The Timeline ™️
ok i made notes when reading the books to make a timeline because… i had to
just note that the show moved the TL up like 2 years
Book TL:
Pre Book 1:
Black mountains training Spider was 24
Year before book 1 Spider and River inseparable.
@saulbetter addition: river and spider are the same age. the 'inseparable' for a year doesn't specify if that was in training or already working at the Park (the training exercise was an 'upgrade assessment'). spider took a 'graduate route' to become Mi5 which is mentioned to take two years (I assume this includes all of training). in book 1 spider is described as 'under 30', so mid-late twenties?
Book 1: October. evidence: Sid joined “2 months ago in august”. River has been at SH for 8months 2weeks and 4 days. Making Kings Cross february ish.
Book 2: early to end April, a “few months after” last book. River is in Upshott for 3 weeks.
Book 3: August, a year since the last book. Heavily implied to be 2015 from Donovans timeline.
Book 4: January 2-6th. A “few months” since last book.
———
SHOW TL:
Pre season 1:
Spiders Monitor in 1x01 of the fiasco training exercise says July 20- if we go by the books “8 months in SH” thing Stansted was probably in June 2015
Season 1- February 2016
“Its February!”-Struan
Season 2- Late August 2016
Summer vibes (ice cream/fans)
Dickie's Coroners report say 22nd August 2016
Min’s plaque says 2016
Season 3- August 16-17th 2017
CCTV in 3x02 says 2017-08-17
River's watch shows the date as 17
"Waste and Recycling info 2017/18" Flyer on Louisa's fridge 3x01
Season 4- January 2-6 2018
January 2nd: Westacres
The Incident happens the night of the 4th
False ID, Les Arbes, Return journey, all happen on 5th
Cold Bodies were created “28 years ago”. River is born in 1990–making him 27/8.

Richmond weird/funny interview idea.
I was going to write this as a fic but then realised I would have to try to figure out how y'all do awards shows and what they are called and gave right up.
So in AFL (Australian football), we have this awards night for the best player in the league that year and most of the other big awards (called the brownlow). It basically means all the biggest players in the league come together to this award ceremony. And on the red carpet, they do interviews and stuff for radio and tv. Pretty normal stuff. Most the time, it's what are you wearing, how do you think your year has been, who do you think will win blah blah. But there is this one segment a radio station came up with entitled 'sh*t brownlow questions', and the interviewer just asks completely random and stupid questions for fun. And it's hilarious because these players are just so out of depth with the random questions.
Now I cant get a Richmond version out of my head.
Like they go to an awards show, all dressed to the nines and there is some interviewer there who decides to ask random questions for entertainemnt on his channel, when all the guys are expecting the usual questions and it starts of pretty well and funny
Interviewer: Hey Dani, just a quick question. Would you rather fight 1 Isaac McAdoo sized duck or 100 duck sized Isaac McAdoo's?
Dani in his chipper demeanour: oh I wouldn't want to fight any version of Issac at all he is such a great guy, and I love him....
Dani suddenly going serious and grabbing the mic and looking straight down the camera: But if I had to chose, I would go 1 duck sized Isaac because 100 tiny Isaac's would be too many Isaac's, they would completly overwhelm you and tear you apart!
Interviewer: Hey Colin, just wondering do you do your tax returns as soon as you can or wait until just before the cut off date?
Colin going pale: oh no. When are the tax returns due? I don't know when the last time I did my taxes was......
Interviewer asking like this is going to be a football question: Hey Sam, we are getting to the serious end of the season now so I was was just wondering, who do you think will win..... this seasons Lust Conquers All?
Sam with his serious face at the beggining of the question laughing by the end: Oh Janet for sure but I think I would be a amiss if I didn't mention Jamie was robbed last season.
Interviewer: Hey Roy, just wondering.....
Roy barley glancing at him as he walks past: Nope not doing it, f**k off.
Interviewer: Hey Richard, so the big one is coming up, Wembley Stadium, 90 000 people, just wondering........ did you manage to get Taylor Swift tickets?
Richard without blinking: Yes, yes I did.
Any question asked of Ted, Ted is just ecstatic, takes it 100% seriously, and is generally happy to answer.
The interviewer joking pulls out a cross word from the paper and asks for some help from Beard. Two minutes later, he has a completed crossword, and he just looks at it in astonishment.
Then the interview goes off the rails a little.
The Interviewer asks Jamie a random queation about history but instead of stumping him Jamie lights up and peoceeds to give an in-depth answer with alarming detail and the interview now knows more than he ever needed to on the subject. (This makes Roy even more unhappy because Jamie is now going to 100% talk his ear off about this for the rest of the night, just info dumping on him. Let be real he secretly loves it)
Interviewer: Hey Moe, just wondering if you had an opinion on the election in (insert random country here, most people wouldn't know about the elections of).
Moe: automatically goes into lecture mode about democracy and the evil's of government  and gets so passionate and loud aftet 5 minutes of it Issac needs to come and save the reporter who eyes are as wide as saucers and is questiong everything.
Like, I can just imagine the chaos of the AFC and their personalities in a segment like this. The fans would go crazy for it, too

Do you have an analysis to She Got Away?
Thank you for this question. I think if she got away as a Haylor song that had some details changed to make it a generic 1D song.
It is likely from February 2014 - fans first posted it was registered in November 2014 (after it didn’t appear on Four), although the band recorded it. While making WTNY and I Know Places with Taylor in Conway Studios he also saw Harry there (Four was in production)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ryan has specified at least 4 other writing meetings with them:
29 January 2012 - W hotel in Westwood LA - to Zach Sang, that sounded early. 1D stayed at the W in 2012. No mention of a song just annoyed about the similar band names.
19 April 2013 - Manchester - to Capital FM - Right Now (OneRepublic was in London, One Direction in Manchester and Midnight Memories was in production. ...also after that date is when he went back to the US to get the Peace ring and Taylor wrote I Wish You Would). He says he wrote 'something else with one of them' presumably Harry as Right Now refers to CBBH and Harry loved it.
February 2014 - Conway Studios LA - to New York Post 2019 - when Taylor and Harry were there. The rest of the band was in the UK. I think this is when She Got Away was likely written. Harry wrote it with Ryan Tedder and Noel Zancanella, both who worked on Welcome to NY. Ryan also said he saw Harry and Taylor at the studio then (I know places & welcome to NY from the same sessions, we also know Harry was there when JABOYH was written while hanging around Conway in January 2014. Style, Shake it off were also recorded then. It’s widely reported this song was for Four, fan first posted about it being registered in November 2014 after Four released without it.
London hotel - to Ryan Seacrest - Solo Harry, he talked about him traveling with no entourage.

She Got Away Lyrics
Jennie in She got Away seems like a composite rather than an actual person. She is enigmatic, contradictory and mysterious. She is very much of the Diana/Georgia Rose archetype who is a vessel that 1D's fans could see themselves in or aspire to be. Harry's love of older music is clear, it's very Bob Dylan-inspired storytelling through characters, wandering and the places named.
Verse One: Liam & Harry] I met this girl the other night On the streets of New Orleans She said I'm trying to find myself On the run from Tennessee She had a diamond in one ear And patches on her jeans Oh yeah, oh yeah, the girl she got to me
The first verse reminds me of Taylor in the 'On the run from Tennessee' especially if the song is written in the same session as Welcome to New York, she was on the run from country music, the success of Red and her home of Tennessee.
The 'Diamond in one ear and patches on her jeans 'is a perfect description for this transitional era of Taylor - on the success of her last Country-pop album singing about moving to New York for a complete pop album. This line is very much Taylor at that time. It is a brilliant line as it works for the 1D listener who is an evolving young woman.
Jennie has a way with words Yeah, she always speaks in quotes She said that she ain't ever Met a man like me before She told me she just won a trip to Mexico Oh yeah, oh yeah On the radio Oh yeah, oh yeah Someday she will go
She has a way with words is a girl who writes, speaks in quotes is someone who writes heavily in references and metaphor... sounds like someone we know. 'She said she ain't never met a man like me before / she won a trip to Mexico' this sounds like the intended listener is fan fiction writers, coming up with the scenario where they meet Harry.
The 'never met anyone like me' line to me has me wondering how many of Taylor's Exes would come back to the studio to hear her next album be recorded and spend days collaborating on writing love songs about her while she does.. I think that's still a list of 1.
[Chorus: All] When I close my eyes I swear that I can see her Then they open wide And she’s a world away And I swear she’s mine So does every man who meets her Oh yeah, oh yeah She’s the girl that got away Oh yeah, oh yeah But she’s coming back someday
The chorus has Harry and the muse separated by the world, he is dreaming of her, it fits nicely with the fanfiction listener. There's a nice call out to 'half the world away'.
The 'so does every man who meets her' reminds me of Fool's Gold's 'you turn it on for everyone you meet' but here it is loving. And a nice 'she's coming back someday' adorable for writing this the same week as Style's 'Everytime we crash down we come back again'
[Verse Two: Harry & Niall] Jennie likes a coffee late at night It helps her sleep She doesn't cook but She's got a million recipes She's got a tattoo Doesn't know what it means Oh yeah, oh yeah When she was with me
Coffee late at night - need I say more?? The sleep also is a nice call back to Little Things. Jennie is chaotic and sounds hyperproductive... yeah...
The tattoo is cute, a clear 'not Taylor or anyone he'd dated.' unless the tattoo is on him and she doesn't know who it was for. 'when she was with me'
[Bridge: All] What I feel, what I feel, I feel for her Ain't going away What I feel, what I feel, I feel for her Ain't going away What I feel, what I feel, I feel for her Ain't going away What I feel, what I feel, I feel for her Feel for her, feel for her
The bridge is a nice resolution, Harry has made a decision he is committed. It is so much more hopeful than JALBOYH and WDBHG from the same sessions.

Sebastian x Ciel 🥀❤️‍🔥🖤💖🌹👄 Astrology analysis (Synastry) Part 1a ✨🔮🌌
Tumblr media
*⚠️Non Shippers PLEASE IGNORE MY POST AND STAY OUT! I don't want your negativity in my blog! If you don't like it, then don't engage with it...as simple as that!!⚠️*
I wanted to make a really unique, fun and interesting post related to sebaxciel. I have been studying astrology for the past 8 years now and I can tell you that its not a joke and actually can be very somewhat creepy like how do they know about me so much like wtf! stop exposing me!💀 Astrology is very vast and very in depth knowledge if you want to look at it further. So I thought why not lets make a synastry and composite chart about seba x ciel and how their relationship dynamic works astrologically and how their relationship is still evolving. I have also made their numerology chart and its fun! (I'm still learning astrology and numerology , so if I make any mistakes please kindly correct me!)
Out of my curiosity I just wanted to look at Seba x Ciel 's synastry, composite and numerology chart report and analysis and BOY !!!! I WAS SH👀K !! LIKE WTF!!! HOW!?!? HOW CAN THIS BE 💯% ACCURATE!! Now its giving me creepy vibes like did Yana purposefully picked their birthdays ?!?!? SO HERE I AM BLOGGING THIS ✨ ASTROLOGICAL MIRACLE ✨ and you are reading it!! GET READY TO GET SH👀K !! CAUSE YOU KNOW SHARING IS CARING!!
In this Part 1, I will only discuss about the planetary and asteroid Synastry aspects ( synastry chart means that you take 2 different people's chart and superimpose it on top of each other to see how 2 different people act with each other between their relationship dynamic ) ( this part 1 is getting really really long, so I decided to break it down into many mini parts ( like part 1 a,b,c..I don't even know how many mini sub parts of part 1 I will write, but it is more than 2 ) , Its like writing an AO3 ...you can never stop writing lmao! In part 2 I will go further into the Synastry and the details of the House placements and how the house overlays gives their relationship dynamic more definition! Part 3 and Part 4 will be based on composite charts! ( composite chart means you combine 2 different people's chart to see how they work together as a team or as a 1 person ) Part 5 will be about Numerology and if I'm able to find out more interesting astrological facts about them then I may make part 6 ( mostly Natal analysis )...I'm gonna expose everything about SebaxCiel dynamic and their real personality and how their relationship works and how its evolving and what do we expect to see in the future especially in the manga chapters! *EXCITED*
The birthdays, time and location I used :
Sebastian : 18th January, 1886 ( 6:30 am ) London,UK
( I was extremely skeptical about Sebby's date, however after doing lots of research and some analysis, I have come up with this birthday as it is very accurate...at least I tried to make it accurate! , also I used this bd for sebby because whenever a demon a manifested in this 3d human realm, it is 'reborn' again...obviously he a thousand years old I'm not using that B.C. date lmao! )
( okay I know none of them were actually exactly born in London,Uk however I do not really know where the mansions located...so I used London as a general location and England isn't that big enough like the states lol ..so it wouldn't affect the reading and analysis much at all I think! lol )
Ciel : 14th December, 1875 ( 7:30 am ) London,UK
Synastry Chart below! I'm going to explain now what planetary and asteroid aspects creates their LOVING, STEAMY , SEXY AND IRRESISTIBLE synastry !
✨ Ciel is Deep Blue and Sebastian is Deep Orange ✨
Just like their Eye colors! *GASPS* that was a coincidence! SH👀K !!
Tumblr media
✨KEY ASPECTS ✨
Their positive aspects :
Tumblr media
Their negative aspects :
Tumblr media
( these two images illustrates their dynamics of both positive and negative sides of the same coin )
I'm gonna talk about *positive aspects only ( mostly conjunctions, as trines and sextiles are very watered down version of conjunctions, its still positive though )* cause I don't wanna ruin the *rose-colored glasses* mood we all sebaxciel shippers have it on right now! I don't need to talk about *negative aspects* cause they don't really fight much...its just the power chokehold they have it on each other kinda like BDSM not physicially but psychologically and I kinda find that really really hot! *negative aspects* ( Oppositions and Squares ) aren't necessairily that bad they are just 'necessary evil' for realtionship to grow, improvise, evolve, survive and thrive . If you guys find more aspects you can reply or reblog!

