The Jaden gets left behind thought/au is so amazing and angsty, I love it. In this version, is he still the Supreme King, possessed like Jesse was, or a combo of both? Also, how do you think Jesse will handle Dark World?
Oh two great questions.
As far as Jaden it’s complex
Yubel has what they want, Jaden.
There is no reason to remove Jaden’s soul from his body and take over the body. Yubel does this to Jesse because they realize that Jesse is the object of Jaden’s affection. It’s just as much to punish Jesse for taking Jaden as it is to mentally torture Jaden.
But since they already have Jaden there is no purpose to this.
Now I get might still corrupt the crystal beasts. More of a mental game with Jaden. I don’t know if Yubel could use them without Jesse’s body (thoughts?) but hurting Jesse’s beloved family would hurt Jaden.
What about the supreme king?
Yubel’s goal is Jaden not the supreme king.
I think if Jaden saw a member of his family or his friends get “sent to the stars” then he would still become the supreme king.
Like Yubel would still want super poly and Baron would still be trying to make it. Maybe it’s some of the DM cast that gets sacrificed either by Baron or Yubel. Maybe it’s still the Gx cast. (I need to figure out who’s all going)
But Jaden sees his family/friends get sacrificed and he loses himself to grief, becoming the supreme king.
How do Yubel and the Supreme King mix?
Now on to question of Jesse
Jesse is not doing well
He has always been the more level headed of the two. While they are very similar, Jesse is a natural born leader while Jaden gets forced into the position. Jesse has a dream that drives him forward, to be a bridge between spirits and duelists.
But he’s missing his deck.
He’s missing his first true friend. The first person he met that can see spirits like him. (The person who is probably the love of his life)
The most important people in his life have been stolen from him. Yubel has them.
He’s on a mission to get them back.
The DM cast is with him (but they are having their own crisis) he should be surrounded by the strongest duelist in the world (and trained protagonists wranglers) and in a way he is. But they are also struggling with their own guilt and fears over the situation.
He’s also in possession of Jaden’s deck.
Does he give it to Yugi so he has a price of his son? Can he separate from something so precious? He probably still has his original deck (a bug deck from the manga) so he’s not feckless without Jaden’s, but it feels wrong to give them to anyone else when Jaden trusted them with him.
But what happens if he loses them? If something happens to this deck while it’s in his care?
The boy has a lot of thoughts and feelings going on. I don’t know if he would be able to awaken his past life/spirit form especially with him being without the Crystal beast.
What I can say is the boy is a mess

I saw a YGO plotbunny ~somewhere~ and it hasn't left me alone. I don't really like kidfics, but here I am, typing away, and oh boy in these first 2.5K words we've dived into the Japanese child care system, parental pressure, the stress of being a celebrity, and probably an unnamed YGO polycule because who the F would make Mai/Joey/Kaiba a thing. Except me, I guess.
Please send help I don't know what I'm doing or why.
------
You have a fucking kid
Yugi's mind skipped as he read the ping from Kaiba. What was he talking about? He didn't think Kaiba was that interested in the focus group Yugi was conducting today, and just why was Kaiba pinging him anyway? Free days at Kaibaland were one of the few times he put down his phone.
His tablet buzzed again, this time with an attachment. Glancing at the kids trying out the new racing game - didn't seem to be any confusion - Yugi opened the file.
He froze and the world went silent.
Kaiba had sent him a candid photo, a boy on the other side of a chessboard. The board was expected. Kaiba allowed the kids to challenge him on free days and if they won, or at least gave him an interesting game, he'd sponsor their schooling. It wasn't the reward he'd gotten for defeating Gozubura, but sometimes Yugi doubted that was an award anyway. Paying the way for a kid in the premier private school in Domino was more Kaiba's style than adoption anyway.
The kid in the photo was an uncanny ringer for a younger Yugi. Wide, amethyst eyes. A baby face. He didn't have Yugi's dye job, but his short black hair had the same tell-tale spikes if softer and shorter.
Kaiba sent another message. If you don't claim him, you're fired

A thought that keeps cropping up in my mind:
Sugoroku was a traveller. He 100% canonically was in Egypt for a while. We never see his (presumably dead. :c) wife. What if they met there? What if Yugi's like a quarter Egyptian? What about Yugi knowing some spotty Arabic as a result?
