Jaden is a child of divorce (His father is currently in the underworld and his dad is trying to drag him back by his duel disk or so help me Yugi I will go their and duel you myself.)

Every few years Yugioh comes back and takes over my life.

And as I rewatch the anime I can’t stop thinking about a world where Jaden was raised by Yugi.

I don’t know if you all remember but a few years back there was a creator on here and they had an au were the Gx gang were raised by the Duel monster gang. But they are gone now and I can’t find their stuff😢 but it’s okay. I’ve got my own ideas on this!

Instead of having the whole Gx gang raised by the DM gang we are just going to focus on Jaden.

When Jaden is four all the drama with Yubel happens. His parents aren’t around very often, and Yubel is being Yubel. She sees Jaden fighting and losing duels so she lashes out at the other duelest because in the dark world if Jaden lost that duel he’d be dead. She’s just protecting him. He designs the Neo-spacians and they get sent into space, and his parents make the request for Yubel to be sent up as well (I know in the show it was Jaden but we’re going to say it was his parents idea first)

Jaden is now having horrible nightmares about Yubel and his shadow magic is lashing out. He’s four. He has so much power and no idea how to control it. So his parents, afraid of their child take him to get ‘help.’ Whatever it is that they do it blocks out Jaden’s powers and his memories. He can’t remember Yubel, he can’t see spirits. But it’s to late. He’s already branded a social pariah and his parents are scared of him and he doesn’t know why. His parents just can’t take it anymore and drop the kid off at a fire station (don’t know if this is a thing in Japan but in some states you can drop a kid off at any age at and just leave) or maybe they just die. Either way they are gone and he’s in an orphanage. Alone, scared, no spirits, parents, or friends.

Here is where Yugi comes in.

Our boy just graduated. DSOD just happened. (Jaden’s cards going to space were Kaiba testing things for his satellite thingy) Kaiba is AWOL. But Yugi doesn’t know why…yet.

Maybe he’s in town for a tournament, or college, but for some reason he’s in town, and what he does find is this kid dueling by himself in a park. No one will go near him and he looks so lonely. And Yugi knows that feeling. So he goes over and plays with the kid. Jaden is ecstatic, the king of games wants to duel him! Best day ever.

Over time the two keep running into each other until Yugi learns about the kids situation. No family, no friends, he’s alone in the world. And Yugi, he just can’t stand that. Yes Jaden is a little loud and over excited but he’s a great kid and Yugi can’t even comprehend why his parents would abandon him. So he makes the decision to go and adopt this kid.

But the adoption’s weird. He expected a lot of questions. He’s 18 after all, and while he’s got his grandpa’s support, he’s still 18 years old trying to adopt a 4 year old. But the orphanage basically throws the kid at him happy to be rid of the problem. (Everyone in that part of town knows what used to happen when Jaden dueled.) and Yugi is perplexed. He’s not mad, it’s the outcome he wanted, but why is everyone so scared of the kid?

He tries to find out but there are no records of Jaden. Who his parents are, or what happened. (Rich people have the ability to get certain records closed) so he goes to the one person he can think of who might be able to find those records, Kaiba. But when he gets there Mokuba is barely keeping it together. Yugi asked where Seto is and the kid just breaks down, telling him all about Seto’s trip to the afterlife to duel Atem and Yugi is floored. Why would he be so stupid. Mokuba begs Yugi to go after his brother. But Yugi hesitates, he’s got Jaden to worry about now.

“Who’s Jaden?” And it’s in this moment that Yugi realizes he was so wrapped up in adopting Jaden, getting him home, and trying to figure out why that whole town was scared of a 4 year old, that he didn’t tell anyone about Jaden! So he quickly explains to Mokuba who Jaden is and what is happening and why he needs Seto’s help.

Mokuba didn’t think he could like Yugi anymore then he already did, after all Yugi has helped him and Seto a lot, but now! After learning he saved a kid for an orphanage and an awful upbringing like he and Seto had, he adores this man. (Now if Seto would just get his head out of his butt and realize that Yugi isn’t just his rival but also a perfect match. He’s the biggest rivalshipper) but he needs Yugi to go after Seto, after all who else can?

So Yugi calls Joey to watch Jaden. And Joey is experiencing so many different emotions, having so many breakdowns. What do you mean you got a Kid Yug? What do you mean Kaiba went to the Afterlife to duel Atem? What do you mean you’re going after him? Why? I’m so confused!!

But he instantly loves Jaden. They both love dueling, they both have empty heads. Uncle Joey is in the house! He offers to go after Kaiba for Yugi, Jaden can’t lose him, but Yugi insist he go. He wants to see Atem, but he also knows he has a better chance than Joey at coming back.