Jupiter - Juno ( 👰🏻🤵🏻 ) : *HAPPILY MARRIED, THE ULTIMATE HUSBAND - WIFE DYNAMIC*
Jupiter, the planet of expansion, faith, hope, good luck, opportunity, wealth, philosophical and spiritual values and financial gains. It's also known as the Great Benefactor because it's larger than all the other planets in the solar system. Jupiter the god and husband of Juno according to the greek mythology. Juno, the asteroid of loyalty, intimate, serious and long term relationships and partnering. Juno is the goddess of marriage and protector of women, who was known for her loyalty and protection of women. Jupiter and Juno were a married couple. Juno is Jupiter's most prominent wife and is often depicted as a beautiful queen-consort. Juno is the queen of the gods and is worshipped as the protector of marriage and homemaking. Jupiter is also known for his infidelity and he had many other affairs lol.
When Jupiter and Juno tightly conjuncts in a synastry like this, both the juno and jupiter person wants to have a strong and powerful commitment towards each other. Jupiter brings happiness in juno person's life. Jupiter's optimistic approach in life boosts the ego and confidence of juno person. They both think they have found their 'ideal match' as Juno is extremely loyal, supportive and devoted to Jupiter person's interests and goals. Jupiter helps juno through expanding Juno's vision for their future goals and Juno helps Jupiter by grounding themselves in practical day to day life. Jupiter person also helps juno to succeed in careers to achieve BIG GOALS. Juno is tolerant of Jupiter just like a loyal, devoted and faithful wife!
Its a very stable and long lasting and perfect synastry for marrige! Jupiter brings out Juno’s desire for marriage and commitment in a big way. Juno wants to get married to Jupiter right away, like juno wants to make the 'OFFICIAL CONTRACT' immediately ! or Juno wants to desperately have a family with the Jupiter. Juno's characteristics is very protective, possesive, loyal and devoted in nature, and jupiter expands or amplifies juno's these qualities or characteristics on each other and jupiter can feel its effect.
According to this synastry, Sebby's Jupiter tightly conjuncts Ciel's Juno in libra. Libra is zodiac of relationships, ruled by Venus , the planet of Love, Beauty and Harmony! Their main focus would be their relationship with each other is their #1 priority! They prioritzie to make their relationship more lovely, harmonious, compatible, diplomatic, graceful and beautiful from both inside and outside. Sebby is very important for ciel's career and his BIG GOALS in life and they are both very loyal and devoted to each other. And Sebby helps Ciel by expanding Ciel's future vision and plans!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Venus - Mars ( ❤️‍🔥 🛏️👄) : *BAD BOY ON A BIKE MEETS THE SEXY VICTORIA'S SECRET MODEL, PASSIONATE, MAGNETIC AND IRRESITIBLE ATTRACTION AT 1ST SIGHT*
'Let's fuck'....This conjunction is like a ticking time bomb 💣 💥 and the explotion of the excitement would be the bed breaking session! They can't help but to get pulled by each other to do that deed...THEY LOVE TO FLIRT WITH EACH OTHER 24/7! There is no other way to describe this dynamic! Its a great synastry to have a very , BED BREAKING LOUD SEX. ( Conjunctions and Oppositions will mostly feel this, but in oppositions fights will be frequent, trine and the sextile won't be that strong ) Especially if the man is mars and the women is venus...the bed breaking session will go on all night long! their passion is just stronger..if its the other way around the 'man' in this relationship may feel emasculated or may even feel slightly uncomfortable by the women, but the passion is still there but the women might be very forceful sexually towards the man.
This synastry doesn't give enough stability for relationships to last, but this synastry is perfect for a quick fling and passionate romance. Mars, the planet of ( very masculine energy ) Aggression, Power , Temper, hot headed, SEX, impulse, War, Aries and Scorpio ruler and Fiery planet meets the Venus, ( very feminine energy ) planet of Beauty and Love, Peace, Harmony, Joy, Luxury, Riches and Diplomacy ruler of libra and taurus.
Mars can't help or stop thinking about the passion and they also want to have Venus in their life even if its for a very short fling type thrilling relationship, MARS WANTS TO HAVE THE UPPER HAND ( like controlling or owning Venus ), MARS WANTS TO MAKE THE MOVE 1st AND IMMIDIATELY AS IF VENUS IS THE SPECIAL LIMITED EDITION STUFF WHICH WON'T STAY FOREVER IN THE MARKET ! MARS WANTS TO MERGE WITH VENUS TO FEEL THE PASSION AND THE RAW BURNING DESIRE THEY CRAVE DEEP INSIDE FOR EACH OTHER. And if Venus wants Mars as well, Venus will let Mars do whatever Mars wants...venus also secretly wants to get dominated by Mars! You know the saying goes, 'Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus'..its the merging of masculine and feminine energy we are talking about.
Even if it is between platonic relationship rather than a romantic one, the 'platonic' friends will still feel some tension...and their other friends might notice it and will tease them by saying 'u guys r so gay/lesbian for each other' lots of inappropriate touching going on between these 'platonic' friendships even if they already have a bf/gf....if its the dynamic between parent and child, they will show lots of passion and affection through touching all the time.
In this case, Sebby's Venus tightly conjuncts Ciel's Mars in Pieces. If noticed carefully Ciel always wants to have the upper hand and they are becoming very 'touchy touchy' by each manga chapter, especially it is more noticeable in the Emerald witch arc...like after waking up from the psychic trauma Ciel compensated his lost touching time with sebby as Ciel and Sebby both were excited to be able to stay 'near' each other again! Also, Mars do love get bathed by Venus!!... They were constantly flirting with each other with Victorian aesthetics in Emerald witch arc, especially when ciel was in a dress and sebby called him 'my lady' while fighting with Germans! and also the train date!...Mars CRAVES the touch of Venus!
Don't let Ciel's 13 old appearance fool you, he is very forceful and demanding towards sebby ( Its an Order SEBASTIAN! LMAO ) and Ciel CRAVES sebby's affection, excitement, passion and touch! Ciel as being a Mars in Pisces is drawn to more romantic and sensitive partners who are compassionate, creative, spiritual and will listen to him and Sebby as being a Pieces venus, he wants passion, true love, and a partner that is emotionally invested in the relationship. And Ciel exudes his passion and desire for 'revenge' and very much invested in Sebby! And we got to see the constant flirting going on between them on the lastest 212 🌹 train date🌹 chapter!

Pluto - Neptune (❤️‍🔥 🥀🖤) : *ALWAYS EVOLVING, LOOSING & FINDING EACH OTHER AGAIN THROUGH THEIR DEEP & INTENSE SPIRITUAL TRANSFORMATION : A THRILLING ROLLER COASTER RIDE OR A CONSTANT DEATH & REBIRTH CYCLE?*
Rarest conjunction EVER!!! It takes around 250 years ( more or less ) for Pluto to even complete 1 cycle and it takes around 165 years for Neptune to complete 1 cycle. Pluto and Neptune conjuncting like this happens only once in around 500 years!! Last time it happened in 1891 , and the next time it will happen in 2385. And it is even more rare to observe it in the synastry! Therefore, its really hard for astrologers to even describe such synastry dynamics! Both Pluto and Neptune are considered generational outer planets and they are extremely slow moving...Pluto the planet of the underworld ,the mafia boss, the thug you don't wanna mess with, always Schemeing and Plotting, death and rebirth, power to control, deep dark secrets, intense earthly desire and transformation..( lmao I always think if pluto was a person that would be that anime character from jjba Goirno Giovana like Italian mafia boss ) ...sounds very scorpionic in nature as pluto co-rules scorpio with mars...on the other hand, you have Neptune the planet of illusion, delusion, manipulation, confusion, dreams, fantasy, out of this known earthly realm ( Isekai world in anime term ), spiritualism and psychics etc etc is the theme of Neptune...Neptune rules Pisces.
When these 2 planets are in conjunction with each other in a synastry like this, Pluto person will try to dominate and control the Neptune person, Pluto wants to transform the neptune and its theme...Pluto will breakdown and destroy Neptune and will help rebuilt Neptune back better than before...now this transformation can be very painful if the Neptune person resists...the annoying thing about this transformation is that it just constantly occuring , the cycle never stops...and if the Neptune person stops the 'evolution' or does not want to transform spiritually, mentally or psychologically...they will end up having very dissapointing 'reality check' which can be very devastating and life threatening to them because Neptune is the 'Illusion' Neptune can't see past the delusion they are living in...In other words, Neptune has no other choice but to listen to pluto no matter what...if Neptune wants to transform and wants to stay committed to pluto...Pluto is very protective over Neptune person and have a very strong mental and psychological and sometimes emotional attachment to Neptune. Pluto doesn't and won't let go off the Neptune person, pluto's grasp on neptune is very tight as it wants to hold onto it desprately...it can also be other way around as well if the pluto person doesn't do what they are supposed to do, like help transforming Neptune into realigning with their reality, pluto person might get into a big trouble as the confused neptune will try to manipulate and the pluto will retaliate as pluto is very grounded into the reality and will not tolerate neptune's manipulation and psychological warfare...eventually either pluto will leave neptune alone or Pluto can stay strong keep staying 'grounded' into the reality so that it can help evolve and transform neptune as much as it is needed for neptune's realigning with the reality.
Another positive side of this synastry conjunction is that there are always a space for forming an extremely strong mental, psychological and emotional attachment with each other. Overtime they will both feel the extreme affection and empathy towards each other, if both pluto and neptune do their spiritual work and transformation and don't resist the process, instead they should trust the process, as they are both transforming spiritually. And only then they will be very affectionate and empathetic towards each other. They will also have a sense of compassion, will be able to sync with their emotional needs, they will eventually learn how to be emotionally vulnerable with each other...
In this synastry Ciel's pluto conjuncts Sebastian's Neptune. Ciel had to transform sebby mentally, psychologically, spiritually over and over again throughout their journey so far..so many trial and error going on..still the good thing is that sebby is committed...even though he was somewhat injured in the book of murder and book of atlantic...both times when he got injured, he wasn't expecting he was overconfident and slightly delusioned of his demonic superpowers...he underestimated undertaker and it cost him a lot of trouble for both ciel and him...and in the emerald green witch ark , ciel being the pluto person temporarily stops functioning due to his trauma and sebby being the neptune person tries his best with his dangerous manipulation and psychological warfare on ciel and it worked as ciel being the pluto did not tolerate his disrespectful act and retaliate back asap which was very much needed at that time...also, at the book of circus at the asthma scene ciel was embracing his own transformation and managed to overcome his fear at the end that's why sebby looked so excited... so as long as they are with each other, transformation like these will keep occuring!
Also, through that transformation, their bond keeps getting stronger through each transformation and they have gained enough empathy, affection, emotional and psychological attraction towards each other as it shows how proud ciel was when he acknowledged sebby's dedication at the end of the book of atlantic on the boat when ciel said 'You did good work today, when we reach the manor I want you to rest to serve as phantomhive butler properly'...and also when ciel woke up from psychological trauma in the green witch...they both were extremely affectinate towards each other as if its their one of the big relationship transformation...
Also, on the side note, both their pluto and neptune conjuncts at the zodiac Taurus, Taurus in pluto will be obsessed with their material possesion, finance, money, will be determined and enduring and Neptune in taurus will be very artistic, being good with food, will have a natural talent for creating beauty like pleasure seeking...both their planets conjuncting in taurus would challenge and transform their view on material possesion, pleasure seeking tendencies, money, loyalty and determination...this is exactly what we see happening during the blue revenge arc when R!ciel came back and took away everything from our ciel! And as a pluto in taurus, our ciel was extremely mad and his reaction at lau's place was extremely valid.

