#Sophie: what's his *name* Hardison

Was also thinking about Hardison as a friendly well-adjusted hacker and he should’ve gotten to call in the help of internet friends more. Maybe he did and I’m forgetting, but every time Eliot went “I know a guy... we worked together in [insert foreign country], deep cover paramilitary stuff”, Hardison should’ve gone “I also know a guy, from my twitch stream”

My favourite Parker episode has always been The Inside Job, y'know why? It's not just what Parker does, but rather what the others do FOR Parker.
Parker has 4 safe houses in the city, but Nate and Sophie know her well enough to know where she actually stays when she's away from the team
Parker's security code. Do you understand the level of trust someone like Parker will have to have to use their name as her security code? To the place that's her own personal sanctuary? Sophie EARNED that level of trust.
'The Sterenko can't be cracked-' 'Can you do it?' 'Nate, it can't be-' 'For Parker. Can you do it for Parker?'
This. Just this.
'I made her. I trained her, and I released her into the world.' 'She was broken! She needed you!'
This stood out so loud to me, because it's not Hardison or Sophie (the more emotionally intelligent ones of the team) saying it. Because it's NATE. It's Nate, the man who couldn't say I Love You to Sophie for so long. The man who got so caught up in his son's death that every job involving kids or medical malpractice he nearly went out of line. NATE, who pushes and pushes and is ruthless and so cold at times.
It's Nate protesting for Parker, standing up FOR Parker, and y'know why? Because Parker doesn't know what she got deprived of. Parker doesn't feel that loss because you can't grieve something you aren't even aware you could've had. But Nate does. Nate saw her injustice and loss of childhood and spoke up, KNOWING she'll never know about him defending her.
'Hardison I screwed up.' 'We're already here mama.'
Do you understand the level of trust and vulnerability it requires for her to say those words? She's never gotten anyone's help after a screwup, she's had to take care of herself on her own. And there's Hardison, right there, not upset, not angry, not disappointed. A right straight - I'm here and we'll get you out.
'Let's get our girl home.'
Do I even need to say anything.
'It's not what we do, we don't get involved!' 'No, that's what YOU do!'
Parker is not Archie Leach's protege anymore. She's Parker. She's the greatest thief in the world. She's the one person to get the entire Leverage Inc breathing down your neck to save her. She has a family who got her back. She has a life and friends and people who may not understand her always but will always support her and be there for her, no matter what, without changing any aspect of her or forcing her to change either. And she saves people, because that's what they do.
'It's your play Parker.'
The explicit trust Nate displays in her. For someone like Nate with control issues and need to be the guy calling the shots, this is practically an all out notice saying 'she's my people, she's my family, I trust her with my life, more than that I trust her with my family and our jobs.'
'No.' 'What do you mean no? This isn't time for crazy, Parker! Come on!' 'No! I need to go back. I need to put the vial back.'
Do you understand what it feels to have someone like Parker, who is practically a ghost and the prospect of getting stuck somewhere is unthinkable, to refuse an escape route? And that too because she wants to help people and not be used to hurt them? In the face of someone who brought her up to only steal? Now that's growth.
Now this is a callback, but when Sophie and Nate first enter her safehouse, Sophie says something that foreshadows the ending. She says 'Look at this. It's methodical. This could be one of your plans, Nate.'
This is a personal choice, but god it's so good when authors and writers and creators give you hints and foreshadow and reward your intuition at the end, rather than changing endings for shock value. Because Hardison isn't ruthless, Eliot isn't striving for control, and Sophie is dramatic, not clinical. None of it would have been worth it unless it went to Parker, which it did.
Man, this fucking show I swear.

leverage pirate au
okay actually i want to talk more about this post
eliot is an ex solider for some sort of nobility, he hates uses guns after watching his boyfriend get his shoulder blown off, and he swears off guns and off the monarchy, jumping from pirate crew to pirate crew, never finding a place to 'settle' (as much as pirates can settle) until he meets nate ford
parker wasn't on any official crew, she would sneak onto a ship and steal their gold, before sneaking off before anyone noticed. she chose to stay with nate because she was still able to do what she did best, but with something new, something exciting (plus he let her hang out on the ropes, literally) she was raised on a rich man's ship, but she set out on her own when she was sixteen, honing her skills and gaining a name for herself
hardison was the forger. he taught himself how to do everything he knows in a small foster home. you want a map, he knows it well enough to create it from memory without needing any reference. he could navigate waters like it was no difficulty and create id papers out of basically thin air.
nathan ford is not a pirate captain, he is very adamant about that. he is on a ship that he is leading, and he is leading a crew of people but he is not a pirate captain. he's putting together a crew to take down his ex navy captain, who he was helping take down pirates stealing from noble ships.
sophie has grifted her way onto all sorts of ships, into all sorts of parties. no one has one clear defintion of who she is, but the britian nobility know her as the queen of india, the chinese government are hunting her for impersonating a princess, and most pirates are in awe of her. she's a legend, a story pirates tell to their other crewmates and an unknown to the people nate ford used to work for, unclear if she exists or is an exaggeration spread to scare them
nate ford used his last money that he has to build his ship, the lucille, which explodes once, gets attacked once, and set on fire twice. (hardison mourns it every time. if you get close enough to see the lucille, you'll notice four tally marks slashed into the wood next to the gold cursive, clearly done with a sword, or a knife)

DHD: Leverage daemon au
(confession: I read the first 80% of golden compass in 2006 while waiting for christmas and thus new books and never finished it, so my rules for worldbuilding now!) Some things, everyone knows. Like how to breathe, and just as important. Separating hurts. Nothing cut can be made whole. Daemons don’t settle twice. Everyone in the business knew that Eliot Spencer’s Daemon had settled as an American black bear, and that Marron could kill just as viciously as he did.  Everyone deep in the business knew that he was Moreau’s right hand. Everyone in the business knew that Moreau’s best men were Severed.
Nate had never asked where Marron was, and neither had Sophie, though neither of them knew everything about his time with Moreau. He guessed they’d figured out something as close to the truth as anyone was going to guess, even Moreau. None but the two of them knew the truth, that Marron had run to save them both. That Marron had come back, a scruffy mongrel with a broken banner of a tail. She kept her distance the first few jobs, waiting in the Shadows. Eliot could always feel her there, just as strong as if she’d been only a few feet away. That wasn’t supposed to be how things worked, but no one had told Marron that. Parker, though, had noticed right away. “Like us,” she’d said, eyes flicking skyward. Rhodonite had settled as a Kestral young, after the first stint in Juvie. They’d agreed without needing to speak, aloud or otherwise, about it. That was how they worked. Who could say who’s idea anything they did was? They were the same, and neither of them suffered cages or locked doors lightly. “No,” Eliot had said, uncertain how much was a lie. “No,” Parker had returned. “You’re like us. It was safer. They don’t get that.” She was right about that. Hardison’s Chip, and Nate’s Vianney almost never left their shoulders. When Chip had to, it was usually to a pocket, and Vianney, though she could fly some distance away when a con called for it, preferred to stay as close as possible, where she could bite Nate’s ear, or preen his hair, depending on just how much of an ass he was being. It was easier to hide a pika than a parrot, unfortunately, but they always made do.  Remy helped with that. Remy had introduced himself when Nate had introduced Sophie to the team, a soft mink draped over a shoulder. “Remy. It’s short for anything you can think of,” he’d said, sliding off Sophie’s arm to investigate, shifting into a sleek, dark cat. He’d been Rembrant, Reminiscent, Remolade, Remnant; everything from a mobster’s coiled snake to a street rat’s street rat. It never bothered him what his name was, or what hers was--Sophie, Katherine, Charlotte, Laura. Names were as changeable as the color of her hair, the shade of his eyes.  “She never settles, so I don’t see why I have to. If you have a problem with that, I’ll bite you.” “I’ll bite you, too,” Sophie had laughed, a deadly glint in her eye. “So, Nate, what’s the score? What finally got you to try my side of the board?” The money had been good. The understanding--or at least, the hiding of judgment, was better. They’d split off and found their way back, again, again.

