. 

Mathieu Serradori regresa a la actividad con su Century después de un Dakar complicado y lo hará con nuevo navegante luego de que Fabian Lurquin firmara con Prodrive y Sebastien Loeb. El reemplazo es Loic Minaudier, ex motard transformado en navegante de carreras.

En la categoría SSV, los T3 tendrán como favoritos a los pilotos del equipo Red Bull Junior: Guillaume de Mevius y Cristina Gutiérrez, vencedora en Andalucía. En los T4, los pilotos del Monster Energy Can-Am apuntan con fuerza con Austin Jones, pero el South Racing pondrá en ruta a Khalifa Al-Attiyah, Kees Koolen y al chileno Hernán Garcés, que repetiría carrera con el navegante Juan Pablo Latrach, campeón del Dakar 2021 con Chaleco López. Ambos fueron cuartos en Andalucía, aunque su participación no está confirmada. También en el South Racing, una tripulación argentina compuesta por Diego Martínez y Santiago Hansen.

El Rally de Kasajistán se corre entre el 7 y el 13 de junio.
