Model of the Lighthouse Roter Sand, Wesermünde, Germany, early 20th century

This lighthouse was only built in 1883/85 and is 83m high. It was in service until November 1986 and has been a listed building since 1987. This tower was the last thing German emigrants saw of their home country in 1885. Because of this and its design, it became the symbol of lighthouses par excellence in Germany.

I’d like to be a fly on the wall when he’s creating songs with Till! They’re both very creative with a laid back attitude and I bet Oliver isn’t a fan of conflicts just like Till. Never read a single bad thing about any of them! Same for Paul, Schneider and Flake.

From what they have said in interviews, the band mostly rehearses without Till in the beginning. Once they have something, they bring him in to see if he can come up with lyrics and vocals that work with the music. So I don't know if Oliver and Till sit together that often.

Luckily we do have some examples of it though. The song Roter Sand was created by Oliver, Till, and Flake after they had drunk a bottle of red wine. While I'm not too big on the whistling part (even though I'm a fan of Jenny Rosemeyer), I absolutely love that song.

Ein Lied was another song created in such a setting. Oliver and Till made it in ten minutes in the rehearsal room, and they recorded the vocals and the guitar together, with Oliver playing.

That said, I have often read that Rammstein are six men with strong personalities that do come out especially when they create music together. While some may be more stubborn than others, I am sure they have all had their moments.

Nonetheless, Rammstein have existed for almost 30 years together with lots of controversy, but without any major scandals. So I choose to believe they are good guys!

I recently discovered the beautiful song Roter Sand and one line has stuck with me, made me very emotional. Like when Till sings it, it scratches my brain and I feel like I might die and go to heaven hahah

I really like Roter Sand too, it's a wonderful song and beautifully sung by Till. I also love the fact that this song, at least in its original version, is the collective work of Till, Ollie and Flake after they've drunk a bottle of wine... It's also worth noting that Flake's wife Jenny makes the whistles on this song.

To answer your question about songs that make me feel something, I'd say Klavier, Nebel, Wo Bist Du and Meine Tränen.

Klavier : I love the theme of this song, the horrific story behind Till's beautiful voice and the music both soft and powerful.

Nebel and Wo Bist Du : the recurring themes in Rammstein's lyrics, love and the loss of love, are not really original here. But it's above all the melancholy and fragility that emanate from these songs that moves me.

Meine Tränen : My favourite from the last album. What a fantastic song ! The lyrics are fantastic, the story is worthy of Rammstein and Till's performance gives me the shivers ! When Till sings : "Dann und wann ein stummer Schrei / Und eine kleine Litanei" I get tears in my eyes !

I can also mention Stein Um Stein and Ich Tu Dir Weh, which I love enormously. And probably my favourite song is Spring, which I've already had the opportunity to talk about here.

Is any of the family involved or was involved with the band? Like I've read that Schneider's sister used to make their costumes in the 90s and I know Richard's daughter sometimes helps with promoting Emigrate -- that sort of thing.

Oh and what exactly does Joey Letz does during tour? I know he's involved in both Emigrate and Lindemann.

Oohh, love that question! Well, the list that i know is probably not complete, but we'll start here and let others add on.

Constance Schneider - Christoph's sister, and indeed, did costumes for the band in the past (not anymore afaik)

Jenny Rosemeyer - Flake's wife, did the whistling part on the song 'Roter Sand'

Khira-Li Lindemann - Richard's daughter, was the child's voice on the song 'Spieluhr' (she also features briefly on the 'Live in Berlin' DVD and indeed participated in promoting the latest Emigrate merch line, also DJ'ed at a couple of afterparties on the 2019 tour

Emil Reinke - Paul's son, member of the band Two Colors' featured with a RMX on the 'Angst' single.

Andrea Marino - Richard's daughter's boyfriend (and bandmate at Emigrate), featured with a RMX on the 'Adieu' single

Joe Letz has been friends with especially Till and Richard for a loooooong time

and they both like having him on tour, in this video you can hear Joe talking about how they called him and asked him to just come along, they'd find something for him to do 🥰

In 2019 Joe was sort of a PA for Richard, handing him his stuff, helping him switch outifts and generally supporting him, and being the resident DJ at the afterparties.

In 2022 Joe started out as Richard's PA again, somewhere around the middle of the European tour Joe left (Richard's PA from then on a lady, i think her name is Shelley). At the US part of the tour Joe was seen visiting the band again, and going to clubs with Till between concerts.

And ofcourse most importantly, Joe is a drummer on most of the Emigrate videos, and is a drummer for Till's new Till Lindemann band, where he joined Till on stage on several shows. Unfortunately until now they couldn't play a lot due to Covid, but i'm sure there's more to come 🌺

Personal Rammstein Song Tuning List

This is a little list I put together of some (not all) Rammstein songs and their tunings - I want to learn to play them on the guitar, but having to search for the tunings all the time is bothersome to say the least.

oh the wonderful world of playing piano, you don't have to retune it to the song

I'm saving it for reference for myself and maybe someone who's going through the same struggle will also find it useful.

If you see a tuning that might be wrong, feel free to correct me. I suck at music theory and I can't use it logically for the life of me I play everything by heart and feeling :')

If you're not sure about a song, I'd say try Drop D or Drop C tuning, because that's what they seem to use the most. Standard tuning isn't so usual, but there's a few.