I gotta do a things I'm noticing on my leverage rewatch masterlist but literally just in the first two eps I think the things I love the most are that they are, every single one of them, here to cause chaos FIRST. oho the congressman is obsessed with his house is he? Hey, can I borrow your phone? It would be a shame :3 if something :3 happened to his mahogany wood panels :3
and it's simple!! Eliot makes one (1) phone call in the name of making trouble and it gets folded into the con seamlessly. He throws a rock at a camera. Parker's skills are showcased in how you never see her working - one moment the picture is on the wall, the next second it isn't. She's in one outfit walking in the door, in another walking out. Working together to get the voice command - parker knows exactly what she needs, she's already onto solving the problem, and Nate just goes "Eliot" to get the rest of the sounds and he manufactures, on the fly, a two-part grift that Sophie immediately joins in on to get what she needs. He remembers every single sound, pairs it with his fancy food knowledge, looks at the appetizers he can get his hands on, and goes for it! Hardison needs the rfid card, he's already put what he needs in the cell phone, Eliot just needs to hold the card close to it. Offices like a real business, established since 1913. old Nate.
Masterfully, casually competent, and they all enjoy working with other experts! Hardison and Nate sit down with beers and popcorn just to watch Parker put paper in a box! People with different specialities have certain aspects handed to them and the rest of them kick back and watch a master at work, ready to give backup but generally just there, having a good time.

tysm for answering my qs about werewolf!eliot !! not to keep bugging you lol but i remember you mentioned in the tags of a post one time about a hc/au of parker being some sort of fae or otherworldly being who’s just kinda found herself here in the non-magical world - could you elaborate on that? like how come she’s in the non-fantasy part of the leverage universe, or whether the other characters know, etc? only if you want to of course, no pressure :) i’m really enjoying reading your posts about all these ideas!
You're welcome! And you're definitely not bugging me, I love getting the chance to ramble about my thought lol (werewolf!eliot post here) (link to the post and my tags that started this)
Honestly I don't have as clear ideas for Parker as I did for Eliot, but I imagine her being some kind of changeling or air/wind sprite that was left with humans for whatever reason.
(ooh i'm getting more ideas for this the more i think about it..)
okay, Parker is actually half-fey, half-human
no one really knows who her parents were or how she came to be on her own (me included lol), she was just found on a doorstep as a baby
the people who took her in had their own issues and the state eventually intervened and sent Parker into foster care
she found out at a very early age that she was different to other kids - she could move around without making a sound, she could fit into tiny spaces - all very helpful for a young girl in a foster system that was chewing her up and spitting her out
she also discovered that she could ... not turn invisible exactly, but she could be less visible if she wanted to be; all she has to do is think about not being seen and people's eyes just drift over her
Archie had absolutely no idea what she was when he got his hands on her, but even he knew that she was beyond just a gifted child
he only realised there was something magical about her after she fell off the roof of the warehouse he'd been training her in - then walked it off like it was no biggie
fey creatures love puzzles and riddles, so of course Parker has always had a natural affinity for puzzles (aka locks)
her super artistic talent is a trait that is Entirely Parker and, given that she entered a life of crime early and was surrounded by artistic masterpieces all the time, she never even considered that other people would draw/paint/whatever with any lower skill level
this contributes to her not understanding what the fuss is over art
she gave herself the name Parker when Archie met her and asked her name; it was the first thing that came to mind
she doesn't remember her birth name and isn't bothered by that in the slightest
Eliot was the first of the team to figure out she was fey - being a werewolf, he can smell and/or sense that kind of thing on others
Hardison suspected something was up with her, but then felt bad for thinking that, but then strange things kept happening around her so he started to keep a list ...
pretty much Hardison has a red-string conspiracy theory-style board of Parker Things. He's too terrified of offending her to ask her outright, but he's more convinced every day
(he's also more in love with her and just thinks her fey-ness is another thing to celebrate)
Parker finds Hardison's board of Parker Things and is utterly fascinated. It's like he understands her better than she understands herself. He's super flustered when he finds her poring over the board and tries to make excuses, but Parker's quick to steamroll over that and demands if he knows what she is
Eliot finds them 15 mins later, stuck in an endless loop of confusion over which of them actually knows what Parker is
he just rolls his eyes, says she's half-fey, it's obvious, like, "what? it's a very distinctive smell!"
which leads to how the hell would he know what the fey are and Eliot's like, oh crap, right, they still don't know I'm a werewolf whoops
Hardison and Parker stage a coming-out for her to Nate and Sophie
(Eliot refuses to be involved but still gets roped into carrying the banner. He's still finding glitter in his hair weeks later)
Sophie is thrilled about the reveal and confesses to being a siren (or some other supernatural/magical creature that can manipulate people, idk i have less thoughts about her than i do about parker)
Nate is all like are you kidding me right now what the hell is my life
after a lot of badgering, he confesses he didn't know about Parker, although he has been ... aware of magical beings for some time
no he will not be discussing this any further, can we just get back to the con now??
Parker finds that, now she's aware of her fey-ness, her magical abilities develop further
she doesn't quite gain the ability to fly but ... yeah okay, she can pretty much fly
she wants to test how far this flying ability goes - by, of course, jumping off tall buildings with Hardison in her arms (and no harness for either of them)
Hardison flat out refuses this, so Eliot somehow finds himself the unwilling victim
of course, Parker masters flying while carrying people in no time and proves it to Hardison by just grabbing him and jumping off a building one day
(he's still in therapy for it)
Parker also discovers she can make herself kind of ... misty
this skill is harder to learn but she's already been able to make her hand go misty and whoosh inside a lock
picking the lock is harder in this incorporeal state but Parker's instincts say there's a way to do this, so she keeps practising until she can pretty much disintegrate herself and float through locked doors to rematerialise on the other side
it's a nightmare for the whole team because, sure, it's not like locked doors stopped her in the past. But now she's so excited about it all the time that any concept of privacy completely leaves her brain and she jumps in and out of rooms and safes etc any time of day or night
Wow. This ended up longer than expected! Guess I did have some ideas about fey!Parker after all..

You get more leverage with a crowbar
"...I told you," bristles Elliot, stalking in an angry little half-circle around the open – very open – door.  It's a heavy door, fireproof, and designed to add an extra layer of overnight security to the collection in the room beyond, but it hadn't been able to stand against the explosives that had been packed around its hinges and lock.  "I told you there was something off about the whole setup. Or do you think that it's just a coincidence that someone else decided to rob the museum right after we took down all their security precautions?"  He prowls back around again, feet automatically stepping over the unconscious security guard who is dreaming happily on the low-pile carpet – one of several who lies scattered decoratively around the museum thanks to Sophie’s intervention.
Hardison sees his point, but at the same time, it's not like mister punchy-man is the one who has been putting in the hard work on this heist so far.  "You're upset? Who spent hours”– okay, lie, it was like five minutes, but he has a mystique to cultivate here –"making sure all the alarms were disabled just to find that someone took advantage of his hard work–"
"Your hard work!" Sophie breaks in with an expressive wave of her hands. "You think it's easy spending two weeks being a docent? On a museum salary? During field trip season?!"  She shudders beneath the name badge (not hers) that she is still wearing. There are sticky handprints on the hem of her sensible grey suit.
"Quiet!"
They all stop and look at Nate, who is staring down at the fallen door with a deeply contemplative expression.  Hardison can almost hear his fans spinning.  "Do you ever feel," he says slowly – and that is his sit-up-and-pay-attention voice, his mastermind voice, his I'm-at-heart-a-deeply-creepy-bastard voice, "that we were being led the whole way here?"
