So, the eternal question: who got screwed over by the showrunners worse, Shinn or Cagalli?
Spoilers below obviously.
I think the answer is both for different reasons. I was advised that Cagali's role was deliberately sabotaged, but I doubt Shinn was purposely screwed over in the same way...It's REALLY hard to say because one could say Cagali because they made her make stupid decisions and the characters were horribly mean to her for no real reason and were unreasonable to her too. On the other hand, Shinn was allowed to go down a shitty path because Athrun decided not to actually try to talk to Shinn any further than 'You're being used!' Doesn't explain anything else. So it's like...
Cagali was definitely fucked outside of the show.
Shinn was fucked within the show by people deciding to be selfish and stupid.
And it hurts because for most of the show, Athrun had the braincell between most of the folks, and then just to make Shinn an enemy, he just, dwells on the Archangel and Kira for WAY too long.
And it HURTS even more considering how good and solid the show was for the longest time before Kira got involved. I don't even know why they had Talia and Rey stay at the end there. It's like they weren't content with screwing over Shinn, they also had to make sure our Captain and Bestest Buddy? not survive the show? It's a kick to the balls!
It feels like the show after a time was hellbent on making the original cast the protags again and getting rid of everyone else either physically or psychologically in order to facilitate it.
I can't say I didn't enjoy Seed Destiny by the end of it, because I was hype. I was enjoying the fuck out of it, but that just makes it all hurt even more by the end.
#Seed Destiny Sadness#Shinn deserved better#Rey deserved better#Lunamaria deserved better#Talia deserved better#Meer deserved better#Stella deserved better#Auel deserved better#Sting deserved better

[ Moonlight on the River ]
Sypnosis: The final battle came way earlier than you expected, and amidst all the chaos, your lover got wrapped up in its twisted fate. How were you supposed to react when you couldn't do anything to save the boy you had loved since childhood?
A/N: manga spoilers, implied death, hurt no comfort, angst. 1.7k words. listen to moonlight on the river by mac demarco or space song by beach house.
[ ao3 link ]
”Gojo, please you need to listen to me. Please, you don’t get it.” You violently sobbed, gripping your mentor’s wrist, pleading with him to listen. His eyes swept over you making sure you weren’t hurt.
Blood began to drip from the gash on your neck as you paused to take a couple shaky breaths trying to calm your nerves. “Please, you can’t kill him. I need him. He’s still Megumi.”
“You can’t do this to me…please Gojo.”
“I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT HIM PLEASE!” He stayed silent. You waited for him to say something, anything.
You stared back at him, clenching your fist as your eyes darkened, “I don’t care what happens to me, I need him back no matter what.”
You glanced at the figure looking past Gojo, it was wearing Megumi's face and body but the rest belonged to the evil man, the curse, who destroyed the place you used to call home. The same man who stole your friend's humanity away. Even more tears began to fall down your face as you turned to Gojo with a defeated expression, sadly still containing a miniscule glimmer of hope. A tiny part of you hoped that your lover could return safely. A tiny part of you naively believed.
“Is she alright?” Gojo asked Yuuji, who wasn’t standing too far away, still avoiding your piercing gaze. “Except for the gash on her neck, there’s only a few bruises on her so she should be okay…for now.”
As Gojo started to free himself from your grip, he threw Yuuji a knowing look. And suddenly, you were trapped in Gojo's arms. “No, no, no. GOJO! PLEASE NO!” You struggled in his hold, but he only tightened it in response
"Everything will be okay.” Your mouth fell open as your eyes widened. You could feel your chest tighten as the panic rose within you as Gojo’s hold on you tightened. “Just leave it to me.”
You begged him to change his mind, desperate to get away, but his expression was unwavering.
“LET GO OF ME! PLEASE!”
“YOU CAN’T DO THIS!” You pleaded, tears streaming down your face, hoping that your desperation would somehow break through to him.
As Gojo walked towards Yuuji he handed you over to him. The boy with pink hair had a strong hold on you while wearing a solemn expression.
“NO! PLEASE GOJO ITS MEGUMI!“ You started screaming out to your teacher once more, your voice breaking. Despite your agony, Yuuji knew this was for the best. It was the right decision for you to suffer.
"PLEASE, I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT HIM!” Your words were ignored as the King of Curses fought with your teacher, while using the body of your lover as a puppet. You could feel the desperation rising inside of you as the fight progressed. You felt utterly helpless when you realized that your pleas had been ignored.
“Yuuji. Let me go, I need to stop him.” You seem to be in dire need of anything to occur. Something that is going to alter Megumi's destiny. since you were aware that one of them would die if they got into a duel. There was a sense of impending disaster hanging in the air, pressing you to do something.
“I can’t. I’m sorry.”
You attempted to escape his hold, thrashing in his arms but it was in vain as his grip on you only tightened. Yuuji led you to the sidelines where the rest of your comrades were watching the battle take place. You cried out in pain, anger, and most of all sadness.
The raven haired boy you grew up with was going to be killed.
You never got to say goodbye.
There were so many unspoken words between the two of you.
You needed more time.
You needed a chance to unravel the tangled emotions and express what you truly felt.
The weight of those desires lingered, leaving a deeply rooted seed of regret. But alas, moments slipped through your fingers like sand, and now all that remains in the haunting presence of what could've been.
You needed to hug him one last time.
You needed to kiss him one last time.
As if pleading with the universe
You needed to see him smile again
You needed to hear him laugh again.
You needed to touch him again.
Would the universe make you forget his face after all this was over? Would the universe grant you the mental peace of fading memories and erase the pain which would linger in your heart? Or would it be a cruel and unforgiving reminder, tattooing his face deeper into your mind, tormenting you with what might've been?
Unfair. Unfair. Unfair
Why did it have to be him?
Why did fate choose to intertwine your paths, only to keep you both apart? So many questions and no answers, only leaving you to wonder about what a cruel twist of destiny the world had granted you. In the midst of the chaos all around you, thoughts of you and him kept flooding into your mind.
“The stars... they look really nice tonight–” You spun around to face Megumi. “Don’t you think?”
“Yeah.” He but he was too busy focusing on you, instead of those stupid stars. To him you were much prettier.
He acknowledged the beauty of the stars. But compared to you, they were a dull contrast. You shined brighter than any star imaginable.
He cast a long glance at your lips before the two of you locked eyes. Before you could respond, he captured your lips in a passionate kiss. He cupped your face with one hand and wrapped the other around yours. You couldn’t help but smile as you melted into his touch.
Another memory rang through your mind.
Fushiguro sat with his back against the wall, statue-still and cold. You reached out to hold his hand but he quickly withdrew.
You tried again but he said. “Don’t.”
His voice was laced with contempt. After today's mission, you were injured severely. And even though all of you came back alive, he couldn't spare himself from the guilt of not being by your side.
“Don’t what?” you asked, flatly.
His jaw locked, and he stared at you with empty eyes.
“What’s wrong?”
He glances at your bruised arms and fist. “I don’t–” He started and then he looked at the bandage that wrapped around your head and the limp you seemed to have on your right leg. “I don’t know what to–”
So that's what it was about. Your injuries…He wasn't mad at you.
He was mad at himself.
You place your hands on either side of his face with a firm hold. “Stop it.”
His eyes still avoid my gaze like the plague. “It’s not your fault. Everyone got a bit roughed up–”
He cut you off. “You were injured the most out of everyone else. And we were just facing a grade 1 curse, imagine if it was a special grade.”
You paused and pondered, what would've happened if the curse was special grade? Well, it didn’t matter now. The important thing is that you were alive and breathing. “There’s no point in thinking about that now. Stop torturing yourself.”
Megumi’s expression didn’t waver.
“I wasn’t there.”
“You were there when I needed you to be.” You said, hands sliding off his face to hold his hands. “I can take care of myself.”
“I swore I would be there for you and I wasn't. I swore to keep you safe and you weren't.” His words pierced your heart like a dagger. You wanted to reassure him that you were okay. That a few injuries meant nothing to you. And that it shouldn't be to him.
“I’m–”
“You were terrified.” His voice was filled with turmoil as he interrupted you. “When you called out to me, I’ll never forget your voice.”
Before he could keep going, you gently placed a finger on his lips, silencing him. "I understand why you’re upset," you whispered softly, "But please trust me when I say that I am stronger than you think. Plus after a few days I’ll be as good as new!” You smiled, and you leaned in to kiss him.
As your lips met, you could feel the mixture of relief and longing in the kiss. It was a bittersweet moment for Fushiguro, as he realized that while he was relieved to have finally expressed his concerns, there was still a lingering sadness knowing that he could have done something to change the outcome.
That was the first time you had seen him so worried about something or someone. “I love you.”
