Tumblr media
so, single father can't connect to daughter bc he has to juggle being a single father, having a regular day job, and a more risky night job where i'm thinking he's one of those organized crime "freelance" medics? (every time i think underground criminal tie doctor i instantly think of that guy from drrr!! which BTW does... do people still consider drrr!! a classic, i--)
a whole lot of conversations of 'mom never forgot [insert]!' or 'mom would always [insert]!' because she used to live with her mother but her mother passed tragically somehow, and now this sad guy has to (unfortunately for her) step in; former regular doctor but fell out of grace after losing a patient maybe and his shit about it, maybe he got blamed for the death of someone very important, so he's now just a regular barista somewhere EXCEPT you don't need a medical license if you're patching up criminals, you just need the skills, so guess what he got dragged in to!!!
his daughter is, like... 13 which is ofc the perfect age for such a sudden life-altering event to impact you at (sarcasm ofc), so yeah, FUN STUFF! he's, like, in his early 30s somewhere, so obviously they had her very young (listen, if you have kids at 20 that's... that's young to me, i'm turning 25 in two months and i've only recently began to let 'i'm an adult' set in properly, idk) which might have been part of the reason behind splitting in the first place, because they did split very early on, most likely high-school sweethearts who thought they'd had it all figured out except lmao

EMEA MARKETING: European Enterprise
European Enterprise SEO: Navigating a Multilingual Marketplace
In today's digital age, visibility is king. For European enterprises, navigating the diverse and complex landscape of online search requires a unique approach to Search Engine Optimization (SEO). This essay will explore the key considerations and best practices for successful European Enterprise SEO, highlighting the challenges and opportunities specific to this region.
A Multiplicity of Markets: The European Union (EU) boasts 27 member states, each with its own language, culture, and search engine nuances. Targeting this multifaceted market necessitates a multilingual strategy. Optimizing content, meta descriptions, and website architecture for each relevant language is crucial for organic reach across borders. Tools like hreflang tags and geotargeting can guide search engines towards the appropriate language version for each user.
Cultural Nuances: Beyond language, cultural sensitivities play a significant role. Understanding local humor, traditions, and preferences is essential for crafting content that resonates with target audiences. Keyword research, competitor analysis, and collaboration with native speakers are vital steps to ensure culturally appropriate and effective SEO messaging.
Regulatory Maze: The EU enforces strict data privacy regulations like the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which adds another layer of complexity to SEO practices. Enterprises must ensure their SEO strategies comply with these regulations, requiring careful consideration of data collection, user consent, and cookie usage.
Local Search Optimization: While global visibility is vital, local search dominance can be a game-changer. Optimizing for local listings on Google Maps and other platforms increases the chances of appearing in searches for nearby businesses. This involves claiming and verifying local listings, managing online reviews, and incorporating location-specific keywords into content.
Mobile-First Mindset: Europe boasts a high mobile internet penetration rate, making mobile-friendliness paramount. Enterprises must ensure their websites are optimized for mobile devices, offering a seamless user experience across all platforms. Responsive design, fast loading speeds, and user-friendly navigation are key factors for mobile SEO success.
Embrace Multilingual Link Building: Backlinks remain a critical ranking factor. Building high-quality links from relevant websites in various European languages strengthens domain authority and improves search engine visibility across borders. Collaborations with industry influencers, guest blogging on reputable websites, and participating in online communities can help secure valuable backlinks.
Investing in Expertise: Considering the intricacies of European Enterprise SEO, partnering with skilled professionals can be highly beneficial. Agencies or consultants specializing in this domain can provide tailored strategies, navigate regulatory hurdles, and offer ongoing support for maximizing online visibility.