Juno - Ascendant (✨ 💘 ) : *ARE YOU MY HUSBAND/WIFE?*
Most common synastry among married couples!!! Its a love at 1st sight connection! When one partner's juno conjuncts the ascendant of another partner...the juno person sees the ascendant person as their ideal mate like their entire exsistance is perfect for the juno person to be considered at their significant other. Juno, as I mentioned earlier, the asteroid which is like a very loyal and devoted wife can be very possesive of their partner at well. Juno ( sebby ) person knows very well that ascendant ( ciel ) person will be very important in their life and juno dreams and even fantasies about having a life with ascendant person and how exiciting it will be...the ascendant person will immidiately realize that the juno person needs to be in a commitment with ascendant person...its a inner calling which the both juno and ascendant person realizes from deep within..both juno and the ascendant works together to succeed and accomplishing their mutual goals. Juno person is happy to provide a solid support in order to nuture ascendant person's future goals...Ascendant sees Juno as the stable and committed source of love and asc uses it to their advantages in order to achieve their desired goals...This synastry can show that the asc person feels like a wifey/hubby material to their juno partners and the juno probably proposed to them a lot or talk about marrying them every now and then. The juno person can be overly possessive and controlling over their asc partners as well.
In this synastry Sebby's juno conjuncts Ciels ascendant very tightly! And sebby shows all these possesiveness towards ciel and their small flirting here and there is a huge indicator!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Moon - Saturn ( 💏💍 ) : *I'M BOUND TO TAKE THE RESPONSIBILITY THAT COMES ALONG WITH THIS MARRIGE*
Another really common marriage indicator between most couples...Moon the planet of emotions meets the saturn the planet of restiction, authrority and strcuture. Saturn is like a benevolent restrictive father figure and the moon is that inner child. Saturn may sometimes think that moon is really childish...Saturn isn't complaining though they are happy to take the responsibility that comes along with the moon...Saturn is very mentally and emotionally mature...and moon is very moody...which can sometimes annoy saturn....moons is always emotionally ups and downs like they are always in an emotional wave of 'feelings'...They both want the same thing in terms of commitment...Moon approaches with the commitment very emotionally and Saturn with a sense of responsibility, maturity, or practicality. Doing anything in their power to keep the bond secure. Its a really stable and long lasting synastry between married couples. This synastry is very solid and strong and provides a solid base for mutual understanding, respect and commitment between couples..
In this synastry Sebby's saturn is in conjunction with ciel's moon...even if the orbs are wider, the energy is still felt and..the moon can have wider orb in conjunction...it is very evident that how bratty can ciel get from time to time and how childishly he tests sebby just so that he can annoy him...and sebby quietly endures everything ciel throws at him along with his bratty tantrums...and how sebby is very strict with his learning lessons later on how ciel took revenge by pouring the hot tea on sebby's hands LOL so petty of being cancer moon!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Juno - Sun ( 💕💖 ) : *I WILL PROTECT YOU NO MATTER WHAT*
Devotion, loyalty and possesiveness to the maxxx!!! As I said earlier that Juno, the goddess of marriage is also very possesive, loyal and devoted.... In this synastry, juno conjuncts with the sun ( which is the ego the core personality )... Juno is very protective, possesive, loyal and devoted to the Sun person...Juno sees the sun person as their ideal mate ....the one and only...Juno's ideals and Sun person's ideals are matching with each other...They have deep understanding of each other's desires...Sun person's ego is ideal for juno person...juno finds it very attractive...Juno will do anything to protect the sun person from any harm...They have similar ideas about family, home, career and children. They are always there for each other. There is a strong sense of admiration, mutual respect and attraction towards each other. They see themselves in a committed and fulfilling relationship with each other. They have strong foundation to build a life, family and home together. This is a very strong and stable relationship for marrige..one of the common placement found in most married couples...Juno is everything the sun person could wish for to find in their ideal mate...
In this synastry, sebastian's juno conjuncts ciel's sun. Sebby would go in extra length to devote himself in order to protect ciel and there are many small small indications in the manga that sebby is possesive , loyal, devoted to ciel. Sebby will do literally anything to protect ciel like and his possesiveness shows that how panicked he gets when he sees ciel is injured ...in the green witch and the blue cult arc! Sebby so protective that he even forgets his own injury to protect ciel...that's how deeply devoted and protective this synastry aspect between juno and sun can be.

THIS IS SOO LONG!!! I did not want to make it into a huge thesis LMAO!! sorry for wasting your time! thank you for reading though😭😭😭 my other parts won't be that long...it took me 3 days to write lol...I just got carried away by their dynamic! I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!!! AGHH!! I felt like I had to explain astrologically!

“Well, hello, Darling,” a man muses, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you around before.”
Imogen slowly turns around and is met with semi-glowing red eyes, a gorgeous face, and an even more awe inspiring smile. She eyes him suspiciously and he looks taken aback.
“You must not be very observant then,” she says in a cold voice, “I work here four days a week.”
“Really? A woman as beautiful as yourself? Working in Sharess’ Caress?” the man says with feigned disbelief all over his face, “do your clients know they are lucky enough to be in the presence of a Goddess?”
He’s fucking with me- I just know it.
“They did,” she states, “until you took all my regulars and did Gods only knows what with them.”
The mask he was wearing shatters- hard. The sheer panic on his face is enough for Imogen to know that her suspicions are correct- her regulars are no longer walking this earthly plane. She turns on her heel- leaving the beautiful man in a storm of terror.
She had been onto him for months now and his face alone is enough for her to tell the woman at the front that she will be back. If he’s murdering people, then he needs to be stopped. She needs money- she can’t have every regular she has die on her and now that he seems to have moved onto her, well…
Imogen looks up and down the street for a Flaming Fist- the night sky is bright with moonlight and there are masses of people walking around. She let’s out a huff of frustration when she realizes it’s going to be significantly harder to find a Flaming Fist than she thought.
Pushing through the crowd and occasionally having some handsy man or woman grab at her in her skimpy outfit, Imogen finally finds a Flaming Fist guarding the gate into the Lower City. A sigh of relief leaves her body, but then someone is pulling her aggressively into an alleyway- if anyone notices, no one follows them.
“Pain in my fucking ass,” the man from earlier snarls before turning on you, “what do you think you’re doing?”
“What do you think you’re doing?” she shoots back.
The two are staring at each other with equal amounts of contempt and venom, but Imogen sees an excruciating amount of fear in his eyes as he peers down at her.
“You need to come with me.”
“Absolutely not,” she scoffs, “I know for a fact that you kill every person you take home- I’ve been watching you for months. I just needed a direct confession and your facial expression is more than eno-”
He slams her up against the wall and Imogen gasps- whether out of fear or arousal, she can’t be entirely sure. His cologne fills her senses and he is positively magnetic. He smirks at her while leering back.
“Darling,” he says through gritted teeth, “I’m not the one who does the killing.”
She searches his face for any signs of deception and is utterly surprised when she doesn’t find any. Imogen’s face softens, much to both of their surprises. She’s actually not that tough of a person, she had just practiced that speech so many times in the washroom that it was second nature. She is far more passive- the one men and women enjoy fucking as hard as they can because she’s been marketed as “being able to take it”.
She couldn’t, not really, but she needed the money to survive so she took it.
The fear in his eyes- it’s not because of her telling the Flaming Fists. He’s afraid of another entity entirely. Who, what, or why- she doesn’t know, but it would be remiss of her to not offer to help in any way she can.
“Is there anything I can do to help you?” she pleads, “we could go to the Flaming Fists together- you don’t have to-”
“No,” he hisses, “I can’t do that. You can help me by coming with me.”
 “I can’t do that.”
“I know,” he says through a choked whisper.
His hands are suddenly around her neck and she’s struggling to breathe. She looks at him with pleading eyes and notices his own eyes are even brighter now.
“It’s always such a shame when cattle won’t listen. Don’t you agree, Astarion?”
A voice from further down the alleyway causes her to begin fighting back harder and she immediately recognizes the man- Cazador Szarr. For whatever reason, that doesn’t surprise her. He’s always been kind of off putting, weird, and sadistic when any of her clients invite her to attend a soiree with them (paid, of course). Everyone else is charmed by him, but Imogen knows better.
The man, Astarion nods his head, but his eyes are looking at her as if to communicate that he is sorry. That he did not want to have to do this to her and that she was just unlucky enough to have crossed his path tonight.
Tears begin to fall down her face and she focuses on Astarion as Cazador begins walking towards them. Her heart races and she feels all the hairs stand up along her neck and arms. He is going to kill her- she can see it in his eyes and she begins to sob harder as he strokes her cheek and forces her eyes to look into his.
 He looks hungry.
She whimpers in fear and he smiles darkly- massive canines peeking out from underneath his lips. Imogen begins to realize there may be worse things than death. What if this man does what he did to Astarion to her? She doesn’t want to murder people.
“Aren’t you a delicious little thing,” Cazador says, his hands trailing down the front of her chest, brushing one of her nipples before gripping her breast through the fabric, “I have a feeling we are going to have a lot of fun together.”
Tears go rolling down her face even faster now. Cazador begins to slowly undress her by untying the back of her dress. Astarion’s hands begin to tighten again around her throat, her airway more closed now than it was before. She puts her hands on his wrists and pleads with him in her mind to fight whatever this is, don’t kill her- please.
Except the situation quickly gets worse.
A mind flayer comes up from behind Cazador- he barely catches the invasion in time and the man disappears into a cloud of red mist and Astarion drops her to the ground when the Mindflayer grabs him, another one coming out from the shadows towards Imogen.
She weakly tries to get up, but it’s no use- she is too weak and delirious to successfully get away and she’s forced to give in. Astarion is screaming and trying to attack the creature clinging onto him- the screaming stops abruptly and Astarion drops like a dead weight on the ground.
Imogen can’t decide if she just has terrible luck or if she just needs to get the fuck out of Baldur’s Gate already. She doesn’t fight the Mindflayer like Astarion did, but suddenly, she’s floating off into space- the world no longer privy of her and her no longer privy to the world.
         *************************************************************************
When she wakes up again- she’s in an entirely different place and the smell of Sulfur assaults her nose as her pod opens. Imogen gingerly jumps out and looks around- grateful when she sees something resembling a door. She fights the vomit that crawls up her throat when she sees that the door is made of some kind of flesh.
Thankfully, it opens without her assistance and she steps inside with gentle footsteps, remaining along the edge of the room until she is certain that no one else is in there but the strange voice from the floor above.
The elevator system is actually pretty neat, but coming across a brain talking to her as a man looks up at her does actually make her begin coughing up bile and shaking. She gets up, scrambling to run down the path leading away from the grotesque sight.
 “NO! Please SAVE US!”
“I’m sorry!” she yells back, “but I promise I would if I thought I could stomach it!”
“PLEASE!!!!”
The plea was desperate and it pulls at her heart strings. Imogen stops and begrudgingly trudges backwards- putting her fingers into the skull.
   Gods, this is disgusting!
One of her fingers accidentally slips into the brain and she has to suppress the gag threatening to leave her throat. She doesn’t want to alarm the poor thing.
It pops out and walks around for a bit, before looking at her? Imogen isn’t really sure, but ‘Us’ decides to join her on this little adventure.
The hot air and sulfur is all consuming- Imogen feels dizzy. This is all too much and she’s probably going to die. Whether it be by turning into a Mindflayer or being killed by someone else- she’s not sure if she has a preference anymore. She just wants the hell out of the Hells.
As if on cue, a sword is thrusted into her face and a creature from a race she has never seen in her life is staring at her. Imogen nearly falls backwards from trying to get away, but thankfully they reach a mutual understanding.
“We need to kill the Imps,” she states as if that’s the easiest thing in the world, “then we will find a cure on the Material Plane.”
Imogen feels herself go as white as a sheet and the woman cocks her head at her.
 “What is it, istik?”
“I-I don’t know how to fight,” she admits.
The woman blinks at her a few times before she begins to walk away.
 “Wait- don’t leave me here!”
“You are of no use to me,” she spat, “unable to fight- Vlaakith preserve me. It will be a miracle if you survive any of this at all.”
Imogen swallows thickly and doesn’t argue with her- instead, she follows behind her and stays out of sight while she fights the imps. Us stays nearby, remaining her loyal, weird pet companion.
Imogen will let her do the heavy lifting and clear the path ahead. There has to be a way out and Imogen is determined to find it. She is not going to die here.
After the woman climbs up the disgusting looking nets and disappears, Imogen walks over to one of the corpses that is wearing a robe.
Imogen looks down at her current outfit and then at the robe. She’s going to have to change. No one is going to take her seriously dressed like this and she needs at least something to attempt to defend herself with.
“I am so so sorry,” she says to the poor man she’s stripping, his eyes glassy with death, “I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t have to- I hope you can forgive me.”
The robe is far too large on her shorter frame and it’s rather loose. It sits awkwardly on the curve of her hips, breasts, and ass. She groans- this is going just sooooo well already.
She takes the dagger and cuts the robe to her knees and the arms until they are at her elbows. Sticking the dagger in her makeshift belt (fashioned out of her previous outfit). The next body she finds thankfully has a pair of boots that are her size so she discards her sandals and shoves her feet into the poor dead person’s shoes- once again apologizing profusely for messing with them in death.
The next climb is not nearly as disgusting now that her feet are covered and she is expecting the odd texture under her hands. Imogen finds that she’s actually a lot stronger than she realized- she’s not even breaking a sweat. Sex is apparently excellent exercise.
She’s met, once again, with a room decorated in gore, except this time, there is a woman screaming and yelling as she slams her hands against the glass. Imogen races over and the woman looks relieved.
“Oh thank the Gods,” she breathes, “please help me- the other survivor, she left and she’s already working on taking down the ship.”
  Wonderful.
“Do you know what they used to close you in in the first place?”
Imogen can tell the woman is struggling to calm down enough to think clearly.
“Hey, look at me,” Imogen says softly, the woman looks at her on the verge of tears, “I’m not leaving you here to die alone, if you die, I die- breathe. Tell me what you remember.”
Imogen goes in the direction the woman gestured to and begins searching through the pockets of the dead- there’s another person in here, but unfortunately- they are a Mindflayer now. That one woman must have wandered in here thinking this was the way to the Helm.
A stone-like object is warm and pulsing in her hand as if it’s come to life. This must be the key that is missing in the console.
She sprints back this time and holds up the rune as she runs over- the woman cheers in relief and Imogen quickly releases her from her prison. Imogen wants to know why she specifically felt like she had authority over the console to control it, but figuring out all of this nonsense is going to have to wait.
“Thank you,” she says, “you have no idea how grateful I am for you right now.”
Imogen smiles, “no problem- I’m Imogen and this is Us.”
The woman eyes the creature with uncertainty, but decides it’s not worth questioning.
“Shadowheart,” she says while walking back to the pod, grabbing something.
Imogen decides she doesn’t care- as long as this woman is willing to help her get out of here and back to Baldur’s Gate so she can say goodbye to her home and move the hell away, she can do whatever she wants.
The ship lurches suddenly and both of them go flying across the room- being thrown all the way to the opening Imogen came from. Both parties scream in terror as they watch the ground get closer and closer.
The ship’s descent and gravity force Imogen’s grip to release. Shadowheart tries to grab her and their fingers merely brush. Imogen free falls- the ground coming closer and closer as she braces herself for her death.
Only it never comes- a woman stands in front of her with a smile before Imogen unceremoniously drops to the ground. Her battered body begs for sleep and she gives in- hoping no more tragedies will be brought upon her so she can finally rest.