So after Kaiba Yugi goes. Jaden’s safe with Joey and Mokuba.

And if this isn’t in the top 5 weirdest thing Yugi’s ever done, which is saying something.

He meets up with Kaiba and Atem. And Atem has spent the last month yelling at Kaiba for coming here because the man didn’t plan on how to get back. And here comes Yugi, Atem sees him and starts to lose it because, either Yugi is dead or he followed Kaiba here and he doesn’t know which is worse. Until Yugi starts yelling at Kaiba as well. Because “I had to leave my son to come get you!” And hold up now Atem and Kaiba are Floored because “son?”

Atem’s wondering if it’s been way longer than he thought and Yugi and Kaiba have just aged well, or did he miss something THAT big when he was with his aibou.

So Yugi has to explain who Jaden is. (Kaiba’s in love but he doesn’t realize it) and Atem is so proud.

Yugi drags Seto back down to earth but not before some adventures in the afterlife. That may end with Atem coming back down with them by accident. (A gift from the gods, Atem didn’t plan or ask for it, but he will forever be grateful for this second chance at life) Uncle Atem gets to meet his nephew and he’s pumped.

Jaden grows up so loved. Learning from the best. Seto finds out about Jaden’s past and Atem works with the kid on unlocking his powers once again while Kaiba tries to retrieve Jaden’s cards from space. (They are his soul cards, he’s suppose to have them, just as Kaiba is suppose to have Blue-eyes, or Atem the Dark Magician. And Seto just sent them to space!! Yugi was not happy when he found out, he doesn’t blame Seto, but he’s not happy)

Jaden grows up going to all of his dad’s tournaments. They give the kid a baseball hat and sunglasses so no one knows what the ‘prince of duels’ looks like.

Eventually Yugi and Seto get their crap together and start dating/get married. Seto is the most over protective Oto-san ever. Only rivaled by uncle Atem.

When Jaden is fourteen he’s ready to go to duel school. He enrolls are Jaden Yuki. His transcript does not mention his parents, as Jaden doesn’t want any special privileges at the school.

Yugi gives his son winged kuriboh on his way to his entrance test. The whole gang is there in a private sweet to watch the entrance exams and see Jaden’s duel against Dr. Crowler.

Seto is furious at his staffs behavior but Yugi and Atem are more focused on Jaden finally being able to see spirits again. They’re so excited. Seto less so, he’s happy for his son but he’s so focused on his employee bullying a child, his child. (Lets just say Crowler owes keeping his job to Jaden, he will have no clue of this until after Jaden graduates)

Gx is so much funnier because Kaiba is hearing about all the crazy things his staff is doing and he’s ready to fire everyone, but his son keeps saying he likes them, the school, the adventure. Jaden so desperately doesn’t want any of his classmates to know who his parents are, not wanting to be treated differently. So Seto can’t fire them, yet. But once Jaden graduates he is overhauling this school.

Yugi is at a cross between laughing at Atem and Seto being over protective and also losing his mind because who stored the dark lords at this school! “Seto, did you know about this?” (Seto’s never been more scared of his husband)

Season one is uninterrupted. But season 2 is close. Even Yugi wants to step in when the evil cult comes to light. But it’s season 3 that makes the family lose their minds.

So, a while back i wrote some notes for a fanfic idea that I had, about Kaiba adopting Jaden when he was very little; there is a lot of fanart about it and a few fanfics too, but a lot of them focused on ships i don't care a lot about so i wanted to write my own take on it... the only problem being that i haven't watched a lot of GX yet, so I didn't feel that confident on writing it, also don't really have a lot of free time.

So i'm posting my notes on it here! Maybe i finish it someday, i don't know, but here it is:

Plot: Jaden Yuki is actually Seto Kaiba’s adopted son, probably named Jaden Kaiba. His biological parents died when he was very young, and Kaiba at the time wanted to adopt a child (he would not admit it out loud, but he was feeling a bit lonely after Mokuba grew up and started to study a lot more and go out with friends, and so decided to adopt someone).

His personality is still pretty similar to the original, very cheery, lazy and childish, but a little smarter since he studied a lot more when he was younger (not a lot though…).

His relationship with his father is a little… complicated. His father clearly loves him, and wants to protect Jaden of any problem that could happen. Jaden also loves his father, and thinks that he is super cool and talented. But Kaiba can be quite clueless about people’s emotions and needs sometimes, and Jaden is pretty reckless and energetic in a way that frustrates his father quite often.

He also wants him to inherit KaibaCorp one day, something that Jaden really does not want to do (he finds this kind of job very boring) and instead wants to become a professional duelist, and become the next king of games. I imagine that the stuff with Yubel happening with him during his childhood too, and I can’t imagine that Seto would want him to spend a lot of his time dueling after all that.

