Three times someone catches a glimpse of Magnus’ and Alecs happiness

NOTE: This one took me a long time.... I hope you enjoy it :-)

The first time it was Catarina. She was visiting Magnus on an evening, trying to catch up after not seeing each other for a while. She couldn’t help but notice how relaxed Magnus was. His smile was so prominent these days, something that wasn’t always usual for him. She had known Magnus for such a long time. And being more than 400 years old brought a lot of ups and downs with it. A knock on the door brought them both out of their moment of reminiscing and Magnus excused himself while he went to go and get it. Cat couldn’t help herself to not catch a glimpse of Magnus welcoming Alec into his apartment. It felt like betraying their privacy, but it somehow made her so at ease to see how utterly happy they were to see each other. She couldn’t understand the things they were saying, but the way Alec kissed Magnus afterwards and Magnus pulling him a bit closer by his shirt, felt like such a sincere and happy moment, she couldn’t help but smile with them. ‘Oh, hey Cat.’ Alec greeted her, after walking himself into the living room followed by a content Magnus. ‘I’m going to cook tonight. Care to join for dinner? I make the best beef stew.’ He was already unpacking the stuff he bought at the store. ‘It’s at your own risk.’ Magnus winked at her before sitting himself down again, immediately followed by a voice coming from the kitchen. ‘I heard that!’ And while Magnus replied with ‘I’m always here to help, love!’, Catarina was more than honoured to spend this evening with these two men.

The second time it was Jace. He was having a meeting with Alec in his office. Alec seemingly was not in a good mood. Earlier that day there were some problems in the institute with some shadowhunters who still were not too fond of Alec being the new head. There were also some complications during a couple of missions, leaving Alec in a very stressed and frustrated mood. ‘I won’t be able to go on that mission with you and Izzy.’ He sighs, brows furrowed. ‘I just can’t keep up with the work like this if people keep fucking things up.’ It was sad to hear how he had to cancel the one thing he loved most, but Jace knew he couldn’t be any help for Alec when it came to being the head of the institute. And then, suddenly, a knock on the door makes Alec look up and when Magnus walks in it’s like the whole mood of the room changes. ‘Jace.’ Magnus greets him with a smiley nod, moving his gaze to the man who’s eyes seem to spark whenever the warlock enters a room. ‘Alexander.’ And while he pronounces his name, Alec stands up to answer his greeting with a soft, sweet and gentle peck on Magnus’ lips. ‘Forgive me if I overheard your conversation just now.’ Magnus quickly announces, when he sits himself down in another armchair, not losing the connection with Alecs eyes. ‘You go on that mission, Alec. Tell me whatever I can do.’ He adds, making Alec softly shake his head at his words. ‘Magnus, no… You don’t have to-’. But before Alec can finish, Magnus already interrupts again. ‘We both know you trust me with this work. I helped you before. So you tell me what to do and you go on that mission, because if you replace yourself by someone else god knows it’s another case you need to fix later. It’s not up for discussion.’ And with his last words, Magnus got himself a deal. And somehow it warmed Jaces heart to know they had each other’s back like this. ‘I owe you a big one.’ Alec kisses Magnus fully on his lips now, ignoring the fact that Jace is still in the room. Magnus smirks before he gives his own condition. ‘You owe me to come back in one piece, Alexander.’ And it’s in that moment, just before Alec and Jace take off, Magnus gaze slightly shifts at Jace, just to let him know how important that condition is to him.

The third time it was Izzy. ‘You really love him, don’t you?’ She asked Magnus in the kitchen during a family dinner. The question had been aching to get out, although it wasn’t really a question anymore. She knew it. She knew Magnus was just as in love with her brother as Alec was with him. ‘That’s not a question, love.’ Magnus smiles while tasting a bit of Alec’s beef stew, followed by a surprised look that it was actually kind of okay this time. ‘It’s a statement. I don’t even need to answer it anymore because you know I do.’ Izzy leaned herself against the kitchen counter, keeping the door in her vision, making sure Alec was not about to enter. ‘It’s just… Alec has such a fragile heart, Magnus. He looks all tough and stuff, but the last time the two of you broke up, he was just not okay. I don’t think I can handle him heartbroken again.’ Her words made Magnus’ smile disappear from his expression. ‘I’m not planning on letting him go, Izzy. He’s more important to me than any other person in this w-’. ‘MAGNUS, you were not allowed in the kitchen!’ Alec frantically enters the room, leaving Magnus’ unspoken words in the air. But Izzy knew what he meant and she confirmed it by a short nod towards the warlock. ‘Izzy, please tell me he did not touch the stew.’ Alec immediately moved himself towards the stove and took the spoon from Magnus to taste his own cooking. ‘Love, you outdid yourself. I couldn’t have made it any better.’ Magnus arms wrapped around Alecs waist when he gave him a peck on his cheek. ‘I can confirm.’ Izzy added, smiling at the two in front of her. The way Alec side eyed at Magnus before he turned himself in Magnus’ arms, made Izzy silently leaving the both of them in their moment. ‘I love you.’ She heard Alec whisper. And when she turned around one last time, she caught Magnus’ wink, leaving her heart at ease. These two were happy. And that’s everything she wanted to know.

Jace’s Mental Health

One thing about 3x07 that I forgot to mention.

I haaaaated that they brushed off Jace’s mental health, like they do everything with him... Just because he is possessed and not actually psychotic doesn’t mean that he doesn’t need help with his mental health and that he’s not struggling with certain issues. 

Jace is a person that has been abused as a child, both physically and emotionally and his abuser even killed him, he was stabbed to death by a person who raised him. That same person abused him again when he was adult and forced him into doing things that he didn’t want to.

Jace was also sexually assaulted by Lilith, because that’s what that kiss was.. He is also suicidal and he tried to end his life twice before and it seems like he want to die again in 3x08. He was forced to kill his grandmother... All of this leaves emotional scars.

Jace Wayland/Lightwood/Herondale deserves so much better, his story should be told and his suffering should be addressed. Imagine what it’s like for people who went through some of the things he’s going through when they see how easily they brush off his suffering. Do better Shadowhunters.