As Taylor Swift rolled into Los Angeles this week, the frenzy surrounding her record-breaking Eras Tour was already in high gear.
Headlines gushed that she had given $100,000 bonuses to her crew. Politicians asked her to postpone her concerts in solidarity with striking hotel workers. Scalped tickets were going for $3,000 and up. And there were way, way too many friendship bracelets to count.
These days, the center of an otherwise splintered music world can only be Taylor Swift.
The pop superstar’s tour, which is now finishing its initial North American leg with six nights at SoFi Stadium outside Los Angeles, has been a both a business and a cultural juggernaut. Swift’s catalog of generation-defining hits and canny marketing sense have helped her achieve a level of white-hot demand and media saturation not seen since the 1980s heyday of Michael Jackson and Madonna — a dominance that the entertainment business had largely accepted as impossible to replicate in the fragmented 21st century.
“The only thing I can compare it to is the phenomenon of Beatlemania,” said Billy Joel, who attended Swift’s show in Tampa, Fla., with his wife and young daughters.
In a summer of tours by stars like Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen, Morgan Wallen and Drake, Swift’s stands apart, in numbers and in media noise. Although Swift, 33, and her promoters do not publicly report box-office figures, the trade publication Pollstar estimated that she has been selling about $14 million in tickets each night. By the end of the full world tour, which is booked with 146 stadium dates well into 2024, Swift’s sales could reach $1.4 billion or more — exceeding Elton John’s $939 million for his multiyear farewell tour, the current record-holder.
Swift has now had more No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 over the course of her career than any other woman, surpassing Barbra Streisand. With the tour lifting Swift’s entire body of work, she has placed 10 albums on that chart this year and is the first living artist since the trumpeter and bandleader Herb Alpert in 1966 to have four titles in the Top 10 at the same time.
“It’s a pretty amazing feat,” Alpert, 88, said in a phone interview. “With the way radio is these days, and the way music is distributed, with streaming, I didn’t think anyone in this era could do it.”
But how did a concert tour become so much more: fodder for gossip columns, the subject of weather reports, a boon for friendship-bracelet beads — the unofficial currency of Swiftie fandom — and the reason nobody could get a hotel room in Cincinnati at the end of June?
“She is the best C.E.O., and best chief marketing officer, in the history of music,” said Nathan Hubbard, a longtime music and ticketing executive who co-hosts a Swift podcast. “She is following people like Bono, Jay-Z and Madonna, who were acutely aware of their brands. But of all of them, Taylor is the first one to be natively online.”
Before Eras, Swift hadn’t been on tour since 2018. And her catalog has grown by seven No. 1 albums since then, fueled in part by three rerecorded “Taylor’s Versions” of her first LPs — a project hailed by Swift’s fans as a crusade to regain control of her music, though it is also an act of revenge after the sale of Swift’s former record label, a move that, she said, “stripped me of my life’s work.”
“Folklore” and “Evermore” expanded her palate into fantastical indie-folk and brought new collaborators into the fold: Aaron Dessner from the band the National and Justin Vernon, a.k.a. Bon Iver, rock-world figures who helped attract new listeners.
The other major tour this year that is enticing fans to book transcontinental flights, and to show up costumed and in rapture, is also by a woman: Beyoncé, 41, whose Renaissance tour is a fantasia of disco and retrofuturism. Like Swift, she is also a trailblazing artist-entrepreneur, maintaining tight control over her career and fostering a rich connection with fans online. Together with Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie,” a critique of the patriarchy told in hot pink, they are signs of powerful women ruling the discourse of pop culture.
But in music, at least, the scale and success of Swift’s tour is without equal. Later this month, after completing 53 shows in the United States, she will kick off an international itinerary of at least 78 more before returning to North America next fall. Beyoncé’s full tour has 56 dates; Springsteen’s, 90. (Recently, Harry Styles wrapped a 173-date tour in arenas and stadiums, grossing about $590 million.)
Outside Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, fans posed for selfies and shared their ticketing ordeals. Esmeralda Tinoco and Sami Cytron, 24-year-old former sorority sisters, said they had paid $645 for two seats. A stone’s throw away, Karlee Patrick and Emily DeGruson, both 18 and dressed as a pair in angel/devil costumes after a line in Swift’s “Cruel Summer,” sat “Taylorgating” at the edge of the parking lot; they said they had paid $100 for parking but couldn’t afford tickets.
As Swift’s opening acts finished, the crowd rushed in. Glaser, the comedian, later said that of the eight shows she had been to, her favorites were the ones where she had brought her mother — and converted her to Swiftie fandom.
“Everyone is in love with her,” Glaser said her mom told her after one show in Texas. “Now I get it.”

Based on the available data, the Guardian has undergone significant maturation over the years, as is expected among New Lights. They have demonstrated rising proficiency in mission leadership and the ability to deliver devastating blows to enemy support structures, frequently employing incendiary devices in their operations.
They appear to have re-established amicable terms with Sentry-3 and Vuass-4. While they are officially logged as having a fireteam, recent reports indicate they have begun requesting assistance from both Titans, which they have received. Interactions with Vuass-4 date back further than those with Sentry-3.
They had attempted this same reconciliation with Martyr-19 on [####-##-##]. Unfortunately, this had been mere hours before the death of the Hunter Vanguard.
My Guardian has been unsure how or if he should return communication after so long.
They have not sent further correspondence beyond their last, one week after the death of the Hunter Vanguard:
>>{BEV[hunter, human]}
“Never spoke to you after the split, but a Warlock shadowing the Hunter Vanguard is hard to miss when you’re— y’know— a Hunter. I guess you were close. Never heard you talk as much as you did around him. You going to do what you are seals it, right? Whispers around the Tower about you running off to hunt Uldren Sov.
Not going to talk you out of it or lecture you on ‘being the bigger person’. That’s not my job. I don’t think it’s anyones. Maybe Ikora’s. Zavala’s too? Did they try? Had to have, they’re the Vanguard. But then again the Vanguard slips every now and then— why wouldn’t they for a friend?
The loss you’re feeling? We get it. Hunters, I mean. Don’t know where this leaves us. But it stings. Bad. Plenty are feeling aimless, and angry, already. Don’t let it make you stupid. We’ve never had a track record of grief making us smarter, have we?
Not saying I don’t like what you’re doing.
If you make it back, and you really should consider not dying because a 50% survival rate from our original fireteam looks real bad, me and Vuass could buy you a drink. Big guy didn’t know what to say to you.
Don’t be a stranger anymore.”

When the topic of abortion came up during the first Republican primary presidential debate, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis shared a perplexing anecdote about a woman he met who he said had survived the procedure. "I know a lady in Florida named Penny," DeSantis said. "She survived multiple abortion attempts. She was left discarded in a pan. Fortunately, her grandmother saved her and brought her to a different hospital." Some accused the governor of fabricating the story. "Let me see if I understand this correctly. Doctors tried to abort ‘Penny’ multiple times and discarded her in a pan, and then her grandmother took her to another hospital? DeSantis lies like a toddler," one person posted on X, formerly Twitter. Our research found that a woman named Penny, who tells an unusual birth story about an attempted abortion, does exist. We asked DeSantis’ campaign for evidence or more information. The campaign replied via email, sending only a link to a Daily Signal article that identified "Penny" by her full name and recounted her story.  The woman DeSantis referred to is Miriam "Penny" Hopper, an anti-abortion activist who said she survived an abortion attempt in Florida in 1955. Her claim, which is uncorroborated, has been featured online by Protect Life Michigan, an anti-abortion advocacy group.  In a video and in interviews, Hopper said she had been delivered around 23 weeks gestation after her mother went to a hospital in Wauchula, Florida, while experiencing bleeding. In a 2013 interview with radio station WFSU, Hopper said she believes an abortion had been attempted at home before her parents went to the hospital, which also could be why DeSantis referenced "multiple" abortion attempts.  Hopper said the doctor at the hospital induced labor, and she was born at 1 pound, 11 ounces and was left in a bedpan. She told WFSU her grandmother found her alive the next day and was enraged about her being abandoned. Then a nurse volunteered to transport Hopper to what was then Morell Memorial Hospital in Lakeland, Florida, now the site of Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center. That’s about 40 miles north of the hospital where Hopper says she was born.  Her story has been used to support "born alive" bills in state legislatures, which aim to protect infants that survive an abortion, even though there are federal laws for that purpose.  We were unable to gauge the accuracy of Hopper’s account. We couldn’t find records, such as news reports, dating to the 1950s, and people who could corroborate the story, such as her grandmother, are no longer living. Hopper did not respond to requests for comment.  Medically speaking, the scenario is dubious.  From the 1950s through 1980, "newborn death was virtually ensured" for infants born at or before 24 weeks of gestation, The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology says on its website.  Recent studies have shown wide variation in modern-day survival rates for infants born around 23 weeks, partly because of improved hospital practices for resuscitation and active treatment. A 2022 University of Rochester Medical Center study found that babies born at 23 weeks — who were "actively treated" at academic medical centers in the National Institutes of Health-funded Neonatal Research Network —  had a 55% chance of survival. This is considerably higher than the 23-week survival rate at many other institutions, as well as a previous study conducted from 2008 to 2012 in the same network, which put the rate at 32%. (Lifesaving care for babies born at 22 and 23 weeks varies by hospital policy and physician opinion, according to a New York Times story.)  Before the 1970s, most babies born before 28 weeks gestation died because they lacked the ability to breathe on their own for more than a short time, and reliable mechanical ventilators for these infants did not yet exist. That also makes it improbable that Hopper could have survived overnight without medical intervention when born at 23 weeks in the 1950s.  PolitiFact researcher Caryn Baird contributed to this report.