Conclusion: European Enterprise SEO demands a multifaceted approach that acknowledges linguistic diversity, cultural nuances, and regulatory frameworks. By adopting a multilingual strategy, prioritizing local search dominance, and adhering to mobile-first principles, businesses can unlock the vast potential of the European online market. Additionally, collaborating with SEO experts can significantly enhance chances of success in this dynamic and competitive landscape. Remember, navigating the European digital landscape requires adaptability, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to best practices. By embracing these principles, European enterprises can leverage the power of SEO to achieve sustainable growth and brand recognition across the continent.

What objections would you actually accept to AI?
Roughly in order of urgency, at least in my opinion:
Problem 1: Curation
The large tech monopolies have essentially abandoned curation and are raking in the dough by monetizing the process of showing you crap you don't want.
The YouTube content farm; the Steam asset flip; SEO spam; drop-shipped crap on Etsy and Amazon.
AI makes these pernicious, user hostile practices even easier.
Problem 2: Economic disruption
This has a bunch of aspects, but key to me is that *all* automation threatens people who have built a living on doing work. If previously difficult, high skill work suddenly becomes low skill, this is economically threatening to the high skill workers. Key to me is that this is true of *all* work, independent of whether the work is drudgery or deeply fulfilling. Go automate an Amazon fulfillment center and the employees will not be thanking you.
There's also just the general threat of existing relationships not accounting for AI, in terms of, like, residuals or whatever.
Problem 3: Opacity
Basically all these AI products are extremely opaque. The companies building them are not at all transparent about the source of their data, how it is used, or how their tools work. Because they view the tools as things they own whose outputs reflect on their company, they mess with the outputs in order to attempt to ensure that the outputs don't reflect badly on their company.
These processes are opaque and not communicated clearly or accurately to end users; in fact, because AI text tools hallucinate, they will happily give you *fake* error messages if you ask why they returned an error.
There's been allegations that Mid journey and Open AI don't comply with European data protection laws, as well.
There is something that does bother me, too, about the use of big data as a profit center. I don't think it's a copyright or theft issue, but it is a fact that these companies are using public data to make a lot of money while being extremely closed off about how exactly they do that. I'm not a huge fan of the closed source model for this stuff when it is so heavily dependent on public data.
Problem 4: Environmental maybe? Related to problem 3, it's just not too clear what kind of impact all this AI stuff is having in terms of power costs. Honestly it all kind of does something, so I'm not hugely concerned, but I do kind of privately think that in the not too distant future a lot of these companies will stop spending money on enormous server farms just so that internet randos can try to get Chat-GPT to write porn.
Problem 5: They kind of don't work
Text programs frequently make stuff up. Actually, a friend pointed out to me that, in pulp scifi, robots will often say something like, "There is an 80% chance the guards will spot you!"
If you point one of those AI assistants at something, and ask them what it is, a lot of times they just confidently say the wrong thing. This same friend pointed out that, under the hood, the image recognition software is working with probabilities. But I saw lots of videos of the Rabbit AI assistant thing confidently being completely wrong about what it was looking at.
Chat-GPT hallucinates. Image generators are unable to consistently produce the same character and it's actually pretty difficult and unintuitive to produce a specific image, rather than a generic one.
This may be fixed in the near future or it might not, I have no idea.
Problem 6: Kinetic sameness.
One of the subtle changes of the last century is that more and more of what we do in life is look at a screen, while either sitting or standing, and making a series of small hand gestures. The process of writing, of producing an image, of getting from place to place are converging on a single physical act. As Marshall Macluhan pointed out, driving a car is very similar to watching TV, and making a movie is now very similar, as a set of physical movements, to watching one.
There is something vaguely unsatisfying about this.
Related, perhaps only in the sense of being extremely vague, is a sense that we may soon be mediating all, or at least many, of our conversations through AI tools. Have it punch up that email when you're too tired to write clearly. There is something I find disturbing about the idea of communication being constantly edited and punched up by a series of unrelated middlemen, *especially* in the current climate, where said middlemen are large impersonal monopolies who are dedicated to opaque, user hostile practices.
