okay here are my thoughts about genshin at the moment. i have been not making this post for a little bit because it. pisses me off.

I don't know what the fuck they think they're doing with these characters. HONESTLY. yes the state of them was getting worse gradually. it doesn't take a genius to figure out that when part of a character's draw is how strong they are, in order to get people to buy more and more characters, they have to get stronger and stronger.

but what felt before like a gradual incline turned into a fucking cliffside when natlan dropped and mualani was released at a similar power level to neuvillette (who had just just just powercrept every other hydro dps) WITHOUT the same investment or supports he needed.

The problem I think really is not the character kits themselves. It's not that they're out of ideas. It's just that the multipliers are fucking crazy. and to be frank!! I don't think i've seen one person who is happy with the direction things seem to be going.

i can't deny that there are a lot of good older characters and i wouldn't try to. I am. and perhaps will forever be. a fischl main. (all things considered a very lucky main pick. i considered xinyan) But i am annoyed by ccs who will try to tell you that international is still perfectly abyss viable. like girl. go play international then. go play kokomi taser. go play morgana.

content that should be designed to be challenging mechanically is NOT because it's way easier and more profitable to create a situation where the game looks you dead in the face and goes. drop 2000$ for c2 mauvika and citlali and just kill the enemies before they 1-shot you. otherwise enjoy the next half hour of restarting the chamber.

the fact that they changed the rules for the chronicled wish to put shenhe on rather than let go of hu tao, especially when they have arlecchino right there to give as many regular reruns as they want, is particularly scummy. especially after over a year of shenhe not having a rerun. incredibly nasty. just a flagrant display of how little they care about the feelings of their players as compared to their bottom line.

They're a business. Whatever. That doesn't make it cool or right.

I love genshin's story. I'm concerned for its direction. I'm concerned for the writing of its characters. Maybe I'm missing something, but Mualani's hydro vision doesn't represent jack shit in terms of a duality of character. Citlali could have been absolutely fascinating but has instead been reduced to a tusundre love interest for the traveller to a degree they didn't even inflict on Ayaka. We're supposed to see playable Skirk soon-ish, which I would love to be excited about but tbh with how they handled citlali (another woman who is hundreds of years old and incredibly powerful) I am preparing myself for disappointment.

WHICH SUCKS! I love genshin! I love it! I think that it started out a good game, and that it could be a good game again. Who knows? Maybe natlan will be the character-release equivalent of inazuma's story quest: kind of bad, but with much better things after it. Maybe they'll finally start running three characters at once. Maybe Childe will come back and I will forget my troubles again. I will quit genshin once it becomes virtually unplayable, or once they start releasing doubles of the same character, whichever comes first.

tldr; natlan powercreep needs to end and i really hope they don't fumble any more characters like they did citlali, but ultimately i still really like genshin and want to know where it is going.

anyway, if you got to the end of this long ass post i would love to know what you think and I would LOVE to talk about genshin i will do it until the sun comes up in the west. please talk to me about genshin

I guess Zhongli really is a catch in the eyes of everyone, and no one really knows Childe. So maybe they wouldn't get what Zhongli sees in Childe. At least not at first. Maybe we'll get to see more of his badass side later on? I'm also curious if he got some powers from Skirk and the Abyss.

Anyway, their relationship is really cute and developing nicely.

as another ask just said, there is sort of like a jessica and roger rabbit situation going on there from the eyes of everyone else. like you said, nobody really knows childe here, so for everyone to consider zhongli liking him (zhongli, legendary thaumaturge, certified gentleman, gorgeous man) is kinda like ????? out of left field hahah

i think if they stop to think about it the folks close to them would kinda get it but still be confused. like- you like childe? ...i mean yeah i guess he's very nice. he's also pretty. and yeah he's very generous and kind. and he cares a lot about the kids and he's very good w them. and he gets along with like everyone if you give him some time- ok yeah i can see it. yeah nevermind i get it.