He met Yugi and friends quite a few times, usually on his birthdays. Kaiba did not invite them, of course, but Mokuba wanted the closest thing he had to friends to meet his son. Jaden loves Joey and Yugi, and imitates them a lot, something that annoys his father quite a bit.

(BTW, Yugi has retired from dueling, and now works making games and in his grandfather’s gameshop. He works for KaibaCorp, and can give advice to Kaiba and Mokuba on how to deal with some of Jaden’s emotions sometimes.)

Besides Yugi’s friends, he also probably met Pegasus before (though I doubt that his father ever told him about the bad things he did in the past), as well as Zigfried and Chazz’s brothers. In fact he probably met Chazz when he was younger, but he would not recognize Jaden now.

That’s because Jaden would not be recognizable as Kaiba’s son for the average person; for one, Kaiba decided to not put the spotlight on his son a lot, especially after his childhood, mostly by the insistence of Mokuba to give him a better life as a teen and also stop him from getting kidnapped a lot. He also usually changes Jaden’s hair with gel when they are together, so people won't really know him by his natural “Kuriboh hair” look.

He ends up going to Duel Academy after fighting with his father about his future, with him initially not wanting his son to go; he creates a fake last name (Yuki, inspired by Yugi) and never tells his friends, other students or teachers about the fact that Seto Kaiba is his father (maybe Shepard knows about it, Crowler definitely does not); his father also does not know initially, but Jaden tells him pretty early on and he begrudgingly accepts it. He calls his father on the phone sometimes, probably lies about being in Obelisk Blue. (maybe his father learns the truth later on, won't tell Jaden though.) 

That means that when he helps people with their family problems (Syrus, Chumley, Chazz, Alexis… a lot of people actually) it feels very strange for him; he does not know how to solve the problems with his own father, and just wants to run away from his problems with him.

Eventually i guess Kaiba would finally visit his own school and finally discuss things with Jaden face to face, probably the two would fight about his choices for his future and the fact he's in Slifer. Jaden's friends would probaby be shocked to say the least

Jaden adopts Protags + Demon Slayer

So since I am currently addicted to Demon Slayer, I want to add something to one of my favourite AUs of all time. 

Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado, along with Inosuke, are adopted by Jaden Kaiba. He just saw them and heard their backstories and so he took his adoption papers and adopted them. 

Jaden and Giyuu both respect each other and talk about the Kamado siblings.

Jaden wanted to beat the hell out of Sanemi for hurting his daughter and Shinjuro Rengoku for even trying to bad mouth his son, Kyojiro Rengoku. 

Tanjiro was already liked by his brothers and sisters, as well as Nezuko. Inosuke, on the other hand, some loved him while some were terrified by him. 

Seto had plans on wiping the floor of Muzan the moment he heard what he did to his grandchildren’s family. 

Almost everyone can’t stand Nezuko’s boyfriend, Zenitsu, but some like Jesse respected him. But everyone loved Tanjiro’s girlfriend, Kanao. It took them 2 minutes to realized that they were made for each other. 

I think that’s it so far.

Impression now: BABY EVEN AFTER ALL THIS TIME, I'M STILL INTO YOU... no but FOR REAL do i need to say it? this guy's main power comes from his ability to BEFRIEND people. he's sooo strong but at the start was only ever able to use to defend his friends. he had NO self confidence and his arc was about gaining that confidence to stare down SETO KAIBA and say "sure, why not" when kaiba asked if he was THREATENING him. and the whole "you know i'll do ANYTHING to save a friend so BACK OFF" is criminally underrated. but here's the fucking tHING he's like. everyone treats him as this poor innocent lamb but he's NOT. he ALWAYS thought bullies should suffer. and like. he's always had this fucked up sense of justice. and the underrated moment in the manga when it's YUGI who tells jonouchi to set that serial killer on fire... [stares in the distance] and this dude straight up IGNORED the fact that he was having black outs who DOES that. and - [i am forcibly removed from the premises]

YUSEI FUDO

First impression: hehe card games on motorcycle guy, he's so serious

Impression now: OKAY BUT YOU KNOW WHAT? yeah he's the card games on motorcycle guy and yeah he comes across serious but he's also kind of... a dork? he cares SO MUCH about his friends. this is a man who woke up to two kids staring at him and instantly adopted them. also the way he just... fixes stuff for leo without leo needing to ask? the fact that his entire LOVE LANGUAGE is just taking care of others? and the fact this man NEVER ONCE YELLS? you don't understand no one understands and the fact that stardust dragon's special ability is called "victim sanctuary" and that's... who yusei is at his core? like yusei will take in people and take care of them.

