Oprah Making Talk Show Rounds

Well Oprah is in New York promoting her movie “The Color Purple”. She is making the talk show rounds. I caught her on “Sherri” where it was jus a love fest. Sherri Shepherd per usual is gaga over Oprah. She considers Oprah a mentor. Most of the show was just loving all over lady “O”. Oprah handed Sherri the talk show baton. Now I love me some Sherri but, she is no talk show queen. Her show is…

resident evil characters but they are dogs and i give zero reasons why i chose those breeds. Also i only mentionned characters i have currently met in the games (im currently playing Code Vero). Might make a part 2 after i'll play RE5.

Steve is an Australian Sheperd (they're actually from America?) Carlos is a Mucuchi :

Tyrell is a Fila Brasileiro :

Billy is a Pitbull (looks mean but a sweetie lol). Rebecca is a Pomeranian (they can be service dog! They’re great as medical alert dog)

Annette is a yellow Australian Sheperd (really smart dog). William is a Golden Retriever. Sherry is an Aussi/Golden retriever mix :

Enrico is a German Wirehaired Pointer (they look like they have a mustache lol) :

Forest is a Bernese Mountain dog. Richard is a Boxer. Edward is a Cane Corso. Brad is a Dalmatien. Joseph is a Doberman Pinscher. Kenneth is a Basenji :

Barry is a Rottweiler. Marvin is a Rottweiller too.

Alfred and Alexia are Pure breed Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. (lol) The Ashford are all Cavaliers.

Spencer is a Bull Mastiff (he looks like one? that's weird. haha dog face). Marcus is a Boykin Spaniel :

Nikolai is a Moscow Water Dog (they're extinct... LIKE HIM >:D ) :

Irons is an Airedale Terrier :

What to do when you are a leafling: Back at base

(yayyyyy another chapter!!! Ummm well next chapter is going to have Bernard being a team dad so I’m excited for that)

Dingo did the rescue corp salute, thankful that his blushing was hidden by the leaves. Shepered walked up to him as he felt his legs shake. Shepered was about put a hand on his shoulder when Jack hugged Sheperd’s leg.

“Argh! Get them off of me!” Sheperd said, shaking the pikmin off of her leg. Jack was sent high into the air and landed onto the ground face first with a squeak.

“Erma! That’s Jack.”

“Jack? You named it?”

“Them. They’re also an honorary member of the corps!”

“Them.” Shepered said, she backed off a little from Jack and stood next to Colin. Jack sat up, their nose was bent out of shape but a quick flick later straightened it out. Jack then walked to the two and squeaked again.

Erma tilted her head and watched as Dingo nodded with some interest.

“You…you can understand them?” Erma said.

“Thank the leaves for that. They’re saying i’m a rescue corp member too!” Dingo smiled. Jack did a little messy version of the rescue corps salute. They pushed up their bandanna and drew out the glowing toothpick.

Sheperd was silent for a moment and chuckled at that, she slowly picked up Jack and petted the pikmin on the stem. “Now aren’t you a feisty little fella?”

Jack nodded and climbed onto Shepherd's shoulder.

There was a sound of the S.S beagle returning, Dingo stepped aside and began to walk around the area around the S.S Shepherd. There was multiple castaways from various planets. Just how many got the captain’s SOS?

“You and ME Collin! we shall do DANDORI!” A deep booming voice went off. It was Bernard but stuck in that dandori obsession. Bernard hugged Collin tightly. He quickly let go and slapped the coms man on the back.

Collin lurched forward a little, feeling as if his headset was about to fall off. “Not now Bernard, I need to make sure Pom is okay, I’ll be on the ship if you need me.” Collin said he walked into the S.S Shepherd and back to the coms.

Bernard raised an eyebrow and yelled “No DANDORI then?!”

“Great! He has an obsession with dandori too!” Shepherd said, bringing Dingo aside. She also looked behind herself. There was a bald man with glasses on. It was Russ, the smartest giyan she's ever known. If Russ could push his glasses up right now he would. 

“Keehee! I think I know why your head is so clear it must be because of the leaf color! Who turned you?” Russ said.

“Um…A Leafling.” Dingo said, nudging back a little while Jack tilted their head.

“So you’re calling them a leafling? Well then, was the leafling also red right? were they too speaking in clear sentences?” Russ chuckled.

“They were. Russ? Can you make something that will let leaflings breathe in the ship’s air?”

“Oh yes! I think I have enough raw materials laying around.” Russ said while walking away on the edge of laughing.

That evening, the S.S. Beagle returned, it spat out Pom, Oatchi and two leaflings, one had leaves that were tipped with ice and the other was Yonny with Sherry by his side. Yonny sat up and did a small laugh. 

“Ah Commander Sheperd, sorry I couldn’t make it in daylight. It seems I have a nasty habit of…vanishing in the daylight. Heheheeee. Now…it’s time to practice some medicine.”

(Finally I get to break out the Russ and Yonny laughs)

Susan Schneider Williams spoke about the disease and how it affected her husband Robin Williams.

The Garden City Hotel was the scene of a sold-out venue on July 20, when friends, family and celebrities came to the David B. Shepard Gala, A Night To Remember. The sellout crowd had the opportunity to bid on hundreds of items including raffles, a silent auction and Live Auction with items generously donated to the cause.

A special guest appearance was actress comedienne Sherri Shepherd, cohost of The View, whose witty repartee opened the dinner.

Often a taboo subject, but a reality for many, Lewy Body Dementia (LBD) is a disease which affects an estimated 1.4 million families in the United States. It is a type of illness that worsens over time.