(i mean i didnt even read anything of the SQ but The scene w childe so idek the main plot of the quest rly either lmao. tho go at ur own risk if u wanna check the dialogue out; its the 2nd quest log but it does hint at the greater story)

TLDR: how i feel abt his appearance in a vaccuum? quite solid despite the briefness, actually. accounting for the way fanon is 100% likely going to be reading into this and turning it into the Lets Infantilize Ajax Even More 2024 championship? conflicted.

in other words; a certified labyrinth warriors moment - theyve expanded on childes character in a very interesting and quite a compelling way and while i Do like the potential in what im seeing from hoyos end theyve also done it so that its going to be misinterpreted to hell and back by fanon so i kinda have an immediate jaded love-hate moment going on JJWJDKJDKJWJDWKJ

its literally just labyrinth warriors flashbacks - that event has some of my ALL TIME favorite insights into who ajax is and how he views the world and himself but when the event came out all everyone cared abt was to warp it into baby boy stuck in scawwy paper boy dungeon dehumanizes himself by calling himself a weapon and doesnt love himself he is such a sad trauma meowkitten 🥺🥺so yeah

bc like lets look at this properly for a bit; okay he went back to fontaine to look for skirk still somewhat injured and waa waa my 286 month infant baby cannot Make decisions like that!!!!!11! which is to say. i am tired of him getting this shit every time.

so it seems that theyre going for the pulcinella-is-shady-about-ajax (and prolly his family) angle for good and like. personally for me as long as the only real source of that claim was scara (a cynical edgelord who doesnt believe in non-exploitative human relationships, mind you) i was rather skeptical towards just instantly drawing that conclusion, but well. with the scene in arles AQ it appears to be sth theyre building towards

i actually really fucking loved that scene bc while theres outsider perspectives (scara obvi; and even arles line for him has that vibe. and ppl still take that shit face value ��💀) and a lot of fandom assuming childes like. completely clueless and naive and ignorant towards the potential risks involved with trusting pulcinella. this is actually a very clever demonstration of quite the opposite? and showcasing how despite his aversion towards schemes and lies hes still intelligent and knows the kind of people hes dealing with when it comes to his fellow harbingers

like. childe has a negative opinion of arle based on what pulcinella has told him about her because at face value many of her deeds are in heavy conflict with his values of loyalty and family. and because he does not have the further context behind her actions and what the HotH under her is really like. Obviously hed hold a very hostile and wary view towards arlecchino

(ESPECIALLY when with all this biased intel hes still going to run into kids from the house!!! and then hes going wtf? these are good kids. what the hell is that knave doing with them??? blink twice if you need help i will start a civil war for yall like thats how he is with kids!!!!)

so YES. pulcinella has given him if not false then at least misleading intel based on the political tension between himself and arlecchino and the wider HotH. and childes taken that at face value! sure! he is close with pulcinella of course he would!

BUT. THEN. he returns to fontaine and seeks arlecchinos help looking for skirk. and observes her behavior and modus operandi for himself as well as the kids. does he go "nah she must be just hiding the crazy evil shit i would never distrust pulcinella" and leave it at that when reality doesnt completely match his expectations?

NO. because when offered the opportunity through the traveler asking about the HotH childe immediately capitalizes on the opportunity to prod for answers and see if pulcinella is lying to him!!!!

and hes so fucking smart with the way he does it too???? i LOVE his intelligence. the entire thing is so simple yet elegant; it Completely relies on his reputation as the kinda gullible harbinger whod Never scheme or hide Anything to indirectly affirm or deny his suspicions. he doesnt Need to Pretend to care about the possibility of arle betraying the kids bc he genuinely does!! and when she pushes back against the accusation he doesnt Need to fake admitting to her that well, actually, its all just rumors so he could be completely wrong. and so on. like he navigates the entire thing so effortlessly. and whats the end result?

childe has Confirmation of pulcinellas possible ulterior motives in action AND that arlecchino is a much more reliable ally than he initially assumed. all the while appearing as just The Straightforward 11th. like obviously id need to hear it voiced first to be sure but in text it v much gives the impression hes almost kinda just. playing up the threats towards arle and being "dumb" on Purpose?? to get the answers he wanted out of arle without appearing like hes fishing for anything particular. and i just hhhhhhhhhhh

i love when he does this so muchhhh!!!!!! 😭😭 he doesnt need to become some machiavellian schemer to be able to strategize !!!!!! he avoids scheming bc he Dislikes it not bc hes incapable of it like this has Always been the case Since Liyue AQ and i love whenever they show that side of himm . my Beloved

so anyway. while i do still think the like "pulcinella is bad and has his family hostage" is still kind of a generic plotline and i hope the writing regarding the whole thing wont ultimately turn out to be sth That simplified and black and white. its p clear theyre doing Something with pulcinellas motivations and as they are. im Really glad theyre letting it show that childes not just some completely passive party being manipulated in this all. he Is thinking abt this stuff and his position among the harbingers. ig we shall see where it goes - not the greatest fan of the concept still, but canon text supports it becoming a thing way more than when it was just scaras word we had for it. hope theyll surprise me positively w how they go about it!