Hardison knows by now that the best way to speed up Nate's processor is with a little kick of wounded pride, and he's got plenty of his own to share. "Naw – you're saying that someone mailing us a newspaper article about the failed repatriation attempts around the duke's collection might not have been a coincidence?"
"I'm saying," says Nate, rising predictably to the bait, "that I think this is less to do with the temple and more to do with some other person or agency about which we, currently, know far less than they apparently do us."
"I can tell you they're Chinese," interjects Elliot.  Nate's laser-focus snaps to him, and under that stare he gives a shrug.  "Or at least that they learned how to build explosives by working with fireworks in Liuyang.  Smell that."  He takes a deep sniff and let the breath out through his mouth, just like he's at a wine tasting. What a freak [affectionate]. "Notice how the sulfur tang hits the back of your tongue? The bitter finish?"
Hardison sniffs dutifully, but mostly smells...smoke.  And not even much of that – not even enough to set off the museum's smoke detectors even if they and everything else in the adorable little setup the museum thinks is a security system weren't sitting there obediently waiting for Hardison to tell them what to do.  "Mmmhmm, sure," he lies, with the ease of long practice.  "And you're trying to say you know where this guy trained from a smell?"
"It's a very distinctive smell," says Elliott, right on cue.  Damn, Hardison is gonna get Elliot bingo fast tonight.  "But the explosive placement on that door is more like the placement you'd use in underground structures, so we're dealing with someone who was trained on explosives in mines, or excavation, or–"
He stops dead.  Stares at nothing, brows drawing down in a tangle, and mutters something that sounds mystifyingly like "cultural artifacts".  Then tilts his head back and yells like the tiniest, angriest rooster in the world:
"WANG PANGZI, YOU GET YOUR ASS OUT HERE RIGHT NOW!"
There's a moment's pause, and then a deep rumbling chuckle.  They all turn towards the source of the sound, just in time to see a man amble into the light.  He's a big man, fat-over-muscle, but he moves with the kind of ease that tells Hardison that he knows how to use every ounce.  Elliot is glaring at him like he's going to go for his ankles any second, but Hardison is saved from having to intervene (i.e., get out his camera) by the delighted trill that comes from Sophie beside him.
"Pangzi, darling!"  She drifts forward like a battleship under full sail and is almost instantly wrapped in the big man's arms, both of them breaking into a fast-paced chatter in a language Hardison recognizes from his hacker forums and subbed dramas as a Chinese dialect (not that the man's features and the fact that he's apparently *also* robbing an exhibit of Chinese antiquities aren't also something of a tip-off). Whoever this guy is, Sophie knows him well, so well that their expressive movements as they both gesture effusively with their hands interweave effortlessly.
Hardison's so busy bemusedly watching this unexpected love-fest that he misses the moment that someone else appears on the scene. What he doesn't miss, though, is Nate stiffening beside him.  It's almost a Sterling-level stiffen, and that has Hardison glancing over pretty damn quickly, but all he sees is another man, Chinese like the first but a little younger, and far too ordinary in appearance to be in a museum at midnight with an unconscious guard and a still-smoking door.  Hardison looks him over evaluatingly: the glasses say "geek" and the sweater says "prep", but the scar on his neck says either "danger" or "has a hell of a story about a power tool".
"Wu Xie," says Nate, not so much smiling as allowing his teeth to surface from the depths.  Oh, Nate hates this guy.  Hardison perks up in interest.
"Nate," says the man, returning the smile – and Hardison may not know him, but he's stolen enough antiques to recognize a matched set when he sees one.  Innnnnteresting.  Hardison tries to remember where he's heard the name Wu Xie before – and 3.5 seconds later, it hits him like a box of rocks.
He flails.
"Wait a minute," he says, loud enough to break through the sound of Sophie and the fat man (who appear to have started singing) all indignation at being used by the competition evaporating like smoke in the face of a much greater injustice.  "Wait. A. Minute. If that–" he points at Nate's latest nemesis, who blinks "–is Wu Xie, and that–" another, increasingly accusatory jab of his finger "–is Wang Pangzi, then does that mean"– he can hear his own voice getting higher –"does that mean that Zhang Qiling is around here someplace?"
He spins around, futilely scanning the ceiling, and finishes his circle aimed squarely at his cheating, holdout, betrayer of a boyfriend who'd better enjoy having every internet link he clicks be a rickroll for the next week because he knows what he did.  "You know Batman and you didn't tell me?!"
** * **
In the quiet shadows of a balcony above, a dark figure crouches on a railing, his black clothing somehow managing to blend with the dimly-lit neutrals of the museum walls. His posture is attentive but comfortable; his hood is pulled down low over his face, and strapped to his back is a black and gold sword that would be worth a heist in its own right.
Silently, a line drops down from the ceiling and a second figure in black – this one upside-down and with a blond ponytail that hangs down like an inverted exclamation-mark – slides down to hang even with the first.
"Hey, Xiaoge," says Parker, holding out an open bag of marshmallows that she'd liberated from the gift shop.
Not turning his head, Xiaoge nods, and takes a handful.
And together they chew in companionable silence, while their families sort things out below.

Ok, so the Stone triplets, I have a lot to say.
Jacob Stone was raised by their biological father Isaac Stone. Stone being all of their original last names (I'll get to the name changes later). I think their biological mom died which is what caused the separation of the brothers. I'd say this happened at an age in which they remember their mom and growing up together, but still young enough to have spent some of their childhood apart. Isaac Stone is known to be an alcoholic and deadbeat, I'd also argue abusive so he separated the twins, keeping only Jacob, the most agreeable of the three who he thinks he can make carry on the family business.
Alex was taken in by his uncle Danny as stated in s1e7. Danny says his folks couldn't take care of him anymore and left Alex with him. Alex was subsequently raised in a life of crime, lying, cheating, and stealing. I think Danny is their mom's brother and Isaac dumped Alex off onto him and Alex changed his last name to Walker to match Uncle Danny's.
Although Eliot says he was dropped at a hopital as a baby and then adopted by Billy, I think this is a lie and Eliot came to them when he was older after the death of his biological mother. I believe the Spencer's found Eliot in the hospital in Oklahoma, where both the Stones and Billy lived and took him in from there. Eliot then changed his name to his adoptive parents. We can assume the house in Oklahoma City that Eliot visits and doesn't get an answer at in The Low Low Price Job is Billy's. In The Bucket Job, Eliot has a contact in his phone labeled Dad (Billy) and "J." He is shown to text J so it can be assumed that Eliot and Jacob have had a little bit of contact, but Eliot says that he hasn't had contact with his Dad since he was 18. Now we don't actually know that Spencer is Billy's last name. It could be an alias Eliot used after leaving the military and becomes a little less than legal in his activities. Billy's last name could be Carson (Eliot is seen wearing a Carson Hardware shirt, and we know Billy had a hardware store). This could make Eliot's legal last name Carson.
(Sorry, there is a lot more)
When Eliot was 18, he enlisted in the military and left. I think this is what stopped the contact between him and Jacob, and contact between Alex and the other two decreased and eventually stopped as Alex was with Uncle Danny.
In the Miracle Job Eliot mentions having a nephew. This could imply another sibling whither biological or adoptive, or that Evelyn Walker is trans and Eliot didn't know.
Eliot goes through his time in the military, then as a hitter and retrieval expert, his time with Moreau, and then eventually with Leverage. Alex gets married and has a daughter, becomes a well known DEA agent and eventually divorced and ends up in the Philippines. Alex works for Isaac Stone for a bit while amassing secret degrees eventually leaving the family business under the guise of working a similar job somewhere else when he is working for The Library.
Eliot hears about Alex's DEA fame through the crime grapevine and Alex catches wind of the notorious Eliot Spencer whom he suspects is his brother but can't seem to ever find enough information on to confirm. They however do not have contact. Eliot finds out about Jacob working for the Metropolitan Library as an art historian after Jacob gains the confidence to publish under his own name through Sophie who admires his work and would love to con him. This prompts the first contact since they were 18 from Eliot (with the help of Hardison's computer skills but Eliot asked Hardison not to ask questions). Eliot also establishes Jacob off limits as a mark for Sophie with no context.
