had. some thoughts about Charlie and Michael.

like Henry shows up at the Afton Household with the twins about a month after they were born, and is like Hey Will, wanna meet the kids? and then Michael meets her and William goes Hey so uh. Uncle Henry had some kids 🤗 and that's. just how they met. Michael was like two and they just kinda sat and stared at each other the whole time.

then Michael turns five, and the twins are brought over for the party. Charlie, who's now two, just sits there and stares at him and goes You sound weird 0_0 and Michael goes ?? What do you mean?? and she just goes You sound like Uncle Will and. then it clicks for Mike and he goes ???? I'm British?? and Charlie just kinda blinks and goes. I thought you were Mikey? 0_0 and that's when Michael decides that he's willing to die for this kid.

they basically just grow up together. Mike practically considers her and Sammy to be siblings of his. and then of course Liz is born. and then Adrian (CC). and Charlie's also there. as they grow older and Charlie reaches her final elementary school years, Charlie introduces him to this other kid around her age. they've got this dress on and they look like they want to claw their skin off if they have to wear that dress any longer and Charlie goes ^_^ this is my new friend Cassidy ^_^ and he goes Alright then. Glad you've got friends now.

then everything goes to shit. He Definitely Takes It Well (< lashes out by taking out his anger and bitterness on his father and younger brother. he feels like he's lost two sisters in only a couple of months even if, technically, he's only lost one).

Cassidy disappearing certainly doesn't help things. going into Fredbear's is a nightmare for more reasons than just his brother being an utter crybaby. it's almost like all the warmth of this place was sucked out and only a cold hatred is left in it's place. it's like the very atmosphere shifts whenever him and his family enter the place.

then things go even More wrong. like. Very Wrong.

and then we just get to present day(ish) where it's just:

Charlie, a ghost: Michael, look. I get why you feel determined to Fix This Shit, but need I remind you that Your Father Is Literally Trying To Kill You.

so. i wanted to talk about The Specific Incident that caused Michael to run away from home and live with Henry and Sammy.

so y'know how, canonically, Michael apparently looks enough like William for people to confuse the two?

well. i dunno if it's just me, but i think there should be more William-Michael comparisons :) specifically ones that are pointed out to Michael and cause some Angst :)

after Adrian died, the next few days were...tense. William didn't seem all that angry. but Mikey knows one thing about his dear old dad:

if he's quiet during a time you think he should be angry?

then he's f**king pissed.

Michael feels like he's walking on eggshells in his own house now. he genuinely didn't mean to hurt Adri, much less kill him! but he's f**ked up Big Time now. you can't reverse death. there's no amount of apologizing and sobbing at someone's feet that can make what he did okay.

he got his baby brother killed, for Pete's sake! no, he killed his baby brother. he feels like a monster. he feels like the worst brother ever. he's got blood on his hands that he can't remove.

(he doesn't think that he's cried so much since Lizzy died and Mom divorced Dad. he clutches Cass, the stuffed bear his brother used to carry around. it's practically all he has left of Adri.

he can see why his brother carried this thing around so much now.)

it's one day in the living room, when the pair is watching TV, that s**t hits the fan. Michael kept his eyes glued to the screen, not daring to look up at his father. William's practically watching him like a hawk the whole time.

he says it casually, like what he's about to say won't utterly shatter Michael's world forever.

"You and I aren't so different, are we?

Michael freezes. he turns to his father. "...W-What did you say?"

William just smiles at him, like this is a perfectly normal conversation to have with your son.

"You aren't all that different from me, don't you think, Michael? :)"

Michael doesn't say anything, he just goes back to watching TV. his mind is racing, though.

he's not stupid. he's got an idea of what his father means by that.

William has been a main suspect in the Missing Children's Incident and Charlie's Murder for over a year now, after all.

his father, if he's right about this, clearly doesn't have a problem with killing kids only a couple of years younger than him. he's only fifteen. Charlie and Cassidy were twelve when they were killed.

if William doesn't have a problem killing a couple of twelve-year-olds and making one of them disappear,

then he probably wouldn't have much of an issue doing that to him, a fifteen-year-old.

he sits there for about ten more minutes, before getting up, saying that he's going to bed. he doesn't actually go to bed. he packs a small bag with some items and clothes, including Cass, the Fredbear plush, and sneaks out the window.

Henry is a bit surprised to see Michael on his doorstep, holding a bag and a bear, near tears and clearly scared out of his mind. he understands completely, though, when he hears the first words out of Michael's mouth:

"I-I think my dad wants to kill me."

and thus starts Michael's decades long journey to help put the spirits of Freddy's to rest, and to finally make it up to Adrian. because his father might say that both of them are murderers, that they're monsters, but i'd say that there's a big difference between the two:

William never felt a shred of remorse for killing those kids, for tearing their families apart.

Michael practically spent the rest of his life trying to atone for his sins and apologize to his brother.

Dandy I've now suddenly spiraled into religion in the Afton household and what it would do to Michael's journey.

Do you think either his mom or his step-mom would encourage it, help ease their kids' minds? Do you think Adrian would try praying for something to take the monsters in his house away as he swept through his final days? Do you think William would care for it at all, or just use it to satisfy and justify his own sins?

Do you think Michael would stay up every night with a cross wrapped around his hands, begging for the universe to let him repent? Do you think when the Pizzeria Simulator location was coming down on him, he would think he'd finally atoned for his sins? Or that he was still as retched as his father and cursed to burn with him forever?
