Ferb Fletcher: Phineas and Ferb (2007-15, 25)

Coolest main character in the show that needs no words to show off his skills and whimsy

Gabriella: The Little Mermaid "When you wish upon a starfish" (1993)

Gabriella actually says a lot, but it's in sign language. She was many 90's children's first introduction to ASL (80's kids got The Smurfs) and even though she wished to sing, the show deliberately didn't "grant her wish" because, again, she already says so much with the language she has. A classic "this disability doesn't mean they can't do what abled people can do" episode, but beautiful nonetheless.

The Totally Official Xiao Jingyan Costume Bracket!!

Warrior Buffalo completely destroyed Baby Buffalo in round one with 93.9% of the vote. It seems not even youthful Jingyan's flowing hair could win people's hearts.

Meanwhile it was a brutal, closely fought battle between two fan favourites - Sad Buffalo and Winter Buffalo, but Winter Buffalo cinched it in the end with 52.2% to 47.8%. (I am not salty about this at all.)

Can Warrior Buffalo repeat its landslide win, or has he run into trouble?

Sophie Deveraux vs. Buffy Summers

Remember: don't vote on "who would win in a fight", but on "who, when given a task that fits her skillset and talents, would do that task better: more comprehensively, faster, with more pizzazz, with less collateral, etc."

Endorsements! "What is she good at?"

Sophie Deveraux, Leverage: Give her the right stage, and she can be anyone. She can change character on a dime; she can read people from just a passport photo, she came to her own funeral - twice! - in the certain knowledge people wouldn't recognize her because she was acting. She oozes style (just not always the same style), and despite her good looks, she isn't just a pretty face - and in Leverage Redemption, well into her forties or even past fifty, she is still perceived to be hot and desirable, a woman in her prime!

Buffy Summers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer: At the age of sixteen, she has more experience at her job than her mentor, and pretty much every other character on the show for that matter. Over the course of the show she saves the world at least ten times, defeats a literal god, and fundamentally reshapes the system that made her a child soldier in the first place, all while dealing with intense trauma and eventually, crippling suicidal depression. She's a good leader and is usually the one to come up with the battle plans (despite, and I cannot stress this enough, being a teenager and young adult who has a grown ass man for a mentor). She's also a very skilled fighter, and she improves from season to season. And in later seasons she has to accomplish all this while also raising her teenage sister and working fast food.

She's not perfect. For one thing she's a teenager and for another, as it turns out, crippling depression is in fact crippling. But even at her worst she's almost always competent as a slayer. Plus, her hair and make-up are consistently on point. (thank you tumblr user @comradesummers )

Match Review: Athletic Club 0-3 Manchester United

Ah this was a mint game. The stats below show our dominance.

United went 1-0 up after half an hour thanks to the magic wing play of... Harry Maguire. The fuck? He slow-mo skinned the defender, twice, whips in a cross to Ugarte, who nods on to Casemiro and heads it home.

Amad rightly ripped him with this meme above, and Onana had him as the original Ronaldo with the stupid fringe-only 😂

Five minutes later and Dani Vivian was sent off for a foul in the box, adjudged by VAR to have denied a goalscoring opportunity for Rasmus Hojlund and - through not attempting to play the ball - the letter of the law said they had to be red carded.

Vivian immediately got in the face of Hojlund who protested whilst sat in the box, and karma was fun watching his disbelief at the dismissal.

Up steps captain cool to bury the penalty, and it's 2-0 United away in the hostile Estadio de San Mamés - with so many home fans all wearing the home shirt to try and encourage their side.

It wasn't enough though, and the 10 men succumbed to a third goal just before half time: a scramble near the Bilbao box saw Ugarte back heel / back roll a ball through for Bruno to run onto and tuck past the keeper. 3-0, and the semi final was looking almost done.

United's fault, if anything, was not scoring in the second half to put the tie to bed good and proper. There's still a job to be done at Old Trafford on Thursday. That being said, Amorim was able to rotate a bit for fitness and safety.

Lets see if we can't get the job done next Thursday. Up the Reds.

Cancelled Projects Round 3 Poll 2

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit

Cancelled because: No reason given

It would have been nice to see more about Oswald, Disney lost the rights to Oswald back in the 1920s he is one of the oldest characters. Giving him his own series would be a nice way to revive such an important character to the Disney legacy.

My Peoples (Once in a Blue Moon / A Few Good Ghosts)

Cancelled because: Disney head of animation David Stainton felt that Chicken Little, which was also being worked on at the time, would be more marketable and reach more of a general audience. [The Florida studio was closed in January 2004 as well.]

They cancelled this movie for CHICKEN LITTLE! Look, I don't care if you do or don't like Chicken Little, but we all know it wasn't exactly Disney's biggest success. Michael Eisner and David Stainton were even very happy with story reels for My Peoples and praised it shortly before announcing the cancellation! This movie was going to be traditionally animated, it was going to have a unique setting and style of music, and there was already a proof of concept trailer and a storyboard animatic of the opening song ready. They had even already gotten Dolly Parton on board as a voice actor! Dolly Parton! Barry Cook took a research trip to the Appalacian mountains and based the idea of folk art dolls being possessed by spirits on ghost stories he had heard there! So much work went into this movie and it had such an interesting concept and every day I wish I could watch it but instead we got Chicken. Little.
