I loved the first part of Nothing That I Didn't Know, but wondered who your ideal sandwich pairing is? 🥪
Santi x Frankie x Reader
Javi x Tim x Reader
Or maybe something else?
Or is there another one lurking in there?
I've been saving this one for a rainy day, @linzels-blog <3
SUCH DIFFICULT CHOICES.
Okay let me start by saying that, unfortunately for her, Javi x Tim x reader isn't even my ideal sandwich for that WIP. (That's not to say I don't love those three together though!) To me, this is the real MVP sandwich of that fic:
Tim Rockford x Javier Peña x Marcus Pike. I mean, I hope you're ready...
Then sometime in May next year, there's a Frankie Morales x Benny Miller x reader sandwich coming up for @rhoorl (which I think I mentioned here the other day? but my memory is shit so maybe I only mentioned it in a spiral squad evening on Discord, haha).
At some point I'll also get to writing a Javier Peña x Judy Moncada x reader sandwich one shot (first FFM fic, yay!). I'm looking forward to that one because that should be a trip - and yes, it's definitely going to be part hate fucking. (And lucky for me, I know that this one is definitely NOT gonna be more than just a one shot - unlike several WIPs that totally escalated) Thanks for the hyping on this one @legendary-pink-dot <3
I haven't taken any official notes for this yet, but I am planning a Dieter Bravo x Javier Gutierrez fic which I suspect may end up becoming more than just a one shot (hopefully it'll stay contained as a very short series, we'll see what happens). In that case, I'm pretty sure that there will also be a Dieter x Javi G x male original character or male!reader chapter (👀 @sin-djarin I know I haven't said anything about this yet because it was just a passing thought, but the vague idea for it *exists*)
But honestly?
Yeah, Santi x Frankie x reader is hands down my absolute favorite sandwich. For SO many reasons. It's how they actually pushed Tim x Javi aside, because they wanted to be the first fic I posted. What can I say - I have a really big soft spot for all three of them. Plus, y'know - Santi and Frankie, that's pretty much canon IMO, just look at Triple Frontier. <3
Thank you for asking and letting me yap about my sandwich love! Honestly, it's not like I only like threesome fics, or even that I intend to only write those (for example, there definitely is an Ezra x Marcus Pike WIP outline! And there's not going to be a sandwich pairing in there) - but, you know. There are so many fucking fantastic writers out there who write all kinds of pairings so beautifully, and I totally love that. I want to add something of myself and the things I care about to that.
Personally I'm a sucker for representation because I think it's super important for everybody to be able to see themselves reflected in fic, and even to just see the diversity of gender, sexuality, intimacy and all kinds of relationships. So bi, gay, lesbian and queer characters, as well as polyamorous relationships, really have been part of my fic ideas from the beginning - particularly because there are a lot fewer of those than straight male x female couple fics in the Pedro verse. I’m glad that you and others are here for that sandwich love ❤️🥪

How appropriate that July 26 this year will be celebrated in Santiago de Cuba as it is intertwined with every facet of Fidel’s life, from his early schooling to the Moncada to his final resting place.

Ir a Santiago (I).

A lavender orchid, as real as his love for its recipient, pressed between the pages of a journal with a brown faux-leather cover. The look and napped feel of it imitates that of precious materials, even if it itself is not made of any. Santiago reasons it's a safe gift to get Ithaca for her birthday -- who doesn't like to sit and jot down their thoughts? Vent one's frustrations into paper when no one else is around to lend an ear? Maybe such things are antiquated, but he figures there's a hundred ways a person can fill a journal. Ithaca is bound to find one. He sets the gift down on the sidetable next to her and then joins her on the couch. "Feliz cumpleaños. What will you do today?"
𝐁𝐈𝐑𝐓𝐇𝐃𝐀𝐘𝐒 𝐇𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐀𝐋𝐖𝐀𝐘𝐒 𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐀 𝐏𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐅𝐔𝐋 𝐒𝐔𝐁𝐉𝐄𝐂𝐓 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐇𝐄𝐑. they were either not celebrated , or been something of misery. she'd never had a good birthday -- until now. ithaca was surrounded by so many people who cared for her in ways she could not fathom. including santiago who had managed to steal her heart as quickly as she stole his. the journal is gorgeous and immediately ... the purple flower grabs her attention. an orchid. her favorite flower. it symbolized love , beauty , and all the precious moments in life. ❝ honestly i ... i'm not sure what i'm going to do. probably buy a new bottle of shitty booze , write in this gorgeous journal you just got me , and just relax. i don't have anything else waiting for me or in mind. ❞ she laughs quietly and watches as her cat brushes past. oriental short hair named mocha with how brown it was. ithaca paid serious money to get it to night city and she loved that cat more than herself if she was being honest. it brushes up to santiago , expecting the least bit of love. ithaca sighs and leans against her partner with her hands coming up to cling to his arm. theres a moment of silence between them before she pipes up quietly. ❝ thank you ... santi. for this , for everything. normally this isn't something i would do or celebrate -- but you made it worth something. happy , something good. if you want to stay ... i would like that. ❞ everything came rushing up at once and a singular tear rolls down her cheek. this was the happiest she'd been in a long time. things were getting better and she wouldn't trade it for anything else.

Today is the 26th of July, 2024, exactly 71 years since the failed assault on the Moncada barracks in Santiago de Cuba. This failure would later be commemorated by Fidel Castro and his vanguard revolutionary movement as their very name, the name with which they won independence for Cuba from its dictator, Fulgencio Batista, and it's imperial overlord, the United States.
Cuba is still not free, however; crippling US sanctions have hindered its development, stressed their society, and needlessly taken lives. This embargo, now in its 65th year, must end. If you live in the United States, you bear a special responsibility to use every means of pressure, collectively, to pressure your government and your ruling class to end this embargo and finally free Cuba.

What are your favourite Catalan books/literature?
Some of my favourite pieces of literature are theatre: El bon policia by Santiago Rusiñol and La cançó de les balances (by Josep Maria Carandell). I really like Rusiñol in general, I think he had a great sense of humour.
For novels, I know I'm very basic but Canto jo i la muntanya balla by Irene Solà (this one has been translated to English with the title When I Sing, Mountains Dance), La plaça del Diamant by Mercè Rodoreda (English translations have been published with the titles The Time of the Doves and In Diamond Square), and I also really enjoyed Victus (by Albert Sánchez Piñol, translated to English as Victus. The Fall of Barcelona, which is the only book that Sánchez Piñol wrote originally in Spanish instead of Catalan, but I'll include it because of the content/setting).
One of my absolute favourites is Trajecte Final by Manuel de Pedrolo which is sci-fi short stories. Other short story books I really liked are El cafè de la Granota by Jesús Moncada, everything by Pere Calders, and Homenatge als caiguts by Albert Sánchez Piñol.
And for poetry, Salvador Espriu without a doubt. I've also been reading some by Josep Piera that I'm enjoying a lot.
(I have not yet read anything by Jaume Cabré nor Joan Sales 🙈 I think it should be a priority to read Jaume Cabré at this point, there's a reason why everyone considers him one of our best writers of all times)