On Thursday, August 8, 2013, just after 5 pm, two Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) detectives traveled down California Highway 210 toward a coffee shop. They were headed to rendezvous with a woman whose friend, a famous actress, had reported her missing after not hearing from her for over seven years. The woman also hadn't been seen or heard from by people she had known for decades.
The meeting was arranged by an attorney for the missing woman. It was scheduled after a short period of rapid negotiation about where the woman would agree to meet the detectives and what she would agree to do when she met them.
As they pulled up to the coffee shop, the detectives faced a woman who said she was Shelly Miscavige, the wife of Scientology's leader David Miscavige. Jeffrey Riffer, a longtime attorney for Scientology, accompanied the woman.
The detectives checked her ID, took her fingerprints, and returned to LAPD headquarters.
Tumblr media
The LAPD fingerprint sheet detectives used to collect two thumbprints from the woman who identified herself as Shelly Miscavige. Experts I consulted informed me that the quality of the fingerprints suggests either the detectives lacked proper training in capturing thumbprints, or the individual providing the print had been trained in how not to leave a thumbprint that could be matched. (NOTE: The thumbprints do not appear in this image exactly as they do in the printed image I obtained.)
The next day, two LAPD lab technicians determined that the fingerprints taken at the coffee shop could not definitively be matched to the fingerprints the California DMV had on record for Shelly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Two internal LAPD reports from the Shelly Miscavige Missing Persons Investigation: 1. The LAPD lab report states that a match with the thumbprint on file at the DMV was inconclusive. 2. The LAPD lab report indicates that technicians deemed the prints unsuitable for a match.
Instead of contacting Shelly's attorney to arrange for another set of prints to be taken, the LAPD removed her from the missing person's database, closed the investigation, and issued a press statement saying that the missing person's report had been "unfounded."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1. A printout of the missing person's alert on Shelly Miscavige was sent out to the NECS, an internal law enforcement communications system. This alert was issued on August 6, 2013, a day after Leah Remini filed her report with the LAPD. 2. A printout of the alert dated August 9, 2013, was also sent to the NECS, stating that the LAPD had determined Shelly Miscavige was not a missing person. The alert further indicated that the LAPD removed her from the Missing Person's system and informed the National Crime Information Center that she was not missing. This alert was disseminated the same morning the LAPD found the fingerprints unsuitable for matching or inconclusive and didn't seek to get a second set of prints.
Fingerprint experts who examined the prints told me that the technicians shouldn't have even attempted to match the fingerprints; the prints taken by LAPD detectives weren't of a high enough quality to conduct a match. Without prior knowledge about the subject of my story or her association with Scientology, one of the experts I interviewed asked if the person who provided their fingerprint had been trained to intentionally leave a fingerprint that wouldn't be suitable for a match.
This alarming lapse, which has never been reported before, is just one piece of a larger story that reveals that the LAPD has repeatedly disregarded standard law enforcement procedures to protect Scientology.
But not getting a second set of prints from the woman claiming to be Shelly was just one of the things the LAPD didn't do in this case that, at best, would involve incompetence and negligence, and worst, that certain LAPD employees were engaged in a conspiracy to protect Scientology from law enforcement action.
Days later, for unknown reasons and even though the missing person's investigation into Shelly had been closed out, the detectives contacted the coffee shop to obtain security camera footage from the meeting.
When the coffee shop sent the footage over a week later, the videos for all the cameras were inexplicably scrambled.
As part of reporting this story, I reviewed the footage and confirmed that it was unusable for any investigative purpose.
A screenshot taken from the video footage that the LAPD obtained from the coffee shop where Shelly Miscavige and a Scientology attorney briefly met with LAPD detectives. It took the coffee shop a week to send the footage after it was requested. The footage, covering multiple camera angles, was inexplicably pixelated and scrambled.
The meeting at the coffee shop was ignited by a missing person's report filed by one of the most well-known Scientologists at the time, actress Leah Remini, who was best known at that point for co-starring in the CBS sitcom "King of Queens." In the summer of 2013, after years of tortuous abuse at the hands of Scientology and its top officials, Remini and her family left Scientology.
One of the first things Remini did after leaving Scientology, which she was a member of for 35 years (since she was eight years old), was to file a missing person's report on Shelly Miscavige, which she did on August 5, 2013.
For Remini, involving a non-Scientology law enforcement agency in what Scientologists would consider an internal matter, marked an earth-shattering departure. After 35 years of being brainwashed and drilled into the belief that it was a high crime to involve non-Scientology authorities in matters that only involved Scientologists, her public action was a major rebuke to Scientology.
This story is based on reporting gathered over the last six years. I had conversations with 11 sources, including former Scientologists, elected officials, law enforcement contacts, and sources in the entertainment industry. These sources spoke to me only on the condition of anonymity. Their reasons for this condition varied: some were not allowed to talk to the press without prior authorization, others had signed restrictive non-disclosure agreements, or they did not want to become a target of Scientologists in the entertainment business.
However, all of my sources shared something in common; they required anonymity because they were terrified of backlash from Scientology and its proxies, including the private investigation firms it retains globally to track, intimidate, and gather intelligence on those it labels as enemies.
As part of reporting this story, I obtained internal Scientology documents, text messages, emails, and privileged and confidential legal documents.
I obtained copies of Shelly's fingerprints, her DMV photo, and other related documents from sources in the legal and law enforcement world.
The records I obtained gave me a glimpse into Shelly’s life since she vanished. For example, in 2010, she got her driver's license renewed at a West Covina, California, DMV field office.
Tumblr media
Shelly Miscavige’s California DMV photo was taken in 2010, three years after she vanished. This is the first photograph of Shelly the public has seen since 2004.
By the time she took the sullen photo -- the first glimpse the public is getting of Shelly since a photograph taken in 2004 -- she had not been seen in public for three years since she attended her father's funeral in 2007 with a Scientology handler watching her every move.
Scientology will deny nearly everything in this report. I have a longstanding policy of not quoting Scientology spokespersons, as they almost always fill their statements with lies. They must lie per Scientology policy; telling the truth, which could harm Scientology, would be considered a high crime.
An email detailing this story's allegations had yet to receive a response from LAPD's public information office when this story was published. Two attempts to connect with Jeffrey Riffer, the attorney for Scientology and the Miscaviges, failed to produce a response.
As a reporter, covering Scientology is a dangerous and expensive process. I cannot conduct this type of reporting without your support. Please help sustain this work by becoming a paid subscriber.
After my story was published, Remini sent me this statement via text-message which she also posted on her various social media accounts, “For ten years, the LAPD and Scientology have tried to paint me as a paranoid conspiracy theorist with a vendetta. This news is a relief, but it also angers me. I am furious with the coverup. I'm angry that Scientology has gotten away with this. This information only makes me want to fight for my friend even more.”
Stunning Abandonment of Standard Law Enforcement Procedures
In the missing person's report that Remini filed, she had told detectives that she, along with many other friends and colleagues of Shelly's, were concerned about her safety. She gave detectives the names and contact information of other former Scientologists who could corroborate her concerns.
Part of the report read, "The PR [person reporting] believes, as do other ex-members of the Church, that the MP [missing person] is being secreted against her will and not allowed to communicate with anyone on orders by her husband. Given the PR's intimate knowledge of the Church and their harsh response to any criticism, the PR fears for the MP's safety."
The report also said on two occasions that, Remini observed Shelly get nervous and anxious when her husband was around.
Knowing that information and learning the next day that the print came back inconclusive/unsuitable for a match, it's shocking that the LAPD moved on from the investigation.
The third page of the missing person’s report Leah Remini filed with the LAPD on Shelly Miscavige. Remini told detectives that she and other friends of Shelly’s feared that she was being held against her own will. The report also reveals that Remini told detectives that Shelly appeared to be frightened by her husband.
But it gets worse.
My sources, along with a review of documents, told me that Shelly was not informed that she was the subject of a missing person's report by the LAPD detectives and that Remini was the one who filed it. There is also no indication that they ascertained why she was missing or what led her to withdraw so severely from life and her friends.
Not presenting Shelly with this critical information goes against every standard practice of law enforcement when a missing adult is found, even if they claim they are voluntarily missing. And not attempting to learn why someone whose friends expressed concern that she was being held against her own will and the subject of abuse also goes against standard law enforcement practices for investigations involving missing and kidnapped persons and possible victims of domestic violence.
The location of Shelly’s meeting with the LAPD detectives was also unusual.
The LAPD detectives met with the woman claiming to be Shelly and her attorney Jeffrey Riffer in Covina, an incorporated city with its police department in Los Angeles County. Law enforcement experts who spoke to me, including LAPD sources, said the detectives should have arranged to meet with the woman and her attorney at the Covina Police Department. As a courtesy, Covina PD would have given the LAPD detectives a private room, and cameras would provide security footage if needed. If Shelly was accompanied by Scientology security agents (which would have further intimidated her into silence if she was being held against her own will), the detectives could have required them to wait outside as they met with her and her attorney.
Tumblr media

The LAPD, which does not train its officers and detectives on Scientology policies and how to deal with cult-like organizations, treats Scientology as if it operates like any other organized religion.
And based on my reporting, the LAPD takes its treatment of Scientology a step further.
What LAPD did in this instance, or instead what they didn't do, and what they have done in other cases involving Scientology is give Scientology the equivalent of law enforcement courtesy and reciprocity. For example, if the San Francisco Police Department were to send a message to the LAPD about a case, the LAPD's position would be to trust the accuracy of what SFPD communicated unless something disproves what they said. In the case of Scientology, the LAPD has consistently taken Scientology's word for it.
Scientology’s use of prominent attorneys allows them to avoid law enforcement accountability, particularly when it involves missing persons investigations and welfare checks.
Usually, it wouldn't be out of the ordinary for a law enforcement agency to assume that a prominent attorney at a major Los Angeles firm would represent their client's best interests and tell the truth.
But attorneys for Scientology operate differently. L. Ron Hubbard wrote policy letters making it clear that instead of seeing attorneys as well-educated, experienced counsel who could guide Scientology, they were tools for Scientology to do its business and that attorneys hired by Scientology should bend to Scientology's objectives.
It's an exchange Scientology attorneys make for incredibly consistent business.
I reviewed one Scientology internal document from the early 2000s that revealed that two longtime Scientology attorneys had billings of over $250k each in 11 months just for one department and organization in Scientology. That doesn't include their work for other Scientology organizations and projects. Scientology has dozens of attorneys on retainer at any given time.
And even though Scientology is no longer litigious in that it initiates litigation, it still needs a lot of legal defense.
I have no evidence that Jeffrey Riffer, the Scientology attorney who negotiated with detectives and then accompanied Shelly to the coffee shop, knowingly lied to the LAPD about Shelly's state of mind and communication with her, and I am not suggesting it. I am suggesting that he was likely lied to by Scientology officials about her desires and that he telegraphed those lies to the LAPD.
Decades of investigations that fell apart due to Scientology’s intervention show that the LAPD is not set up to deal with how Scientology operates, impacting how Scientology-related crime is reported and investigated.
Four Days In August
After Remini filed her missing person's report on August 5, 2013, she sat waiting.
The records I reviewed reveal that the case was transferred to the missing persons unit, and detectives set out to contact Shelly via her attorney. But there are a lot of gaps, and we still don’t know who else Scientology and its attorneys were in touch within the LAPD. It’s also unclear what conditions detectives agreed to before meeting Shelly at the coffee shop.
After the LAPD closed the missing person's case prematurely, they abandoned standard law enforcement procedures again. LAPD detectives did not inform Remini that they believed they had found Shelly. Remini found out through the media when the news first leaked, and then the LAPD released a statement saying: "The investigation has been closed, and we consider the report to be unfounded."
Another statement they released a few days later said, "Our missing person's detectives have met with the alleged missing person within the past two days. We consider this case closed."
News organizations worldwide reported on the LAPD's announcement that Remini's report was "unfounded" and included Scientology's statement uncritically.
"This ill-advised, ludicrous self-promotion and the media inquiries it generated caused an inexcusable distraction for the LAPD. The entire episode was nothing more than a publicity stunt for Ms. Remini.”
The coverage focused on the LAPD's statement and Scientology's attack on Remini instead of asking why a woman who was so powerful and surrounded by so many influential people and then suddenly disappeared.
The mixed messages and stonewalling only emboldened Remini to push on the Shelly issue further. She filed a series of public records requests (spending tens of thousands of dollars in attorneys fees) to learn more about Shelly's case but to no avail.
Not satisfied that Shelly was well or even alive, Remini kept pushing.
She repeatedly brought up Shelly in her A&E docuseries and dedicated an entire episode to Shelly's disappearance. She has regularly posted about Shelly's disappearance on social media, pushing the hashtag #whereisshelly.
While there were articles about Shelly's disappearance before Remini left Scientology and filed the missing person's report, she has taken the case to another level. If you look at the replies and comments of Scientology social media posts, you will often see people posting, "Where Is Shelly?"
I have focused on Scientology and its abuses for two decades and have been reporting on it since 2016. It is the most complicated organization I've ever studied, with thousands of policies and directives, its own language (called Scientologese for lack of a better choice), and significant use of acronyms. Scientology and its policies, teachings, practices, and procedures are so nuanced and multi-layered that it frequently fools even the most cynical people.
But the "Where Is Shelly" message has stuck because, unlike Scientology, it's straightforward: a woman who used to be ubiquitous hasn't been seen in public in 17 years, and every time the organization she was the second most powerful official in is asked about her, they go on an aggressive attack.
People understandably wonder why Scientology can't just release a new photo or video of Shelly or have her sit in the front row at one of Scientology's big events to stop speculation about her whereabouts and welfare.
But David Miscavige will never do that, at least not with the current level of pressure on him. According to Mike Rinder, a former top Scientology executive who escaped Scientology in 2007 and has known Shelly since she was 12 when they both worked directly for Hubbard, it would be tantamount to admitting that the evil people (the media and Shelly's friends) were right.
(Over the years, as I have reported on Scientology, I have become good friends with many former Scientologists, including Remini and Rinder)
Putting Shelly on video would also be acknowledging her existence and humanity. To Miscavige, that's untenable as she is a non-person. Shelly, who he is still married to, is someone he doesn't want to think about or know exists, so when he is reminded of her, usually by Remini, he lashes out via his staff and proxies.
The public position of the LAPD, then and now, was that Remini filed a report that Shelly was missing, and after meeting with Shelly they determined that she was not missing. But if a fingerprint was used to confirm her identity, and that result was inconclusive, how could they say she was no longer considered missing?
There is no scenario too improbable when it comes to Scientology. For over 70 years, Scientology has been operating in the most brazen manner and has undertaken thousands of complex intelligence operations to protect itself and its leadership, specifically founder L. Ron Hubbard and the current leader, David Miscavige.
Scientology is responsible for the most extensive infiltration into the US government in history. Its two intelligence agencies, first with the Guardian's office and now with the Office of Special Affairs, have infiltrated dozens of other governments worldwide, law enforcement agencies, including Interpol, and local and state governments. They have broken up marriages, separated families, destroyed careers and businesses, and disappeared people deemed enemies or threats.
There is nothing Scientology and Scientologists won’t do to protect Scientology.
Nothing.
Understanding Scientology = Understanding Shelly
So why would Shelly put up with this treatment and why would so many Scientologists be willing to risk arrest to take an active part in repressing her?
The answer to both of these questions lies in understanding what Scientology truly is, and unfortunately, a vast majority of people, including law enforcement, don’t understand Scientology in a way that reveals how incredibly evil it is. Even those who have watched documentaries like HBO’s “Going Clear,” or the A&E docuseries “Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath” co-hosted by Leah Remini and Mike Rinder don’t fully understand what Scientology is like and how Scientologists live day-to-day.
It takes years of studying and learning every part of Scientology and how it operates to grasp its true nature.
Scientology is often called a cult, and while it has some cultish aspects, a more accurate way to describe Scientology is that it is a borderless totalitarian state and a cult of personality. For Scientologists, Scientology is like North Korea without state-sanctioned executions. From brainwashing, indoctrination, prison camps, multi-generational punishment, holding people against their will, chasing those who try to escape, and transnational repression of dissenters, it all exists in Scientology.
Like North Korea, Scientology even has what is known as face crimes. David Miscavige has been known to beat Scientology executives whose facial expressions at any given moment displease him. Former Scientologists I have spoken to over the years have told me stories of being scolded and interrogated (at their own expense) when they didn't appear to be sufficiently enthusiastic at Scientology events.
For Scientologists, Scientology is like a separate state with its own laws and justice system.
What people have a hard time understanding is how obsessively dedicated Scientologists are. No one, outside of a jihadist terrorist, is more committed to a cause than a Scientologist is committed to Scientology. Scientologists will give up everything for Scientology, including their kids. They will commit crimes for Scientology; they will abuse people for Scientology.
And the reason is simple: Scientologists, who believe we live innumerable lives, think they are on a mission to save humanity.
As part of becoming a Sea Org member (Scientology’s paramilitary workforce), Scientologists sign a 1-billion-year contract. These contracts are often made fun of. It's ridiculous; I get it. But in reality, it's a terrifying indicator of commitment. What would you do for a cause that meant so much to you that you were willing to give it total control over not just this lifetime but many lifetimes over one billion years?
Scientology and Scientologists are governed by thousands of policies and directives written by founder L. Ron Hubbard. Because Scientologists believe that Hubbard is the sole source for Scientology technology and policies which, when applied perfectly, will solve every problem, these policies can never be altered and must be interpreted literally. For Scientologists, Hubbard's policies are law. Scientologists consider Scientology law to be entirely above what they call “WOG law.” The term WOG is a slur that Scientologists use to refer to non-Scientologists.