also loved arle and childe just shittalking the rest of the harbingers it was amazing. i wasnt expecting this kinda dynamic between them at all but its great lmao. also i wanna see childe hang out w the HotH kids

as for project stuzha; so we dont really get anything solid on it other than being summoned back to snezhnaya for it is apparently a Big Deal. but still very interested. let my man have his endgame significance Trust

childes appearance was obviously v brief ultimately but that was clear from his leaked linecount to begin with - i am pretty satisfied with what they seem to have done w him. like its not The Best but also i wasnt expecting his lore to get some massive expansion in another harbingers SQ . the worst i feared was that it was just going to be a flashback of arle returning his vision which did Not happen so massive W. i am super hyped to hear this scene voice acted proper and happy to see him again, i really hope he gets to appear at least once more in an interlude or dains quest or something before going on hiatus again but idk if thats too much to ask LKKWJDJWDJWD

So there's been a lot of discourse over Skirk's design and I thought I'd talk about it because honestly I'm sick of hoyoverse's female character designs.

So my first issue is the skin? The hair? Are you seriously fighting monsters on the daily (and yeah this also applies to other genshin characters who fight a lot) and not at least tying your hair up? A bun would've suited her situation, even a messy one would actually serve her background.

And if course, for a fighter, that much bare skin showing? And why does it look like she's wearing boob armour? I understand wanting to appeal to fans but seriously? Having a skilled swordswoman who is hundreds of years old wear a glorified bikini? I actually do like the hairpiece and the flowing bits, but at least let her wear some kind of shirt that suits her living environment. Also the fact that she's probably wearing either a skirt or short shorts is really bothering me.

I've seen so many fanon Skirk designs that were incredible, but this just really disappoints me. I feel they took Jing Liu and put her in genshin. For a Honkai character maybe this design would work (even though i would still dislike it given her situation) but not for a genshin character.

Sometimes Hoyo female designs are phenomenal for the character (Jean, Navia, Serval, Lynx) but other times they're absolutely godawful. Hope you enjoyed my little rant.

omg the amount of food i've been given with all of this... you guys have me frothing at the mouth with the bird au especially i've always been a sucker for emphasizing ayaka's bird connections in particular so this just scratches my brain in a really good way. also different vision types hello?!?! thank you so so much for sharing all of this with me. i'll probably end up reading through all of the fic stuff itself in my spare time in the near future!!! :"") to keep this from getting too much longer on the dash im gonna pop this all under a read more!

it's so funny because the more you describe your hcs for them and scenarios and aus you've crafted they all line up very well with thoughts i've had about them! a commonality i have with a lot of my ayaka ships are like, a desire to fulfill her wishes like those outlined in her character story 5--someone who would have the ability to see her as herself, someone who isn't all too formal with her. and especially, someone who can tell her a story or two, so someone like childe fits well in that regard. with his abundance of travel and social experience he'd probably pique her interest as someone with all sorts of interesting things to share with her, but i could also generally see herself being innately drawn to those who offer a bit of unpredictability to her life.

i love love love an ayaka interaction where she knows more than she seems cuz that's literally like. exactly how things were in the aq LMAO. part of it is obviously due to her high government status but it's also a big part of her to observe her people and monitor for anything potentially suspicious (or helpful!) showing up on narukami and i think a harbinger showing up would fit the bill there. we could also go into how wild it is that the kamisato family has a whole like, association of loyal spy/assassins under their care that could be considered suspicious in itself but i think that'd be another line of intel as well. MY POINT BEING most of my own interpretations of their meetings are rarely a total strangers, sidetracked situation, though i totally subscribe to any antics with childe being floored by ayaka's princess status or combat ability. YUM

i have..... so many thoughts about ayaka and the interaction of inazuman and other cultures through her. i could go on forever in theat regard for scarayaka especially but for chiyaka i see it being a very intimate and domestic angle of mutually showing each other the traditions and objects of their homelands. they're both characters who are very tied to their nations even barring their statuses, both characters known to get along well with all kinds of people, and i think that'd all play in well for their families to end up blending in different ways. i adore your thoughts on childe and ayato's potential dynamics from both this and your other posts. they'd definitely bond in really weird ways but also clash in about just about every other regard. them shaking hands on their protectiveness and care for ayaka.