... also, a thought on the fly: Yugi catching Marik talking shit in Arabic and Yugi going "yeah, that guy does kinda suck," without even thinking about it.

Bakura: I have a traumatised murderous psycopath living in my head who keeps stealing my body to kill people and if it comes to it I might just kill both of us to stop him
Yugi: I'm mutually sharing my body with a 3000 year old pharaoh who has no memory and used to torture and kill people but he's chill now we're homies <3
Malik: I dunno what the fuck is going on with me but I know it's nowhere near as weird as all that

Catastrophic thought .......... Anzu and Yugi are walking to school together one day ... they run into Jou on the way, he's being weirdly cagey ... they realize he's got a black eye and a bandage on his nose ... Instant Concern but Jou INSISTS he's fine and not to worry and if they take any longer they'll be late for school and ANZU WHAT ARE YOU DOING . Anzu drags both of them to a public restroom and goes "well if you don't want us to know then fine but that means the teachers Definitely don't need to know so let me help" ... and Jou's like "..... yeah ig ....." and she helps him cover up the bruises with a bit of make up she has and it's not great but it works and the teachers don't notice a thing, nobody asks questions and it's great (Yugi has to Really talk Yami down from picking a fight because "no don't it would just make Jou feel worse you know this :(((" and Yami's like "ugh fine,, but I'll remember this")

Hello, welcome to "BrazilianCat's End of the Year Art Bargain Bin", where I post a bunch of random stuff that I either didn't finish, or that I didn't think looked all that great so I never posted before
This batch includes:
Pegasus in Funny Bunny Land (aka the most finished thing here);
My attempt at designing a younger version of Marik's dad;
A Wishshippy thing I made a while ago;
Another Wishshippy thing I made, but this time it was for the Wishshipping week at the beggining of the year;
A thing I did the week I watched The Breakfast Club for the first time;
Two of the Egyptian gods in an ancient Egyptian artstyle (Slifer looks alright, but Obelisk has too many details to look good like this);
My failed attempt at designing a younger design to Atem's dad, Aknamkanon, plus me trying to imagine what his hair looks like;
The two rather different takes on an adult Yugi we have officially

Idk if anyone has asked for these headcanons before, but ok. Do you have any headcanons about the Yugi family and what the twins' relationship was like back then and with their parents?
Am I finally answering this? I think I am
First off I wanna say I am sooooo sorry that I took so long to get around to this one, as I’ve said before I’m not rly an expert on all the Yugi lore (like I’ve read the Red House arc but I was primarily focused on Kou and Katakuri lol) and I was a bit worried abt mischaracterizing them. But it’s not uncommon for my headcanons to stretch canon, that’s part of what makes headcanons fun. So walk with me here and we’re gonna get silly (actually it will probably be angsty bcuz it’s the Yugis but walk with me nonetheless)
Tumblr media
• Starting from the very beginning, I imagine the twins were born prematurely which eventually led to Amane’s health issues
• Tsukasa was able to tough it out but Amane never quite recovered, he came out with more complications and had to be taken into special care immediately
• For children aged 0-2 with chronic health problems, you’re supposed to give them the max amount of attention and reassurance, namely with physical contact
• I like to think this is what led to the twins being so physically affectionate with each other and with their other friends later on. Amane’s parents absolutely smothered him with affection to help him thrive and they naturally did the same with Tsukasa to ensure he stayed healthy, and so he wouldn’t feel left out
• Therefore the twins grew up viewing physical touch as the ultimate way to express love, it’s their love language
• That scene during their third birthday when Tsukasa asks Amane if he loves him was the first time Amane ever told Tsukasa he loves him, he thought it was obvious so it never crossed his mind to say it out loud. Later on, Tsukasa’s need for direct reassurance gave Amane issues with verbally expressing his feelings. It’s much easier for him to show than tell, and his feelings towards Tsukasa became very complicated after The Incident™️, so putting his thoughts into words became a struggle. I am a firm believer in the autistic Amane headcanon so I think that plays a role here, along with him abruptly having to hide his deeper feelings once Tsukasa came back. Even if he were able to verbalize his feelings, it wouldn’t be appropriate to since the situation was so complex and he wasn’t rly decisive on whether this new thing was his brother or not
• I’ve seen the headcanon that their parents were high school sweethearts and I absolutely love that, I also see them as a girlboss x malewife ship (I know I slander that trope a lot but in this case I mean it in a Gomez and Morticia Addams way)
• Amane gets his autism from their father and Tsukasa gets his adhd from their mother
• Their mom would make them homemade donuts a lot which is why they’re Amane’s favorite food
• They never had any proper pets but they did have several yard cats. Unfortunately most of them turned into sacrifices for the entity ://