Punches were thrown at the concrete, causing the ground to tremble, and you were pulled back into reality. Yuuji was still holding you in his lap and Yuuta was healing you in the meantime applying his reversed cursed technique.
You grabbed him unexpectedly, mumbling softly, “Yuuta... I need him back...” He smiled sadly at you.
“I need to tell him that I love him one last time...” Your voice breaks at the idea and your eyes well up with tears. Yuuta’s hand cups your cheek, thumb caressing it gently.
“He knows.” Okkotsu reassures you, healing all your wounds successfully,“I promise.”
With a trembling voice, you whisper, "I don't know how I'll go on without him." The weight of your emotions hangs heavy in the air, as if silently begging for a miracle to bring him back.
Your face loses all emotion as you wrap your arms around Yuuji’s neck. To help you feel a little better, he holds you close and gently rocks you back and forth. You experience defeat. You can’t help but let your sorrow and regret consume you. As you bury your face in Yuuji's shoulder, you feel a mix of comfort and despair. The weight of your emotions becomes unbearable, leaving you feeling completely helpless. It's as if the world around you has come crashing down, and all you can do is surrender to the overwhelming grief. Your will to live escaping your bloody grasp.
"I’m home, there's moonlight on the river. Everybody dies."

Hey! Could you write something about Blade having a keeper of time/ timekeeper s/o? ♥
first ask!!! let's hecking goooooooo
i wanted to write headcanons but then one thing led to another and it's a short story that i hope you enjoy
Blade x gn!Timekeeper!S/O — Seen in the shards
warnings: mentions of blade's depression and suicidal thoughts (canon-compliant), possibly ooc but i really really hope i wrote him well
Blade is destruction incarnate, the mara and rage and grief taking over him sporadically, like bile rising to the throat. He is an effective tool of the Hunters (ironic, isn't it? an abomination like him hardly can Hunt), and many would think that this is all he is, a bounty and a sin and a loosely held leash.
You know him differently, though. You know him in the moments of repose in-between the storm that he brings along, and in those moments, he feels like a large shard of time away from where he'd fit. It's always shards with him, glimpses of past mistakes, and battles, and memories, but mostly sorrow. You think of the ways time cracks as you struggle to keep it whole, revealing the uncomfortable truths you dare not mention to the IPC or the Intelligentsia Guild. It's kind of similar, like if you try just enough, you'll see the complete picture once again.
And he doesn't get you at first, because collecting broken shards and piecing them back is not what Blade does. Blade is all about burning bridges, throwing himself into battle headfirst, Blade does - not - get it when you show concern or worry, when you offer to share a meal, when you tend to a wound of his, when you try and protect him in battle, because he isn't supposed to be together, only apart, shatter and shatter and shatter in hopes that one day, he'll just lie there broken and dead and gone.
You care and that hurts, for some reason, hurts in a way that doesn't sate his urge to be hurt.
✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧
"I almost pity you, Bladie. But envy you all the same," Kafka drops one day as they're sat in a boujee cafe on a planet that will experience a Stellaron catastrophe in about three system hours. She raises her cup of tea to her lips almost immediately, but he catches a hint of a smile.
"Pity, I understand, but I do not welcome it. However, what of the envy?"
Kafka set down her cup gently, in a manner that she would always do, and her smile faded.
"Soon, you would know the meaning of fear. You knew it once, but in a different lifetime. Now, you will know it again, and it will hurt in different ways. It's fascinating."
She spoke with a certainty, as if reciting a script. Possibly that was the case, and that was more sad than anything. Given a power to make anyone listen, but stuck saying words someone else wrote.
"So it will happen?"
"As much as anything said by Destiny's Slave will. There's a seed for fear in that, too. You will resent your wish and your fate, but it still will happen, even if you don't want it to happen anymore."
Right. Blade looks away, because he doesn't usually decipher the grand scheme of things. He was promised a death and a settling of the score, and he is content with that, content in the way a sword is content to rest in its sheath. Kafka reaches across the table to touch his forehead as if to impart a wisdom.
She'd point a gun to his head and he'd be just as apathetic.
"Listen. I am telling you this for your sake, after all."
There's no command behind the word, and Blade regrets this, because thinking he dislikes most of all.
✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧
Fear is a foreign concept, but the more you reach out to him with your care, the more he starts to grasp it. He knows of your strength, he knows of your capabilities, he sees you constantly fixing time itself, reaching into the molten metal with hands exposed and heart bare, to stitch all together before the past pours into the present and the future into the past and a sea of fake stars replaces the cosmos you traverse (you told him once of a world inside an egg one time, where the sky is fake and the up is down and why does he remember these trivial things again).
But he also knows of his own strength, and how all that he touches goes awry, and that is scary — to see you reach out when he knows full well how your care might destroy you, how he might destroy you.
"You shouldn't be picking up the shards. They'd cut you," he says one time after another crack is restored and the anomaly of the Fragmentum shifts into a stable state. His sword drags on the ground, leaving a distinctly red trace. You know he isn't speaking about the timeline.
"Those are big words coming from someone carrying a sword made of shards," you smile like you always do and it hurts. Because it hurts to be cared for and treated like a person and where were you those centuries ago when dying still felt memorable and there was something besides the anger?
He wishes he fell into a timeline anomaly back then because that would mean even for a moment, being caught by you, and that is a scary thought.
"Blade?" he's zoning out. Bad. He is supposed to keep himself in check, because most people are capable of dying and he is a remarkably well-working death machine.
"I will say this more clearly: if you keep reaching out to me, you will die."
✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧
You don't stop because... actually why. Blade still doesn't get it. Blade doesn't speak up anymore, a sword in its sheath, but he thinks sometimes. Thinking is still a horrible pastime activity. But he does wonder about what it would have felt like to have met you earlier, when there was some feeling left in him.
He wonders if you bandaging a wound of his would make him feel safe. He wonders if the snacks you buy on the planets you visit would make him feel sated. He wonders if after a long day, sleeping next to each other would make him feel truly content.
Dangerous thoughts, yet strangely warm, like candlelight.
You plop on the bed of a dingy hotel room you two are staying at. Blade cares little about the quality of the establishment, but he does care about security, and keeping on the down low is of the essence. He stores his sword next to his side of the bed, to draw if a fight occurs.
He doesn't sleep anyway, simply lies in a dreamless haze, so nothing would catch him off-guard.
"Room's tiny. Bed's hard as a rock, too," you make small talk, untying the laces of your boots.
"Mhm," Blade hums. He thinks that there were free rooms in the hotel. With two beds in each, no less. He doesn't bring this up because it's safer to stay close together and that's the only reason.
"And it's cold."
"Mhm," he hums again. He doesn't feel much in terms of warmth or coldness.
You lie back on the bed, staring at the ceiling as he checks for emergency exit pathways and makes notes of useful items.
"Sometimes I wish there were no anomalies or Stellarons out there. Then we wouldn't have large bounties on our heads and we'd be able to afford all the good hotels."
"We wouldn't have met then. And this room is sufficient."
Blade says sufficient, but for the last while, he found sufficient lacking. He wanted good things, despite being undeserving, and it hurt, too, because he knew all too well what happened to the good things in his life.
He lies down next to you, six inches, seven hundred years and a universe apart.
"Would we? I'd still have found you, I feel like."
It feels weird to hear this. He remembers how you once got hurt because you tried to block a hit meant for him. It was a long time ago, before that could hurt. It wasn't anything serious, but now, guilt eats at him each time he notices the faint scar on your shoulder. He drifts his gaze left, and there it is, a reminder.
And he also sees that you're cold.
What comes next is a whim and Blade never acts on whims. But he turns on the bed and drags you into an embrace.
"You wouldn't have liked what you've found."
Because then he'd be a mara-struck abomination, immortal mess of ginkgo leaves and dripping bile and the same names roared so much that no one would hear what he says. He still is like that, just somewhat grounded.
"You always decide for me. But isn't it up to me to weigh my choices, Blade?"
No, he wants to say, it's not. He's been mortal and stupid before, and that was his mistake. For that, he must pay a price. He doesn't want you to be hurt that way because you, unlike him, don't deserve this.
But he says none of it, as you raise your hand and touch his cheek and it's warm and it hurts—
His voice breaks, in both anger and fear, "I don't want you fixing me. I know you want to pick up the shards and glue them together. But you will regret that wish."
He isn't Yingxing and he won't be Yingxing ever again. What was him died on the Xianzhou Luofu, and it died again and again and again until what was left couldn't recall the deaths any longer. Then, a mess of shards, an empty husk, he was Blade, and he couldn't ever go back.
You smile gently at him.
