How Do You Know Which Video Slider Plugin Is Best for You?
1. Define your needs.
The first step is to identify your major objectives for the video slider. Are you seeking a simple way to display a few promotional videos, or do you require a more advanced solution with interactive layers, animations, and integrations?
Stat Check: A HubSpot study found that 75% of people prefer to watch videos than read text. So, if video content is important to your strategy, selecting a plugin with strong video support is vital.
2. Performance & Speed:
Nobody appreciates a slow website. Video sliders can have an impact on load times, particularly if the video files are huge or the plugin is not performance tuned. Make sure the video slider WordPress plugin you choose has the least detrimental influence on the performance of your website.
Stat Check-Google reports that 53% of mobile site visitors abandon pages that take more than 3 seconds to load.
3. Mobile friendliness:
With mobile devices accounting for more than 55% of global internet traffic (source: Statista), you must ensure that your video slider is responsive and mobile-friendly. A video slider WordPress plugin with touch navigation and responsive design ensures that your content is available on all devices.
Stat Check: According to Google, 57% of internet users are unlikely to promote a business with a badly designed mobile website.
Mobile-optimized sliders can increase user engagement by up to 20% (source: Google Analytics).
4. Easy to Use:
If you don't have much technical knowledge or just want to save time, ease of use will be crucial. Some plugins come with drag-and-drop builders, while others may require more technical setup.
5. SEO and optimization:
A video slider WordPress plugin can make your website more visually appealing, but it must also be search engine optimized. Certain plugins incorporate SEO features to guarantee accurate indexing of videos, thereby enhancing your search rankings.
According to Forbes, websites with video content receive 41% more traffic than those without.
6. Customer Support and Updates:
Your experience with a plugin can be significantly impacted by the quality of its customer service. Choosing a video slider WordPress plugin with a robust support system and regular upgrades guarantees that your site functions effectively for the long term.
7. Pricing & Budget:
Finally, take a close look at your budget. Some video slider WordPress plugin for video sliders offer free versions with limited functionality, while others require a one-time fee or a membership to access premium features.
Boost Your Website Speed: Integrating RocketPress with Video Slider Plugin
Integrating RocketPress with video slider WordPress plugin can significantly improve the performance of your website while preserving the engaging visual appeal of video content. Video sliders are often heavy on resources, particularly when multiple videos are embedded on the same page. To address this, lazy loading can be enabled within RocketPress for videos, ensuring that they only load when they enter the user's viewport. This means videos aren’t all loaded at once when the page first loads, reducing the overall load time and improving the user experience. Additionally, it's essential to optimize video files before uploading them—by compressing video sizes and using more efficient formats like WebM or MP4. These formats offer better compression and faster loading speeds while maintaining good visual quality. For sliders with multiple video slides, displaying video thumbnails instead of autoplaying videos can further reduce unnecessary resource consumption, as the actual video content will only load when the user interacts with the slider.
In addition to these video-specific optimizations, RocketPress offers a suite of performance-enhancing features for improving overall site speed. Minification and combination of CSS and JavaScript files reduces the number of HTTP requests made when the page loads, streamlining the process and improving load times. Enabling caching helps store static content like video thumbnails, images, and other assets, so they don't need to be reloaded on every visit, speeding up repeated access to the site. RocketPress also allows integration with a Content Delivery Network (CDN), which can further optimize the delivery of video assets and other media files by serving them from a server geographically closer to the user. This reduces latency and ensures faster load times, especially for visitors located far from the website's primary server. By regularly testing performance with tools like Google PageSpeed Insights or GTmetrix, you can monitor the impact of these optimizations and make any necessary adjustments. In summary, combining RocketPress with a video slider WordPress plugin ensures that your website delivers an engaging, multimedia experience while maintaining fast load times and a smooth browsing experience.

New programming adventures while I wait on my dad for a code review of the overlay cloner:
Editing DJAlex's Blender plugin to support pet meshes!
tldr, those have mysterious additional data which is now stored in custom attributes. The main purpose being for it to survive the trip through Blender. This means the game finds everything it expects when you reimport the edited pet mesh, which means...