• Their household became very tense when Tsukasa returned. Their mother began to struggle with mental illness and would lash out a lot, scolding Tsukasa for very basic things (like if she even thought he was looking at her weird she would yell at him)
• Their father tried to make up for this by devoting extra time to bonding with Tsukasa, unfortunately he also had an off-feeling about the whole situation but he tried to push it aside and focus on being a good dad (which caused a lot of arguments between him and Mama Yugi)
• This led to Amane being somewhat ignored, which was an abrupt change as he was the one who used to get all the attention with his illness. His parents would take him out every now and then to do things without Tsukasa but that just made him feel awkward, and most of the time at home the only person to pay him any attention was his brother
• He grew up to be a massive introvert because of this combined with his autism already making it hard to connect with his peers. While Tsukasa gained a lot of popularity for his loud personality, Amane easily fell into the background. He didn’t mind it all that much but it made him very lonely
• They stopped having family dinners around the time the twins hit age 5, after that they only had them for birthdays and holidays and they were very tense and uncomfortable. Amane would always ask to be excused early
• The twins would share a bed a lot up to age three because Tsukasa was very clingy, ofc they couldn’t do it all the time tho bcuz of Amane’s sickness. After Tsukasa came back though, Amane became scared to share a room with him. He would never turn him away, but he’d stay up all night watching Tsukasa to detect any unusual behavior
• As the years went on, Amane’s paranoia became less convenient. He eventually had to give in and just sleep whenever his brother wanted to stay over. Subconsciously, he began to view Tsukasa’s presence as a comfort, and when he became a supernatural he was unable to sleep without his brother in the same building. Seeing as supernaturals don’t need sleep, this went on for decades until Tsukasa returned. Their reunion was terrifying, but Amane slept like a abt that night
• They shared their whole lives together, it would be impossible for Amane not to have some attachment to Tsukasa. But he knows something hasn’t been right with his brother since he came back. Because of this, he feels guilty every time he catches himself laughing too freely at one of Tsukasa’s jokes or stacking up extra pillows for their sleepovers. His love for Tsukasa feels like a betrayal to the brother he lost all those years ago
• With their parents so dysfunctional, it was only natural that the twins clung to each other. They tried to get out of the house a lot to avoid their tense home life, going to festivals and movies (unfortunately Tsukasa and movie theaters do not pair well together)
• I know their dynamic is far from sunshine and roses but on a lighter note, I imagine their more casual moments to look similar to the dynamic of Dipper and Mabel from Gravity Falls
• Amane: Tsukasa, do you believe in ghosts?
Tsukasa: I believe you’re a huge dork
• Like Amane being very serious and academic while Tsukasa tries to cling to their childhood. Amane just wants to get out of that house but Tsukasa is there to make sure he doesn’t rush the growing up process
• Now picture them with the Peanut Butter & Jelly Halloween costumes
• Yk that little thing Tsukasa does where he tackles Amane with a hug every time he sees him?? Yeah he definitely did that in the hallways at school. It was mortifying for poor Amane
• They strike me as one of those families where the parents have very intense front seat arguments every time they drive while the kids sit in the backseat like 🧍🏻🧍🏻
• Their parents were always very cautious of Amane overexerting himself or getting sick again so they wouldn’t let him go on school field trips or play outside a lot. Tsukasa, however, did NOT hold the same conviction and would regularly drag Amane into dangerous situations. It was kind of nice for Amane to have someone that didn’t treat him like he was made of glass all the time
• The twins never talked abt girls or anything like that growing up bcuz Tsukasa wasn’t rly interested in romance, so when he realized Hanako had smth going on with Nene there was a moment where he pulled him aside to have the very serious “I thought you were gay??” talk
• Tsukasa knew all of Amane’s secret hiding spots at their house and vice versa
• Amane preferred sport related games like soccer and baseball but Tsukasa liked to play with dolls so he could make up really convoluted backstories for them
• Sometimes they would play chef where Tsukasa would make the most disgusting food combinations he could think of and force Amane to eat it
• One of their fonder family memories is when Papa Yugi convinced Mama Yugi to take the twins to a carnival. They all had a blast tho Mama Yugi was a bit on edge. Tsukasa got on a sugar high and dragged Amane onto a rollercoaster
Okay I think this is all I’ve got for now, I know these were mainly abt the twins so I’m sorry if you wanted more for the parents😓 They give me rancid vibes idk how to explain it. At least they're hot tho. Thank you for the ask btw these were fun to make!! :D

Sorry if this has been talked about before, but how does Jesse slap some sense into Jaden and help the Muto-Kaiba family get back into a happy healthy place? Because that family desperately needs it.