"I know. If you ever decide to piece the shards together, it should be your choice and not mine, and I have no deal interfering with that. But still, I want to see all of you, Blade. Broken or not."
It's scary because admitting that he wants you to see him too would mean accepting that it won't change a thing. The script is merciless and uncaring. Even if he allows himself to love you, he is already destined to die as part of the performance. It's scary because it changes everything. It's scary because it changes nothing.
He shifts on the bed, so that you're face to face.
"May I kiss you?"
You close the distance first, as you always do, and he, for the first time in seven hundred years, feels seen.

[Originally Written 9/25/2023]
[Present Day Note: Why the FUCK didn't I post this? Not only was it mostly done BUT I WAS RIGHT IN THE FIRST HALF?]
Not to be a Narinder apologist, but for all his supervillain-esque "I'm gonna rule the world" and claims of having a "cold, unbeating heart", I think he really was the one that was betrayed lmao. The true victim after all. Just on a destructive rampage.
He's just. Too upset about it for this to be a manipulative front. I am 99% sure this isn't supposed to be a glow effect. Unless he's got spring allergies, this man has been ugly-crying for a millennia.
He's so sad that the tears manifest in his transformation. That's some deeply-rooted sadness!
So when Shamura asks Lamb about betrayal and then summons a follower to fight them, what that's supposed to mean is that Shamura attacked Narinder. And the greater implication would be that they did it because they were dissenting.
"Dissenting" is presented as someone believing they've seen through some kind of illusion and are now enlightened with the truth. But the thing is, they're wrong. What Dissenters believe is that their doubts were right and their fears have become reality.
Which, ya know, they are the ones with hearts *squints* cast in vile, impermeable, unrelenting terror.
"And in my imprudence I loved him."
It could very well be that "in my imprudence" is Shamura's flowery way of saying "while I was dissenting". Meaning they feel that their love for Narinder is not only foolish, but born from their heretecism. In their mind, the two options can't coexist. They can love Narinder, or they can serve the Old Faith. And their attempt to combine those two things (have their cake and eat it too) ended in disaster.
And it's fascinating that, because Shamura's skull was damaged, they seem to be fading between their Dissenting and Not-Dissenting states of mind. Dissenter Shamura, who sent Narinder kits in the void so he wouldn't be lonely. Who feels guilty for what they've done. Faithful Shamura, who locked Narinder up in the first place. Who participated in killing all lambs so he wouldn't ever be freed.
The God of Knowledge vs the God of War. Cultist Shamura vs Heretic Shamura. Blessed Shamura vs Damned Shamura.
Bearers of the Red Crown have been troublemakers for multiple millennia, so that means there's already a seed planted that one day Narinder may succumb to the crown and betray them all. So if he starts asking questions that make others uncomfortable or even doubt their faith, it would not be difficult for someone to poison the well.
Then there's the second time Shamura summons your followers. It could be foreshadowing for Aym and Baal, but that would mean that Shamura expects Lamb to try to usurp the crown. Which is entirely possible, but would be an odd decision for someone who has seemingly accepted their fate and subsequent punishment. And in a world where sheep/lambs are expected to amount to nothing more than sacrifices. I have two ideas:
A) This is a parallel to how Shamura and Narinder's relationship formed. A "bond forged by the spilling of blood" is what Shamura says. The two of them fought against their 'leader', potentially a Red Crown user, in a bid to change one or both of their destinies. One of them (most likely Shamura based on that moon on their crown) was slated to be sacrificed.
B) This a parallel to how Shamura and Heket ganked Narinder and sent him to the realm beyond. As at this point, they would both be dissenting against the Red Crown. But instead of abandoning it, they sought to banish it.
#cult of the lamb#cotl theory#cotl shamura#cotl narinder#i guess technically it is a#incomplete theories

do you have a quick link to information about Brokenstar, Runningnose, and Skypelt? I'm curious about the story behind Runny's acorn necklace and I want to read about Brokenstar becoming SkyClan's guardian, and how he was able to follow Firestar/help him restore SkyClan. i've been having a hard time finding it
I need to finish (or at least *reasonably complete*) the SE where Fire and Broken go to resurrect SkyClan. That is called Firestar's Quietus. Brokenstar's origin, which completely replaces Yellowfang's Secret, is called Brokenstar's Cataclysm and that's another one I need to complete.
The exact story has undergone a lot of revision SO I'm gonna take a quick break to try and compile some Best Hits of BB!Runningnose's and BB!Brokenstar's dynamic to get you up to speed, and make a definitive list of what's currently canon to Better Bones
And, because this is DEFINITELY the change that raises the most eyebrows and it's a good opportunity to make an intro,
"Elder Bones, what's all this I hear about your Not-Totally-Evil Brokenstar?"
He's still evil lmao, but he's not BORN evil in BB. NO ONE is.
BB is a story about culture. It's about a lot of things, family, anti-authoritarianism, xenophobia... but at its core, Better Bones is about how people impact culture, and how it acts on people.
Something I realized early in this process is that Canon Brokenstar, who is a born-evil punishment for SkyClan's exile (this is CANON, go re-read Yellowfang's Secret if you don't remember!), only made worse by abuse and enabling, does not effectively tell a story about culture.
Depending on your reading, Canon!Brokenstar is either a cosmic horror story or one about abuse. Could Yellowfang have saved him (and ShadowClan) with love? The book implies no, it was his destiny, just the medcat den was hers.
But looking at Canon!Lizardfang who let him get bullied*, and Canon!Raggedpelt who enabled him every step of the way as Sagewhisker held Yellowfang back, you could also read it as someone who was treated so horribly that he did horrible things to others. That he wanted respect and this is how he got it
So, okay, you could read that it's the fault of this bad woman, bullying, and this overly permissive dad that he became a baby killer. Problem solved?
HOWEVER... the Erins also refuse to actually write about people who unironically love his philosophy, because they don't want Brokenstar to be systemic. Blackfoot, the posterboy for a Broken-supporter, gets to reckon with how sad his childhood was and how he was only ever a mislead kitty who Truly Loved His Clan, as opposed to Brokenstar, who was Born Evil And Did Not Truly Love His Clan.
Blackstar's greatest flaw wasn't xenophobia, or hatred. He wasn't groomed by a society that glorifies violence and pushes a might-makes-right mentality. He just followed The Bad Person. With the death of The Bad People, society is fine :)
This is a recurring dichotomy. Leopardstar was good all along, Tigerstar was bad all along, Needletail was good all along, Darktail was bad all along. The Erins are not telling a story about how Clan Culture produces villains, or how it makes good people do terrible things, they tell stories about treacherous Evil People who always had a seed of badness inside of them.
-Onestar's Confession, Page 704
This is their guiding philosophy, and it's what Better Bones sets out to reject.
So, Brokenstar.
I realized while drawing him this one time that I was making him look too much like Tigerstar. Charismatic and puffed up, ready to twist the code to fit his own ends. Then it hit me-- why am I telling the same story twice?
BB!Tigerstar is the inheritor of Thistle Law, apprentice of Thistleclaw, with a backstory where he was a lonely, abused child and seeks respect to fill that hole. He's getting all sorts of reduxes to explore him, and the way that violent ideologies recruit (and prey on) angry and lonely people. Why should I just... have two Tigerstars, but one of them is explored less?
AND, I would waste the fascinating idea that Brokenstar is a manifested curse. Why remove something so cool, when instead, I could lean into that...? Then I started to realize...
Why didn't they ever connect Brokenstar to the resurrection of SkyClan, if he is this manifested curse?
So, enough preamble. Come below the cut and I'll tell you about the story in Better Bones so far...
BB!Brokenstar is not born evil. He is born angry.
He was ALWAYS going to happen. His birth, his ambition, and his fury were inevitable.
This is a curse that was laid generations ago, at the end of Ripplestar's Rot.
The last-ditch attempt to save SkyClan was literally crushed by StarClan itself, blasting the base of the blighted 5th Tree of Fivetrees and sending it toppling down to smite Ripplestar.
That tree was the symbol of SkyClan and their place in the forest. All the love, comfort, and memories that they had ever put into that oak had a power of their own-- and they took form on that night.
Brokenstar is not the only "entity" of this type. Star Flower, eons ago, was another. BB contains many new types of entities beyond, and even adjacent to StarClan. Gods, curses, guardians, other religions of equal standing...
But he needed to be born to someone. In return for Dawnstar's kindness, taking in Cloudstar's young children (Re: Ripplestar's Rot), ShadowClan would be the eye of the storm.
And it would be a Cleric who bore him, just like Larkstripe, who had been cruelly separated from her only kitten.
Yellowfang, Shroompelt at the time, this was before her Dishonor Title, saw when he was born that he was furious. She'd never seen a newborn look so angry.