Given all of the above, it is baffling and sometimes infuriating to me that the two most popular arguments against AI boil down to "Transformative works are theft and we need to restrict fair use even more!" and "It's bad to use technology to make art, technology is only for boring things!"

Are Meg Markle and Harry Making Money Off Invictus without Donating Any Back? by u/somespeculation
Are Meg Markle and Harry Making Money Off Invictus without Donating Any Back? Notice in Archewell’s 2022 990 Harry and Meg didn’t donate to Invictus? Although Harry is often listed as the ‘Founder’, keep in mind the Invictus Games launched with full support and resources from Palace staff back in 2014. Including the Queen’s support. It appears to have been a ‘purpose project’ created for Harry based off the US Warrior Games. https://www.royal.uk/invictus-gameshttps://www.royal.uk/speech-hrh-prince-harry-closing-ceremony-invictus-games-londonIt’s plausible Invictus has likely been paying all their expenses, for the last few years (like an appearance fee, hotels, wardrobe, meals, flights, etc). Think about how they’ve been very, very visible at the 2020 Games in the Netherlands (held in 2022 due to covid postponements), and the recent ones in Germany (2023). Different that Harry’s opening/closing speeches and keeping the focus on the athletes from when the Games were run pre-Meg. Notice as well Archewell’s staff attended both Games post Megxit (which also theoretically means items could be expensed via Archewell without details being available on a 990, hypothetically of course).Harry and Meg got to exploit the 2022 Games to make their own money from via Netflix’s Heart of Invictus. This was to partially fulfill their Netflix contract as the only content they released in 2023. BetterUp also gained a lucrative contract with Invictus in 2022, renewed again in 2023. https://ift.tt/eIhD59u there is controversy with the next Games Harry and Meg were flown up to Vancouver to promote (or shift the SEO results, if one is being PR cynical). Two C-level positions (CEO and CCO) were just let go with the upcoming Whistler Games already due to overspending. This includes the combined $30 million of taxpayer dollars from the Canadian federal and provincial governments. And unlike the European locations, where more needed to be done for physical logistics, the Vancouver/Whistler location was specifically chosen as the Games will be using the infrastructure already in place from the Olympics. https://ift.tt/aq8im4K and Meg are literally making money off Invictus, and potentially spending Invictus funds without donating anything back. post link: https://ift.tt/PWFyN5w author: somespeculation submitted: December 12, 2023 at 09:35PM via SaintMeghanMarkle on Reddit

I Hate You Darling
Chapter 1 : Journalist from South Korea
____________________________________________
Tumblr media Tumblr media
____________________________________________
A beautiful woman who had just turned 28 years old had just woke up from a deep sleep, when she heard the sound of her cell phone's alarm. Her hand felt on the nightstand near her bed. After she managed to reach her cell phone, she immediately took it and got up and turned off the alarm.
After waking up, the woman lazily went straight to the bathroom to wash her face, brush her teeth and straighten her hair. She then went to the kitchen to make breakfast. While making breakfast someone called her on her cell phone, and she immediately picked it up.
"Hello?."
"Hello, Mrs. Han Seo-ah. Can you stop by the office for a moment? There is a work you have to do."
The women named Seo-ah only said yes to her boss who was on the other side of the phone. After her boss was satisfied enough to hear that she was going to the office soon, he immediately ended the phone call unilaterally.
Seo-ah continue her cooking activities. After the food was ready, she brought a plate of Kimbab and Gaji namul onto the dining table. When the food he makes will be eaten. Her cell phone rang again, but this time it wasn't from her boss but from her husband. Seo-ah didn't care and immediately rejected the call and started eating her cooking.
After finishing her breakfast, Seo-ah washed her eating utensils. After washing, she returned to her room to start preparing to go to the office.
♤♤♤
After finishing preparing. Seo-ah went to the bus waiting area in the middle of the city, she went to work by riding that transportation. While waiting while playing with his cellphone, a large television on display in the city center showed news about the no.1 footballer named Noel Noa.