THE ANGST i feel like they're both great for a little sentimental long distance pining!!

also to ur friend i literally adore every though on like, childe in love as childe as just a normal young man from a little home in snezhnaya with a crush because in the same way AYAKA is getting the chance to feel like a normal young woman with a crush. no more sneaking off to read cheesy yae publishing house romance novels in the privacy of her own room, she's getting to live as a regular person with girlish fantasies of dates and sneaking kisses and rebellion and i am just... so so weak for that kind of finding authenticity through each other kinda shit.

also if you're seriously interested in my scarayaka ramblings you are more than free to ask for them because i have way more than even this FJDSAKLFJFDLSA lyneyaka is probably my more vague ayaka rarepair conceptually so i don't have too much for them, but i can definitely return your generous chyk offerings with my scryk.

HELLO!! first off, sorry for such a late response; i've been out of town for a few weeks. i really appreciate you reaching out though, as i love discussing ship stuff!!

honestly it started just because i have a problem with constantly shipping ayaka with various fatui LMFAO (stares at my scarayaka and lyneyaka art nervously) but i do think they could have a very fun dynamic! tartaglia is a very Respects Strong Women kind of guy and ayaka would be no exception, albeit her combat experience pales in comparison to those whose main line of work is in fighting. i feel like the obvious idea would be them meeting for diplomatic purposes, but i also think it would be fun if they just kinda met each other out in the wild, whether they know about each other's respective roles and titles at first or not. i think they'd equally spoil each other. ayaka is big on gift giving and would definitely express her affection through those sort of hints at first. i also have had thoughts about their respective thoughts on family? ayaka and ayato being the remaining members of their clan obviously makes them very close and worrisome about one another, and childe's sort of sheltering of his siblings might remind her of how ayato had been with her for a while. crying and sobbing thinking of ayaka pulling out her long since stored away childhood temari to teach teucer how to play, introducing his little siblings to various inazuman games and events like festivals. also, i enjoy the contrast between ayaka's more cautious and closed-off approach to live vs childe's seemingly impulsive nature. he'd be a bad influence on her in a fun way lmao

there's also obviously the angst potential. c'mon. harbinger and a government official/practically princess from two countries with rocky relations? childe is totally ayaka's 'sneak away at night, steal kisses in chinju forest away from their respective duties' bf. they'd be the types to fall for each other but barely see each other, as ayaka remains pretty stationary in her work for the yashiro commission and childe is always traveller for one mission or another.

these are all TOTALLY VAGUE and as you can tell i haven't actually ever hashed this stuff out, but i'd love love love to hear your own thoughts on them!! it's always so nice to see anyone who shares any of my rarepairs :"")

Genshin brainrot is lowering so bare with me while it dies out. 

CW//limb loss, beheading, deshumanization, emotional whump.

So we don´t know about what happened to Childe in those three months he was away in the abyss, but what we know about him coming back is even such a big mystery. Like, mister, you fell into the fucking abyss, how the fuck did you get out? Climbed out???

So, the only thing my brain could come up with is Scara. It could´ve been skirk, but for the sake of this hc let´s say it was Scara. 

Can you imagine that? 

You go to the abyss in order to investigate. The next week you go you smell of blood and following the stench leads to a kid who looks thin but strong, a blade of water quick on his hands and then on your throat. 

The boy is so scared everything is a monster, so he doesn´t hesitate to slit your throat. Pity, you´re not able to bleed at all even if your head hangs from your neck. 

One scream, one hit and the kid is unconscious. The hell just happened? 

When he orders someone to carry the boy out, he notices something. The boy´s pocket gleams with blue light that flickers as he tries to touch it. So even in that kind of place the archons will still only look and do nothing about the situation of those they rule over? Disgusting. 

Scara heads out after finding out the kid killed quite a few monsters, so their guts and claws is all he takes back to the doctor. He barely spares a look as soldiers drag the boy out, he´s busy keeping his head in place after all. 

However, he wants to make him pay for it, so he takes him to the fatui HQ and once his head is back on place he goes back to his room. He wants to poke into his wounds, twist his guts a bit. The doctor is there anyways, he will fix him. 