Custom pet sliders should be possible now :D
(Demo with very lazy mesh replacements.)
The code is on my Github, but there's no one click package download yet.
I also added the handling of morph normals as custom attributes, since morphs get imported as blendshapes and those can't have different normals from the base mesh. Will need to make helpers to actually edit/transfer them, though.
(Going through MilkShape to fix waist seams on fat morphs annoyed me too much. Still no idea why morphs on meshes exported from Blender explode there, sadly.)

omg okay so i had this little idea where r is one of lara’s sister rhea’s besties and long time family friend. lara always has had some kind of dislike towards them (which is actually a crush in disguise, too stubborn to admit of course). r is this charming confident talented producer that taught both sisters the ropes of producing. r loves to tease lara (secretly very fond of her) and has this embarrassing nickname for her etc but lara interprets it as annoying and derogatory. then lara gets in katseye and blows up, is busy with her new life. their paths cross again when r gets hired as the producer for their new project. which lara deems as a gift from hell and doesnt hide it, the katz find this behavior quite odd for her and think there is more going on than lara lets on. r being their usual charismatic self charms the katseye girls, which lara finds infuriating (the green jealous monster 😉). lara and r need to work quite closely to create a song (to lara’s horror). bla bla the story continues with maybe some angst in lara kinda hurting r’s feelings and then lara realising her true feelings etc.
do with it what u will, im sure u can work ur magic :) thanks anyway <3
only you can call me that— lara raj

genre: FLUFFF (bits of angst)
synopsis: lara says she hates y/n. but when she comes back as katseye’s producer… her heart says otherwise
—
lara was thirteen the first time y/n called her “lars.”
“don’t call me that,” she said, scowling from behind the mixing table, hands too small to properly balance the sliders but determined to try anyway.
y/n didn’t even flinch. just leaned back on the couch with her typical grin, arms draped behind her head like she belonged there. “why not? lars suits you. kind of badass. kind of cute.”
“i’m not cute,” lara said, bristling.
“sure you’re not,” y/n said, winking.
rhea, her older sister, snorted from where she was adjusting her mic. “just let her have this one, lars.”
lara glared at both of them, cheeks burning. she stormed out of the studio a few minutes later, leaving her laptop behind just to prove she didn’t care.
but she still heard them laughing through the door. y/n’s laugh especially.
—
she never liked y/n. not then, not later. not when she was eighteen and y/n was suddenly this hotshot college producer making tracks for underground rappers, still dropping by their house like she owned it. not when y/n would ruffle her hair or say, “how’s my favorite little brat?” and rhea would laugh like it was the funniest thing in the world.
lara would bite her tongue and say nothing, but her ears would burn.
and definitely not when she turned twenty and made katseye. when she finally had something of her own, something real, far away from her sister’s shadow — and y/n’s annoying smirk.
—
but life was funny like that.
because two years later, just as katseye was wrapping up their biggest comeback yet, their new producer walked into the meeting room with a familiar smirk and a voice that made lara freeze mid-scroll.
“hey, girls,” y/n said. “heard you needed someone to make your next hit.”
“oh my god,” megan said, jaw dropping. “wait, is that y/n?”
sophia leaned forward in her seat. “you’re the y/n? the one who made that track for rhea last year?”
“the one and only,” y/n said, eyes drifting lazily toward lara. “hi, lars.”
lara blinked. once. twice. then dropped her pen.
“don’t. call me that,” she said flatly.
but y/n just grinned.
—
she hated how the other girls fell for her.
like within minutes, they were hanging off her every word. megan kept asking about her college studio days. manon wanted to know what plugins she used. sophia was giggling at some dumb story y/n told about rhea tripping in a sound booth.
lara sat stiffly in the corner, arms crossed, eyes narrowed.
“so lars,” y/n said later, during the first session, sidling up next to her. “you still hate me or just pretending for fun?”
“i don’t hate you,” lara said. “you’re just super annoying.”
