Charlie continued sniffing, making his way through the forest. It took a while for them to pass through this route as the forest became more dense, sunlight not even peaking through the leaves at some parts.

Charlie felt a pit in slimes stomach that only weighed heavier and heavier as slime continued, but slime ignored it. Tallulah just went out too far, slime assured slimeself.

Well.. that’s until slime saw that the clearing they had managed to find in these woods was in fact the clearing of a federation building.. The same one slime had been to before.

Charlie made his way into the house, quietly closing the door behind the three of them. He wasn’t sure if Mariana was even awake; and if she wasn’t he didn’t want to wake her up unexpected like this.

“Wait here for a second, we’re going to surprise Mariana,” he told the kids, giving both a big smile before making a hushing moment.

Then, he climbed down the ladder, taking it slowly one ring at a time. It wasn’t exactly the most sturdy thing in the world so he’d rather not take any risk.

“Mariana, are you awake mi amor?” He asked, reaching the end of the ladder and beginning to turn around.

This reminds me of that time in college when my friends and I were doing this thing called the 24-hour theatre festival, which was basically this debaucherous affair where people would get really intoxicated and stay up all Friday night writing one-act plays, then actors and directors would get fucked up all day long Saturday and rehearse the plays and then put on the plays for an audience Saturday evening. A few years, I was both a writer and an actor. I had spent all of Friday night writing a short play about a 1950s alien family with 2 friends. The next morning, another friend and I were acting in the same play (I having gotten no sleep the night before.) We took a break from rehearsing to underage drink (we live in a place where the drinking age is 21) and smoke cannabis behind my friend's dorm in broad daylight at 10:30 in the morning (cannabis was illegal in our jurisdiction at the time). As we were about to leave to return to rehearsal, a college staff confronted us, letting us know we were in trouble. He asked where the vodka went (it was in 1 of our backpacks, as was the ganja and a bottle of Kraken rum). We sheepishly replied, "It's gone."

"What - did it just disappear?" he rebuked incredulously.

"Yeah..." we replied. Fortunately he didn't press us on that. Unfortunately, we did end up having to show him our college I.D.s.

A few days later, we had to appear before the Student Judiciary Board. They spoke in these very calming voices, but said, "I'm just concerned that you were doing this at 10:30 in the morning. Are you under a lot of stress or something?"

We wound up getting 6 hours of "community restitution", which ended up meaning picking up cigarette butts off the ground and putting them in trash bags. We also had to write letters of apology to the college community, a community full of a bunch of hippy freaks like us.
