Replacing physical buttons and controls with touchscreens also means removing accessibility features. Physical buttons can be textured or have Braille and can be located by touch and don't need to be pressed with a bare finger. Touchscreens usually require precise taps and hand-eye coordination for the same task.

Many point-of-sale machines now are essentially just a smartphone with a card reader attached and the interface. The control layout can change at a moment's notice and there are no physical boundaries between buttons. With a keypad-style machine, the buttons are always in the same place and can be located by touch, especially since the middle button has a raised ridge on it.

Buttons can also be located by touch without activating them, which enables a "locate then press" style of interaction which is not possible on touchscreens, where even light touches will register as presses and the buttons must be located visually rather than by touch.

When elevator or door controls are replaced by touch screens, will existing accessibility features be preserved, or will some people no longer be able to use those controls?

Who is allowed to control the physical world, and who is making that decision?

So in my off time, I started a modded singleplayer world to explore the Biomes o Plenty and Farmer's Delight mods, so far I've been having a fun experience

Pretty bad spawn though cuz it was a small island with this swamp biome with barely any food

Started farming at a village to get some roots down, I'm gonna be building my base elsewhere in a huge plains area instead. Not sure what vibes I'm aiming for but I want to have a bunch of large crop fields!

FORTUNA: Well… for the low, low price of 10 Hekte… [she grins.] I'm sold. Do the afternoon chores for the goats and the pigs after breakfast and the credit card in my purse is yours so you can get Freddy the Fourth. This is something your parents are going to be fine with you having, right, draga?

DAMIEN: … Yes.

VESTA: [calling out through the foyer.] Tuna? Watch the kids for a second, please…  

FORTUNA: [yells] What do you think I'm doing in here, dingbat?! [Fortuna narrows her eyes suspiciously as she turns her attention back to Damien] Very convincing… but considering it's video games and not drugs, I won't tell your mom if you don't. Wash up before we eat-- go go go.

AGNES: Don't fret about any of the arrangements, dearheart, my nephew will take care of everything. We'll get you a nice cup of tea, and if that doesn't do the trick to soothe your nerves -- a good old-fashioned sleeping potion with some oomph to it, I'm sure Simeon has something useful. Fortuna and Vesta of course have the children well in hand I suspect, but if need be I can stay a few hours…

So, here we have a silly little dell precision 5820 that i scored for the low low price of free :D

It has an intel Xeon 4c4t 3.6ghz CPU, i think

32GB of DDR4 2600MHz

And a whole, 4 drive trays which i am very happy with! So ill be feeding this guy a few things

It also came with a yummy yummy nvida quadro P4000 which i am uh, very shocked they let me take

So overall, would reccomend :3

(However the uh, IT team did forget to take this from me, which i will be returning)

Story time! ✨

Back when I got into Sonic there were only two games available at local retail stores: SADX and Sonic Heroes. Obv I wanted both and since we didn't have any allowance and no money of our own (aside from tiny amount of change we got for grocery shopping chore), it had to be only one and had to wait for my birthday. A couple of months after I learn about these CDs my birthday finally rolls around and! I get SADX! Of course, we immediately try to install it which it does… but the game crashes right after the intro. Reinstalled, fiddled with the settings, etc. Same results… So we take it to the store with the receipt and everything, the girl there checks the disc out for scratches, then pops it into their PC, installs the game and it works perfectly, she shrugs and says tough luck, no returns for perfectly good CDs 😭 You don't know how many times I rewatched that SA1 intro as it was the only piece of the game I had…

My best friend later let me install the game on her PC but with a prerequisite that we play the game together, so there were some parts I never played with my own hands, and then she had to uninstall the game before we could complete it anyway for some reason I don't remember…

Then another friend lets me borrow his SADX CD that was a repack with pre-rendered cutscenes cut from it so there was no intro for example. It installs and it actually plays! But at random times it crashes (not every session!) and sometimes it freezes our PC, and finally it manages to make it bluescreen. That's when Dad bans the game forever 😭😭

When I got my own laptop though, I was in a very time-consuming university (and then work) and didn't have time for gaming 🤷 So it had to be 2020 for me to be able to replay SADX properly. And hey, it was installed from that very same 2004 CD I got for my birthday =D

I need to draw a diagram for how dimensional space works in LF because I’m going a little insane over the world building for it rn

Infodump to see if it makes sense before I commit to this!

So basically, one server/world is one flat plane. Plane = server/world

The Overworld/End (O/E) of a given plane are at the same location in terms of dimensional space, but the Nether (N) is an inversion of that same location.

Every plane has one Overworld/End and one Nether.

Around every plane is the void, the sky, and the farlands. These three border every plane and all three can technically be used for travel between planes.

Every Void can reach every Void

Every Sky can reach every Sky

Every Farland can each every Farland

^^^ but it has to coincide with your starting point. O/E goes to O/E and N goes to N. You can’t go into the Nether’s Void and end up in the Overworld/End of somewhere else

Likewise, you can’t get to the Void from the Sky, nor the Farlands from the Void or any other combination. V will always to to V, S to S, and F to F

So every plane technically has two V/S/F since it’s one for the Overworld/End, and one for the Nether

We’ve established the Void/Sky and Farlands. The Void/Sky are two separate spaces that function the same, but the Farlands is basically uncoordinated world generation. All three are the borders to a given Plane, and usually they blend directly into a neighboring plane HOWEVER

The Void/Sky/Farland of a given plane can only stretch so far. If it doesn’t collide with another Plane, it does eventually reach a point to where it’s entirely detached from the plane of origins.

For the Void/Sky, this lack of attachment is called Closed Space. It has no code whatsoever, meaning there’s no physics, no game mode, nothing. Code can be added to this space, but it has nothing of its own

For the Farlands, this lack of attachment is called the Fractal Plane (<- might be a math term so might have to change that). It has a nearly unpredictable distortion of existing physics. Gravity might face the wrong direction in some places, water/lava flows in a chaotic pattern, redstone may work backwards, air might be replaced with barrier blocks, etc. etc.

But again! I need to draw this out because it’s wildly complicated when it’s just written down