“hm,” y/n said. “pretty bold of you, considering i’m about to make your next number one.”
“you’re not here for me. you’re here for us.”
y/n’s smile widened. “of course. but mostly for you.”
lara walked out of the room after that. and accidentally slammed the door.
—
from then on, it was hell.
not because y/n was bad at her job. no — that would’ve been easier.
she was incredible. sharp, focused, funny when she wanted to be, deeply serious when she was producing. the music they made together? layered, cinematic, addicting. the label was eating it up.
but the real problem was how she acted around the other members.
lara would walk into a room and see y/n leaning too close to daniela, laughing too hard at one of megan’s jokes, offering to walk yoonchae to get coffee, adjusting sophia’s mic with gentle hands and a soft voice. she’d see the others blush and throw teasing looks at each other like they knew something she didn’t.
and the worst part?
she couldn’t even call her out for it. because y/n never actually crossed any lines. never said anything inappropriate. never broke any rules.
except one.
“don’t call me that,” lara muttered again one night, after y/n called her “lars” for the fifth time in twenty minutes.
they were alone in the studio, editing vocals. it was late. the other members had gone home.
y/n looked up from the monitor, eyes gleaming in the dim light. “you still hate it?”
lara glared at her. “it’s not my name.”
“sure it is,” y/n said. “it’s what i’ve always called you.”
lara stood up suddenly, the chair scraping against the floor. “you’re not special,” she said sharply. “just because you knew me when i was a kid doesn’t mean you know me now.”
y/n stilled. “lara—”
“you don’t get to walk back into my life like you’re some big deal and act like nothing’s changed. i’m not rhea’s little sister anymore. and i’m not your brat.”
silence fell.
for once, y/n didn’t grin. didn’t wink. didn’t say anything smart.
she just nodded.
“you’re right,” she said quietly. “you’re not.”
—
the next few days were weird.
y/n kept her distance. no teasing, no soft jabs, no dumb nickname. she was polite. professional.
and lara hated it.
she missed the smug grin. the way y/n would lean too close just to get under her skin. the constant poking, the annoying nickname she claimed to hate but secretly clung to.
worse, the girls noticed.
“you and y/n okay?” manon asked gently one night.
“fine,” lara said.
“it’s just… you were weird when she got here. like, extra weird. and now you’re like… sad weird.”
“i’m not sad weird,” lara snapped.
megan raised an eyebrow from across the room. “you’ve been sighing into your cereal for two days.”
“i have not.”
sophia chimed in from the hallway. “you called her name in your sleep.”
“what?” lara choked.
“yup,” daniela said, walking in with popcorn. “you said ‘stop calling me lars’ and then rolled over and smacked megan.”
lara wanted to melt into the floor.
—
that weekend, y/n sent her a voice memo.
hey.
i’m sorry if i crossed a line.
i didn’t mean to make you feel like you were stuck in the past.
i know you’ve grown.
and you’re incredible now.
like, really incredible.
but i guess… i still see the girl who used to sit in the corner of the studio with headphones too big for her head, making beats no one else understood.
and i guess i kind of miss her.
anyway. if you want me off the project, just say the word.
lara didn’t sleep that night.
—
she showed up to the studio early the next day. beat y/n there for once. set up the track. even made a playlist of references. had coffee waiting.
when y/n finally walked in, blinking sleepily, lara looked up and said:
“don’t apologize again. i was being stupid.”
y/n froze. “you weren’t.”
“i was,” lara said. “i got jealous. and then i got mean. and that’s on me.”
y/n tilted her head. “jealous?”
“don’t make me repeat it.”
a slow, infuriating smile spread across y/n’s face. “so you like me.”
lara turned away before her face exploded. “i said don’t push it.”
“you’re still blushing.”
“shut up.”
y/n grinned and reached for the nearest mic. “you know, if you really want me to stop calling you lars, you could always give me a better nickname.”
lara paused.
then, without turning around, she said, “fine. i’ll come up with one. and it’s gonna be way worse than lars.”
“i look forward to it,” y/n said.
and for the first time in weeks, lara smiled.