The Thread
On November 10, 2022, Remini tweeted a long thread on Twitter about Shelly Miscavige and the former Captain of the LAPD Hollywood Station, Cory Palka.
Tumblr media
The first tweet of a long Twitter thread that Leah Remini tweeted in November 2022. This thread lead to an unusually public response from the LAPD.
That thread would lead to an unusual statement from the LAPD and an internal affairs investigation being opened into the Shelly Miscavige missing person's case.
What led Remini to tweet the thread was the news that Palka was under investigation for leaking confidential law enforcement data to former CBS CEO Les Moonves. (In 2018, after allegations of sexual assault and harassment were leveled against Moonves by over a dozen women, Moonves, who denied that he had behaved improperly or broken the law, resigned.)
Remini had an encounter with Palka that left a bad taste in her mouth and made her concerned about the integrity of the missing person's investigation into Shelly and Scientology's influence over the LAPD.
Palka already had a reputation for cozying up to power; an LA Times report revealed that when Palka took over as Captain of the Hollywood Station, he quickly worked to ingratiate himself with Scientology.
After Remini's thread about Palka and Shelly went viral, the LAPD took the unusual step of issuing an on-record statement directly addressing Remini.
"The Los Angeles Police Department is aware of public assertions recently made by Leah Remini regarding a missing person investigation involving Shelly Miscavige. In 2014, Los Angeles Police Department detectives assigned to the Missing Persons Unit (MPU) went to Shelly Miscavige's location and personally made contact with her and her attorney. Detectives found her to be alive and safe, and subsequently closed the missing persons investigation. The Missing Persons Unit handles adult missing cases throughout the City of Los Angeles and work out of LAPD's Detective Bureau. This case was not investigated by Hollywood Division personnel and had no involvement by retired LAPD Commander Corey Palka."
But detectives did not meet Shelly in 2014; they met with her in 2013. And calling a coffee shop her "location," while technically accurate, is a bit of a stretch.
And Remini never said that Palka was directly involved in the investigation, merely that she was concerned that he was using his influence and access to confidential info to aid Scientology.
The Wedding That Changed Everything
By 2006, after 28 years of dedication to Scientology, Remini found herself in the upper part of the most elite Scientologists. She had risen to this spot not just because of her celebrity and the fact that she was starring in a successful network sitcom but also because she had donated millions of dollars to Scientology.
This elite status comes with all sorts of perks and honors for any Scientologist who attains it.
In 2006, Remini achieved what any Scientologist would feel was an extraordinary honor: she and her husband, Angelo Pagan, were invited to attend the wedding of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes in Italy.
Remini was already in his inner circle when she was invited to Cruise’s wedding. In Scientology, if you want to be in a Scientology celebrity’s inner circle, the President’s office of the Celebrity Centre has to approve it.
And if you want to be in Tom Cruise’s inner circle? David Miscavige has to approve it personally. Tom Cruise holds a unique position in Scientology for someone who is a civilian Scientologist. Scientologists are not allowed to be critical of him; those who criticize him in any way face harsh interrogations (at their own expense).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Leah Remini and Tom Cruise at two separate premieres of Cruise's films. By the time these photos were taken, Remini had become a part of Cruise's inner circle. David Miscavige, the leader of Scientology, would have had to approve Remini's inclusion in this select group personally.
To illustrate what a big deal it was for Remini and Pagan to be invited to the Cruise/Holmes wedding, even longtime Scientology celebrities like John Travolta and Kirstie Alley hadn't been invited. On the first night of the wedding weekend, Remini's elite position within Scientology came crashing down when she asked an innocuous question: "Where is Shelly?"
The Cruise/Holmes wedding was billed within Scientology as the wedding of the century; it was unfathomable that one of the most powerful people in Scientology, who was married to the leader, wouldn't be there.
Remini asked the question about Shelly earnestly; she was wondering where her friend was; she hadn't seen her in a while but not long enough yet that she was alarmed.
Tommy Davis, Cruise's Scientology handler and a Sea Org member, snapped at Remini and said, "You don't have the fucking rank to ask where Shelly is."
While such a statement may sound harsh and ridiculous to anyone else, Davis was right; Remini didn't have the rank to ask where Miscavige was. Shelly was a Sea Org member and a high-ranking executive in the Religious Technology Center. In Scientology, with the exception of Tom Cruise, civilian Scientologists are outranked by Sea Org members. Sea Org members not only control Scientology as an organization, but they also control the lives of civilian Scientologists.
But Remini, a fiercely dedicated, model Scientologist, had managed to retain a sliver of independence and was incredulous and shocked that she couldn't simply ask about where her friend was.
Remini also witnessed several things at the Cruise/Holmes wedding that shocked her. For example, she saw Miscavige's longtime communicator (an assistant who always accompanied him, previously she and Shelly were the two women constantly with him), Laurisse "Lou" Henley-Smith tap Miscavige's butt, which, since Miscavige was still married to Shelly, would have been something that would have gotten most any other Scientologist written up.
Remini managed to have a duality many Scientologists have; she was generally tough and cynical with a take-no-prisoners attitude, but she also maintained a hopeful naivety about Scientology.
That hopeful naivety led her to take a step that would soon lead her down a path to the worst nightmare of her life.
Like all totalitarian and authoritarian states, Scientology has a mandatory snitch culture. Scientologists spend a great deal of time filing reports about one another, which are routed up to Scientology's ethics department.
One of these reports is called a "knowledge report" or a "KR."
Remini called her assistant from Rome and dictated several knowledge reports on everyone from Tom Cruise to David Miscavige.
Remini earnestly believed she was helping the organization she saw as her religion, which she truly felt was saving humanity. By filing the reports, Remini was following L. Ron Hubbard's policies as they were written, which is the way every Scientologist is required to follow them.
Every Scientologist except for David Miscavige and Tom Cruise.
Remini's naivety and earnestness turned out to be a critical error that would end up causing her significant psychological and financial devastation.
After the wedding, Remini was ordered by her Scientology handler Shane Woodruff to go to Clearwater, Florida, the spiritual headquarters of Scientology known as "FLAG."
There, Remini was subjected to months of Scientology interrogations called sec-checks or security checks. She was repeatedly asked if she had evil intentions towards Tom Cruise and David Miscavige while holding the cans of the e-meter, a Scientology lie detector.
Remini was also put through a Scientology process called "The Truth Rundown." Usually only reserved for Sea Org members, the process is meant to rewrite a person's memories.
There is no equivalent in any other organization that calls itself a religion of The Truth Rundown. The only thing it can be compared to is the tactics used by North Korea and China to re-educate disaffected citizens.
After weeks of 12-hour days where she was being interrogated, Remini started to disassociate to a frightening degree. She felt she was on the verge of having a psychotic break. She finally gave in and withdrew her knowledge reports to save herself.
The Truth Rundown worked.
Remini then started to make amends; she apologized for things she never did and bought expensive gifts for everyone from Cruise and Holmes to others she was told were upset by what they claimed was her disruptive behavior at the wedding.
Scientology billed Remini hundreds of thousands of dollars for months of interrogations and psychological torture.
But Remini remained stubborn about trying to find out what happened to Shelly. From 2006-2013, she repeatedly found ways to ask about her whereabouts.
She kept sending notes to Shelly even though she never heard back. She asked David Miscavige in private meetings about Shelly. He said he had to keep her away to protect her from suppressive persons (a Scientology term for people who are enemies) trying to take Scientology down. She would bring up her disappearance with fellow civilian Scientologists (they would write knowledge reports on her for doing this) and ask Scientology officials about Shelly.
Tumblr media
An excerpt from a note Leah Remini sent to her Scientology handler Shane Woodruff in 2012. Remini refers to Dave Petit a number of times in the note, Petit is the Commanding Officer of Scientology’s Celebrity Centre.
Remini's questions about Shelly, and the lack of response and defensiveness from her fellow Scientologists, also led her to dig into other allegations against Scientology. Why was she hearing stories about Scientologists going bankrupt because Scientology pressured them to fork over every cent they had? Why was she hearing about Miscavige beating top Scientology executives? Why were so many of the top Scientology executives who spoke at major events she attended for decades declared suppressive persons or vanished just as Shelly had?
Scientologists are ordered never to read negative information about Scientology, and they aren't allowed to speak to former Scientologists who have been declared Suppressive persons (they must disconnect from them, or they will be declared suppressive as well).
But Remini did all that anyway; she started googling about Scientology and talking to former Scientology executives like Mike Rinder, who had escaped Scientology in 2007.
Everything started coming to a head in 2012 and 2013 as Scientology officials began to see Remini as a significant problem. They started to isolate her friends from her and tried to do the same thing with her family.
On July 5, 2013, journalist Tony Ortega reported that sources had told him Remini had left Scientology. Exactly one month later, she filed her missing persons report on Shelly.
The Responsibility of Leaders
Michele "Shelly" Diane Miscavige (née Barnett) was born in January 1961.
She became a Scientologist at age four when her parents joined. When she was 12, her parents signed over parental rights to L. Ron Hubbard, and Shelly joined the Commodore's Messenger Organization (CMO).
Shelly, a 12-year-old girl, joined a group of other kids, most of whom were minors, in serving L. Ron Hubbard on the Scientology ship "The Apollo," which was sailing all over the world so that Hubbard could avoid government authorities and process servers by remaining in international waters as much as possible.
L. Ron Hubbard was Shelly's father, and his wife Mary Sue was now their mother.
In that age of Scientology, messengers had enormous power and influence even though they were all so young because they had direct access to Hubbard, who was already seen as an infallible god-like figure by Scientologists even though the organization was still in its infancy.
Shelly's closeness to Hubbard was an asset of Shelly's for most of her life, but later it would prove to be her undoing.