Eve Baird knows about DEA legend Alex Walker. As previously mentioned, Sophie knows about Jacob Stone as an art historian. Sophie and Maggie die and pester Eliot once they find out he knows thee Jacob Stone, Dr Oliver Thompson, and all the other aliases Jacob has published under. Read more in another wonderful Stone Triplets post here.
Now, there are options about how this reconnection could go. A combo of a con and clippings book quest in the Philippines leading to Alex. Or a vacation in Portland for our Filipino friends where they and the LITs end up in the Portland brew pub (since that's where the annex is). Or they finally decide to reach out to each other.
I'm team Eliot decides he wants to reach out, especially after reconnecting with Billy and texting a bit with Jacob. So they all meet in a neutral location. Obviously, they bring their found families with them. And oh dear, it's Bisexual Disaster Polycule³. Kai and Ernesto are terrified to find out there are two more Alex's but they are actually cool, they are however trying to actively ignore the not quite legal business Alex's gruff looking brother Eliot seems to have going on. They've heard stories about The Eliot Spencer, but Alex trusts him, so they will too. Mostly. Ezekiel can not believe he is meeting THE Parker. And it's stealing for a good cause! He wants to work with Leverage immediately. Cassandra is so excited to meet Jacob's family (especially since meeting Isaac didn't go very well). She and Hardison are stoked to pick each other's brains. Jacob assures Eve that it's ok to tell his brothers the truth. Parker, Breanna, and Hardison both die a little upon finding out about the existence of magic. They all three have a billion and one questions and Breanna practically begs for an apprenticeship under Jenkins, wanting to learn more about the back door and his other inventions. (Jenkins decided best not to share his true identity for avoidance of the endless questions bound to erupt). The Filipino trio try not to think too hard about the magic stuff. Jacob is lightly concerned about the art theft, but he Sophie and Maggie immediately set up a brunch. Jacob and Ernesto talk martial arts, and Eliot compliments both of their styles. Alex and Parker talk about being raised in crime. Alex is amazed that he's the one who was raised in lying and stealing, but it's the other two brothers who do that now. Jacob is very offended and insists he is not a thief and that retrieving dangerous artifacts is not theft. When they part ways and Alex goes back to his gift shop, he is surprised to find out from Corey that rent has been paid for several months in advance. Also, upon meeting, it was noted of the stark similarity between Harry and Flynn only to find out that Flynn is Harry's estranged, eccentric cousin. What a small world.
They chat, they catch up on eachothers lives, and they agree to keep in touch. For real this time. They plan to spend holidays together, combining the three found families into a chaotic but loving mess.
It should also be noted that I haven't seen Angel yet, but Lindsay is a cousin. They also have a weird cousin from Texas named Lee Webb. Back to when I mentioned that we don't know that Spender is Billy's last name. Eliot could have taken inspiration from a family member with the last name Spencer. (It could be his mom if she and her brother Danny Walker have different last names or another family member). Thereby connecting Shawn Spencer to be a cousin. The thought of him at a family reunion with Eliot, Jacob, and Alex is too funny to ignore. Especially when you remember Parker's thing about psychics and how much Sophie would absolutely adore the long con game on the SBPD.

Leverage/Psych crossover ideas
Shawn and Elliot are cousins. They havent met because Henry is estranged from his sibling who is Elliot’s parent. Team Leverage does a job in Santabarabra while Shawn and co are in the middle of in unrelated murder investigation. They come within mere seconds of crossing paths several times until finally Parker runs into Lassiter. They both see someone do something dumb and mutter the same thing under their breaths. They hear each other and catch eyes. They have a short talk where they bond over being autistic coded. Then they go their separate ways, fully expecting to never see the other again. Yeah, they thought the other person seemed cool but neither of them are really in the market for more friends
The Leverage team finishes their con successfully and leaves town. Somehow the bad guys manage to learn Elliot’s name. Wait, Spencer? Like the psychic? They look into it and yeah turns out they’re related. They kidnap Shawn to get to Elliot and then call Sophie or rather Sophie’s alias and say hey guess what? We’ve got your cousin and unless you undo the damage you did and give us a bunch of money we’ll kill him.
Elliot is confused at first before he remembers yes, he does have a cousin who is from Santabarbara. Didn’t know he was psychic though. (Not that he’s sure he believes that) So they turn around and head back to Santabarbara.
Naturally since Shawn was kidnapped Lassie and Jules are on the case. (And Gus)
At first their are no leads. They have no idea why Shawn was kidnapped. Then, they find security footage and manage to link it back to the same company whose ceo Lassiter arrested for fraud the day before. They aren’t sure what the connection is, but it’s there.
Then team Leverage gets back to town. They team up with the Santabarbara crew and rescue Shawn. (Possibly Elliot intentionally gets himself captured because it’s the quickest way to find Shawn and then takes the bad guys out while Shawn is standing is standing in the background like “wow my cousin is badass!”)
Sidenote: Shawn gets his kidnappers to spill the beans on what’s going on and they tell him about how his cousin framed a guy for fraud. Shawn recognizes that for the half truth it is.
During the time looking for Shawn Parker befriends both Jules and Lassiter. (She goes with her fbi cover, which Hardison has officially made almost full proof in its authenticity.) or not. Idk.
Gus and Alec would obviously love going undercover together. Alec finally has someone who will go along with his dramatics easily, like it’s any other day. Gus meanwhile is used to working with Shawn and is having a blast, cause its very similar. Obviously it’s different then Shawn and Gus, I mean Alec and Gus just met, but its an equal tug and pull of power. They are both just grounded enough that neither one of them is the crazy one, but neither are either of them the completely normal levelheaded one either.
Maybe at the end, Henry reaches out to his estranged sibling or something. As for Sophie and Nate? Well Sophie can’t get involved because she was already the public face of the con. And Nate is intimidated by chief Vick, but he doesn’t tell anyone that. By the end only Shawn and Gus know that the crew are thieves. Lassiter and Jules know something is fishy about them, but hey, it’s probably just fbi stuff. (Plus Jules reached out to her brother and Ewan said Elliot is a good guy.)
Thanks to @duckapus for kickstarting this idea by your leverage psych crossover post

S2 Ch 4 - The Beantown Bailout Job
Series Rewrite Masterlist
Pairing: Eliot Spencer x Ford!Reader
Description: The team is reunited in Boston and help a father-daughter pair with the mob.
Words: 5498
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I woke up a little earlier than I normally do, got dressed and walked across the hall. I entered with my spare key and started making breakfast and coffee.
After the whole deal with Blackpoole, Nate was looking for a fresh start, and he decided that that would look like living close to me in Boston. He stayed with me for a few weeks while he got his stuff in order, and then the condo across the hall opened up. He decided to stay close. I didn’t mind, it meant I could keep an eye on him, make sure he was doing okay, especially since he stopped drinking, almost cold turkey.
I heard him walk down the stairs, “what are you doing here?
I looked up to see him in a well pressed suit, “well, it’s your first day at this new job isn’t it?”
I finished up the breakfast I was making right as the coffee maker indicated it was done. I handed them both to him at the counter before dishing myself a plate.
“Thank you, y/n.” He started to sip on his mug, “Do you have work going on today?”
“I’m vetting possible clients, but no projects, why?”
“Just curious. Uh, Sophie has a musical tonight, here in Boston. Do you wanna come with me?”
“Sure, sounds fun.” I halfway entertained the idea of everyone else being there, but the chances of that were slim. But imagining seeing Eliot again was still a bit fun.
He left shortly after, I finished cleaning up and returned to my own apartment. It was only a few hours later when I heard the door across the hall slam closed. I quickly called Nate.
“Yeah?”
“Was that you that just slammed your door closed?”
“Yeah.”