In Brokenstar's Cataclysm, she only gets the opening chapter. It's enough to establish how Sagewhisker pressured her into the role, the lengths she went to in order to keep this secret, the reason for his name despite it not matching his tail.
NOTE: Brokentail's name, Kanochswash, means Broken-in-half-tail. He has two breaks in his tail, making three segments. It matches the way the oak was broken, once at the base, again against the rock, but it is actually obvious in Clanmew that his name does not refer to his tail.
Or, it's obvious to Lizardstripe at least... who is VERY different in BB. Old followers will know, she is a very loyal friend of Bluestar herself, and a member of her inter-Clan friendgroup, the Forget-Me-Nots.
She really doesn't want to be in this situation, doesn't LIKE being a mother, and Mudfoot is unhelpful... but she's the most perceptive of the Forget-Me-Nots. She hears that name, sees Shroompelt's distant eyes, and it clicks. She sometimes looks for things to complain about so Shroompelt has an excuse to stay in the den for a while.
But Lizardstripe is not raising Brokenkit. Raggedstar is. Raggedstar is Brokenkit's Mi, and Raggedstar alone. He's pointedly adamant about that, and as soon as Brokenkit doesn't need round-the-clock suckling, he started sleeping in the Leader's Den with dad.
Unfortunately, being the golden child of the leader did not pair nicely with Brokenkit's short fuse.
And he made a little friend.
What first drew Runningkit to Brokenkit was that he was very large. Runningkit LOVED pissing off one of his siblings, and then hiding behind his bestie who was younger than them but already as big as a stump.
When Lizardstripe tried to do anything about this, Raggedstar would get pissed off at her, insisting that his son needed to be with his friends.
Together, the two of them learned they could do whatever they wanted, as long as they stuck together. With Runny's brain and Broken's brawn, they weren't even a year old and already unstoppable.
And their idea of "unstoppable" was... mostly getting seconds when they'd already eaten and pushing against the horrors of bedtime. Sneaking out and collecting acorns. Being allowed to practice with the warriors.
Even better, since being the leader's kitten meant everyone tended to be extra nice to Broken to butter up to Ragged.
If they got what they wanted, they were sweet to adults. But from watching her son, and from being friends with Lizardstripe, Shroompelt knew that they could be vicious when they wanted to be.
And from a young age, Brokenkit knew that he needed to become Brokenstar... and Runningkit promised he'd get him there.
You might be noticing something.
Brokenstar was always loved, very, very much.
Spoiled? Absolutely. A little bully? You bet.
Not yet more than the sort of things angry, spoiled kids get up to.
The point I'm meticulously building here is that BB!Brokenstar WAS LOVED, and he loved in turn.
It won't stop what is about to happen.
Brokenkit was only a few months old when his father became leader, after Cedarstar was killed in the war with WindClan. Heatherstar wanted the Mothermouth Moorland; a floodplain just beyond the Carrionplace, which grows flax and many other medicinal flowers.
It was something the two clans had fought over before, that IS the code's Right of Challenge, but Heatherstar wanted all of it. She'd even killed the practice of tunneling to dedicate all of her forces to take it.
If you are not strong enough to keep something, you do not deserve to have it. This is what the Code says.
And strength is what Brokenkit quickly learned.
Taking extra bowls of food means nothing in the fall when the prey grows fat, but ShadowClan's marsh freezes fast.
You can't whine up a second bowl when not everyone even got a first.
Do you defend your territory? Or focus on survival? When the challenges are frequent, you have to go without eating to defend them.
And yes, you're hungry, but it's for a reason.
Brokenkit wasn't out of kithood when he saw his first death, because people were already dying before he was born.
In skirmishes, in hunting accidents, to infection because they didn't have enough herbs. Starvation in winter.
From a very young age, he was taught this is the way of Clans, and this is because of WindClan.
And his ambition to become deputy only became stronger. Runningpaw hatched a plan to get into the Cleric den, against Shroompelt's will.
Brokenpaw got into fights at Gatherings over ShadowClan's honor, enthusiastically bowled into battle against WindClan raids, became Raggedstar's best little rat hunter.
And he saw clanmates he loved dying.
Over many years, through his warriorhood, into his deputyship.
Cloudpelt, Foxheart, Toadskip, Nutwhisker. Lizardstripe was killed during an event called Heatherstar's Last Stand, her neck snapped by the WindClan warrior Flytail.
Heatherstar died, and her much more reasonable and peaceful deputy, Tallstar... continued to keep the Moorland she won.
ShadowClan went through that last winter, again trying to win their land back, but beaten so hard they couldn't mount a resistance. More cats collapsed in the snow, Mudfoot was one of them.
WindClan won. The land was theirs now. Out of his magnanimity, Tallstar reached out to Raggedstar and made him an unprecedented offer. He would give him a tax of rabbits, for peace. ShadowClan would stop attacking, and formally acknowledge that WindClan was the victor of the war.
A peace deal, a surrender.
Tallstar didn't have to do that. If his Clan won, it was his land in the eyes of StarClan. He had no obligation to reach out in this way, and Raggedstar acknowledged that.
But it made Brokentail SICK.
He couldn't believe that Raggedstar was going to buy this, let WindClan keep THEIR LAND and just send them back some of their own rabbits. What happens next?? What if WindClan decides to come further south, what then? What will Tallstar ask for next? What price will his warriors pay for the blood they spilled?
And this is the moment that Brokentail kills his father. On his last life, frail and weak after an entire life of fighting, he decided that the last kindness he could give him was a quick death, preventing him from taking that deal.
Runningnose sprang into action as soon as he'd been told about it; helping him to cover up the murder.
And together, they turned to TOTAL war.
Once, as an apprentice, Brokenstar recalled the words of a warrior at a Gathering. A parable of thistles-- how they don't care what attacks them. They don't hold back. How they will choke out the whole field who they can thrive.
Is that not the conclusion of Might Makes Right? If you can, you must, before they do it to you.
An apprentice becomes a warrior-- stop that from happening.
Don't let your enemies escape to fight again-- kill them when you have the chance.
Their herb stores are just as limited as yours-- dwindle them with infection and poison.
WindClan Must Pay, every single one of them. All the Clans are tomorrow's rivals, they have to go too.
Everything is for ShadowClan, and he was LOVED for it.
well.... by many.
This is about Brokenstar and Runningnose, but I must mention that there's also a lot of people who oppose him. Who realize this as evil. Nightpelt, Cinderfur, Deerfoot, Dawncloud and Stumptail are some of them.
And, importantly, Shroompelt was one of them. Whenever she learned of some code-breaking thing they'd done, she would make waves about it.
The word of a Cleric has an immense amount of weight, and it prevented Brokenstar from ending this war once and for all.
So Runningnose, as always, constructed a plan. Brokenstar decided it was a sacrifice that must be made.
Marigoldkit and Mintkit (kits of Rowanberry and Clawface) were in the Cleric's den for an infection.
Marigoldkit was a blind girl, and very fussy about taking her medicine.
Shroompelt would serve it to her in a berry capsule, either knout or rasp, a naturally red berry one.
Runningnose simply swapped her medicine with yew, and made sure that Mintkit was able to witness his sister being fed red berries over many days.
When Marigoldkit died, Mintkit was a distraught child who could only communicate that Shroompelt fed her "Red Berries," like the ones he'd been taught to stay away from.
Shroompelt IMMEDIATELY turned on Runningnose, accusing him of killing a blind kitten.
And he turned it on her. She'd fallen right into his trap. "You did this! You've been wanting us to stop fighting WindClan, and now you've stooped so low that you're trying to get rid of StarClan's only other messenger! You've killed your own nespring!"
Many cats of ShadowClan had completely lost patience with her before this, and were now shocked to see that she'd do such a thing. While some suspected the truth, in the end, Brokenstar's word is law.
And his law was that he would show mercy on an ex-Clanmate. But from here on, her name was Yellowfang, so that the world may be forewarned that StarClan rotted her teeth from so many lies as she walked in exile.
Brokenstar's Cataclysm ends on the WindClan Massacre. A bloody event where well over a dozen cats are slaughtered, and Brokenstar resurrects an ancient practice at the bellowing request of his warriors-- Kitten Stealing.
(The only time BB!Brokenstar uses a child soldier is during this battle, apprenticing Badgerpaw early so that he can participate in the all-out assault.)
With WindClan gone, he turned his sight on the other two. The Clans were cursed to die as they lived-- overpowered by a stronger, more bloodthirsty tyrant, violently driven out just as SkyClan had once been.