But when he enters, he finds him fighting his restraints while a soldier is bawling at the loss of a limb. 

Scara can´t help the surprise in his face. 

He can´t not look at the boy in front  of him anymore. So deeply terrified his eyes has lost their shine, he screams, but does he even notice? Is he even aware enough he´s not surrounded by monsters anymore? 

Probably not, as the Rooster himself stops his water blades by freezing them. The biting ice into his skin pulls back some sense into his head, Scara guesses as he watches him twist around like a worm in between hisses. 

Scara watches from the back as the Rooster slowly calms the boy. Watches him slowly become aware he´s not in the abyss. He would have to be aware and calm to understand he wasn´t safe despite The Rooster´s words making tears come to his eyes.

He turns on his heels then. Maybe it´s mercy, but he tells himself he has lost interest in making him pay for his stupidity later. 

The cringe he feels when he sees him kneeling at the end of the line of the soldiers entrusted to him for the next mission is excruciating enough. Why would he, what does he think- He´s not in his right mind to come directly to his tent at night to talk. 

A simple fatui footsoldier. How dare. 

He makes sure his words cut enough like the line of knives laid in front of him. Without a vision, without powers as the vessel to a heart and abandoned by everyone, learning to fight was a necessity. 

Still, that the boy is looking so attentively at him as he cleans them, taking every hurting word as if it was a gift, what was wrong with him?

He just smiles and excuses himself when he finishes his report, kicking around the bush when Scara questions if he has anything else to say to him. Still, he lets him go. Being thanked for saving him when he ended up a fatui was nothing to be grateful about. 

Scara still finds himself watching that boy grow in the frontline. Every now and then, assigned to missions together. So from one footsoldier that got into too many fights for his own good, he became a debt collector. Even when that redhaired guy came after fatui camps, he stood his ground well enough to chase the intruder away covered in fatal wounds.

Once intel got word the intruder was the Ragvindir heir himself, and he was alive, not killing him earned him a punishment. But being him, he took it gracefully, using the chance to train more and more.

Scara would watch him training sometimes. That boy´s fighting style was harsh, rushed and hasty. Nothing like the elemnent he was granted to manipulate. Still, his strive for excellence showed in his movements. 

A survivor that honed himself a warrior. No, it was more like iron, hammered down on infernal heat until it was ready to start polishing it into a sharp blade. 

With those lifeless eyes of his, who was really the inhuman thing here?

Maybe that was why that family he loved so much had given him away to the fatui. He had changed too much according to the intel he had gathered on him. From a peaceful, almost introverted child, he had become an aggressive troublemaker with a cute face. 

Even if the only thing he talked about was his family, that family had abandoned him. Couldn´t he at least show a little anger about that betrayal? 

The boy himself had looked away, reflecting on the question his superior had asked of him after a report. 

“What do you care?” was written all over his face, even if he put on a smile to tell him he had a little brother and a little sister that still looked up to him as the strong, reliable older brother. They didn´t know yet what kind of monster he had turned into. 

Ajax told him his desire to keep that childish dream of a heroic brother. It was alright if he laughed at him, he didn´t care. He would defend that childish dream with his life. As a weapon, he could fight to protect that much, didn´t he?

The puppet kept watching him then, looking for the moment he would give up, but for once in a long time, a human had been honest and honorable enough to keep up his word. 

With such fragile mentality, he had climbed all the way from the bottom of the ladder. 

At one point, he wondered what would it be like to fight such a warrior that had been consistently promoted, learning from each fight he got himself into. What kind of blade would a weapon like him wield?

 Many years after he found him in the abyss, terrified out of his mind enough to actually half-chop his head off, both of them would cross blades. 

The boy´s...Ajax´s sword technique was magnificent, as well as his use of the spear. But even if he had gotten strong, he still couldn´t cut his neck like the first time. Maybe he didn´t want to as, at one point, the boy pointed the tip of his weapon at him and yet, allowed himself to be kicked down and pinned to the floor to have a blade against his neck. 

A single drop of blood rolled down his neck as Scara watched him lift his hands in surrender. 

“If I wasn´t still some kind of human, I would let you slice it. But until I have ruled the world, I need my neck” he said so lightly, Scara couldn´t hold his laughter as he lifted himself, holding tight the wound on his abdomen. 

“Please, have a battle with me when that happens” the man said, panting in between breaths as he stood. 

