LIGHT OF THE JEDI REVIEW
I just finished The Light of the Jedi by Charles Soule. It had me itching to get to the next page and oh boy do I have thoughts!
The Light of the Jedi is the first publication within the High Republic Era in Star Wars, this story being set 200 years before the events of Phantom Menace. A catastrophic hyperspace disaster sends debris hurtling toward planets in the Outer Rim at terrifying speeds. The Jedi and the Republic respond to the disaster and begin to uncover its cause and those that could be behind it, introducing us to my new favorite Star Wars villains, the Nihil.
The chapters move at a breakneck pace, propelling you forward like a car with the pedal to the floor. You have this ticking clock in the background as the characters try to stop any more disasters from happening. The Jedi are complex and we see how each of them interprets the Force and how that affects their choices. We also see the victories, failures, and humanity of the everyday person. From third-class scantech Mervan Getter to technician Keven Tarr, we see how ordinary individuals contribute in extraordinary ways.
Where everyone works together and their choices ripple down the line to help others, the same cannot be said about the Nihil. Their introduction reveals them as backstabbing raiders with a shaky hierarchy enforced by intimidation and brutality. Marchion Ro is a sadistic villain, and his actions—especially the shocking revelations at the book’s end—left me in pure awe.
The book isn’t without its faults, in my opinion. Moments interrupted the story’s pace, dragging on longer than I preferred. The frequent ship descriptions didn’t appeal to me, but that’s more of a personal quirk than a flaw in the book. But most of my issues with this book are minuscule and didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment.
I highly recommend it and personally rate it an 8.5/10. If you read The Light of the Jedi, did you like it? Or did you not? I'd love to know!

3D Scan to Reproduce Accurate Dimensions of Any Part
With varying 3D scanning systems like KSCAN magic and TrackScan, large parts like wings can be captured to generate accurate models or analysis on location without removing them from the aircraft. This could be for damage analysis, historical restoration, or the movie industry.
Reproduce Any Current Component
Due to the changing technology, more aviation companies are designing new parts based on the original designs instead of starting over again. With some aging aircraft and helicopters, 3D scanning services allow us to take existing components from working aircraft, model them, and use that data to make parts for MRO. Generating CAD of the area of concern allows engineers to create new models that fit within the envelope without interference. This keeps aging fleets in the air with updated features. In this case, a helicopter was scanned since there was an engine replacement program and new cowls were to be designed.
Aircraft Wing Inspection
When the aircraft is in flight, the wings deform under the load. The in-flight deflection of wings dramatically impacts the aerodynamic performance of the airplane, which is difficult to inspect and qualify using conventional methods.
Generally, any airplane must be inspected based on duration in the field or flight hours.
Our Scantech scanners perfectly inspect the deformation of aircraft wings. The technicians acquire the wing’s position and space using the MSCAN photogrammetry system and capture the defined point cloud3D data with the KSCAN-Magic handheld scanner or the TrackScan system.
When the Scan data is collected, the technicians generate a report comparing the scan data to the CAD model and generate a colour deviation map showing the damage or deformation.
The defect or dent, like width, length, and depth, are defined using colour map comparison. The report shows how the two differ in detail, allowing every detail to be seen.