From there, the rest is very close to canon. Brokenstar is deposed by a coup, one that NEVER would have succeeded if it wasn't for Bluestar and her apprentice, Firepaw. The Curse is thwarted by change. Cats of different Clans working together in the name of righteousness.
Bluestar could have gone, grabbed the kits, and come back, but she knew that WindClan would never be able to return if Brokenstar was still in power.
This time around, ShadowClan's plague was intentional. Runningnose infected Nightstar on purpose.
He wanted to eliminate a weak leader... and a treacherous rogue who had defied his own.
Collateral damage was acceptable, if it eliminated as many of Nightstar's supporters as possible.
And yet, his brother Deerfoot survived. Sentimentality? Just luck? Who knows.
If Runningnose has any regrets for anything he's done, it's only this. That he cleared out ShadowClan for Tigerstar's rule.
He approved of him at first, interpreted signs to benefit him, even killed for this old ally of Brokenstar...
but Tigerstar's goal was to abolish ShadowClan, and make a TigerClan of his own. Brokenstar never wanted this, and neither did Runningnose.
What Runny really wants, more than anything, is what Brokenstar wants. Destroying WindClan is a bonus, eliminating all of their enemies is anger that they were able to obstruct him. Runningnose thinks he loves power, but what he REALLY loves is his ability to get Brokenstar what he wants.
Everything he's ever done has been in pursuit of that goal. He doesn't care that he'll be going to the Dark Forest in the end, that's where Brokenstar is going to be. Hell is wherever he isn't.
In life, neither one of them knew anything about the curse, or destiny. Brokenstar reconnects with memories in his death.
And he started having dreams of SkyClan, which he communicated to Runningnose through channeling.
I'm working on the full outline of Firestar's Quietus right now so I'm going to be a bit more brief;
Runningnose got Firestar involved on this quest because he's a little goody two shoes. Of COURSE he would agree to help... that's who Firestar is.
He brings him to the moonstone, where a scene similar to canon plays out where StarClan tries to encourage him to go back to his Clan and ignore what he now knows.
And, of course, he tells them to shove it.
Firestar's Quietus is a book about righting wrongs. Brokenstar as a curse means that what he needs, in the end, is peace.
The peace he needs is the knowledge that SkyClan will be saved, and that it will survive.
Runningnose is willing to let him go, in order to get what he needs. He passes off an acorn necklace to Firestar, so that he can channel him with ease on his journey
In this gesture, it becomes real that he will go to an afterlife without him. After all he'd ever done and been through.
So, he hesitates before handing it off, but makes Firestar promise to take good care of it.
On this journey, Brokenstar and Firestar do a lot of bickering about how SkyClan should come back. The sort of values they should have, who should lead it...
But in the end, Brokenstar realizes, they will be something new. They'll choose their own path in life, because that's what it means to be alive.
And his final action is to face The Rats, now supernatural creatures of their own, finally dispelling the threat that faced SkyClan.
Having done his job as a Guardian, he can finally rest. His necklace is buried overlooking the Gorge, returning SkyClan's guardian to them.
Eventually he falls during AVoS, in Darktail's attack, killing several of the kin and their rebels and allowing Leafstar and co a chance to escape.
For more on Skypelt, see this little guide I made on the afterlife locations. Hopefully one day I can clean this up into its own entry.

something interesting that popped into my head re: maiden talk. objectively between winter, weiss, and jaune, winter is the one most committed to atlas the nation; her line to ironwood, "I have never wavered in fighting the enemies of this kingdom, and I won't start now" has always stood out to me and I find it... interesting. Winter has the winter maiden powers and is probably the most high-ranking Atlas official to survive the fall. Raven, in committing to her tribe, places herself squarely in Mistral. Cinder steals Amber's powers in Vale, a country historically against Atlas (notably in the Great War), therefore aligning with her own sentiments. I doubt there is actually anything to this, but it feels like more reason to believe the Summer maiden will be in and associated with Vacuo. also as I rewatch the ironwood fight, he says that he never expected Winter to betray him... I have to wonder if he groomed Winter into joining the Atlesian military, or planted the seed in her mind, thinking that if he could mold someone into the lieutenant he needed that he'd never have to worry because he would have been totally responsible for them. (as in, taught them everything and shaped their morals and scruples). we know that as head of atlas he is the headmaster of the atlas academy but what better way to make sure that your protege never gets any "ideas" by picking someone who is isolated and desperate to escape, who wants to be cared for and about by someone and especially someone like him? if they never go to the academy they won't have the distraction of "friends" and "teams" and "allegiances." this could in part explain why her sword and rapier (?) are like ironwood's bfg and due process- she modelled them after him. also of course must be mentioned that when James realized Winter had inherited the maiden powers, he says that the destiny he chose for her had arrived. he must have known that it means penny is dead, but that doesn't matter to him at all. i think that's part of why winter is so pissed when she says "you chose nothing. this was a gift." she has to grieve her friend and a man who stands before her claiming he feels betrayed doesn't even seem surprised or sad about the death.
…hm yeah. throws that on the "gillian asturias is the summer maiden" pile
the WOR episode on huntsmen implies this pretty overtly, as ozpin notes that atlas academy has been under increasing scrutiny for "indoctrinating" its students into the military and pressuring graduates to enlist as special operatives, and…
ironwood also personally invites weiss to enroll at atlas in V4, and he knows jacques personally--prior to the fall of beacon it's implied they were political allies even, so he certainly knows what kind of person jacques is and how he treats his children. and then the way he talks to the kids when he gives them their licenses in V7 implies an expectation of personal loyalty--he needs huntsmen he can trust at his side.
i think he probably saw it as himself opening doors and taking a personal interest in promising students, much as ozpin does--bc ironwood very much does view himself as ozpin's most important lieutenant and natural successor, based on his unilateral actions after the fall--without necessarily recognizing (or caring) how manipulative and exploitative this sort of behavior is. but 100%, absolutely he was surprised by winter's "betrayal" because he thought she was his perfect protégé, never realizing she could still think for herself.
the funny thing is, projecting absolute obedience and deference while keeping her true thoughts and feelings behind a faultless mask is almost certainly a survival skill winter learned to protect herself from jacques, and she slips seamlessly into doing that the instant ironwood begins to make choices she disagrees with.
ditto her decisions in V8: winter sees ironwood murder a councilman in cold blood, going past "martial law" all the way to "military coup," and she sees the ace-ops brace up and fall in line. so what does she do? quietly stays put and starts doing what she can to sabotage him. she lets JYR go, then--upon realizing that they must have been the ones to blow up the whale, and thus probably survived--immediately turns around and declares they're going back to ironwood, no searching for the hostages, they'll tell him something else blew up the whale in person. jumping in to "arrest" marrow before ironwood shot him wasn't the moment winter "came to her senses"--that happened when she saw ironwood shoot sleet. it was just the moment when she saw she could do more good by leaving than by staying to mitigate ironwood's excesses. & i would bet anything that is exactly how winter was with her siblings when they were children: appeasing jacques and presenting as the perfect obedient child, and using the relative freedom that gave her to make things easier for her siblings in small, quiet ways.
ironwood just never noticed that he'd burned through all of winter's trust and all the chances she was willing to give him.
as for his reaction to penny's death: another moment i think about fucking constantly is this:
the way her focus goes right to penny's sword. the pause before she responds "sir?" to ironwood's greeting because she's so caught up in her worry for penny. (watts being… watts, and silently gloating at her because he can tell how bothered she is. framed between ironwood and harriet, who don't see penny as anything but a weapon to get under control.)
there's a reason winter is such a storm of feelings when she lets JYR go to try to save their friend, and the reason is she's terrified and angry and disgusted by whatever ironwood did to penny while she was being fitted into that brace, unable to intervene or protest.
so a day later, when penny dies and ironwood shrugs? it's not just that he's indifferent. ironwood is directly responsible for penny's death--he made the devil's bargain with watts, he authorized that virus, he is the reason penny was forced to leave her robotic body behind, he made penny vulnerable to cinder--and winter knows that.

ISRAEL REALTIME - "Connecting the World to Israel in Realtime"
HAPPY CHANUKAH !!! Chanukah night 5 TONIGHT 🕎🕎🕎🕎🕎
🔹ROCKETS from Gaza… short range, near border towns, 2 rounds at 3 AM. Sderot and surrounds this morning.
🔹ROCKETS from Lebanon… short range, Ma’alot Tarshiha and surrounds, 6 rockets intercepted, this morning.
▪️The Last Testament of soldier Ben Zusman, may his memory be a blessing and Hashem avenge this blood:
"I am writing this message to you on my way to the base. If you are reading this, something has probably happened to me. If you know me, As you know me, there's probably no one happier than me right now. I was just about to fulfill my dream soon. I am grateful for the privilege to defend our beautiful land and the people of Israel.
