10 Tips for a Winning LinkedIn Profile
Tumblr media
Whether you're looking for software engineer jobs or seeking to draw the attention of a recruitment agency link-up, a strong LinkedIn profile is very essential for grabbing the correct possibilities. These 10 ideas can help you make sure your LinkedIn profile distinguishes itself:
1. Create a Strong Headline
The first thing they notice is your title, so make it count. Stay clear of the default "Software Engineer at XYZ Company." Rather, let your headline represent your qualifications and professional objectives. "Experienced Software Engineer Specialising in AI & Machine Learning | Open to a New Opportunity in Software Engineer Jobs," as an example.
2. Showcase a Professional Profile Photo
Your initial impression is your profile picture; so, make sure it looks professional. You really must have a clear, high-quality headshot showing you dressed for your recognised job role and sector. Pictures-based profiles are considerably more likely to be seen, hence recruitment agency will regard you as a serious prospect.
3. Create a gripping synopsis
Your synopsis should go beyond just mentioning your present job. Your opportunity is to narrate your narrative. Emphasise your background, main strengths, and what distinguishes you. Naturally, fit the summary in the keywords used "software engineer jobs" and "recruitment agency." For example, "With over five years of experience in full-stack development, I am passionate about solving difficult problems and am currently investigating software engineer jobs that align with my skills and experience."
4. Emphasise Important Competencies
Your section on talents should match what companies seeking software engineers want. List soft talents like cooperation and problem-solving as well as technical abilities like programming languages and tools you use. Make sure your contacts support the most important abilities so your profile gains credibility.
5. Showcase Your Background
Describe your job experience so that it emphasises your accomplishments rather than just your responsibilities. If at all feasible, give quantitative results and use bullet points to make reading easier. For instance, "have led a team of five engineers to create a cloud-based application, resulting in a percentage increase in user retention." Weave in keywords like "software engineer jobs," where relevant.
6. Make Use of Suggestions
Advice greatly enhances your profile. Ask superiors, coworkers, or clients, who can confirm your work ethic and skill set for referencing purposes. For a recruitment agency looking to fill appropriate software engineer jobs, a well-written recommendation might be the tipping point.
7. Interact with Sector Content
Share and comment on industry-related LinkedIn material to stay engaged. This not only indicates your field's engagement but also assists you in growing your network. Share papers on software engineering trends or recruitment agency analysis to establish yourself as a thorough and interested leader in your profession.
8. Perfect Your Profile for Search Engine Optimisation
LinkedIn is a recruiter's search engine; so, maximise your profile by adding "software engineer jobs" and "recruitment agency" keywords appropriately. This should cover your abilities, job titles, headlines, and summaries. Prevent random keyword stuffing, nevertheless, ensure the keywords organically suit the content.
9. Personalise your LinkedIn URL
Customised LinkedIn URLs are simpler to distribute and seem more business-like. Try adding keywords connected to your field of work, such as "/experienced software-engineer," or "/tech pro," if your name is already taken. Especially for an active recruitment agency looking for applicants, this little step may help you discover your profile more easily.
10. Maintain a current profile.
Update your profile often to represent your present work goals, competencies, and successes. Add anything you have just finished, a project or perhaps, you have obtained a new qualification or accreditation, add it to your profile right now. This profile update guarantees that your most current professional narrative is seen by a recruiting agency or possible employer looking at your profile-defining skills and accreditations in previous software engineer jobs or placements.
Conclusion
Your digital business card is a well-made LinkedIn profile, which increases your profile's visibility to an aware recruitment agency and opens fresh prospects in software engineering jobs. These suggestions will help you to build a profile that not only draws attention but also makes a lasting impression. Maintaining an updated profile will help you to constantly improve it to represent your changing professional path. These techniques will help you to achieve LinkedIn success well.

Tech job hunting sites
So you guys already know about Indeed and LinkedIn, it's what I use too, but there's this other site I found because of Reddit a while ago that is pretty nice. I mean, the same jobs can be found on LinkedIn, company pages of course, and the like, but it is still a pretty well designed and convenient website. It's called Otta.
This is in no way an ad, I'm not associated with them at all, I just sorta wanted to share another tool that is convenient enough that you can knock out a dozen more apps a day than you normally might. It has ratings for the company on each post, like for Glassdoor, and it has a mini-review from Otta about the company and what they do.