I have brushed on it here and there but never fleshed it out. This is all very fluid and could change once I finish a rewatch of season 3
After Jaden leaves Duel Academy and is traveling the world he’s dodging calls from everyone. He really feels like he doesn’t deserve his friends. That he’s a danger to everyone around him. And feels that no one trusts him or wants him around.
His only consistent points of contact are Joey, the two had a heart to heart. Joey accepted Yubel as part of Jaden and he understand that needed to leave to find yourself thing. He’s the closest to Mai out of the group and he can see a lot of her struggles in Jaden.
The other constant is Yugi. He’s playing mediator between Jaden and Seto. If Jaden doesn’t check in once a week then Seto’s going to launch a manhunt after him. Jaden knows this and checks in once a week. The calls are awkward and stilted as Jaden doesn’t feel he deserves their concern and Yugi is desperately trying to convince his son that he still loves him. But he doesn’t want to be over barring and push Jaden away more so they’re stuck in limbo.
Enter everyone’s favorite crystal boy.
Jesse tried to catch Jaden at Graduation but he missed him. Jesse desperately wants to see his friend again. The last they saw of each other was just after the duel with darkness had finished. Jesse can tell that there is something wrong with Jaden and he wants to help.
They had texted here and there since Jesse went back to North Duel Academy. Jesse tried to chalk up the sporadic texts to the time difference and Jaden being busy but that never felt right. After seeing him again and dealing with Darkness Jesse knows somethings wrong and he wants to help. He feels like he never should have left Duel Academy. At the same time he knows he needed that time to come to terms with everything that happened. Including Jaden fusing with Yubel. Now though he’s ready and he wants to help Jaden
Only for Jaden to leave.
That’s alright Jaden needs space then they can talk.
Except that Jaden’s not answering any of his text or calls. That’s odd. Jaden’s never froze him out before. He knows out of the three transfers Axel talked to him the most after they left but that’s because he was helping with the Darkness situation. Outside of that Jesse got the most social text and calls. Now it’s radio silence. Jesse’s worried.
He reaches out to the others to see if he’s over reacting. Jaden’s gone radio silent with everyone.
That’s not good.
Jesse’s starting to freak out. He got Yugi’s number during the Viper incident incase Jaden got hurt or they needed help and Jaden wasn’t in the position to text or call for help. Jesse knows this isn’t why he was given the number but he doesn’t care. He’s worried that Jaden is dealing with another crisis but this time all alone.
He calls Yugi and learns that Jaden is traveling. But he also learns about the rift in the family. Yugi knows Jaden’s spiraling but also isn’t in a position to help.
Jesse had already decided he wanted to see Jaden again, but now he knows he’s not leaving him again. Jesse packs his bag and asks Yugi where Jaden was heading.
It takes some time to catch up. Jaden’s moving fast and Jesse’s playing catch up but finally Jesse catches up to Jaden.
Jesse finds Jaden right after he deals with a dangerous spirit or spirit hunter (like trapper) and the two just stare at each other.
Until Jesse closes the distance and pulls him into a tight hug.
The two have a long talk. With Jaden trying to convince Jesse that he’s dangerous. That being near him is inviting danger into your life.
Jesse doesn’t care about that. His life is already dangerous. People want the Crystal Beasts and Rainbow Dragon. It’s not like he’s ever going to have a 100% peaceful life.
Jaden points out that his life is far more dangerous and Jesse just shoots back that that’s why someone should be with Jaden. To have his back.
Jaden try’s again to dissuade Jesse. “I’ve put you and your family through hell.”
“No.” Jesse is firm. “You didn’t. You didn’t hurt me in anyway. Jaden you saved us.”
