I love working with Matt and Harry because they are so fearless as actors and always welcoming to me as a director. They are both aware of the importance of Magnus and Alec’s relationship to the Shadowhunters fanbase and to the world beyond. […] My fondest memory is when we rehearsed the hug scene in 3x07, Harry pressed his head against Matt’s and it broke my heart. We shot Harry’s side of the hug first and I reminded him during the takes of that beautiful gesture. When we shot Matt’s side of the hug, I encouraged him to take the lead from Harry and lean in to Magnus’ cheek. They both agreed with me that it was a lovely Malec moment and solidified the characters’ apologies to one another.

unpopular opinion: I understand why lorenzo rei didn't want to help jace. i think he was right about his decision. warlocks don't have to follow personnal orders from shadowhunters.

Why, you’ve come to the right blog. Here we support Lorenzo’s decision of not helping to free Jace from a character point of view. He did nothing wrong. Well, partially. He did lie and made Alec believe he’d help. That’s not nice.

But Alec also lied. Alec tried to pass saving Jace as a way to get to Lilith.

Alec: Lilith has taken a Lieutenant using some form of mind-control. A Shadowhunter. Our goal is to break him free so he can tell us everything about her plans, her location, her weaknesses. (…)

Episode 309: Familia Ante Omnia

That’s a lie. It could be that freeing Jace will lead to that, but Alec and Magnus are, first and foremost, worried about Jace’s safety. Which is not something that Lorenzo has any moral obligation to help with. And he knows it.

Magnus: A Queen of Hell is loose. We’re trying to save lives.

Lorenzo: Please. You’re trying to save Jace Herondale. I know Alec’s Parabatai is the one under Lilith’s control. (…)

Magnus: It’s true. Alec has a personal stake in this fight. If Jace dies, a part of Alec dies too.

Lorenzo: That’s not my problem.

Episode 309: Familia Ante Omnia

We can discuss the fact that Lorenzo refuses to face that Lilith is a threat to the Warlocks as much as to everyone else. But freeing Jace isn’t necessarily the best plan to deal with her. 

In fact, the Shadowhunters themselves wouldn’t have taken that risk. Alec knew that the standard procedure in case of this sort of possession is killing the recipient.

Clary: Jace has been compromised by the greater demon Lilith. She’s controlling his every move.

Episode 307: Salt in the Wound

So, Lorenzo was under no moral or professional obligation to help Alec or Magnus to free Jace. However, he was somewhat negligent as a High Warlock. Once he learned that Lilith is out there, Lorenzo should have taken precautions to safeguard the Warlocks. There’s no indication that he did.

Author Note: This is just some Clace fluff that my friend @fromfraytofrary challenged me to do with thw prompt “Do you really need all that candy?” Let’s just say finding a use for that phrase in the shadowhunters universe is not easy

Jace’s POV:

“Clary where are you taking me?” Jace said as clary dragged him through the streets of New York. “I know you’re a badass shadowhunter and all but even you should know that you can’t go see a movie without candy.” Clary smiled as she finally stopped in front of Sugarfina. “This looks like a nightmare.” Jace said as he was pulled into the store. Clary raced around the store looking at all of the candy in its colorful packaging. Jace walked around and picked up the only all black box in the store “dark chocolate bourbon gummy bears? Oh I’m getting these. Clary are you…” Jace stopped mid sentence seeing his girlfriend with multiple boxes of candy in her arms. “Do you really need all that candy?” Jace asked giving her a look of amusement. “Yes, i do, we’re meeting Simon, Izzy, Alec and Magnus. Plus, I like candy.” Jace laughed and rolled his eyes and helped Clary with her boxes.

After checking out they made their way over to the park. Everyone was already there and getting out the rest of the snacks. Clary and Jace joined them and began handing out their haul. Clary picked up the box of bourbon gummies and looked at Jace, “I can’t believe that you found the only all black thing in the store and you bought it.” Jace smiled, “Hey, I had to keep with my aesthetic.” Jace set the box down and moved closer to Clary. The sky was getting dark and the movie would be starting soon. Clary curled into Jace, he looked down at her as she popped a gummy bear in her mouth. “Are you happy” Jace asked. “As long as I’m with you, of course I am.” Clary smiled and pulled Jace into a kiss as the movie screen flickered to life.