“What are you doing back already? It’s not even lunch time.”
“I quit.”
“What?”
“It was just too much.”
I sighed, “Okay.”
“I also helped this girl and her dad get out of a car wreck.”
“What?!”
“I’m a bit worried about them, something seems off. I might go visit them in the hospital again sometime…”
“Okay…”
“I’ll talk to you later.”
“Okay.”
The things this man gets himself into…
He knocked on my door that evening, walking in when I called him. I looked at the outfit he was wearing and looked at my own to see we were both in a nicer casual.
“Cool, let me grab my keys.”
We arrived at the theater with plenty of time to spare. As we looked around the opening foyer I heard a voice at the front desk.
“Parker. No, just one name.”
I touched Nate’s arm to point out that Parker was here. Soon as we looked around, I saw that the rest of the crew had come as well. We greeted each other before Sophie came out and said hi.
“I didn’t know you could sing,” Hardison commented to Sophie.
“You know, not as well as I act, but yeah.”
Hardison and Parker made a bit of horrified eye contact that left me confused. Hardison saw this and shook his head as if to say, ‘don’t ask.’
There was an awkward moment between Nate and Sophie before Sophie insisted on us all meeting up afterwards before she dashed off.
I guess it was time for the show.
It was awful, and that’s all that needs to be said.
We all went to McRory’s pub after the show. Sophie was distraught as Parker rad some of the reviews.
“Never before has a production of The Sound of Music made me root for the Nazis.”
I cringed a bit in sympathy.
Eliot sat down at the bar with Nate, he was surprised that he had stopped drinking, “how do you know about this place then?”
“We rent condos upstairs,” I told him.
“Condos? Plural?”
I looked at Nate, “we each needed our own space.”
Eliot only nodded.
Sophie stopped Parker, “No there is nothing you can say to make me feel better.”
“I know what can make you feel better. We should steal something.”
Nate opposed.
“Yes, we could do it together!” Sophie finally seemed excited.
“I like this. Get right back up on the bike.” Eliot commented
“Bike of crime,” Parker added.
“Didn’t you earlier tell me how great your new lives were?” Nate asked.
“Yeah, well, I stole the Hope Diamond.” Parker said, “Then I put it back. Yeah, because I was bored. Didn’t care.”
“I spent three days hacking the White House email. No buzz.”
“See?” Sophie pointed.
“But we are doing some pretty hinky stuff in Pakistan. Hinky…”
“Look, I’m miserable. They’re miserable…” Sophie said to Nate before asking Eliot, “Okay, what have you been doing the last six months?”
He hesitated, “I was in Pakistan…”
I raised an eyebrow at him, but he just shrugged.
“You… You see what you did?” Hardison asked Nate, “You took the world’s best criminals, hitter, hacker, grifter, thief. You took us and you broke us.”
“No, no. I… What I did, I taught you how to help people. That’s all.” Nate argued.
“Exactly.”
“This is the problem with being the good guy! It gets under your skin.” Eliot explained.
I just took a sip of my mild drink, watching this all happen.
“Look Nate,” Sophie said, “you have to have some poor little lost soul somewhere who needs a little extra legal aid.”
“Look, we agreed that we would just move on.”
“Yeah, but… we’re thieves!”
“Not me! Look, it was great. It was fun, it was wonderful while it lasted, but, you know, I was drunk for most of the time to be honest with you-”
“But you were good,” Eliot interrupted.
“You were the best.”
“We were the best.”
I smiled over my glass, watching them wear Nate down. This was good for him, they were good for him.
“Listen, I owe all of you, and I’m very proud of what we did, I really am, but… I got my life back and I intend to keep it that way.”
My smile fell. I tried to stare him down, but Nate was pointedly avoiding eye contact.
“And I am not a thief.” He stood from the bar and walked out, “it was great to see all of ya. Good night.”
I stood as well, “I’m sorry about him, maybe stick around town for a while? It was nice to see you guys again.”
“Don’t worry about it y/n. It was good to see you too.” Eliot said before everyone else said their goodbyes.
I caught up to Nate on the stairs.
“‘I got my life back?’ Nate, you don’t know what to do with yourself anymore!”
“Y/n, I’m going straight. I’m gonna get a job, a normal job! I’ll figure it out.”
“You better, because these guys saved you better than I ever could. Don’t throw them away.”
He looked at me, “Okay.”
“Okay, I’m going to bed. Don’t stay up too late.”
He waved me off as I stepped into my apartment. I contemplated working a bit more, but decided against it and went straight up to my room and crashed.
The next day I felt bad for what I said. I looked at the clock and figured he would probably be up by now, even if he quit his job. I walked across the hall, but could hear lots of things happening inside Nate’s apartment.
I knocked on the door and gently pushed it open, sticking my head in. “Nate?”
“Get out of there!”
“What?” I saw Nate was on the couch and he was looking towards the kitchen. I stepped in further to see that the whole crew was there in Nate’s apartment.
Nate looked over to me and waved me in further into the apartment as if to say, ‘fine, come on in.’
“What are you guys doing here? Get all this stuff out of here, you’re planning something I know it. Come on, get out of my house, out!” Nate got off the couch and started trying to shew the team away.
“Someone tried to kill you last night.”
“What?!”
Everyone snapped their heads over to me with a slightly guilty expression.
“I’m fine.”
Eliot turned back to Nate, “What do you want us to do man? You want us to just blow town, let you figure it out?”
“Yes, actually, that’s exactly what I want you to do.”
“Nate.” I gave him a pointed look, “what did we talk about last night? If someone tried to kill you then we’re gonna need some help.”
“We’re nothing y/n, you’re not getting involved with this.”
“Bullcrap, I’m a grown ass woman, and you obviously are acting like a child!”
Sophie interjected, not letting that go too far, “We found the phone number of the hospital in your pocket, Nate. We know what you did. We know you saved that guy’s life and the little girl, and we’re all really proud of you!”
I sat next to Eliot at the table, Parker on my other side, dressed like a nun, as he applauded Nate.
“Look, nobody else is gonna help that guy and his little girl, okay?” Hardison said seriously, “that’s what we do, we help people.”
Nate just continued to make coffee.
“By the way, I compared Sophie’s description of your attacker to the accident footage from the security camera.” He typed away at his laptop, “Do you realize that on average, people are caught on security cameras thirteen times a day?”
“That’s crazy,” I commented and Hardison nodded at me.
“It is crazy, but we can track him…” He trailed off, “I lost him in this.”
I peaked over the table to see the man on camera take papers out of the briefcase he stole from the man in the crash and dash off.
“Yeah, well, I found this empty briefcase belonging to Matt Kerrigan at that intersection” Eliot told Nate who was becoming more interested.
“It’s, uh, Boston Commonwealth Bank right?”
“No,” Nate corrected, “First Independent Boston. That’s where Kerrigan works, come on.”
I smiled, Hardison seeming to have the same thought as me.
“Who’s this guy?” Eliot pointed at the laptop, and I followed where he was pointing.
“You don’t know, do you? It’s Kerrigan’s boss, that guy, Leary.” Nate brushed off the stares he got from the crew.
“Well, who’s the other guy?”
“It’s not clear enough for facial recognition.”
“Well the problem is, those two cats went down to the safety deposit boxes.”
Parker stood, “which is the only room in every bank with absolutely no cameras.”
“Which means we up, baby,” Hardison stood and finished his priest outfit to fit with Parker’s nun. “They tried to kill Kerrigan for what was in the briefcase… We’re gonna steal it back.” He continued as the two of them left.
Eliot laughed, “She’s dressed that way because she’s doin’ a con…”
“What, you thought she was dressed like a nun for no reason?” Nate asked.
“It’s Parker,” Eliot pointed out.
“I didn’t question it either Nate,” I raised my hand. Eliot pointed at me appreciatively.
