The first concert I ever attended was a performance by the Pointer Sisters at the now-defunct Polaroid Corporation’s 50th anniversary gala in 1987, put on for employees and their families (my dad worked for Polaroid for most of his career), hosted by Steve Allen and held at Boston College Stadium. About halfway through Jump, skydivers landed in the stadium. No such luck last night in Copley Square (and would be quite a feat due to its proximity to the 60 story John Hancock Tower), but 13 year old me thought it was about the coolest thing ever. I met Ruth Pointer last year at her book signing and told her about it, she told me that she remembered thinking it was pretty cool too. #pointersisters #boston #copleysquare #ruthpointer (at Copley Square)

Fresh in the mail! ‘Fairytale: the Pointer Sisters’ Family Story’ by Anita Pointer and Fritz Pointer, the latter a Pointer brother. I got it to satisfy my thirst for music trivia knowledge, but a couple chapters in and it’s already much more...