“Jesse I fused with Yubel. Anything they did to you I’m guilt of to.” Jaden can’t imagine Jesse forgiving Yubel and by extension not forgiving him.
Jesse already knew this fact. Syrus told everyone what happened in the final duel. He’s had months to process his feelings about that. “You’re not guilt of what Yubel did before you fused.”
“But-”
“Would Yubel hurt me now?” Jesse takes the risk of asking.
“No.” The answer is immediate. “Yubel will never hurt you again.” Jaden goes to say more but is cut off.
“Because you would never hurt me.” Jesse finishes with a soft smile. “Jay you’d never hurt me or my family. And while it will take time before I’m full comfortable being around Yubel, I know they won’t hurt me again because you won’t let them.”
“I’d never let anything hurt you.” Jaden wants so badly for someone to trust him. “Yubel wouldn’t either. They’re an extension of me, their not corrupted by the Light of Destruction anymore. They won’t hurt anyone I care about.”
“I know. If you say Yubel isn’t dangerous anymore than I trust you. And in time I’ll trust them. Because they are a part of you.” Jesse is so gentle about it. He’s had months to work through his feelings of hurt and a little betrayal at Jaden fusing with Yubel. Now he understands, at least vaguely, why Jaden did it. He can’t be mad at Jaden for saving someone he cared about.
“How can you still trust me. After everything that’s happened.” Jaden doesn’t understand because he feels like he’s betrayed everyone.
“Because I love you.” Jesse says it easily. He had expected this moment to feel grand and earth shattering. To finally admit how he feels. But it’s as easy as breathing and as casual as the weather. He loves Jaden. It’s a fact. Just like saying the sky is blue.
Jaden’s world is rocked. He loves Jesse too. He just didn’t think that Jesse could love him anymore, not after everything.
“You don’t have to say it back. And it’s okay if you don’t feel the same. But I wanted you to know. I trust you because I love you. I think I always have and I know I always will.”
“Jesse.” Jaden cuts him off by laying his hands on his shoulders. “I love you too.” The two look at each other with the stupidest gins on their faces. “Can I kiss you?”
“On one condition.” Jesse says as he raises his own hands to cradle Jaden’s cheeks.
“Name it.” Jaden would give Jesse the world if he asked for it.
“Let me stay with you.”
From then on the two are together, both as traveling companions and as a couple.
There is still a long ways to go. Jesse still flinches the first few times Yubel appears. The Crystal Beasts coming out in force to stand between them and Jesse. Over time their relationship gets better.
Jaden and Jesse have to talk through it. Jesse doesn’t flinch because he’s scared Yubel will hurt them now. But he is heavily traumatized. Yubel ripped his soul from his body. That was painful and horrific. Logically he knows they were corrupted at the time and now they’re not only Jaden’s defender but his as well. But trauma isn’t logical.
Yubel for their part doesn’t dislike Jesse anymore. He is good for Jaden and therefor good in Yubel’s book. And just like one cannot love Jaden without loving Yubel. There is no way for Jaden to love someone without Yubel loving them to. It’s not romantic. But there is mutual respect and in time fondness. Yubel would never let anyone hurt Jesse or his family, partially because they know how hard Jaden will crash out and partially because of the guilt they feel for their own actions towards Jesse.
Jesse’s, love, loyalty, and devotion definitely work wonders for Jaden. He now has a physical reminder that people still love and trust him. That people can accept Yubel and him even after all they’ve done. Jesse was the most injured party in the whole event and his forgiveness means a lot. Even though to Jesse there is nothing for him to forgive when it comes to Jaden.
Jesse is also able to bully Jaden into talking to Yugi more. Jaden is opening up to Jesse about his feeling and the situation with Seto. In turn Jesse is trying to help Yugi explain to Jaden that his parents still love him.
And it’s probably Jesse who convinces Jaden to visit Japan for the first time since he left so that they can see his family. (Probable before the tournament arc)
Now will Jesse maybe chose violence with Seto? Who knows. Seto’s been making Jaden feel like he’s a monster and Jesse’s only getting Jaden’s side. I can see him and Seto getting into a verbal match and maybe duel over the miscommunication. Jesse not understanding how Seto can keep making Jaden feel like a monster. Seto not understanding how, of all people, Jesse isn’t pro-getting-rid-of-Yubel.