“Deal” 

Even Ajax was amazed by his answer. He was even more surprised to watch Scaramouche touch his neck with one cold finger. 

“Whether you give up or you actually defy everything and make it...Until then, this is mine. Don´t let anybody touch it” 

Ajax smiled brightly and for one second the shine came back to his eyes. Even if one second later he wavered on his feet and fell into the puppet´s arms. 

He knew the man in his arms would be selected as the 11th harbinger soon. Testing his strength to inform the Jester had been a lot more enjoyable than he imagined. He had also learned Ajax´s sword was loyal. Sharp for the sake of a few select people. A blade that sharp, even if it cut deep, it would be clean and over in a second. But there was no need to worry about such Ajax betraying him. 

Along the lunatics among the fatui he had to call coworkers, this ginger he had picked up by accident was by far the only one he enjoyed greeting at the banquets. 

He could say he was the only one he trusted.

They used their power to make their physical forms spirits so they could share a body with Diluc and Childe. You could say it is two souls within one body. That is what being the host of a god is about, they are just conscious of them and can let both gods take over, but if something happens the gods can take over forcefully if it is needed, depends on the situation -🐱

Oh boy. I sort of have a weakness for this kind of troupe. Especially if one soul is rather protective of the other. Even when they have a goal this wish to accomplish through the shared body. That they learn to respect and care for the original owner and even place their safety above their personal goals.

I actually played with the idea of Foul Lecagy being its own persona a while ago. And I had him some trapped and tainted in the Abyss who was kept prisoner by Skirk and then given to Childe to watch after.

The Idea was that Childe and Fould Lecagy both like Diluc. Lmao

Talking about Childe without ridiculous comparisons? Yes please, no-one seems to ever do that.

Personally I find him very interesting as a character, and look forward to his development as the story progresses.

There's also depth to his character that may not be that obvious if you don't think about his story and the little details here and there.

For example the archon quest made him seem like just another villain, and nothing more, but his story quest and character stories showing this new side to him really make things interesting. Other than his huge soft spot for his family, Teucer's comment about how Childe had told them he'd leave his job to travel with us if he could, and his distaste towards the Fatui and their ways that surfaces in his character story and voicelines makes me think that it wouldn't be impossible for him to abandon the Fatui and switch sides at some point. Whose side? That is still a question that is impossible to answer at this point. If the situation in Teyvat escalates in a way that makes it a possibility, then the Traveler, perhaps? Or extending the Traveler idea, the other six nations? If the chance presents itself, maybe even the Abyss?

Or maybe something stirs up things among the people of the seven nations, making them turn against their gods in the future?

I could see that happening with Inazuma, because at least in my eyes the situation with Baal seems to be slowly progressing towards something like what Old Mondstadt had going on with Decarabian. If Inazuma in fact did end up with something like that, it may get the people of the other nations thinking. Some would probably get paranoid that maybe it's just a matter of time their own nation ends up in the same situation, which could easily turn into something bigger if the word spread around. Ultimately, a revolution.

I'm going to note here that in the case where something like this did end up happening, I think Mondstadt would just be chilling, minding their business throughout this due to it being a "godless" nation in the first place

Now I feel like the Abyss thing needs an explanation: Childe works for the Tsaritsa mainly because it is a great chance for him to get stronger, aka (one of) his greatest ambition(s), and to satisfy his thirst for combat. Now what would be the perfect organization for something like that? The Abyss Order. Maybe he somehow ends up meeting the Traveler's sibling and learns of their goal to "engulf the tnrones" it may just be enough to get Childe to their side, ya know, the man who wants to overthrow the gods one day? Not to mention he already kind of has relations with the Abyss, and has had dealings with it previously (the whole thing with Skirk, along with his "Interesting Things" line literally beginning with "I once ventured deep into the abyss") considering that, it'll probably be surprisingly easy for him to actually join the Abyss Order, compared to pretty much anyone else.

It is also clear that he does not like it when innocent bystanders get hurt by his actions, and if I've interpreted things correctly, when it comes to fighting, he specifically enjoys the battle itself, perhaps for the adrenaline rush, and his goal is never to kill the opponent unless he is ordered to do so. Even then he does not like the fact that he has to kill a person, but orders are orders.

I got a bit carried away with the speculation and ideas there, sorry about that😅

In any case, Childe is a very interesting character with surprising depth to him, and pretty much anything can happen with him as the main story goes on.