Seo-ah stared for a moment at the giant television with an annoyed look then looked back at her cell phone screen, until finally the bus came and Seo-ah immediately got into the bus. While on the bus, a message came in on her cell phone. When she looked at it, it appeared to a message box from her husband.
Cyborg Bastard
•「Dear how are you, are you okay? How is your work? Is everything going smoothly? You haven't reply my message for the past year」
Seo-ah looked at her cellphone screen which displayed the message her husband had sent with an annoyed look. Again, she didn't care and immediately turned off her cell phone.
Not long after, the bus she was riding finally arrived in front of a television station building which usually shows various events in the world of sports. Such as matches in various sports fields or latest news about top sports athletes.
Seo-ah immediately walked into the large building and went straight to her superior room by taking the elevator. When she arrived on the eighth floor, Seo-ah superior room was located. She immediately stepped out of the elevator as soon as the elevator door opened.
Seo-ah then went to her superior's room. Arriving at the entrance to the room, her superior knocked on the door.
"Come in." Said the voice of a man who already fifty-two years old. After getting permission, she immediately opened the door and went inside.
"Oh, Mrs. Han Seo-ah. You finally came, sat in the empty chair in front of me."
Seo-ah immediately sat down in an empty chair without being asked twice. "So what job will you give me?" She ask.
Her boss sipped his coffee for a moment then answered, "The job is quite easy. You just need to go to Japan and start covering the League Neo Egoist, whose match is currently taking place."
"Why do I have to cover that match, the match only tests potential young footballers in Japan. It's better if you give me the task of covering the daily lives of players who are in the best European clubs at the moment."
Her boss just sighed. "Yes, I know. But you know, our TV station's rating is currently being rated as bad by viewers and people. They think that our TV station hasn't been showing matches in various sports fields lately. We've actually been This time the focus is more on highlighting the daily lives of athletes."
"Whatever the reason, I don't want to cover that match" Seo-ah said.
Her superior immediately glared at her. "Mrs. Han. Please, this is for the good name and rating of this TV station. You are the main asset of this television station because of your skills in compiling news reports. So please, I want you to do this. Who else should I ask for help?."
Seo-ah finally gave in and finally she agreed to take on this task. After all she was doing this for a paycheck.
"Good. possibility, you can fly straight to Japan in five days. I will book a plane ticket to Japan for you, and I will also inform the Blue Lock program manager about this."
.
.
.
.
.
After finishing discussing with the boss for two minutes, Seo-ah finally left the room. While walking past where the other employees were working, some of them looked at Seo-ah while whispering. "Is that the woman named Seo-ah?."
"Yes, that's her."
"I heard she married a footballer."
"That's impossible. Moreover, the footballer also denied that rumors."
Seo-ah didn't care about the whispers that came out of the staff's mouths, and continued walking out of the building where she worked. Then Seo-ah returned home to her apartment by getting into a taxi. When she arrived at her destination, the woman changed clothes and took her tablet to search for information about the Blue Lock program and the Neo Egoist League on the internet.
While browsing the contents of an internet site that reported about Blue Lok, she accidentally found a site that reported about professional football players who were selected as coaches. Seo-ah's index finger pressed the screen until the site page opened, When the page opened, her gray eyes saw the names of famous football strikers who were coaches at Blue Lock.
Her eyes continued to trace every paragraph of the site's text, until her eyes saw the name Noel Noa written on it. Seo-ah immediately got up from the sofa with a surprised look.
"So that bastard became a coach? It's better that I don't go there than that I have to meet him. But if I don't go there... I won't get a salary."
Seo-ah threw the tab on the sofa and turned on her cellphone which had been turned off for a long time. When it was turned on, Seo-ah immediately saw many notifications of telephone calls from her husband.
Seo-ah sighed and placed her cell phone on the table in front of her. Then he decided to sleep upstairs to rest after working overtime for three months. While she was asleep, her husband sent her another message notification.