“Well, fair enough,” Nate conceded. “Okay, I want you out of my house, out.” Naate continued after a moment. He explained that he was going to get cleaned up and he wasn’t involved with any of it. He wanted everything out of his house.
After he went up stairs I turned to Sophie and Eliot who were still there, “you guys can stay, if you need to hide from him pop over to my place across the hall.” I stood from the table and walked towards the door, “keep me in the loop please, I wanna know what's going on!”
“We will, y/n, thank you!” Sophie called.
I heard Eliot mention something about all of Nate’s sports channels before I closed the door behind me.
It was a few hours later when Sophie called me back over to Nate’s place. I saw that they had really set up shop in his living room, practically begging for his participation. They gave me a quick recap of what happened, Parker and Hardison going to the bank and retrieving the files Kerrigan had, and then Eliot going to the mob’s fake businesses running into some mob people in the process.
Eliot unpacked a duffel, “This is all the stuff I found in the warehouse, in the boxes.”
Clothing and calendars clearly from the ‘80s were tossed around. I laughed as Parker put on a jacket with the largest shoulder pads I had ever seen.
“This stuff hasn’t left the warehouse since the 1980s” Sophie commented.
“I feel like a robot,” Parker swung her arms around while in the jacket.
“Wait, so if these are supposed to be just fake businesses, how come their financials are so squeaky clean?” Sophie asked.
I tilted my head and was about to speak when Nate beat me to it.
“Because they’re fake businesses.” He paused and tried to justify himself a bit before he continued when no one else commented, “Sophie, how do you catch mob guys?”
“Uh, two glasses of Chianti and a story about my grandma in Sicily.”
“How does the government catch mob guys?” He amended.
“Taxes,” multiple people answered.
“Eh, that’s how they got Capone,” Hardison commented.
“That’s how they get everybody,” Sophie added, “they never get you for the crime, they always get you for the taxes. It’s not really fair.”
“So thirty years ago the O’Hares got very smart,” Nate started with his explanation. “You see, they set up all these shell companies: fake sales, fake receipts. They launder all their money through them.”
“And everybody in the family gets a salary,” Hardison realizes. “Yeah, they pay withholding, payroll taxes, pension. It’s all old school.”
“That’s why the businesses are clean,” Eliot adds, “They’re dirty from the inside.”
I found it fascinating how they bounced off each other so easily, it almost seemed like it was rehearsed. Like perhaps they were egging Nate on.
“Well, yeah, if you have a body in the trunk of your car, you’re gonna drive under the speed limit, aren’t you?” Nate explained.
“You know, when you’re sober your metaphors get creepier,” Parker tells him.
“I mean, he’s not wrong though.” Everyone turned towards me and I shrugged.
“But, wait wait,” Hardison interjects, “that still doesn’t explain the last six months of running up bad loans.”
“All from a bank that’s about to close” Sophie mentions.
“Close?” Nate asked. “No, not close. Get bailed out.” Nate stood from where he was perched on his desk and approached us, “Look, we got a banker in the pocket of the mob. Mob takes out bad loans, cleans out the bank, knowing, three days from now, the government’s gonna come along and then, you know, bail the bank out.”
Eliot sat next to me on the couch as Nate stepped to the front of the group as he explained their operation. I smiled at him and how his knee brushed against mine before turning back to Nate.
“I mean, it’s perfect. You know, I don’t even think it’s illegal. It’s…” He paused, looking out the window before turning back to us, “I mean, if we were gonna do this… this job…”
“Just this one job,” Sophie said.
“Yes, just this one… I mean the con you’d wanna do…”
“Hypothetically,” Hardison added.
“Hypothetically, you know, is the turnabout, of course.”
“Ohh, that is a good one!” Sophie cheers.
I looked back and forth from her to Nate. I have never felt so lost.
“You know, it takes five people to do the turnabout,” Eliot mentions.
“That’s true, there's just four of us,” Sophie said.
“And a half,” Eliot glances at me with a shrug, “just saying.”
I smirked as Nate glared at the two of us.
“One more person, hmm,” Parker eggs a bit.
“Yeah, we gotta scare the banker into turning against the mob,” Nate said contemplatively. “Alright. Alright, we’ll do this job, just this one.”
The rest humbly agreed with him, acting as if it were a surprise.
“Hardison, you and Parker, you’re gonna be on the badge,” Nate directed. “Eliot, sheepdog. Sophie-”
“Ice queen!” She completed.
“And I’m the bag man. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go call a professional killer who tried to murder me and arrange to meet him in an isolated location.”
I slowly raised my hand.
“You are going to stay here. You’ll be lucky if you get to participate in this one.”
I sighed, “Fair… I guess. Can you tell me what a turnabout con is?”
“All in due time.” He walked off, presumably to make his phone call.
“See that? He did miss us!” Sophie awed.
“More than he’d like to admit, that’s for sure,” I looked at all of them before adding, “but I didn’t tell you that.”
They all smiled and nodded, Hardison making a zipped lips motion.
Everyone got ready for their respective roles, and while I wasn’t involved, they let me out of the apartment to observe, and maybe help a little. I came along with Hardison, Parker, and Eliot. I waited around the corner until Eliot finished his intimidating stare passing by Leary. When he came around the corner, he handed me a few of the mini explosive charges to help place them on the wall of the bank.
“Hey, this detonator, if I’m around the corner, is it still gonna be in range?” Eliot asked Hardison while we walked away.
“Should be. I haven’t worked out all the kinks yet… Sometimes the things just go off,” Hardison answered.
I blanched a bit, “What?”
Eliot stopped him, “Wait, hey. I thought you said this thing was safe.”
“Mostly. Mostly safe. I was very specific. Sometimes the frequencies get messed up.”
“What frequencies, man? Huh? I got these things in my pants,” Eliot scrambled, reaching into his pockets.
“Like, uh, you know, a garage door opener, a car alarm.”
Just then a woman came out of the bank and accidentally set off her car alarm near us. Eliot and I flinched and I became very aware of the few left over explosives in my hand.
I quickly shoved them into Hardison’s hands, “take them.”
Eliot was still digging them out of his pockets when Parker asked Hardison, “what are the odds that Eliot’s crotch will actually explode?”
“Dammit Hardison,” Eliot exclaimed as he walked off.
I cringed in sympathy while Hardison laughed. He called Sophie to get an update. Everything seemed to be going to plan with Nate and Sophie having an in with the mob and we went to meet them back at Nate’s apartment with the exception of Eliot who would stick around for Leary. He would set off the explosives acting like gunshots once he came out of the bank.
Once Nate came back and it was determined he was no worse for wear, he decided he was going to go visit the Kerrigans.
“Do you want me to come with you?” I asked, while I knew he was much better with hospitals now, it didn’t hurt to have someone with him.
He contemplated for a second before nodding.
Once we arrived at the father’s hospital room, we approached the daughter sitting next to him. Nate said hi first and then introduced me to her. I sat next to her with Nate standing on the other side of the bed.
She was fiddling with a necklace she had on, but stopped when she noticed I had noticed, “Nervous habit.”
I nodded, “what is that?”
She picked it up again to look at it, “St. Brigid. My mother’s name. Dad got it for me after she died.”
“So how are you doing?” Nate asked her after a moment.
Her face twisted in disappointment, “They say the accident is his fault.”
“No,” Nate quickly replied, “No, now listen, your dad, he found some papers at work, and he was trying to figure out what they meant, and he got a little too close to something…”
“No, but it’s not his fault. It was my fault," she insisted.
I placed my hand on her shoulder, “No, no, it wasn’t your fault.”
“He said something was bothering him at work. I told him to call the police, and now… now they…” she trailed off before speaking again. “There are wolves in the world. That’s what dad says, ‘be careful, Zoe. There are wolves in the world.’”
Nate nodded and circled the bed to crouch next to her, “He was not wrong.”
She grasped her father’s hand, “so the world’s just like this, huh? Bad people do bad things, and they always get away with it. Nobody stops them.”
