Got an assessment back from one of my applications and while I still don't know if they'll actually pick me or not it is a relief to have formal confirmation that my applications aren't considered embarrassingly bad.

#I am 'qualified with a relevant background and good grades' :D #(the latter part I can only take to mean they didn't look at/care about my undergrad grades which. good. whole point of my masters #grade-wise is proving I can do better than that when I'm not incredibly burnt out/having a mild mental breakdown)#I mean I assumed my supervisor would have warned me if I were submitting embarrassingly bad applications #but I did have that dream about a selection committee viciously tearing it apart & have been low-key worried ever since #....particularly good timing to get this on the day that I yet again failed to attend a careers fair I signed up to #which. sigh. I know. but. woke up late and tired and overstimulated and decided my time would be better spent trying to actually get some #progress on the thesis than hearing about how I could work for. checks notes. a sports betting company.#I still have time to make it to some of the less soul-sucky presentations though #liveblogging my masters

Not a request, but after the past few posts I wanted to let you know that I saw the Detective Conan 4D / live action show at USJ last week and that was my first official introduction to the series. Seriously considering going down this rabbit hole now.

#this is the best & most complete version of it ive found! it does use the localized names tho. so. jimmy kudo rachel moore etc etc #you can get the anime too ofc but the dub is um. interesting shall we say. it does have jerry jewell who is a national treasure #but they uh. make some interesting localization choices. and ive never watched the sub so idk how good it is #anyway once again fair warning this manga is batshit fucking insane ridiculously long and incredibly text heavy #but i love it <3 so #edit: nevermind the chapter i just read pissed me off dont read this manga #how do you write this many murder mysteries and not know that theres a very clear difference between entrance and exit gunshot wounds #THE GIMMICK DOESNT EVEN WORK. YOU CANT MISTAKE AN EXIT WOUND FOR AN ENTRANCE WOUND ESPECIALLY NOT AT POINT BLANK RANGEEEEE #sigh. being american sucks i wish i didnt know enough about guns to pick out the problem with that. anyways skip chapter 555 it sucks

Why do you want your characters to remain static over a multi-year time jump? Why do you want them to act as if no time has passed at all, when it has? Why do you want characters to always act the same and not react to their new changing environment?

I CANT USE CSS ON ARTFIGHT...............

#I WAS REALLY HOPING TO FIX THE FUCKING. PARAGRAPH WIDTH. SIGH #idk why but it stretches across the ENTIRE page like. it takes up the full width of the browser and it BOTHERS ME. ON ALL THE PAGES #i could try manually putting shift breaks but im worried it might not look so good on mobile. ugghh... auyggghhh.....#im already learning CSS and API so i thought i could put it to good use but. AUGH #this whole time ive had to go into the inspect panel myself and change the padding so i dont have to read the length of the screen #like a fucking typewriter... i would have also loved to use custom fonts and animations......#i did find a guide for BBCode which the site uses on default and it covers basic styling but its not the same. sniffle #you CAN unlock CSS if you donate $25 to the page which seems fair. and if i could do it i would but. i do not have any way of #sending or receiving money online </3 i really need to figure out how to do that so i can set up comms like i said i would last summer #but it intimidates me.... and im already kept on a short leash when it comes to that so it feels like a lot of things could go wrong #i think toyhouse allows CSS or some sort of code...?? i remember seeing some oc pages with custom layouts #if thats the case i'll try fiddling with it but im not very familiar with using toyhouse so thatll take a while #(thanks again for the code sal ^_^ ill put it on my pin once its ready but im trying to learn my way around the site heh ;;)#at least i can use my pixel dividers.. ive been digging around for pixels to use and found some really cute ones #yapping

I get it. I get it. I get that this is just a thing people say, this is just a way people phrase this kind of idea. They even state outright that this isn’t really Simon’s fault. They have Betty talking about how she made choices. And yet. And yet. And yet.

Allowed! Allowed! Allowed! They convey this information to us through a choose-your-own-adventure game where Simon makes all the choices! They say he could have noticed this… thing that he never once noticed until it was clearly spelled out to him. He could have offered to go with Betty - Like she was simply not capable of speaking up for herself? Like it was completely out of the question for her to ever say “I’d actually rather do my own thing” (like we haven’t seen her many, many, many times charging ahead with her own plans and ideas no matter what people say to her)? Like the only way she could ever have made choices more focused on herself is if Simon made them for her.

I don’t think this is even actually what the writers meant to say. But the way they do all this leaves such a bad taste in my mouth regardless.

#the most base concept is fine with me.#‘betty sacrificed so much for simon that she completely lost her idea of who she was independent of him #and he never actually picked up on this happening #and it might do him some good to realize it’ yeah that’s fair #but the entire way they do it. has me clawing my eyes out #THERE IS MORE TO THEIR DYNAMIC THAN THIS 1 FUCKING THING.#AND ALL OF THIS STUFF WAS BETTYS OWN CHOICES AND YOURE JUST IGNORING #HER AUTONOMY AND HER PERSPECTIVE.#SIGHS.#basilposting #atposting #atlb #long post #maybe #Allowed……… Allowed!!!!!!!