Favorite moment: when he tells aki "no one has the right to turn their backs on you" and declared he needed her so ernestly and so gently i was fucking losing my marbles. it's hard to pick one yusei moment tho cause so many of them are so good

Unpopular opinion: i really cannot stand yusei/jaden as a ship (mostly because again, i consider jaden aro but i also don't consider yusei poly most times). like 90% of it are hardcore ship opinions tbh? and it's all because i really Do Not Like other yusei ships most times. i'll tolerate them but like... but also for god's sake this man is not ur uwu waifu please shut the fuck up and stop degrading his actual skills. and also this man is a top i'm sorry but this man is like. deadass a full on top. not a switch, not a bottom, but an actual top.

Favorite relationship: we all know how i feel about faithshipping but ACTUALLY i love that this man is a genuine father to leo & luna. the first examples being when he resized leo & luna's duel disks so they can actually USE them properly and when luna fainted after her fortune cup duel and he carried her off the pitched. throughout the entire second half of the series, we just see yusei time and time again dropping things to take care of the kids. they come along on his date with aki. when leo brings him plans for the skateboard duel runner, yusei builds it with no question. the man drove down a mansion's door because he simply thought luna might be in danger. like you don't understand this man is a FATHER and it is actually SHOWN SO WELL

If you’ve seen the anime he was an orphan. When I was a little girl I ran a series titled “Adventures of a Duelist” Cats out of the bag. My real name is Scareb Akan. I am a youtuber. - Atem suffers from PTSD from being trapped in the puzzle.

- He can’t do mazes to this day because of the trama he suffered.

- Ryou May not miss the Thife King exactly but he does feel bad for not being able to help him more like Yugi had done with the Pharaoh.

- When Joey heard that Ginzo came to life and terrorized a bunch of students he put that shit in a box and buried that thing.

- Growing up, Atem struggled with magic and summoning. Being around people like Mahad and Set was pretty difficult for him. It just came so naturally to them, but Mana and Mahad kept encouraging him, that even if he was a late bloomer he’d excel and raise above all of them.

- If you think Gramdpa would exploit the fact that both his grandsons are world famous duelists for monetary gain, than you are 100% correct because that’s exactly what he does.

- Atem: Why is it that every time something happens it’s always you three?

- I subscribe to the Atem Has Dreads Headcannon. It shall be fact!

- Yugi ends up being taller than Atem by a whole three inches. Atem gets teased often for this.

- Though Atem tends to shy away from talking about his and Yugi’s sex lives, he’s definitely not shy about the act itself. Ancient Egyptians were known to be pretty enthusiastic about such activities, Atem not excluded.

- Yugi is no innocent angel by any stretch of the word. Let’s not forget he was trading porn with Joey on the regular back in high school.

- Yugi is a Disaster Bi. Atem is a Distinguished Gay. Kaida’s an all around mess with a dragon fetish.

- Jaden had no idea being gay was a thing until he met Yugi and Atem.

- “Wait a sec, you’re telling me a dude can like another dude and that dude can like him back? Holy cow, the last three years suddenly make a lot more sense!”

- All of Atem’s students know he and Yugi are dating. The two of them are painfully obvious, despite trying their hardest to keep it on the down low. The kids have all unanimously agreed to just play dumb and pretend not to notice.

- The students of Duel Academy were all pretty excited when they first heard that the Yugi Mutou was spending every weekend on the island, however the novelty of it all wore off a few months later after they realized he was only interested in undressing their teacher with his eyes. That and, you know, actually undressing him.

- Jaden was actually the first to know about Yugi’s regular visits month ahead of everyone else. He then proceeded to forget to tell anyone and assumed they all already knew.

- The modern day Kisara is a Russian American that came to Japan to teach young children English. She first met Kaiba through Atem. Alcohol has no effect on her. She is very sweet and very, very scary.

- Yugi and Atem have sort of unofficially adopted Jaden because by the gods does that kid need constant adult supervision.

- Weevil and Rex never did regain their past fame. Rex went on to become an artist whose work would featured in many museums and books about dinosaurs, and even designed a few cards. Weevil however remained bitter and never really got over his losses to Yugi. It’s not known how he’s doing, even Rex lost contact with him over the years.

- Mokuba occasionally joins the group in Monster World campaigns. His character is a curtain elven princess with mistic powers.

- Mokuba grows up to be a sneaky devil of a business man. Where Seto just intimidates others to get his way, Mokuba uses a silver tough to convince you to take the deal, and that it was your idea to start with. Seto is very proud, but naturally never shows it.

- There isn’t an orphanage or children’s hospital in Japan that isn’t secretly funded by Kaiba Corp.