I looked at Nate who had the same grim look on his face as I did. We stayed for a little bit longer, but it soon came time to get back.
The plan was coming to its final act. Hardison passed out new earbuds while explaining that they were more comfortable and even better than before. I put one in and realized that they were more comfortable than I remembered them.
“Okay, if this works, our friend Mr. Leary, he goes to the State Police, he runs, he spills his guts. Eliot, make sure he gets there.”
“I’m on it.”
“Wait, Eliot,” Nate called him, looking at me.
He turned back.
“Take y/n with you. Keep her safe, please. She should be good with surveillance.”
I smiled before following Eliot.
Nate grabbed my arm when I passed, “Be careful.”
“I will.”
We didn’t talk much when watching for Leary. We quickly followed when he got in his car and drove off. Everything seemed to be going great at first. Nate was talking to the O’Hares when Leary started making a few wrong turns if he were going to the police.
“Eliot, where is he going?”
He grunted, “I don’t know yet.”
Soon he pulled into the harbor and we quickly swung around to the other side before following on foot.
“Eliot, y/n, is Leary with the cops? We don’t have a lot of room for error,” Nate asked through the comms.
“Uh, slight problem Nate,” I responded.
“Leary drove down to the waterfront, dumped his car. He’s headin’ right for you.” Eliot tucked me behind him when Leary walked past.
“He was supposed to go to the cops.”
“Well then I don’t know what he’s doing,” Eliot responded to Nate before turning to me. “I’m gonna follow him, you go back to the car, I don’t know what’s going on. Stay safe and out of sight from the mob guys.”
I opened my mouth, but didn’t say anything. I quickly closed it and nodded before turning back towards the car we came in. As much as I wanted to help, I was in way over my head here. On the way to the car, there was a group of mob guys approaching. I quickly ducked behind some junk and debris and held my breath as they passed by my hiding spot. I peeked around to see that there was one who stuck around the area of my escape route. Luckily he was far enough away to not notice me, but if I moved too much, or tried to run, that wasn’t guaranteed.
I whispered, hoping Hardison was right that the comm would pick it up, “Eliot, be careful, there's mob guys coming your way.”
“Okay, guys, it’s not O’Hare,” I heard Nate through my comm.
“What?” Sophie asked.
“Uh, no. O’Hare is not the boss is what I’m saying.”
“No. This whole con was built around O’Hare.”
“Ooh, they’re probably gonna shoot Nate in the face,” Parker said.
“Uh, Parker, I can hear you.”
I bit my lip, trying not to make a sound. I kept peeking around to see that the mob guy was still there, just smoking a cigarette leisurely.
Parker apologized as Sophie emphasized our predicament.
“Alright, listen, we’re gonna have to make this one up as we go.”
I listened as Nate talked to O’Hare and Leary, trying to smooth over some wrinkles. I peeked out again to see the guy had finished his cigarette and walked off in the same direction as the previous group. I waited for him to pass and get far enough away before dashing off to the car. Luckily there was nobody else in the way of me getting further from the warehouse. I slipped in the car with a sigh of relief and locked myself in. I eagerly listened to my comm to find out what was going on.
There was some grunting and rustling that seemed to come from Eliot, “Alright, alright!”
“Eliot?” I asked, “Are you okay?”
I only heard an intentional hum in reply before Eliot whispered to someone, “You better know what you’re doing.”
There was a beat before Nate called, “Hey, hey, he’s got a state trooper badge!”
I could hear other people talking, but not what they were saying before Eliot whispered a “woah.”
Then I heard more clearly from O’Hare, “you kill him. I fixed Kerrigan’s breaks, I’m not killing a cop!”
“Look, you screwed up Kerrigan!” Leary replied.
“No, uh, he’s right. You’re right. He’s-” Nate stuttered along before he was cut off by what sounded like gunshots.
I yelled, “Nate? Eliot? Guys, what’s going on?!”
Hardison responded in my ear, “it’s all good, just stay put, we got this.”
Sophie started speaking in character, “has he got a wire? Come on Ford, get with it! Check him for a wire!”
I sighed in relief, they’ve got this.
“Yes, right on it,” Nate responded.
“This isn’t how we do it in Boston,” I heard O’Hare say.
“Really? This is exactly how we do it in London, except we usually use a razor blade.”
I shivered at the connotation, Sophie could be scary while in character.
“No wire… He has his cellphone though!” Nate called.
“Hit redial, see who he called,” Sophie said to Leary once he said there was no speed dial number saved. “Leary, right? Annie Kroy,” Sophie introduced herself, “nice little number with the banks there. It’s a shame the rest of your operation’s a bit of a balls-up.”
I heard someone’s phone ringing before Leary asked, “O’Hare? Why was a cop’s last phone call to you?”
I was confused too, I thought back and Eliot never called O’Hare. I realized though, that Nate was supposed to call O’Hare after Eliot and I left. Nate must have given them his phone instead!
“This is… This is a setup,” O’Hare tried to explain.
“How is this a setup?” Leary asked. “She shot the cop.”
“Yeah, and he’s the one that dialed the phone,” Sophie added.
“You didn’t want us to shoot him either, did you?” Leary accused, “Why, did you know him?”
“It wasn’t like that! Come on, you know I was in this thing from the beginning.”
I smiled hearing them bicker and turn on each other. This team sure does know how to create chaos.
“Why… why would I be involved?”
Leary called for his people to follow him, so I assumed O’Hare ran away.
Eliot stashed the car in a spot where I could see Hardison and Parker peel around the corner towards the warehouse where it sounded like they picked up O’Hare. I listened as they got O’Hare to admit to the bank fraud, Leary’s part in it, as well as the Kerrigan hit.
“Yes!” I cheered, “Hardison, did you record that?”
I heard it played back in my ear as a confirmation.
“Those were the state cops who questioned me!” Leary was back in the warehouse, supposedly with Sophie and Nate.
“Well, do they got any evidence?” Sophie asked.
“No, no, nothing real, just O’Hare’s word against mine.”
“And no documents?”
“No. No, no, I have those. But Kerrigan saw them.”
“And there’s just one problem,” Nate said, “we’re screwed if he wakes up.”
“He won’t,” Leary replied, “Kerrigan’s the last loose end. I’ll take care of him myself.”
“Hey, hey! Whoa, whoa, wait. What about him?”
“Him? Hey, I never touched him. Your fingerprints are all over him. I’ll clean up my mess, you clean up yours.”
I scoffed at how much of a scummy guy Leary was, “Did he really just say that?”
“Afraid so, y/n,” Nate replied. “So, how’d you do it?”
I heard a grunt from Eliot, “Detonator… Ketchup.”
“Ah, the classics.”
“Is that what those gunshots were?” I asked.
“Yes, dear, Eliot had a lovely death scene,” Sophie answered excitedly.
Eliot met me back at the car, sliding into the driver's seat.
“Are you okay?” I asked one more time.
He smiled at me, “Yeah, I might be a little sore, but fine.” He looked down at his chest, “need a new shirt though.”
I looked at his shirt, and sure enough, he had holes and ketchup everywhere causing me to laugh.
“Were you okay?” He asked me as he put the car in drive.
“Yeah, just had to play hide and seek with some mob guys before getting here, but all good. I was entertained listening to the whole affair from here.”
He rolled his eyes with a smirk as we drove back to the apartment.
It was a few days later when Kerrigan was well enough to come into the pub where Nate handed over a check. It was from the IRS for Kerrigan finding the tax fraud. He thanked us and started to walk away, but Zoe stayed for a moment.
She hugged me and then Nate, thanking us as well. “There are wolves in the world,” she said while looking at all of us, “but sometimes they’re the good guys, I guess.” She took Nate’s hand and placed what I saw was her necklace in it.
Nate admired it after she walked away.
“Still your last job?” Sophie asked him.
“Well, uh, maybe, um” Nate stumbled over his words, “I mean, you know, until I find a job I like enough, you know, to stay out of the bars.”
