#310 黑麻三寶 The choir by John&Fish Via Flickr: 76 x 65 cm Dear Flickr friends, you are very welcome to hear some of my piano composition . 黑冠麻鷺．攝於台灣 台北市 草山 Malayan Night Heron, taken at Yangmingshan, Taipei City, TAIWAN 小麻鷺在細長脖子硬直後，白色的羽絨就開始慢慢變黑，那天正午本來到陽明山前山公園是去拍台灣藍鵲的，卻無意間看到這巢三隻嗷嗷待哺的小麻鷺在巢中等待親鳥回來餵食，就在親鳥回巢時，三隻小傢伙不約而同地張大嘴巴似乎喊著「我先！我先！」，那難得的一致表情，與努力高歌的唱詩班小朋友如出一轍。 Three baby herons greeted their mother eagerly, for they knew she brought food home. Their concentration could not have been higher than that of those singing at the Choir.

Easter Island (Rapa Nui) is a Chilean island in the southeastern Pacific Ocean, at the southeasternmost point of the Polynesian Triangle. The island is famous for its 887 extant monumental statues, called moai, created by the early Rapa Nui people. In 1995, UNESCO named Easter Island a World Heritage Site, with much of the island protected within Rapa Nui National Park. Polynesian people most likely settled here sometime between 700 to 1100 CE, and created a thriving and industrious culture as evidenced by the island's numerous enormous stone moai and other artifacts. However, human activity, the introduction of the Polynesian rat and overpopulation led to gradual deforestation and extinction of natural resources which severely weakened the Rapa Nui civilization. By the time of European arrival in 1722, the island's population had dropped to 2,000-3,000 from an estimated high of approx. 15,000 just a century earlier. European diseases and Peruvian slave raiding in the 1860s further reduced the population, to a low of only 111 inhabitants in 1877. Easter Island is one of the most remote inhabited islands in the world. The nearest inhabited land (around 50 residents in 2013) is Pitcairn Island, 2,075 km away; the nearest town with a population over 500 is Rikitea, on the island of Mangareva, 2,606 km away; the nearest continental point lies just in central Chile, 3,512 km away. Easter Island is a special territory of Chile that was annexed in 1888. According to the 2012 Chilean census, the island has about 5,800 residents, of which some 60% are descendants of the aboriginal Rapa Nui.