.
.
.
.
.
A man continues to stare at his cellphone as if waiting for a reply to his message. "Is she still in her office?."
"Are you still not asleep yet? Mr. no.1" Ego said, he is the manager and trainer in Blue Lock. He was also Noa's former teammate ten years ago. Or rather his rival.
"No. I'm still not sleepy yet." Noa then turned off his cell phone and put it back in his jesrey jacket pocket.
"Oh, yes Noa. Earlier Anri received a call from the CEO of the TV station South Korea where your wife work. He said Seo-ah would come here in five days."
Noa, who heard that, felt happy when he heard that his wife would come here, but his flat face tried to hide his joy. "When she come you have to show your skills in front of your wife."
Ego patted Noa's broad shoulder then just walked away while waving his hand until he was out of sight. Noa opened his cellphone again, and on the screen lock there was a photo of Seo-ah wearing a straw hat summer on her head, and wearing a black swimsuit.
Noa smiled faintly when he looked at his wife photo. "Honey. I will wait for you" then his finger rubbed Seo-ah's face in the photo.

BIRDS OF SPAIN: European Bee-eater. Thrush-sized colorful bird. It migrates, so it can be seen in Europe during the summer, when it nests in sandy walls. Insectivore, catches bugs while flying.
---
I've decided to start a series of study-drawings with the birds you can see in Spain. I just like birds a lot. The information about the birds comes from SEO's (Spanish Society of Ornithology) website. Also, I'm alive.

RECENT SEO & MARKETING NEWS FOR ECOMMERCE, JULY 2024
Tumblr media
If you are new to my Tumblr, I usually do these summaries of SEO and marketing news once a month, picking out the pieces that are most likely to be useful to small and micro-businesses.
You can get notified of these updates plus my website blog posts via email: http://bit.ly/CindyLouWho2Blog or get all of the most timely updates plus exclusive content by supporting my Patreon: patreon.com/CindyLouWho2
TOP NEWS & ARTICLES
There is a relatively new way to file copyright claims against US residents, called The Copyright Claims Board (CCB). I wrote more here [post by me on Patreon]
After a few years of handwringing and false starts, Google is abandoning plans to block third-party cookies in Chrome. Both Safari and Firefox already block them.
When composing titles and text where other keywords are found, it can be useful to have a short checklist of the types of keywords you need, as this screenshot demonstrates. While that title is too long for most platforms and search engines, it covers really critical points that should get mentioned in the product description and keyword fields/tags as well:
The core keywords that describe the item
What the customer is looking to do - solve a problem? Find a gift? Feel better?
What makes the product stand out in its field - why buy this instead of something else? Differentiating your items is something that should come before you get to the listing stage, so the keywords should already be in your head.
Relevant keywords that will be used in long tail searches are always great add-ons.
What if anything about your item is trendy now? E.g., sustainability? Particular colours, styles or materials/ingredients are always important.
SEO: GOOGLE & OTHER SEARCH ENGINES
Google’s June spam update has finished rolling out. And here is the full list of Google news from June.
Expect a new Google core update “in the coming weeks” (as if we needed more Google excitement).
Google’s AI overviews continue to dwindle at the top of search results, now only appearing in 7% of searches.
Despite Google trying to target AI spam, many poorly-copied articles still outrank the originals in Google search results.
Internal links are important for Google SEO. While this article covers blogging in particular, most of the tips apply to any standalone website. Google also recently did a video [YouTube] on the same topic.
Google had a really excellent second quarter, mostly due to the cloud and AI.
Not Google
OpenAI is testing SearchGPT with a small number of subscribers. Alphabet shares dropped 3% after the announcement.
SOCIAL MEDIA - All Aspects, By Site
General
New social media alert: noplace is a new app billed as MySpace for Gen Z that also has some similarities with Twitter (e.g., text-based chats, with no photos or videos at this time). iOS only at the moment; no Android app or web page.