They have it out in a duel where Jesse figures out Seto’s just being an over protective dad. And Seto figures out that all of his scheming has just hurting Jaden. All of his plans to make sure Yubel couldn’t hurt them were plans that to Jaden, made him an enemy of the family.
This most likely happens when Jaden’s out of the house. Jesse planned it. Dropping hints to Yugi that he should take Jaden out and reconnect. And telling his boyfriend it would be good for him and his dad. The two are having a lovely time getting burgers and fried shrimp and walking around Domino reminiscing about Jaden childhood and having conversations about Yubel.
Meanwhile: Seto and Jesse are screaming at each other across a dueling field.
“Yubel’s dangerous they could hurt Jaden. How can you not understand that? And you claim you love him.”
“Yubel is part of Jaden! I don’t like it anymore than you do. But they are fused. It was Jaden’s choice and I’m not going to stand here and disrespect him.”
“You’re a fool if you think we can trust that thing.”
“You do realize you’re talking about your son? Everytime you talk about not trusting Yubel your talking about Jaden to.”
“You don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“You’re right. I’ve only traveled with them for months how would I know anything about their relationship. Unlike you who has barely talked to your son the whole time we’ve been dating.”
Needless to say, Jaden and Yugi come home to an apologetic Seto. He’s starting to come to terms with the fusion. He at least realizes where his and Jaden’s relationship was damaged and wants to fix that.
This means the world to Jaden. He and his Oto-San have a nice long talk together.
But it doesn’t escape his notice that his boyfriend is a little disheveled and has some scorch marks on his shirt. (Blue eyes was not playing) Nor does it escape that Seto, for all his put togetherness, is just as disheveled and there are definitely claw marks on his shirt sleeves from over sized cats.
Yugi high fives Jesse later while the other two are talking and asks where they dueled. He’s pulling the security tape. He has to see that fight. (Jaden gets to watch it to…later)
After the duel is also when Seto starts to respect Jesse as Jaden’s partner. (I won’t say who won. You can decided that for yourself)
But ya. Jesse is defiantly the thing that snaps Jaden out of his spiral. And then through gentle love and understanding helps Jaden heal until he’s ready to talk to his parents. Jesse’s really doing wonders for this family.

Yugi, holding Millennium Puzzle: My friend's in here! I need you to get it working again! I don't care what experimental, morally questionable magic you use, just do it!
Ishizu: I could try a car battery.
Yugi: Don't talk to me about your dark arts, just bring him back!

yandere seto is so easy to think up situations for but yandere yugi is a little tougher if only because seto will know about yugi's more weird actions so quickly, like the man has a security team around him all the time and probably has cameras every where he works or sleeps so if yugi even attempts to break into his bedroom or scare his assistant off, then seto finds out about it easily
he'd definitely be so intrigued at first though i think, because why would perfect little yugi be doing stuff like this? and then if he finds out its all because he's the object of yugi's affections? well a) it definitely flusters him like a schoolgirl with a crush and b) he is definitely going to encourage it more, because being able to affect yugi mutou so much that he's willing to drop his sweet goody two shoes act for him is a better thrill than even dueling

Everyone's always talking about Yugi's name meaning "game" but not enough of you mention that Sugoroku is a literal game in japan. Sugoroku literally means "double six" and there are two types of boardgames that it refers to: the first is ban-sugoroku [board-sugoroku] which is similar to backgammon but has different aims and rules and then e-sugoroku [or picture-sugoroku] which is closest to snakes and ladders but really is just any picture painted boardgame and can be traced back to at least the 13th century with the former believed to have come to Japan from China sometime in the 6th century
An extra funny tidbit: ban-sugoroku was made illegal several times in Japan's history because it made for an ideal gambling game given its simple and luck-based nature. Ban-sugoroku eventually faded out in the Edo era when it was overtaken by Chō-Han and these days "Sugoroku" tends to almost always refer to e-sugoroku and there have been thousands of variations on it over the years, with pictures and themes ranging from religion to actors to adult material! There are even a bunch of video games based on it, including one for YuGiOh itself from 2004 called "Destiny Board Traveler" in the west and simply "Sugoroku's Board Game" in Japan
So yeah Yugi's name translating to "game" isn't all that surprising when his grandfather is literally named after two different board games himself. We don't know what Yugi's parents' names are but it would not fucking surprise me if this was a family trait and the Mutou's were just all named after different games and game genre's