And then, you have Drop B, and I gotta say I was "wtf Dicke Titten" because it was the first and only like that until I got to Angst. But yeah, those two are special :)

Donnerstag, 17. 11.: Wunderschöner roter Sand - wie in Namibia 🤩!

Wir sind seit gestern mit Joana, der Quasischwiegermutter von Philipp, in Bonita.

Heute machten wir 3 eine geführte Wanderung nach Estancia Mimosa. Diese Tour führte uns durch einen tropischen Dschungel entlang eines Flusses, wo wir auch immer wieder schwimmen gehen konnten und wo es ganz tolle Wasserfälle gibt! Es ist ein Paradies!

Den Abschluss bildete ein tolles brasilianisches Mahl! Einfach nur lecker! Wieder waren Maisgerichte dabei- ich liebe sie! Daheim möchte ich einige Gerichte ausprobieren!

Day 4 — Favorite Album

This question is as difficult as the first one about my favorite song. And like my favorite song, my favorite album changes every month. At the moment, I listen a lot to the album Zeit. I really like this album. It was a real slap in the face for me. For me, there are four albums that really stand out : Sehnsucht, Mutter, Reise Reise and LIFAD. My heart also beats for Rosenrot, it's a coherent album despite the fact that it's a patchwork of songs that were written for another album. I like its melancholic atmosphere and its dark poetry. I rediscovered the Herzeleid album with its remastered version "XXV Edition" (2020). The album I like the least is the Untitled, although it has very good songs like Deutschland, Zeig Dich (I love this song) or Puppe.

But I still have to make a choice… Damn, it's hard ! I choose Liebe Ist Für Alle Da. First of all, because it is this album that allowed me to see Rammstein live for the first time in 2009 with the tour that followed its release. It is this first concert that made me fall into this fandom and never leave it since.

I also like this album for its artwork that we owe to Eugenio Recuenco. The pictures that accompany this album are fantastic : creepy, violent, unhealthy. On the cover photo, we see Till cutting up a young woman lying on a table in the middle of the other Rammstein guys. One of the explanations that was given in a review of the album was that this young woman cut by Till was Venus, Roman goddess of love. So Till is giving each of his friends in the band a piece of love, thus illustrating the title of the album and of the eponymous song: liebe ist für alle da.

Musically, I think this album is more punchy, more violent, harder than the others. The themes are also harder. Rammlied is more than a song, it's an anthem that made Rammstein go from a band, a collective to a legend. The main theme of this album is love, love in all its forms: impossible love, sexual tourism, sadomasochism, seduction between man and woman, etc.

There are two songs that I particularly like (besides Ich Tu Dir Weh, as I already said), Roter Sand and Wiener Blut. Roter Sand, a song written by Till, Ollie and Flake after drinking a lot of wine, is about a duel between two suitors. A duel worthy of a Jane Austen novel. I would be very curious to know how they got this idea and which of the three reads romance novels… And then a nod to Flake's wife, Jenny, who can be heard whistling in this song.

And Wiener Blut ! What a song ! Till has outdone himself in writing it, even the other members of the band are fans of it, Flake will even say : “For Wiener Blut, Till imagined that he himself was the criminal. He did it so well that I’m actually frightened of him when he sings this song.”

Diese #Erzwespe sitzt über einem verschlossenen Nistloch einer #Wildbiene und hat ihren Legebohrer ins Holz getrieben. (roter Pfeil). Wenn sie die fremde Brutzelle erreicht hat, wird sie ihr Ei durch den Legebohrer hineinlegen. Später wird die geschlüpfte Erzwespenlarve die Wirtslarve der Wildbiene fressen. Interessant ist auch zu beobachten, wie intensiv die verschiedenen verschlossenen Nistlöcher vor dem Bohren untersucht werden. Dazu klappt die Erzwespe ihre Fühler nach unten und tastet den Sand-/Lehmdeckel ab, mit dem die Nistlöcher verschlossen sind. #Naturgarten #mygarden #Insekten #SchauGenauHin

31 days Rammstein challenge - Day 24 - Favorite Liebe Ist Für Alle Da song

Another day, another album, and like for the previous one Rosenrot, i don't have that strong feelings for many of the songs in particular (again, not that i dislike them..Roter sand for instance is a really interesting one too, showing Rammstein's versatility), BUT...the one that is my favorite for this album is a really really big favorite

Frühling in Paris

I think i already had the album, but it hadn't caught my attention there, and when watching the Live in Paris DVD, the quick edits was a bit exhausting by the end, but an an encore to that DVD (or i'm completely mistaken) there was this song, and O! M! G!

I've tried to watch as many versions as i could find, and my favorite ones are these two, both from the concerts in Paris in 2012, two nights in a row.

In one Richard comes in off-key i think (i think Paul grimaces swiftly because he hears it too 😊), but both performances are so great, the start with Olli on acoustic guitar, then Flake joining with a lovely gentle sound, Till's amazing voice

...and then the others powering in, Schneider's drums, the wall of guitars, building that sound as a background for Till's voice and the audience joining in ❤️

In think in the 2017 tour they played this song too in one (maybe more than one) of the French concerts, but i think the sequence with just Olli, Flake and Till was longer, and Schneider and the guitarists just joined in for the last chorus, and that lost a little bit of the ❤️ for me

In the 2019 and 2022 tours they didn't do it anymore afaik, who knows if they'd bring it back in 2023 for the french shows...🤞