Software Developer Average Salaries in Dubai, United Arab Emirates 2024
Understanding Software Engineer Salaries in Dubai
The earnings landscape for software engineers in Dubai is often unclear, with different sources like Levels.fyi, Glassdoor, and Payscale offering varying statistics. This guide provides a fresh perspective on the typical salaries for software engineers in Dubai.
Purpose of the Guide
This resource is aimed at helping technology professionals get a transparent view of what they can expect to earn in the UAE. It outlines the actual salaries of software developers in Dubai, highlighting the pay differences among various company types.
Brief Summary
Typically, a senior software engineer with more than five years of experience at a leading Dubai company earns about $114,000 USD annually. For a tailored estimate, you might want to use the Dubai Software Engineer Salary and Cost of Living Calculator. This guide will also cover how salary ranges differ based on experience and company type.
Common Misconceptions
Many salary guides do not accurately portray the average earnings in Dubai, often due to unreliable data. For instance, Payscale's reported salary range for senior software engineers stretches from $8,447 to $113,352 USD per year, a variation that results from aggregating data across different company types.
Types of Companies in Dubai
There are generally two types of companies in Dubai:
Top Companies:
These are businesses that deliver high-quality products and offer competitive salaries to attract global talent. Examples include major firms like Microsoft, Oracle, Amazon, and well-funded startups such as Talabat, Careem, and Noon.
Budget Companies:
These businesses work with tighter budgets and typically offer lower pay. They usually employ less experienced or skilled workers and are often agencies, small consultancies, or businesses in industries like construction and real estate that are not primarily focused on software.
Why Averaging Salaries Can Be Deceptive
Calculating average salaries across both top and budget companies often produces misleading figures that do not accurately represent the real pay conditions. A more accurate approach is to consider salaries by company type.
How Different Salary Websites Report Dubai Wages
Levels.fyi: Mainly records salaries from top-tier companies.
Glassdoor: Shows data from both top and budget companies.
Salary Expert: Focuses on leading companies.
Gulf Talent: Predominantly covers budget companies.
Payscale: Combines data from all types of companies.
Realistic Salary Projections
Based on various data sources, we can project the following realistic salary ranges for software engineers in Dubai, according to company type:
Top Companies (2024):
Junior Software Engineer: $38,000 - $49,000 USD (AED 140,000 - AED 180,000)

Engineering Manager: $49,000 - $68,000 USD (AED 180,000 - AED 250,000)

I’m a software engineer, and getting paid in stock, and possibly feeling stuck because of a vesting schedule, is a good reason to not work for a tech company at the FAANG+M level.
I got a little carried away below talking about my very positive job switch last year, with a little motivational ending for those searching for new software engineering jobs below.
I ran away from a ginormous Fortune 100 company because they were enforcing the RTO, and I gave up on it a couple months in. (Commuting 1-1.5 hours to downtown drains all my energy so I can’t do anything in my free time in the evening).
I was close to working for Google, but by the time I passed the interview and should’ve been starting team matching, they had secretly started a hiring freeze and then started RTO for new/lower employees, so I didn’t match any team needs (lol what a waste of time). No WFH? Big nope from me
So I did the typical SE job search procedure for a while and found myself at a small company, which works closely for/with our Fortune 100 parent company.
+ I have a WFH job which helped my work life balance immensely compared at a 1h15m commute 2 days a week situation
+ I’ve come to love working for a small company (<2k employees) that makes and offers and uses software that makes big money
+ low pay uncertainty; only the amount of my yearly bonus varies in amount based on my companys’ (itself and its parent) performance and my own performance
+ I found the work culture I was searching for. 1. I have felt so much more connected with my remote colleagues than I ever did with my in office colleagues at my previous jobs. 2. I don’t feel like I’m ever bothering someone or wasting their time when I ask a question to get some help or gain more understanding on something; everyone is always willing to help.
Yes finding a new software engineering job (esp w/ <5yoe) is an ordeal on its own, but if you’re vocal with your wants (ex: state your need for a WLB, ask about what it’s like to ask questions and receive help), and of course pass the interview (willingness to learn, domain/programming language knowledge, can solve coding interview problems) … you CAN find a job that fits you… if you consistently put in the time, and learn to use job websites that support Boolean search.
Sorry for caring about stocks it’s just that my paycheck is tied to them.
Anyway who wants to know the latest in Infinite Growth Fuckery

$250 billion vanished from the Microsoft market cap because Azure only grew 29% when it was supposed to grow 30.58%