Even if something happens to me, I don't allow you to sink into sadness. I had the privilege to fulfill my dream and my destiny, and you can be sure that I am looking down on you with a big smile. Perhaps I'll sit next to Grandfather and bridge some gaps. Each one will share their experiences and what has changed between wars, and we'll talk a bit about politics, and I’ll ask him for his opinion.
If, God forbid, you are sitting shiva (in mourning), turn it into a week of friends, family, and joy. Have food, definitely meat, beer, sweet drinks, seeds, tea, and of course, Mom's cookies. Laugh, listen to stories, meet all my friends you haven't seen yet. Seriously, I envy you. I would like to be there to see everyone.
Another very, very important point. If, God forbid, I fall captive, alive or dead, I am not willing for a soldier or civilian to be harmed because of any deal for my release. I do not allow you not to conduct a campaign or protest or anything like that. I am not willing for terrorists to be released in exchange for me. In no way, shape, or form. Please do not twist my words.
I'll say it again; I left home without even being called up to reserve duty. I am filled with pride and a sense of duty, and I always said that if I have to die, I hope it will be in defense of others and the country. (From the song Guards of the Walls) ‘Jerusalem, I have placed the guards’ (Yishayahu 62:6), that the day will come when I will be one of them."

I just made it back from Portland last night, and the post-con depression do be hittin a bit, but I got things to say, and people to say it to!!!!! So without further ado,
To my crew,
Thank you all so much for giving me legitimately the most fun convention I have ever been to, and the best birthday I’ve ever had. I could never have asked for a better crew and family. I’m sad we all have to return to our little corners of the world, but I am excited to see you all again. Because this is not goodbye, you’re stuck with me now. We’ll see each other again, be it in a year or whenever, it’s only a matter of time! I love you all dearly!!!
Ollie, ( @crypticcoffe )
To the small boy we keep on our ship (or rather in our hearts), thank you so much for being such a wonderful person. You are family, through and through, and I am so grateful that you made the decision to come to Kumo and hang out with us! It was so much fun, and I cherish every single memory we made together, and I look forward to the next year!! (Fingers crossed for the madoka magica cosplay group!) Thank you for making me feel wanted every single day, even with something as simple as a good morning and a good night. You don’t know just how much even that means to me. I want to repay that kindness someday, make sure you know just how important you are to all of us, no matter what. You’re family, and I keep saying it, but it’s just as true as the first time I said it. I’m so glad you accidentally joined the discord server, because it’s lead to probably the greatest group of people I could ever hope to know. It would never be the same without you, and I’m so glad you stuck around and hung o it with us. Love you, Ols! /p Can’t wait to keep making ridiculous memories with you!
Fish, ( @aquaticgoblinking )
You are legit one of the funniest people I know, even when we first started interacting there was just something to you that screamed that you were the king of comedy. I’m still studying the Atlantean alphabet diligently, the world is not ready for the day that I can just write it without a guide. You are such an integral part of our crew, you breathe life into it and inspire others even when you don’t mean to. By the way, that book you made me is going to be something I cherish forever, I’m probably going to end up filling it up pretty quickly, but I’ll be figuring out ways to make it last! I’ll be sure to bring it to Kumo next year and if you end up coming I’ll show you all the silly stuff I drew :3. Btw, I’m so so so happy you came to Kumo, I know we weren’t sure if it was gonna happen, but I hope you had a good time! Excited to get our silly crew together again soon!! I love our family, every single silly part of it.
Syren ( @sisiren )
To my Jay Ferin, my silly brain-linked buddy. I really don’t know what qualifies someone as a best friend, but I do know you’re like number one in terms of friends in my books! To think we only met one year ago, by complete chance, and soon we’re gonna be able to hang out so much more often!! You’re such a kind, understanding person, it makes my heart hurt. On that same point, GOD, do you know how to break hearts with your writing. Literally, if anyone ever wants their fucking emotions torn out and scattered like dandelion seeds, just read literally anything this absolute demon of a person has come up with. It’s harrowing. That aside, I cannot imagine a life without you in it. I can barely imagine life before you were there, it’s so funny. I joke about you me and Ti being albatrio, but I truly think we’re just all meant to exist together. Something deep inside of me knows that I’m exactly where I’m meant to be. We’ve talked a lot about fate and destiny, and not to sound super sentimental or anything, but with the little bracelet you got us sitting on my wrist, I can’t help but think. I think you two are my destiny.
Idk, that’s probably cheesy as hell. Still, I can’t wait to go skydiving with you, and celebrate your birthday like it’s the end of the world, and drag you out to experience every single thing life has to offer. See you soon, Sy!!
Tigers, ( @tigers1o1 )
Not to be gay, buuuuut.
I miss you, so much. It’s been a day, and I already miss hearing your laugh and leaning up against you and being able to reach over and touch you and just know that you’re there. We can call, of course, but I am counting down the days until I can see you next. I’ve actually started using a calendar, since I’ve started talking to you in full, which is hilarious. If you were to tell me two months ago that I would be staying up every night falling asleep on call, counting days like an advent calendar I would probably call you crazy, because why would anyone ever spend that much time with another person, especially when they are so far away??
Yeah, I get it now. A lot of things make sense now. Like why people are made with an inherent sense of yearning, a need to find that other half, that missing piece. Why completionists exist, why someone would spend their entire lives searching just for an inkling of a feeling. Freight train, am I right?
You and Sy are people I feel like I’ve known my whole life, despite only really being aware of each other for such a short amount of time. I don’t feel like the small time period takes away from our closeness, though, which is funny. Like it wouldn’t matter if we’ve known each other years or months or days, as long as we know each other. That’s all that matters. All that matters is that we’re connected, by whatever force or coincidence.
If you end up moving to Portland, that’ll be so damn funny. I definitely won’t be bouncing off the walls and running victory laps or anything ahah. It’s weird, to be so aware of one’s own loneliness, but to also be fine with it, because I know it will be filled when I get to see you next. Because I made an oath, and I intend to keep it, extra forever.
Okokok that’s the end of my spiel. Well, also, to Ollie’s dad, and to Fish’s sibling thing, thank you so much for joining us for Kumo as well!! To Nick who officiated the fish and chips wedding, thanks a million! To my sister, who was eternally our biggest hater, keep it up, your hatred only fuels us (/aff). And to that random dude on the street who offered me and Ti his blanket to dry off a bench while waiting for a train, I hope your days are filled with warmth and your belly is always full. Also to the black ops larper who stopped me in a market to talk about the government, hope ur doing alright king.
NOW IM DONE!!! HERE, SOME PHOTOS

The "Kairi Problem"
Hey guys it's Kairi day I'm gonna go on a long rant about how sad I am that she kinda sucks as a character.
To start I want to say that I absolutely adore Kairi, and that this isn't meant to be me hating on her, because I do really love her as a character (I literally stole her name for heavens sake). I just believe that there are a lot of problems with her character I need to get out of my system.
Ok, let us begin! First off, and the main issue with her for me is her pure reliance on Sora, and how much that really has damaged her character. Kairi is best when she's not around Sora. For instance, her conversations with Lea in KH3 are some of my favorite parts of that game. Their dynamic is so fun, and I wish they had more screentime together because they have the potential to have this sibling relationship that would be so wholesome. Along with her other interactions with characters, she could have such a great friendship with Aqua, seeing as Aqua will be teaching her how to better herself with the keyblade, it would be great to see more of their interactions.
HOWEVER! These are the only 2 meaningful relationships Kairi has outside of Sora. And even then, Sora makes up 80% of her interactions. Not even her and Riku talk much after KH1. They hardly even talk in Melody of Memory, a "Kairi game" where she is hardly playable. Not only that, at the end of that game Riku basically told her that she needs to stay home and let him to do work to find Sora. This to me is a big misstep in the writing for her character.
Kairi has self-confidence issues, one of her battle lines in Re:Mind is literally "please work". She has no faith in her abilities, but so much can be done with that. She can have an arc about believing in yourself and coming into her own and learn to stand beside Sora and Riku, not just letting them protect her.
This is partially due to her lack of screentime. She's never really been the focus of anything, she's just Kairi. The prize. That's really what she is, she's like the princess in another castle. Just "the girl". And that's a terrible thing to do with her character because unlike Peach, the princess in another castle, Kairi doesn't get the chance to rise above that label. In 21 years you'd think she'd be given something, anything really. I think that's why her kicking a heartless in the KH TV show pilot made me, and probably others, so excited. She did something! And it was cool, that's what we needed. Something cool.