In 1982, Shelly married David Miscavige, who was incredibly ambitious and had already made a name for himself by age 22. In 1986, after Hubbard died as a recluse, Miscavige, just 26, began a two-year process that led to his ruthless and violent takeover of Scientology. On at least one occasion, Miscavige was aided by off-duty LAPD officers in his hostile takeover.
Miscavige named himself "Chairman of the Board of the Religious Technology Center." The Religious Technology Center is the organization that controls Scientology and all of Scientology's various organizations and front groups.
Scientologists refer to Miscavige as COB, and he named Shelly COB Assistant (in this context, think of her as chief of staff).
For nearly 20 years, Shelly served her husband and Scientology dutifully. But everything began to unravel in the early 2000s.
After Miscavige survived a series of significant events, investigations, and controversies that could have taken him down, he shifted from someone who would regularly display flashes of anger to someone who lived in a constant state of volcanic fury which was mixed with the use of physical violence against Scientology's top executives.
In the early 2000s, Shelly quietly began questioning her husband's sanity in conversations with Scientology executives on the base where she lived and worked with Miscavige.
In 2006, after she made the fatal error of reorganizing an organizational board of key staff without permission while Miscavige was out of town, Shelly knew her time had come: she was persona non grata.
Scientologists are ruthless in how they go about their everyday lives; they're taught emotions like empathy and sympathy is bad. By all accounts, Shelly was incredibly tough and could be harsh, extremely demanding, and had a temper of her own. But she was also noted for her touches of genuine generosity and her attempts to calm her husband's worst instincts.
But after she fell out of favor, Shelly began to face sec-checks (interrogations) and became a shell of her former self. Gone was the hard-charging boss; she was now living in constant fear. At one point, Shelly meekly asked Mike Rinder if he noticed if her husband was wearing his wedding band. That display of vulnerability would have been unthinkable before.
Shelly Miscavige on her wedding day in December 1982. Twenty-four years later, she would transition from being the second most powerful official in Scientology to meekly asking a Scientology executive if he saw her husband wearing his wedding ring.
Then, she vanished. Shelly was seen being escorted into a car in tears in 2006. From then on, except for an appearance at her father's funeral in August 2007, she has never been seen again.
Over a dozen former Scientology officials have said that they believe Shelly is living, and possibly working, at The Church of Spiritual Technology (CST) base, located in Twin Peaks, California, in San Bernardino County, California.
The CST is the Scientology organization charged with preserving Hubbard's writings.
In 2021, I noticed via a records search that Shelly received mail at a PO Box in Blue Jay, California, just two miles from the Twin Peaks compound. Other Scientologists who worked for the CST were also receiving mail there.
Gary "Jackson" Morehead, the former security chief of the secretive Scientology base in Riverside County, California, known as "Gold," said that he believes Shelly is likely being handled in a way that doesn't make her feel too restricted but also doesn't give her any real freedom.
Morehead told Claire Headley, a former top Scientology official who reported directly to Shelly Miscavige and David Miscavige for years, on her podcast series, that his assessment of how Shelly was being treated was based on how other women with highly sensitive information that could damage Scientology (like Hubbard's wife Mary Sue) were treated when it was decided that they would be disappeared.
Shelly may not feel totally restricted on the CST base, but by no stretch of the imagination does she have any true freedom of movement, association, or expression.
A team of Scientology security agents surrounds Shelly 24/7, and her life is managed and controlled by three Sea Org members who all report directly to Miscavige and send written reports to him regularly about Shelly's mood, activities, and what she says to them.
Over the years, I have heard horrifying stories about these three women from sources; the incidents range from cruel to criminal.
Once, a senior Scientology CS (case supervisor who oversees auditing) in Los Angeles had mislabeled someone's auditing session records.
As a punishment, Joasem forced the elderly woman outside and hosed her down with cold water in front of other Sea Org members. The woman, who had MS, was frightened and humiliated.
A former senior Scientology auditor told me that Benhraiem threatened to kill a 15-year-old victim of statutory rape if she reported the rape to the LAPD. The 15-year-old believed, as did others, that Benhraiem was serious about her threat, and as a result, she was too terrified to file a report with the LAPD.
Tisi once kept Jenna Miscavige Hill, the niece of David Miscavige, who would later write the bombshell memoir about her life in Scientology, locked in a room for hours, against her will, to Sec Check her.
Claire Headley told me that after she had been forced to have one abortion by Scientology officials (Sea Org members are no longer allowed to have children), Tisi Sec Checked her when she got pregnant for the second time and that Tisi, along with another Scientology official, pressured her into having a second abortion.
Over the years, people have wondered how Shelly would respond if the FBI showed up at the CST base and told Shelly that she was free to leave and that they would protect her as she exited. Most people assume that she would jump at the chance and leave under the protection of the FBI.
But based on conversations I've had with former top Scientology executives who knew Shelly well, she likely wouldn't leave that easily. She might insist that she was perfectly happy at the CST base.
Why? The answer, as always, lies in Scientology policy.
First, Scientologists are brainwashed into believing that law enforcement is one of their greatest enemies. Scientologists, especially Sea Org members, are drilled repeatedly on how to lie to law enforcement to protect Scientology.
Shelly probably wouldn't feel safe with law enforcement. But the reality is, as Mike Rinder has explained before, Shelly likely believes that she has done horrible things and deserves to be where she's at. She also likely believes that she must stay at CST to protect L. Ron Hubbard's writings and that she is waiting for Hubbard to return and take over Scientology from her husband, David.
“She Could Take The Whole Thing Down”
No one disappears someone in the way Miscavige has disappeared Shelly unless they pose a clear threat to their position.
Shelly poses a fatal threat not only to Miscavige as Scientology's leader but to Miscavige personally and to Scientology as an organization.
Shelly is a threat for two reasons.
First, from 1986 to 2005, Shelly witnessed everything David Miscavige did.
It was so jarring for Scientologists like Remini not to see Shelly standing alongside Miscavige because she was always by his side. For twenty years, Shelly and Miscavige's communicator Laurisse "Lou" Henley Smith, would shadow Miscavige in every interaction and meeting, and both were always next to him in his office.
Both Shelly and Henley Smith would have tape recorders turned on at all times to record every word Miscavige said. Those tapes were then transcribed by a team of typists and turned into orders that Miscavige's compliance chief would then disseminate to Scientology officials.
Shelly witnessed everything from Miscavige overseeing complex operations to intimidate whistleblowers and witnesses. She facilitated Miscavige's access to the confessions of crime by Scientologists during their auditing sessions. Shelly was copied on every single internal report that went to Miscavige, many of which were filled with details of criminal and unethical activity.
She also witnessed Miscavige physically assaulting Scientology executives regularly. Shelly was privy to his involvement in various matters ranging from the lengths he went to obtain tax exemption for Scientology from the IRS to the circumstances surrounding the death of Lisa McPherson, a Scientologist who passed away while under the care of Scientology in Clearwater, Florida. The McPherson case almost led to criminal charges against Miscavige.
These examples are merely the tip of the iceberg regarding what Shelly witnessed during her time at her husband's side.
The second reason Shelly is a threat to Miscavige is her relationship with L. Ron Hubbard. Because she worked directly for Hubbard as a messenger, Shelly has a lot of moral authority with Scientologists who are in awe of anyone that was that close to the man who guides every single part of their life. Mike Rinder and Tom DeVocht (a former top Scientology executive who worked closely with the Miscaviges) said that if anyone could incite a mutiny against Miscavige, it would be Shelly.
Seventeen years after she was disappeared by her husband, Shelly still holds the unique power that only Tom Cruise has.
If she were willing to share what she knows, she could end Scientology as we know it. And that's precisely why she's been stripped of all her freedoms.
A Missed Opportunity
Janis Gillham Grady, one of the original Hubbard Commodore Messengers on the Apollo ship, has known Shelly since she was 12.
Grady draws a parallel between peeling layers from an onion and the little moments that lead Scientologists, who eventually leave, to recognize Scientology as a fraud.
What if the LAPD detectives had followed standard law enforcement procedures and informed Shelly that a missing persons report had been filed on her? What if after they informed Shelly that her old friend Leah Remini was the one who filed the report? What if they had pushed her to learn why she didn't appear in public anymore? What if they asked her why she had cut off every friend she had known for decades?
The so-called onion peeling could have begun when she returned home after meeting with the detectives. Knowing that someone like Leah cared about her and was trying to fight for her could have sparked a realization that could have made her wonder if everything she had been told was a lie. Perhaps her handlers told her that people like Leah were disgusted with her and didn't want to know her. At that point, and still today, there's a strong possibility that Shelly had no idea that Leah had left Scientology, who the president was, and that millions of people were tweeting and posting about her plight.
The LAPD's refusal to follow standard law enforcement procedures may have robbed Shelly of ten years of freedom.
"You probably won't have another chance to get out."
Ten years after Remini filed the missing person's report, the memory of Shelly Miscavige is growing distant, the friends she grew up with in Scientology are in their late 60s, 70s, and 80s, and some have died since she disappeared.
And the idea that Shelly could be free to live as she pleases seems ever more improbable.
It's a reality that Remini was well aware of when she wrote that letter to Shelly just weeks after Remini herself officially left Scientology. The same note she had hoped would be given to Shelly by the LAPD detectives.
Remini ended the letter with a warning, "If you don't do it now, you probably won't have another chance to get out."
Remini was focused on Scientology as the obstacle to Shelly's freedom; at the time, she was idealizing the LAPD as the organization that could rescue her friend.
She had no idea that the law enforcement agency she had hoped would liberate Shelly was helping to achieve David Miscavige's goal of turning Shelly into a non-person.
The LAPD didn't even think Shelly was worth an extra set of fingerprints."

