Hey, lookit this!! My fic The King is Dead just passed 20,000 hits! That's so cool! Back in the fresh release of series 3 of Sherlock, I literally wrote like a maniac for basically three years straight, but never more so than in the months immediately following the series' release. There was just SO much grist for the fixing! The opposite happened after series 4 came out, where I just kind of sat in stunned silence for a week before my muses could even begin to pick their way through the house bomb and start picking up plot threads and shattered characters to start fixing again. But that's not the point here! The King is Dead (aka: Long Live the Queen) was my fourth long, plotty series 3 fix-it, written in March of 2014, so past the first fever. It's taken this one a little while to achieve the same attention as some of my more popular series 3 fix-its (looking at you, Vena Cava!), but the fact that it's been clicked on, at least, 20,000 times is still just mind-boggling. Hello, Ive been googling like crazy for this fic. Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny and Draco are almost finished auror training and they are given their final assignments. Draco is to work on disguises and Harry is supposed to just be his back up. Draco struggles at first but eventually finds he can hold a female transfigured disguise best so their cover is that their dating. They start having sex with Draco as a woman first, then Harry realizes he cares about him.

Rebuilding Rome by SilentAuror might be a good start for anon. It's mostly about John getting over his abusive tendencies (post-S4) through therapy, but it also explores Sherlock dealing with the divided attention (from John) that he's going to have to deal with, now that Rosie is also part of their lives. He deals with it on his own.

Any other work involving Rosie by SilentAuror deals with this topic in a nuanced way, instead of being 100% positive or unnaturally optimistic about it.

I was curious if you or your groupies know of any fic that has Sherlock NOT immediately in love with Rosie? Every parent!lock that I have read with Rosie in it seems to always have Sherlock love becoming a co-parent with John and thinking that Rosie is the smartest, most beautiful, lovable angel baby ever born. She's always portrayed as a mini Sherlock, that usually looks like John and rarely takes after Mary at all.

I had a thought that what if he's NOT absolutely enamored of having a baby, even if she is John's? What if he finds her annoying, and messy, and simply 'too much'? She takes John's attention, and time, and isn't a perfect baby/toddler; she cries all the time, or is colicky, or doesn't like Sherlock either. Or once she's older, she's more like Mary than John? Sneaky, a liar, a troublemaker? A bully, a psychopath, a sadist? How would John and him deal with her?

Nothing against Rosie personally, I generally don't mind her when I'm reading parent!lock. But it would be interesting to see a different point of view of her character, and how it affects Sherlock and John's relationship.

I've had no luck searching for something like this on AO3, maybe I'm not searching properly? "Evil Mary" or "Bad Mary" show up easily, but not so much for Rosie 😂.

Any help out there?

HP rec fest: day 8

@hprecfest Day 8: rec a fic that was recced to you

I couldn't think of anything that fit my pre-2020 theme, so I went though my bookmarks and old LJ to see where I used to get my recs from. I mostly have records of my Drarry days. My Wolfstar past is very hazy and doesn't cover where I found my recs.

When I had my brief Drarry phase in 2011/2012 I made my way through this reclist and this one by shadowfireflame.

And then even earlier, 2005 and onwards, I trusted Lazulus' Drarry taste. I would always find something good to read among silentauror's recs or on Hecate & Sandrine's recsite.

These reclists are a double-edge sword, though. I love seeing all the old, familiar names and look at them with that sepia tinge of fond nostalgia, but then I click on the links and find deleted, deleted, deleted. Some stories are just a quick AO3 search away or the Wayback machine has them, but some are gone for good and only live on in hazy memories.

This is also true for reclists. They lived on Livejournal or private websites that have long since been deleted, but the above should give you a small glimpse into (my) past Drarry fandom.

They need only attend a couple parties arm-in-arm, smile nicely for the paparazzi, and tolerate each other long enough to convince everyone they’re smitten. In return, Draco will keep Potter alive and in one piece. But it isn’t long before Draco realises he might be in over his head, because Potter is ten tonnes of trouble packed into a leather jacket, and seems keen on hurtling himself towards death on the back of a flying motorbike. And that says nothing of Potter’s penchant for fire-breathing beasts and things that bite. Ah well, at least they’ll have some fun while it lasts. After all, Draco always did like a bit of danger.