Dementia is a common term used especially with the aging. Dementia is defined as a chronic or persistent disorder of the mental processes caused by brain disease or injury and marked by memory disorders, personality changes, and impaired reasoning. Lewy Body Dementia is an umbrella term for Parkinson’s disease dementia and dementia with Lewy bodies. Lewy bodies are abnormal aggregates of protein that develop inside nerve cells. They are spherical masses that displace cell components and can be found in the brainstem or the cortex.

A getaway to Bali was just one of the Silent Auction items and hundreds of raffles.

The cause for LBD is unknown. The disease worsens over time. Symptoms may include fluctuations in alertness, visual hallucinations, slowness of movement, trouble walking and rigidity. LBD also affects autonomic body functions, such as blood pressure control, temperature regulation, and bladder and bowel function. Progressively debilitating, LBD can also cause people to experience visual hallucinations or act out their dreams. Excessive movement during sleep and mood changes such as depression are common.

Susan Schneider Williams, the wife of Robin Williams, was on hand to speak passionately about LBD and about “the terrorist inside my husband’s brain.” She is dedicated to spreading awareness of this disease. She currently serves on the board of the directors of the American Brain Foundation. Each guest received a book of poems titled Lewy Body Days, by Joop Bersee, who began writing the poems after he was diagnosed with dementia in February 2017. The fight that is fought with family, caregivers and health care workers is just beginning for him.

“Mr. Bersee speaks from inside a place where the surreal walls of dementia are being reinforced around him. Through his poetic courage, he allows us powerful insight into what it is like to live with this disease,” said Williams.

“There is no cure for this dreaded disease, but the symptoms can be managed,” according to Board Certified Neurology & Neurophysiologic Dr. Olga L. McAbee. The treatment addresses the hallucinations and other symptoms with a pharmaceutical regimen.

The first LBD Gala honored David B. Shepard, founder of David Shepard Associates, Inc., a successful direct marketing and database consulting firm. In 2010, he had to retire because of the disease and the gala was renamed after him.

‘Trial & Error’: una comedia tan absurda como imperfecta

No es de extrañar que viendo Trial & Error, la nueva apuesta de NBC y uno de los estrenos más esperados de la midseason, tengamos la impresión de conocerla de algo. Las referencias a documentales sobre crímenes, como The Jinx o Making a Murderer son tan evidentes que más que guiños son tics nerviosos (sí, de ese presentador que estamos todos pensando). Rodado como un mockumentary o documental paródico, es inevitable encontrar parecidos con dos de los pesos pesados del género como son The Office o Modern Family. Este parecido no es fruto del azar, ya que sus directores, Matt Sohn, Jeffrey Blitz, Ryan Case y Jennifer Celotta han trabajado en estas series.

Cada temporada pretende abordar un caso diferente, y para la primera han elegido el proceso contra Larry Henderson, un poeta acusado de haber matado a su mujer. Henderson, interpretado por el siempre brillante John Lithgow (Dexter, The Crown), es un hombre tirando a peculiar con más de un esqueleto en el armario, lo que hará que su defensa sea casi imposible. No sólo todas las pruebas le señalan como el principal sospechoso, sino que su primera mujer murió en las mismas circunstancias. Pero quién sabe, hay quien cree en las casualidades.

A pesar de la importancia del papel de Lithgow, el peso de la serie recae en Nicholas D’Agosto (Masters of Sex, Gotham) que resuelve con solvencia el rol de abogado inexperto recién llegado al pueblo que dará lo mejor de sí mismo para defender la más que cuestionable inocencia de Larry Henderson. Completan el equipo un cansino y nada gracioso Steven Boyer (High Maintenance), que interpreta a Dwayne, un policía “retirado” que hará las veces de investigador privado y Anne (Sherry Sheperd, 30 Rock), la secretaria que acumula enfermedades raras.

Si bien es cierto que los ataques de risa inapropiados y los desmayos que sufre Anne resultan cómicos, el hecho de que sucedan tan a menudo puede terminar por saturar al espectador. Los chascarrillos se suceden casi sin descanso desde el primer minuto de la serie en un tono que traspasa sin tapujos la frontera de lo absurdo. Podríamos calificarla como una Parks & Recreations de marca blanca, en la que cada personaje tiene unos rasgos y un rol muy bien definidos pero, al contrario de lo que sucediera en Pawnee, aquí el engranaje no es perfecto y las extravagancias de los unos sumadas a las de los otros acaban por ser cargantes. Puede que el problema sea que al impregnarse de tantas series no termine de tener una identidad propia –o al menos no en los dos primeros episodios- o que necesiten avanzar en la historia y dejar de marear la perdiz en torno a un mismo problema.

La falta de originalidad y lo insufrible que son algunos personajes hacen que una serie que podría haber sido un nuevo referente dentro de la comedia absurda y desenfadada, se haya quedado en una comedia predecible salvada -además de por las magníficas interpretaciones- por los chistes sobre judíos y las puyitas hacia las tabacaleras, la pertenencia de armas o la situación laboral de la mujer. Para que la serie se haga más llevadera deberían echar el freno (o directamente suprimir) en las escenas dignas de humor amarillo y apoyarse en la fuerza que tienen los personajes de Larry, Josh y Anne. Hay material para hacer una buena serie, así que quién sabe si puliendo esos pequeños fallos terminamos por encontrarnos un diamante en bruto o si todo queda en un fugaz amor de primavera.