The Warmth That Knew My Feelings | BFFs
In which Finn seeks out Nemo at their place and asks him for help...

The Truth Untold Pt. 1 Heart Won't Listen To These Words World Full of Uncertainty
FINN
Ariel wasn’t on board with breaking in without extra help. That meant he had to try Nemo. He really didn’t feel comfortable waiting for weeks until they could get a good group together to get in there. How could he when there was no guarantee that those two merfolk would still be there? The thought made his stomach churn and he found himself sitting at the kitchen table of the house, tapping his fingers restlessly on the table as he waited for Nemo to get home. He went ahead and made some tea as he waited, soothing himself a little with the warmth of the cup. It was fine. It was going to be fine right? Nemo would see why it was so urgent wouldn’t he? The door finally swung open and Finn straightened up, a smile spreading across his face as Nemo came in. “Hey! I was hoping you’d b-b-b-be home soon,” he greeted his friend softly. “How w-w-was your day?”
NEMO:
Nemo’s day had been long.  But that was the way Nemo liked it. He rolled out of bed every day normally knowing exactly what he’d be doing, then he flitted from thing to thing and place to place, like a bee pollinating flowers. Work, class, rehearsal, friends, and sometimes visits with Appa. The more full, the better. Now it was the end, and on Nemo’s packed schedule, there was a blissful stretch of nothing! And usually, that meant hanging out with his roommates. He grinned when he saw Finn. “Oh hey! It was pretty good. Jingles, you wouldn’t believe the last dog I helped out at work– he was huge!” Nemo exclaimed. “It took two people to get him cleaned and trim his fur. Ah, are you having tea? Is there still some water?” He wandered over to the kettle to investigate, suddenly getting a craving for tea himself. It had been a chilly walk home and his nose was still red.
FINN:
“Oh w-wow…really?” Finn had never had a big dog before. But Pannie had been good for him. Pannie had been little and sweet and cuddleable. Not that he thought that a big dog wouldn’t be one he could cuddle. It just wasn’t quite for him. Not that it mattered. Nemo worked at Ruff to Fluff, and Finn was picturing some big dog shaking his fur out and trying to wiggle out of their grip. It was an oddly cute mental image anyway.  Finn took a small sip of his tea. “There sh-sh-should be a bit more in there. And the kettle should still be p-p-pretty warm so you might get a decent cup out of that already.” Finn added, setting his own cup back down. “D-Do you want the same sort of flavor I’m having? I chose earl g-g-grey but I think there are a few other good options in that drawer there too.” He knew he’d gotten a few different tea flavors he liked. It had to be in one of the drawers Nemo was near.  “The rest of your day w-w-was good though right?”
NEMO:
“Oooo, lemme take a look…”  Personally, as a fairy, Nemo tended to favor sweeter flavors, wanting a higher sugar content. His kidneys processed sugar much better than humans did. Sooooo maybe something warm and fruity, sweet but not too sweet, like a raspberry or a lemon…  He fished out a bag then got a teaspoon of sugar to plunk into his mug.  “Huh? Oh, sure! Yeah, yanno. Typical day, I guess.” Nemo shrugged. He didn’t think there was much to report. His days were busy, but they also followed a predictable routine that kept Nemo’s anxiety in check. He liked it that way.  “What about you?” Nemo glanced back.
FINN:
That was good. He was glad Nemo had a pretty normal day. He wasn’t sure if he’d be able to ask Nemo for his help if his situation was weird or unpleasant. Even if it was really important to Finn. Granted, of the people he would ask, Nemo was the one person he trusted more than anybody. If anyone would be able to help with this… he was sure it would be him.  Finn hummed. “It w-w-was… well it was okay. B-But…” he faltered. How did he begin to explain it? Probably just the way it happened.  “Remember w-w-when I w-went to London with Ariel? W-W-We went to the aquarium there…” He was pretty sure he had at least told Nemo he was going to London with her. He didn’t really hide much of anything from Nemo. He didn’t see a need to.  The only thing he hadn’t had the chance to share…or known how to share was this. But it was still so shocking and new that it was hard to process. “Ariel and I found something there… I… I need your help w-w-with it.” Finn pulled out his phone so he could pull up some of the pictures that Ariel had taken, pushing his phone toward Nemo so he could see it.  “Look at that.”
NEMO:
Oh yeah, Nemo remembered the trip. He’d pouted a little– he would have tried to go but he’d been pretty busy with Full Moon stuff at the Hollow. A real bummer because Nemo loved the aquarium! His favorite animal was sharks! He’d bugged Finn to take as many pictures as he could. And Finn had dutifully obliged, sending pic after pic Nemo’s way throughout the day… But come to think of it, Finn had been weird since coming back. Nemo saw the twitch in Finn’s eyebrow and the slang of his mouth. Instantly, Nemo turned away from the kettle to give his friend his full attention. Something had happened. Something not good or… or Finn wouldn’t sound like this. The concern settling on Nemo’s own face, he took the phone and brought it closer to his face. He frowned. At first, Nemo wasn’t really sure what he was looking at. It was taken kinda far away, and the picture was not the best quality. Was that a big tank? He saw a flash of bright colour and glittering scales. He’d seen a tail like that before.  Nemo’s blood ran cold.  “Are those–” his breath caught and he looked up at Finn, eyes already panicked. “Those can’t be merpeople– are those merpeople?”
FINN:
Finn still felt as strong as he had the first time he’d seen these pictures. The way that those poor merpeople’s tails looked…their skin… the way that something in his gut just… couldn’t settle. His chin wobbled, and he nodded quickly, trying hard to fight the tears that built up instinctively.  He reached up and wiped his eyes quickly. “They are! They… Ariel saw them in p-p-person. They’re kept in this aw-aw-awful back part of the aquarium. P-P-Probably for ex-experiments a-a-a-and aw-awful stuff,” Finn explained, and then yeah he just gave up on the tears. Because it was awful. Horrible to see and to know that someone like him was treated so horribly. To see the evidence of what could happen to him if he ever slipped up about his secret.  “I… I want you to help me b-b-break them out of there,” Finn said after another minute. “I know it sounds… it sounds crazy… it sounds like…like something Louie would d-d-do…not me. B-B-B-But… B-But I mean… look at them. I just…” he sniffled. “Ariel said w-w-we should wait and get more help b-b-but what if… what if something even w-w-w-worse happens to them w-w-while we w-w-wait. Or they g-g-get moved some-somewhere else or…or something!”  He took a breath and let it out again. “I want to go back there and get them out. But I… I know I can’t do it alone.”
NEMO:
Merpeople kept in cold, cramped tanks in the aquarium. It was a nightmare. Something out of Appa’s horror stories, only his usually stared fairies tortured for their wing and blood and tears. Still, Nemo stared in horror until finally his body remembered how to move again. Then, he pulled up a chair and grabbed at Finn’s hand so he could squeeze it tight. He’d been thinking along the lines of– We gotta tell someone about this! He was going to offer Finn a chance to talk to, to the police or Queen Clarion, maybe. Anyone who might know what to do. His eyes nearly bugged out of his head when Finn suggested that they do something instead.  “Us?” Nemo uttered. And yeah, it was nutty. It was actually way nuttier than any of Louie’s harebrained schemes, to be honest, though Nemo knew that if Louie was in this seat, he’d probably agree without hesitation. Nemo– well, he hesitated. He was thinking about those horror stories again. Nemo gulped. “I– I mean, I want to help!” Nemo exclaimed. “Of course I want to but– are we really the best people? Finny, those criminals keeping those merpeople probably have guns and other weapons! I’m not sure how to take that on,” he confessed.  Ariel was right. They should talk to someone who’d know the right move. But Finn was right too– they had to act fast.  “At the very least, we need someone who knows how to fight! Like a scout-talent or something!”
FINN:
“I mean may-may-maybe not b-b-but we’re the ones who know and c-c-can do something!” Of course Finn didn’t think he was the best person for the job. He didn’t think he was especially brave or strong or any of that. But he knew he could at least try. For these poor merpeople. Because they needed someone to try.  Who knew how much time they would have?  The thought of guns and other weapons absolutely terrified him. Of course it did. Finn had always been a coward. He might never have considered taking something like this on. But these merpeople needed help! And he wanted to do something! No matter how scary it was.  “They’ll try to st-st-stop us!” Finn said next. “If w-w-we tell someone else…you know they w-w-would. They’d tell us to w-w-wait and then…and then if we w-w-wait too long…” he faltered, his breathing hitching a little. “Those people could d-d-die.”
NEMO:
Finn wasn’t being rational. Nemo didn’t blame him. Thorns, Nemo had been him, on more than one occasion. Usually, it was Nemo’s emotions that blew through him so intensely that he lost all sight of direction. Finn had been there for him then, always there for Nemo when he came back to the ground again. Nemo wanted to be that for Finn but– how?! If he just said no, Finn might go on his own. Nemo didn’t think he could stop him. Wasn’t it better to go with him? His stomach twisted. This was bad. He should call Appa or maybe Finn’s parents…but that felt awful too, he didn’t want Finn to get in trouble, and what if they did move the merpeople? That guilt, that weight, it would crush Finn forever. “R-right,” said Nemo. His brain moved into hyperspeed, heart hummingbird-fast too. But that was okay. That was his talent. Think fast, Nemo.  “Right, then– we should help,” said Nemo, nodding. “Yeah, we should do what we can.”  And Nemo could text James to meet them. James was a Scout. He’d at least know what to do and if Nemo told him he was already on the way, then James couldn’t stop him; he’d be forced to catch up.
FINN:
He waited with baited breath, it felt like. If Nemo said no to him… if he said no… well he didn’t know what he’d do, because Finn couldn’t deal with the fact that there were merfolk trapped in an aquarium being tormented and mistreated. He’d probably still go… but he sure didn’t want to. He wanted Ariel and Nemo with him.  Finn let out his breath once Nemo finally agreed, and he hurried forward, wrapping his arms around Nemo and squeezing him gently. “Thank you. Thank you thank you Nemo,” Finn said quickly, so beyond grateful that Nemo would help him do this. He was so lucky that he got to be friends with someone as good and kind as Nemo. “I’ll text Ariel. W-W-W-We can g-g-g-go into London on the wee-wee-weekend.” And Finn would try to come up with a good way for them to get inside and sneak those poor people out. He’d figure out some kind of plan by then.

September often brings that familiar back-to-school feeling — even for those long out of the classroom. But for students returning to college life or attending freshers’ week, it’s also a critical time to revisit sexual health. With sexually transmitted infections (STIs) rising sharply across Europe, refreshing our approach to protection, testing, and education is more urgent than ever. In September 2023, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) urged students to use condoms and get tested regularly to avoid interrupting their studies due to an infection. But this advice extends far beyond students — it’s a call to action for everyone. 📈 STIs on the Rise Across Europe Data from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) show a steep increase in STI cases across the continent between 2021 and 2022: Syphilis: +34% Chlamydia: +16% Gonorrhoea: +48% 📊 Source: ECDC Annual Epidemiological Report 2023 Ireland reflects this broader trend. According to Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) data (2019–2022): Chlamydia cases rose 20% Gonorrhoea increased 45% Syphilis climbed 14% 👉 Ireland STI Surveillance Reports Young adults under 30 remain the most affected group. In particular: Women aged 20–24 recorded the highest notification rate: 3,088 per 100,000 Between 2022 and 2023, gonorrhoea cases rose 133% in women aged 20–24 Among men aged 15–19, cases increased 55% 🌍 Migrants and MSM Face Greater Risks In Ireland, men who have sex with men (MSM) represent a significant portion of STI cases: 84% of gonorrhoea 71% of syphilis infections in 2022 Source: HPSC MSM STI Report STI data for migrants in Ireland is limited, but insights from HIV Ireland and the EMIS (European MSM Internet Survey) indicate: 17% of new HIV diagnoses in Ireland had bacterial STI co-infections; this rose to 26% among MSM 24% of new HIV diagnoses were from Latin America, 20% from sub-Saharan Africa Refugees and asylum seekers reported higher rates of condomless sex compared to native-born populations 📌 EMIS 2017 Key Findings Additional challenges for migrant and refugee populations include: Inadequate knowledge of sexual health Language and financial barriers Stigma, discrimination, and trauma from sexual violence UNHCR estimates that 1 in 5 refugees has experienced sexual violence, though underreporting likely means the actual number is higher.Source: UNHCR – Sexual and Gender-Based Violence ⬇️ What’s Behind the Decline in Condom Use? One of the clearest contributors to the STI surge is the decline in condom use. But what’s driving this trend? Research shows that sexual health is influenced by a range of individual, social, and structural factors — a model known as the socio-ecological framework. These include: The rise of dating apps has been linked to higher STI rates, particularly gonorrhoea and chlamydia (source). Increased porn consumption may correlate with higher likelihood of engaging in condomless sex (source). Use of PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) has lowered HIV risk among MSM but is often accompanied by increased STI diagnoses (source). In Ireland, MSM diagnosed with an STI were 53% more likely to report recreational drug use. Wider social issues also impact sexual health: Youth homelessness in Ireland increased 57% between 2017–2022 (source) Inward migration rose by 31% in 2023 (source) Advocacy groups like Nasc have highlighted challenges migrants face in accessing sexual health services, including condoms. 🛠 Addressing the Challenge: Action and Equity To reverse the rise in STI cases, governments must take a multi-pronged approach: Invest in sexual health education, housing, and public awareness Ensure access to affordable, culturally sensitive care for all, including migrants and LGBTQ+ communities Expand at-home testing tools like SH:24, now offering free STI testing across Ireland Support peer-led community testing programs, which have succeeded in Dublin but are missing elsewhere Everyone deserves a safe, healthy, and fulfilling sex life. Upholding this right means ensuring universal access to appropriate services, information, and legal protections that affirm dignity and equality. With the right investment in education, access, and structural reform, we can stop the spread of STIs — and support healthier communities across Europe. Read the full article

Similac Safety Concerns: Understanding the Risks and What Parents Should Know
Tumblr media
In early 2022, Abbott Nutrition initiated a voluntary recall of certain powdered Similac, Alimentum, and EleCare infant formulas manufactured at its Sturgis, Michigan facility due to the Similac recall. This action was prompted by reports of Cronobacter sakazakii and Salmonella Newport infections in infants who had consumed these products. The recall was expanded in February 2022 to include additional products after further investigations revealed potential contamination risks.
What Is Cronobacter sakazakii and Why Is It Dangerous?
Cronobacter sakazakii is a rare but potentially life-threatening bacterium that can cause severe infections in infants, particularly those under two months old, premature babies, or those with weakened immune systems. Infections can lead to conditions such as meningitis, sepsis, and necrotizing enterocolitis. Symptoms may include poor feeding, irritability, temperature changes, jaundice, grunting breaths, abnormal movements, lethargy, rash, or blood in the urine or stool.
How to Identify Recalled Products
To determine if your Similac, Alimentum, or EleCare powdered formula is part of the recall, check the lot number located near the expiration date on the bottom of the container. The recalled products have:
Lot codes starting with "22" through "37"
Contain "K8," "SH," or "Z2" in the code
Expiration dates of April 1, 2022, or later
Additionally, Abbott recalled one lot of Similac PM 60/40 with lot code 27032K80 (can) / 27032K800 (case) due to a reported Cronobacter sakazakii infection.
What Should Parents Do?
If you have purchased a recalled product:

Legal Actions and Ongoing Concerns
In the aftermath of the recall, several lawsuits have been filed against Abbott Nutrition. In August 2024, a judge allowed the parents of a 13-day-old Kentucky girl who died after consuming contaminated Similac formula to proceed with their lawsuit against the company. The family alleges that the formula was contaminated with Cronobacter sakazakii, leading to the infant's death.
Conclusion
The Similac recall serves as a stark reminder of the importance of stringent safety standards in infant nutrition. Parents should remain vigilant, regularly check product lot numbers, and consult healthcare professionals if they have concerns about the safety of infant formulas. Ensuring the health and safety of our children must always be the top priority.