So why am I talking about all this? The fandom has made jokes about Kairi being a plank of wood for years, it's no secret to anyone she's been given very little in terms of character. I guess my question is why? Why is Nomura giving this character with an interesting backstory and an interesting set of powers with seeds of a character if you squint such little time? Not only has she been around since the very beginning, but even characters who we know much less about than her are far more fascinating. I like to compare her to Yozora, who is a character we really know nothing about however we know he's powerful, and we know he has a goal. And I can assume he will deliver on both of those things even when we know more about him. Kairi on the other hand has had very few cool moments, has no goal, and just MIGHT be powerful. I mean you'd think having a princess of heart, a topic that has been covered in multiple games and will likely continue to be touched upon, as a main character would be amazing, right? Well, she's hardly ever mentioned to be a princess of heart and all we know about her powers is that she can bring back a heartless Sora in Kingdom Hearts 1. And that's it, that's all we know.
And I haven't even gotten into the whole thing about the Destiny Trio, the main trio in this series made up of 3 very important characters, feels more like 2 duos. It's either Sora and Riku or Sora and Kairi, not "Destiny Trio". And we know Nomura can write good trios, even while having 2 of the characters have moments together. So why can't the Destiny Trio have this? The 3 of them hardly interact without one of them overshadowing the other. For instance, the Riku and Sora KH2 reunion.
Sora is confused on how Riku can be here when he looks like Ansem. Kairi shows Sora that it is in fact Riku, and Sora and Riku have a moment. Then Kairi does nothing for the rest of the scene. In every case, that is a Riku and Sora scene where Kairi is just there. And this happens time and time again, where Riku or Kairi is put to the side so they both can have their moment with Sora.
And now it's time to talk about the scene where Xemnas kidnaps her. This scene is just... GAH I HATE IT!!! Xemnas just snatches her and then somehow, she's just passed out and gets killed. Not only that, but the reactions from other characters are also so lackluster. Sora does his "Kairi!" thing, and if anyone else were to have reacted I would say it should be Riku and Lea. Of course, Lea was dealing with his own troubles during that scene, seeing his best friends again was definitely something that would be more important to him, however he and Kairi spent time together growing a bond and training together, you'd think he'd at least go after her a little more? He does nothing! The only person that reacts to it is Sora, which is so sad since you'd think even Roxas would care a bit, since he and Kairi had that brief moment in KH2 where Roxas and Kairi's minds connect. You'd think any of them would have more of a reaction than they did. And she herself just sits there and struggles a bit. She's got another hand she could use to summon her keyblade again and swipe at him or do anything else that isn't absolutely nothing.
This whole scene would have been better if they had waited longer for Kairi to get taken, maybe she goes into battle with Sora, Riku, and Mickey when they fight the norts, but Xehanort swopes down and stabs her with his keyblade or something. If that happens, we could get more of a reaction from Riku. Really anything that isn't what we got would be better.
Throughout this whole series Kairi has been pushed to the side time and time again, and I highly doubt that'll end any time soon. With a new saga coming and more focus being placed on the Foretellers and what came before, Kairi will likely be once again pushed to the side lines while other more interesting characters take the front lines. It's a very sad fate for a character that has so much potential she'll never live up to due to a lack of interest from the writer.

ONE SENTENCE REVIEW FOR EVERY GUNDAM PROPERTY I HAVE EXPERIENCED
Like i said in a previous post, it’s basically everything that you can watch on a screen from 0079 up to IBO. A few manga here and there and one light novel.
NOTE: Don’t take this too seriously, most of these are meme answers. Most of my strong negativity is said in jest. (My positivity is genuine tho)
Starting with UC:
•0079
Absolute classic but i prefer The Origin manga
•Zeta
Well done dark tone but kinda boring at times
•ZZ
Fuck you, the goofball stuff was great and a welcome change of pace
•08th MS Team
Probably the best down-to-earth mecha war story ever
•0080: War in the Pocket
*weeps profusely*
•Sentinel
Really compelling with a great cast, plus the idea of “other ways to emulate being a newtype” is still kinda unexplored both at the time this was written and to this day
•0083: Stardust Memory
Pretty damn good all things considered
•IgLoo
Zudah was a cool idea, too bad the tallgeese did it first and everything else about the show is boring af
•IgLoo Apocalypse
The best of the IgLoo trilogy but still around a 6.5/10
•IgLoo 2
Shinigami are canon to the universal century, 0/10
•Thunderbolt
Amazing in almost every way, plus the most effective usage of a sociopathic fed vs a well meaning zeon
•Twilight Axis
Meh
•Char’s Counterattack
The Resurrection F of UC
•Unicorn
Best anime i’ve ever watched
•Narrative
I just like that Unicorn got a direct sequel goddamn it
•F91
I so badly wish this was a series and not a movie
•Crossbone
Completely validates my opinion on F91
•Victory
Phenomenal use of character death, and I remember nothing else
•Reconguista in G
My favorite anime that i cannot recommend to anyone else on earth
Now for pre-2000’s au timelines:
•G Fighter
You cannot get more funny-bad in the entire Gundam franchise, it’s awesome
•Wing
I didn’t get the hype, but i still had a great time at points
•Endless Waltz
Much better mecha, slightly cooler plot
•X
I’m so sad this was rushed bc it’s by far my fave 90’s Gundam
Post 2000’s au timelines:
•SEED
Very cool pseudo-shounen remake of 0079
•SEED Destiny
Something good almost could have happened here, but no
•SEED Astray/R
Love all these goobers, really good
•Astray X
Worst official localization for any manga i’ve ever read, but there was still some cool stuff
•SEED Stargazer
*weeps profusely, but in the Cosmic Era this time*
•00
Behind the fujoshi bait is one of the smartest and well done mecha stories this side of Code Geass
•00 Awakening of the Trailblazer
… why aliens?
•AGE
I know that it’s my fault but I couldn’t even bring myself to get past the first generation
•Iron Blooded Orphans
I have never cried this many times or this hard over anime characters dying
•Build Fighters
Legit a 5Ds tier Toy Battle anime
•Build Fighters Try
A bit generic but still palatable
•Build Divers
Didn’t go far enough
•Build Divers: Re;Rise
Went way too far in the best way possible
And if it wasn’t clear already, Unicorn is by far my favorite Gundam and favorite anime overall, while IgLoo 2 is both my least favorite Gundam and my least favorite anime i’ve ever seen.

Going to make a whole thesis about the song “Black friday” cause it’s my favorite song from bf and I NEED to be a little nerdy about it. “Oh tete but there is a genius thing explaining it”- ITS FROM MY PERSPECTIVE OKAY
“Is this what I lived for?
To be choked in a toy store?
While staring into hell…”
This first line can be “funny” and tragic, because we see a young girl with so much potential getting KILLED in a TOY STORE because of a DOLL. It’s tragic how her life has been undervalued, she can feel her death coming and it seems so close she can STARE to her destiny.
“Theres something’s that’s beautiful
Being awake for my funeral
You can close the casket now.”
But then it catches me, SHE SEEMS FINE WITH IT, so fine that the imagination of her own funeral it’s a beautiful thing to her. Closing the casket it’s accepting this is the end.
“The plans for my father's hopeless seed
Born into moral poverty
Still, I wasn't the angel heaven sent
To break through my cliché boundaries”
Okay so first we have a “Not your seed reference” that it’s interesting because of the fact that Bill came to save his daughter, Lex’s Father abandoned her.
She saying “moral poverty” it’s a strong choice, not just the money, but the morals. It shows how the relationships between the fosters happened.
And she wanted to be different from her dad and mom, she wanted to break what it us set up to her: a shitty life with a shitty mother in a shitty trailer. She seems disappointed, because she didn’t break it.
“'Cause Friday is black for me
The dreamer has dreamed her dream
When Friday is black
There's no turning back
'Cause Friday is black for me”
Friday being black can be a metaphor for the end, THIS Friday it’s black because it’s MY END.
She dreamed of becoming a actress, but no, that’s her end, that’s how she dies.
And she can’t go back, because, again, THATS HER END OUCHIIIIEE.
“Is there some lesson to learn
Should I never have wanted?
I never even got started
Or were the decks always just this stacked”
Then.
She gets angrier, because she realizes what makes her such a connectable character:
She’s a teen, with dreams, loves, and a hole life to go on. How can she think of something good about this hole situation when she didn’t even TASTED life yet.
And she sees, into unfair because HOW I was SET UP, any rich kid would have an idea how to continue.
“I mean, it's really a godsend
Clear my plans for the weekend
But there's nothing to subtract
I don't want your half-baked sympathy
When did it save those in need?
Still, I thought that angels did exist
But now I hope they plan to end it quick”
In this internal monologue, she’s trying to make things make sense, so she makes fun about the godsend, about her plans for the weekend…it’s just sad.