Thinking of trying out Bluesky? Here are some tips to get the most out of it.
Facebook (includes relevant general news from Meta)
Meta’s attempt at circumventing EU privacy regulations through paid subscriptions is illegal under the Digital Markets Act, according to the European Commission. “if the company cannot reach an agreement with regulators before March 2025, the Commission has the power to levy fines of up to 10 percent of the company’s global turnover.”
If you post Reels from a business page, you may be able to let Meta use AI to do A/B testing on the captions and other portions shown. I personally would not do this unless I could see what options they were choosing, since AI is often not as good as it thinks it is.
Apple’s 30% fee on in-app ad purchases for Facebook and Instagram has kicked in worldwide as of July 1.
Facebook is testing ads in the Notifications list on the app.
Meta is encouraging advertisers to connect their Google Analytics accounts to Meta Ads, claiming “integration could improve campaign performance, citing a 22% conversion increase.”
Instagram
The head of Instagram is still emphasizing that the number of DM shares per post is a huge ranking factor.
LinkedIn
Another article on the basics of setting up LinkedIn and getting found through it.
You can now advertise your LinkedIn newsletters on the platform.
Pinterest
Pinterest is slowly testing an AI program that edits the background of product photography without changing the product.
Is Pinterest dying? An investment research firm thinks so.
Reddit
If you want to see results from Reddit in your search engine results, Google is the only place that can happen now.
More than ever, Reddit is being touted as a way to be found (especially in Google search), but you do have to understand how the site works to be successful at it.
Snapchat
Snapchat+ now has 9 million paying users, and they are getting quite a few new personalization updates, and Snaps that last 50 seconds or less.
Threads
Threads has hit 175 million active users each month, up from 130 million in February.
TikTok
TikTok has made it easier to reuse your videos outside of the site without a watermark.
TikTok users can now select a custom thumbnail image for videos, either a frame from the clip itself, or a still image from elsewhere.
Twitter
You can opt out of Twitter using your posts as data for its AI, Grok.
YouTube
YouTube has new tools for Shorts, including one that makes your longer videos into Shorts.
Community Spaces are the latest YouTube test to try to get more fan involvement, while moving users away from video comments.
(CONTENT) MARKETING (includes blogging, emails, and strategies)
Start your content marketing plans for August now, including back-to-school themes and Alfred Hitchcock’s birthday on August 13.
ONLINE ADVERTISING (EXCEPT INDIVIDUAL SOCIAL MEDIA AND ECOMMERCE SITES)
Google Ads now have several new updates, including blocking misspellings.
Google’s new Merchant Center Next will soon be available for all users, if they haven’t already been invited. Supplemental feeds are now (or soon will be) allowed there.
STATS, DATA, TRACKING
Google Search Console users can now add their shipping and return info to Google search through the Console itself. This is useful for sites that do not pay for Google Ads or use Google’s free shopping ads.
BUSINESS & CONSUMER TRENDS, STATS & REPORTS; SOCIOLOGY & PSYCHOLOGY, CUSTOMER SERVICE
The second part of this Whiteboard Friday [video with transcript] discusses how consumer behaviour is changing during tight economic times. “People are still spending. They just want the most for their money. Also, the consideration phase is much more complex and longer.” The remainder of the piece discusses how to approach your target market during these times.
Prime Day was supposedly the best ever for Amazon, but they didn’t release any numbers. Adobe Analytics tracked US ecommerce sales on those days and provides some insight. “Buy-now, pay-later accounted for 7.6% of all orders, a 16.4% year-over-year increase.”
MISCELLANEOUS
You know how I always tell small business owners to have multiple revenue streams? Tech needs to have multiple providers and backups as well, as the recent CrowdStrike and Microsoft issues demonstrate.
If you used Google’s old URL shortener anywhere, those links will no longer redirect as of August 25 2024.
