Fields of Mistria is a Horror game where you play as The Horror

The game starts pretty normally - the village needs a boost in the economy to recover after a horrible earthquake, so might as well get some farmer to occupy that abandoned plot of land south of the village. Might as well contact the adventurers guild, surely they'll have someone willing to settle down for something less adventurous.

Balor picks up the new farmer at the bridge and brings the newbie to the farm. Eiland shows the farmer around - the two of them find a curious statue of a dragon on that abandoned farm but Eiland doesn't pay it too much attention and never comes to check it again (despite his interest in all old stuff).

And yet, the statue speaks to the new farmer. Teaches the farmer magic. Urges the farmer to remove the seals deep in the mines. Who sealed the dragon is unknown. No one suspects the seals are there for a reason. Clearly, the seals must be removed, since the farmer says so.

Magic, dragons, Witchspeak - all are things of fairy tales after all. There's no way this will have any bad effect on the village.

Surely, the farmer summoning a rain or commanding the plants to grow or conjuring a horse out of thin air is… normal, right? The villagers are quick to comment on the new crops shipped, on the new museum finds. No one says a word about the magic. The horse. The rains. The crops. The dragon.

No one says a word about the farmer being able to tell where any villager is at any given moment. No one says a word when the farmer changes the clothes, the haircut, the hair colour, the skin colour in just a second. The farmer always looked like this of course. No one notices when the farmer's name changes. The farmer's name was always Ȧ̷͎̟͉̓͌̄̌͘r̷̘̠̙̪̤͔̥̥̀̿ī̴̭̗̯̜̺̂̈́, was it not?

Surely, it is fine to have the s̷h̸a̴p̵e̸s̶h̵i̷f̵t̸i̷n̸g̸ ̴m̸e̸m̴o̸r̶y̴-̵m̶o̴d̴i̶f̷y̵i̸n̵g̶ ̸m̵a̸g̷i̶c̵-̴c̵a̵s̴t̴i̶n̷g̸ ̷e̶n̵t̵i̶t̵y̶ in your village.

It helps the village to recover after the earthquake, after all.

The earthquake that opened the seals that hold the dragon down.

The seals that Ȧ̷͎̟͉̓͌̄̌͘r̷̘̠̙̪̤͔̥̥̀̿ī̴̭̗̯̜̺̂̈́ is trying to remove.

ui is an interesting character to me because they have so little canon characterization, so theres tons of different ways they can be interpreted. what i know for sure is that they have some sort of emotional investment in whats happening to 5p, which opens up a myriad of possibilities for their personality and thought processes. did they know 5p prior? are they morbidly curious and attracted to disaster or concerned on a personal level? why did they find it acceptable to publicize pictures of 5p's rot? i like to lean more in the direction of a shortsighted but well meaning ui, mostly because it fits into rain worlds lack of outright villanistic figures, and puts ui in the same boat as srs of trying to good and having it go very wrong. also, i feel like good-natured ui doesnt get as much representation despite being as equal a possibility as malicious ui. in the end though theres tons of different possibilities for their character that fill their role in the story and i love to see all the interpretations

Cannot stand the new Mobile Discord UI, actually. Like. Why? Just why? I liked that it reflected Desktop, it was simple to understand and use and all the information I needed (locations of unread messages) were all in one spot instead of split up by buttons on a hot bar.

Also that DMs tab is fucking trash, dude, that triggers every part of my ADHD so bad, why does it look like a screen of emails what is WRONG with you people?

And why is the settings button so stupidly difficult to find? Like it should not be that small and take that many steps to get to. What the fuck?

I've already used a process to rollback to an older version of the app but like why can't there just be a toggle? Why can't we let apps be unique and have unique interfaces instead of trying to make them all work the fucking same? I use Discord because it ISN'T Amino or Instagram or Google Hangouts or Skype or Steam or anything like them! That's the point! That's the fucking point!

so i've got stuck on something simple and it's driving me insane

i'm creating a calendar to slot to the sides of the fridge in my kitchen set. and i really wanted it to be useful, not just random clutter, so i decided i was going to make it functional and have it bring up the real in-game calendar. cute lil idea, should be easy, yeah?

my god it is not easy

i can bring up the notebook and phone ui... every icon but the one i want. i have no idea what the command to bring up the calendar could be, and i've tried SO many

i was so determined to get it working i even ventured into python for the first time to look through the game files. for hours on end i've searched 'calendar' and 'event' and 'ui' and 'holiday' and 'dialog' and everything else i could think of, but none of the commands i try do anything

like who was i even kidding installing PyCharm 😭 over here breaking out in a sweat watching 'absolute beginner!! a baby could code this!!!' tutorials

anyway, i never get any responses posting in the Sims 4 Studio forum, but if any modders see this post 1) i apologize for being a novice on main and 2) i would be eternally grateful for your help, or even just a nudge in the right direction. the file is here and right now the interaction opens the phone

it grinds my gears to give up on an idea, but i've wasted an embarrassing amount of time messing with this. so for now, defeated, i'm going back to my microwave 😔
