【Lansheng Technology News】STMicroelectronics recently added a new software to the STM32Cube development kit to simplify the connection of high-performance Internet of Things (IoT) devices to the AWS cloud.
STMicroelectronics has released the X-CUBE-AWS-H5 expansion package, allowing IoT devices to seamlessly and securely access the AWS cloud. This software extension package contains a set of software libraries and application code examples designed for specialized terminal equipment STM32H5 series high-performance microcontrollers.
The solution, based on the FreeRTOS open source real-time operating system and STMicroelectronics’ Secure Manager embedded security software, works with the recently released STM32H5 Discovery Kit, allowing developers to easily and securely connect STM32H5-based IoT device prototypes to AWS IoT Core Internet of Things Platform.

Combined with STMicroelectronics' security manager, this method can simplify the registration process of smart devices in the AWS cloud, without the need to purchase expensive security infrastructure, and protect the identity of IoT devices during the production process.
During production and at the installation site, the device can also enjoy remote network provisioning and certificate management services from third-party service providers.
Secure Manager's isolation function can protect intellectual property rights jointly held by multiple parties, also known as multi-party IP protection. This software is part of a comprehensive security service that protects the confidentiality and integrity of the assets of STM32 application developers and partners during the development and manufacturing process and at the installation site.

【Lansheng Technology News】On September 27, 2023, STMicroelectronics recently released a new security software to simplify cloud connections between high-performance STM32H5-based IoT devices and Microsoft Azure IoT Hub.
STMicroelectronics’ STM32Cube software extension package X-CUBE-AZURE-H5 contains a set of software libraries and application routines designed for end equipment STM32H5 series high-performance microcontrollers.
This application example illustrates the secure cloud connection method between IoT devices and Azure IoT Hub, including network configuration and data publishing. The application handles Azure® messages, methods, and device twin update commands. The solution also leverages ST’s embedded security software, Secure Manager, to securely connect the STM32H5 to the Microsoft Azure cloud.
Daniel Colona, STM32 marketing director at STMicroelectronics, said: “With its advanced processor architecture and enhanced security, STM32H5 can be used in the next generation of IoT devices. By using the STM32Cube reference software code and the powerful services of Azure IoT Hub, developers can Transform the data collected by the equipment into actionable recommendations to help them make informed decisions, optimize production operations, and improve product and service quality.”
Kam VedBrat, general manager of Azure IoT at Microsoft, said: "With the chip's advanced security features, the STM32H5 can simplify the secure connection and management of high-performance IoT devices and ensure that devices are securely connected to the Azure IoT Hub cloud."
The STM32H5 MCU is programmed with code in STMicroelectronics’ own factory to ensure that the identity of each MCU is unique. Device identity information is managed by Secure Manager security software, allowing smart devices to easily complete the registration process in the Azure IoT Hub cloud service, which is simple and cost-effective, without the need to implement product identity confidentiality measures during the product production process.
IoT devices and devices installed on-site can also enjoy remote network provisioning and certificate management services from third-party service providers. Secure Manager saves the certificates required for devices to connect to Azure IoT Hub in the STM32H5 MCU, as well as other device confidential information data.
Secure Manager's isolation function facilitates the protection of intellectual property rights jointly held by multiple parties on the same platform, also known as multi-party IP protection. This comprehensive security service provides STM32 application developers and partner assets with comprehensive confidentiality and integrity protection from equipment development and manufacturing to the installation site.

NewTec ist neuer Safety-Partner von STMicroelectronics
Hersteller profitieren von NewTecs Safety-Know-how beim Einsatz von STM8- und STM32-Mikrocontrollern in sicherheitskritischen Umgebungen Pfaffenhofen an der Roth, 19. Mai 2020. NewTec, Spezialist für sicherheitsrelevante elektronische Systeme, ist Partner des Halbleiterherstellers STMicroelectronics. Im Rahmen des ST-Partnerprogramms wird NewTec die Kunden des weltweit fünftgrößten Halbleiterunternehmens bei der Entwicklung von funktional sicheren Produkten auf Basis der Mikrocontroller STM8 und STM32 unterstützen. Die Mikrocontroller sind ideal für elektronische Systeme in Kraftfahrzeugen (STM8) und Industrieanlagen (STM32), aber auch in medizinischen Geräten und elektrischen Haushaltsgeräten. Für den Einsatz in sicherheitskritischen Umgebungen bietet STMicroelectronics verschiedene kostenlose, zertifizierte Entwicklungspakete für funktionale Sicherheit an. Als "ST Authorized Partner" wird NewTec jetzt Hersteller bei der Integration der STM8- und STM32-Controller in sicherheitskritische Umgebungen unterstützen. Unter Einbeziehung der Safety Packages und der Hardwarearchitekturen bietet NewTec Consulting, Trainings und herstellerspezifische Entwicklungen an. B. zur Umsetzung der IEC-61508-Anforderungen bis SIL 3 (Safety Integrity Level 3) oder der ISO-13849-Anforderungen bis PLe Cat4 (Performance Level, Kategorie 4).