The she turns to US, THE PUBLIC. Saying she don’t need our pity, because pity doesn’t save life’s. AND ITS SUCH A GOOD WAY TO CRITIQUE A SERIOUS MATTER LIKE THIS..I’m in love with the writing sorry.
Then. She comebacks to her fantasies about angels, but now she just hopes her end is near.
“Only my ashes will see the sea.”
She gave up about California, about her bf, she gave up about everything at this point. Now the sea will be the receptionist of what lasted of her.
“At first I didn't know what she was to me
At first I didn't know why I cared
Or why I wanted
To hold her and rock her to sleep”
And now she encounters the only thing the really kept her going. Hannah was a salvation to lex, lex wanted to be a better person because Hannah existed. She took care of her, she rocked her to sleep, she was the mother and the sister all at once.
“Did I need her more than she needed me?”
The answer? Yes. She needed Hannah to have something to inspire her to continue. In dysfunctional households, the majority of the kids fear ending up like theirs responsible, but don’t have a reason (a formal reason I say) to change, lex encounters hannah as a motivation to grow up to be better.
“Maybe I’m wrong
She can go on her own
But I’m leaving”
And then, she gives up.
She says goodbye to her last hope, and embraces death.
UNTIL OUT MAN GENERAL JOHN MACNAMARA APPEARS AM RIGHTTT
just love this song sorry.

Father of the Year
The figure in the doorway bled light into the air, so bright Kiran had to squint. Blurred by the radiance, their form and features looked even more androgynous, otherworldly. Kiran could not help how her mouth gaped at the sight.
“Kiran Jones,” the visitor intoned, and their voice reverberated, “are you prepared to learn who your father really was?”
The mention of ‘father’ slashed through Kiran’s astonished paralysis. She pressed her lips together and turned her squint into a glare. “Go away,” she spat at the lambent figure, and slammed the door.
The visitor stood in the kitchen when Kiran entered, their halo dimmed until she crossed the threshold. “Kiran Jones!” they proclaimed. “I bring you news of great import! His Radiance, your father --”
“Fuck off about my father,” Kiran recommended. “My father drives a garbage truck, and has for all my life. Now, get out of my place.” She reached into the refrigerator for her pitcher of coldbrew, and started to pour herself a glass.
“I speak not of the human into whose home chance placed you,” the being clarified, “but of he from whose seed you descend. You are heir to --”
“Heir?” Kiran interrupted again. “He’s dead?”
The figure nodded. “His time on this plane has passed,” they confirmed, “which sad event is the cause for my --”
“Good,” Kiran cut them off. “Now get out.” She spun on her heel and stalked out of the kitchen.
When she saw the glow flare from the living room, Kiran growled and changed course. In the foyer she paused long enough to set down her drink, shrug into her jacket, and pull her bag off its peg before she unlocked the front door. “You’re not going to give up, are you?” she scolded the figure that once more filled her doorway with light.
“I am charged to deliver to you the truth of your heritage,” they elaborated, “and forbidden to return until that charge is fulfilled.”
Kiran sighed. “Fine,” she waved a hand in resignation, “get on with it.”
The herald drew themselves up, their expression one of dignified satisfaction. “Kiran Jones,” they proclaimed, “know that your true name is Al’ekenis din Moervyndra, fifteenth of your line. You are heir to the throne of Jhar-Kalan, and the Empire of which it is the center.”
The herald waved one arm toward the foyer, and Kiran turned to see a crackling circle stretch open. A vast cityscape sparkled inside, slender towers connected by bridges of light. “With your father’s passing, the time of your concealment is ended.”
“Concealment?” Kiran echoed with a frown. “Why was I concealed?”
“Why,” the herald returned, “for the good of the empire! So no factions of malcontents could use you as a challenge to your father’s rule! But now is your time. Return with me now, Your Radiance, and claim your birthright! It is your destiny!”
“No.”
Confusion twisted the herald’s features. “You… refuse?” they marveled. “You cannot refuse!”
“Bite me,” Kiran offered. “Where was His Radiance when I broke my arm in kindergarten? When it hurt so bad I couldn’t sleep? You know who was there, who held me and rocked me and sang off-key? Morris Jones.
Kiran stepped toward the herald, and they were forced to give ground. “How about when I got my first period? Did His Radiance explain what would happen, buy me my first cup, research how to use it so he could show me? Guess who did.”
“M-Morris Jones,” the herald ventured.
Kiran pointed a finger at their chest. “Right! Now, my first crush, first heartbreak, graduation, every award I ever won, helping buy my first car, get my own place. Did His Radiance do any of that? Did he even send one of his minions to take care of any of that?” She glared up at the herald, jaw jutting.
“A-affairs of empire must needs take precedence --” the herald attempted.
“No!” Kiran slashed the air with a hand. “You don’t get to defend him! I don’t care who he was, or how much of an empire he had! You admitted he dumped me here not for my benefit, but so he wouldn’t have to worry about a revolution! Well, you know what?” She took a step back. “I’m glad he did. I’d hate to have grown up with such a self-centered ass for a father. Instead,” her voice cracked, and she swallowed, “I got a dad who busted his ass for me, who was there every time I needed him, who made sure I grew up with honesty, compassion, and honor! That’s who my father really is!
“Now,” Kiran stepped forward again, and put her finger against the herald’s chest. “You take yourself and your empire, and you go set up a regency, or better yet, abolish your fucking monarchy and set up a government where the people make their own choices. But you go take care of it, and leave me to the life I made for myself!”
The herald goggled. “You… abdicate?”
Kiran shrugged. “Use whatever word works for you,” she recommended. “I’m done.” And she walked around the herald as she pulled her front door shut, and strode to her car, parked at the curb. She watched the herald vanish in a column of light that lanced up into the night sky, and pulled her phone from her pocket.
“Hi, Dad? Oh, not much. Mind if I come over? I’ll bring Chinese!”

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” —Mark 11:24 (NIV)
“Believe and See” By Joyce Meyer:
“If we look at life without considering the promises of God, all we have is what we see or feel. But with God’s promises, what seems impossible becomes possible. God’s only requirement is that we believe what He says more than we believe anything else. The world says, “I won’t believe until I see,” but God says, “Believe and then you will see.”
What do you believe about yourself, your past, and your future? Do you believe things will always be the way they have always been? I hope not, because if things in your life have not been good, that means you are stuck with that as your destiny. Perhaps you didn’t have a good beginning in life, but you can have a great finish! I know that is true because God says in His Word that He has a good plan for our future, one that should fill us with hope (see Jeremiah 29:11).
"When people have been emotionally wounded, it adversely affects how they think. Their thoughts are often negative, especially about themselves and their life in general. They may live with what the Bible calls “evil forebodings,” which is an expectation that something bad is going to happen. However, God’s Word renews our minds. It teaches us how to think and to expect good things to happen. It gives us a new attitude that allows us to live with joy and hope rather than with sadness, depression, and discouragement. It takes time and patience to see the changes you desire, so don’t expect things to change overnight.
God’s Word has inherent power in it, and once we learn to think in agreement with God, we will see positive changes in our lives. But remember, believing must come before seeing. God told David he would be king, but 20 years passed before he wore the crown. David went through a lot of difficult testing of his faith while he waited, but at the right time, he did become king. Like David, at the right time you will be all God wants you to be and have all He wants you to have. Just continue believing God’s promises and refuse to give up!
Ask God for things in prayer that are impossible and believe you will see them come to pass. While you wait for God to heal your wounded soul, stay busy helping and being kind to other people. The Bible tells us to “trust God and do good” (see Psalm 37:3). Each morning, ask God to show you someone you can help that day, and as you do, your joy will increase, and you will be sowing seeds for your own harvest.
Prayer of the Day: Father, help me to believe Your promises and trust Your Word, more than anything else. Renew my mind and help me to think positively. Help me to trust You and do good each day, amen.” 🙏

Everyone's destiny is to become wind, which is not a bad thing, a sad fate. The wind brings life. it gives seeds, water, perfumes and seasons, the wind comes from the sun, from the sea, from the mountains, and runs everywhere bringing with it, clouds and hawks, storms and sea storms. It makes the woods speak, kites dream, planes fly, shakes the deserts, sows and reaps, fertilizes and dries, it is the breath of God, his faithful angel. For this reason the wind is everyone's destiny, because everything in the wind finds meaning, reason. Then, when I am wind, I will find you in him and from that moment, we will never leave each other again, because together, we will be in the clouds, we will give seeds and water, together we will be life, storms and storms, we will listen to the woods, we will support kites and dreams , we will be born with the sun, we will cradle the moon, in the wind, together.