“Idle hands are the devil’s workshop,” Hardison said.
“And then I’m out, I’m done.”
The others agreed half heartedly, as if they didn’t believe him. For the record, I didn’t either. Eliot, Parker, and Hardison left, and I followed shortly after, leaving Nate and Sophie alone. It was a crazy life they all led, and I couldn’t help but think I couldn’t wait until the next time.
I climbed the stairs and glanced at Nate’s door to see it slightly ajar. Curious, I pushed it open and peaked in. Inside I saw Hardison start to set up some TVs.
“Hello?”
He looked up at me, “Oh, hey! You wanna come help me level this?”
I approached cautiously, but helped nevertheless, “What are these for?”
“These are awesome for briefings and watching cameras, sports too.”
“Where’s Parker and Eliot?”
“She’s grabbing some stuff, Eliot’s working next door.”
“Next door-”
The door opened and shut and I looked over to see Nate walk in.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa! What are you doing there?” He said once he saw us.
“I’m runnin’ this CAT-5 cable to the-”
“Oh, no, no, no, no. You don’t understand. I don’t want to have these monitors in my apartment,” he explained before turning to me, “and why are you helping him?”
I shrugged, “I just didn’t ask questions.”
“Coming through!” Parker came in holding a large painting.
Nate backtracked towards her, “No! Parker, no! Not that painting! I don’t ever want to see that painting.”
Parker stopped and waved it in front of her as she spoke in a funny voice, “Hi, I’m old Nate and I live here too!”
“You can’t just break in here and start hanging stuff…”
Hardison stopped him, “For repairs and renovations, your landlord has full access to your dwellings. It’s in the lease.”
That made me pause, “What?”
“What are you doing reading my lease?”
“I bought the building!”
“You bought the…”
“You’re our landlord?” I hesitantly fist bumped Hardison when he offered it.
I flinched when a chainsaw noise started and followed Nate when he found where the noise was coming from. The chainsaw was coming from the other side of the wall through to Nate’s apartment.
Nate repeated no when he saw what was happening, but it was futile. Eliot walked in after cutting out a makeshift door covered in sawdust. He looked very proud of himself, but with the cloud of dust that came out, I couldn’t react other than sneeze.
Nate coughed before turning to me, “why didn’t they do this to your apartment? You’re the one who wanted them around.”
“Whoa,” Eliot said.
“We’re not gonna crash a lady’s apartment,” Hardison finished as if it were a no-brainer.
I huffed out a laugh and a shrug, not fighting it when Hardison and Parker wrapped their arms around Nate and I’s shoulders. What a day.
[ID: Sketch of Eliot Spencer with long hair and in a sleeveless top, tied to an upright chair with his hands bound behind it and his neck held to the back of the chair with a thick leather band. He has blood and bruises visible on his face. In the background, beyond him, is Alexandra Bligh walking towards him and talking, and in the foreground is a close up of someone drawing a bright red liquid from a vial into a syringe. Black bars above and below the sketch is the text 'COMPOUND 002 -- 15 % w/v' and 'DOSE # 1 12/26/22 -- 17.04', respectively. End ID]
-
Day 15: Experimentation
Bligh makes a deal with some high ups in the FBI or CIA, gets released in order to oversee and run experiments into more effective methods for torture and interrogation using untraceable chemicals. Each experiment is recorded visually as well as notes taken.
Ficlet below the cut - part 2 of the three-parter started on Day 8
-
Parker hated the velvet softness of the night. Almost as much as she hated the glimmering stars that broke the darkness like thousands of unattainable diamonds.
How dare the evening be so peaceful and calm and beautiful when Eliot was in so much pain?
Or probably in pain.
He wasn’t dead. He couldn’t be dead. He had promised not to leave her and he wouldn't break a promise.
But they knew by now who had him and why, and it was impossible that Eliot was enjoying anything less than torment.
Because that was the point.
That was why they took him.
Using Hardison’s hacking access, they had managed to find out who took Eliot after almost two weeks of searching, and what they found was horrifying.
Alexandra Bligh, released before ever really getting to jail, had been extremely active.  Expenses that took some digging to find revealed rental payments for a building on a private island off the east coast, the hiring of a complete security team and of several scientists from within various government institutes, and purchase orders of chemical ingredients for some of the most brutal enhanced interrogation drugs currently in existence.
The funding had come from within government, through several layers of secrecy, but ultimately under the ordinance of a former member of the CIA. Someone who Vance - after being made to understand that Eliot was in severe danger - revealed had worked with Eliot on some classified operations under his command.
The funds had been transferred under the name of an operation that had very little digital trace, beyond the purpose, whose lengthy wording boiled down to: design new chemical means for breaking people, and the person in charge: Alexandra Bligh.
Hardison had researched the components while his and Breanna’s programs worked to search for Eliot, and privately told Parker what he thought they would do.
Like red haze mixed with toxins designed variously to trigger pain receptors, alter the threshold for pain and other unpleasant stimuli, and cause something called central sensitization, which Parker didn’t understand but it sounded bad.
Hardison’s simplified summary sounded worse. All the memory and sensation heightening effects of red haze, but now with added very real and very strong pain.
They were using Eliot Spencer as the test subject to develop more brutal, untraceable, methods of enhanced interrogation.
And all that on an island almost inaccessible by any stealthy means.
Now Parker was standing with Breanna on a dock in the darkness, waiting for Dr Not-Dead-Paul to bring around the boat they’d need to get to the island. They'd called him in to help in the recovery mission, in part because they needed someone trustworthy who could fight, and in part because they didn't know what state they'd find Eliot in. Having a medic who Eliot knew on hand could prove very useful.
It was Paul who suggested Harry and Sophie remain behind. Having been told what they believed Eliot had been kidnapped for, he cautioned against having too many people around at the point of rescue. Only the three of them needed for the rescue itself - Breanna to stay in the boat or just beside the building, using the proximity to get into their servers and then guide Parker and Paul to where Eliot was, and the thief and temporary hitter would then break him out and escape.
“What if you need more muscle to get out and Eliot can’t fight?” Breanna asked nervously, watching the headlights of the boat as it approached, “Shouldn’t we call in another hitter? Bligh looks like she hired a hell of a lotta security...”
“No time,” Parker watched beyond the boat into the darkness that hid Eliot somewhere inside it, “And Eliot will be able to fight.”
“He’s been tortured for weeks…”
“He’s been shot, stabbed, beaten, drugged, poisoned, and hit by cars, trucks and carnival rides, and still been able to fight. He’ll be fine.”
"Parker's right," Paul said, and Parker thought he sounded sad, "Eliot can handle being tortured. And, usually before, he’s had to fight his way out alone. No team to back him up."
"But he does this time," Parker smiled at Breanna and hoped it looked reassuring, "Eliot's going to be fine."
He had to be fine.
Like Paul said, Eliot had been through torture before, and probably for much longer than this. He’d been injured physically and tormented mentally more than enough times for this to be almost meaningless.
In theory.
But theory didn’t stop her being on edge and upset and angry at the beautiful night.
Here's some leverage ot3 propaganda straight from the episode transcripts:
Parker: What did you do?
Eliot: Don't ask me that, Parker. (looks at her apologetically) Because if you ask me, I'm gonna tell you. So please don't ask me.
(Parker nods)
-The Big Bang Job
Eliot: It was a good thing it was us. The two of us, we do things they can't. Won't.
Parker: Does that make us bad?
Eliot: It makes us... us.
-The Long Way Down Job
Parker: You have to make it through this... Because... Because you're my friend, and I need you. Do you hear me, Alec? I need you! (Alec is Hardisons first name)
-The Grave Danger Job
(Eliot and Hardison embrace)
Eliot: Never do that again, man. Don't do that again.
Hardison: Cool. I won't.
-The Grave Danger Job
Hardison: I-I never would have made it through that without you. You know that, right, Parker?
Parker: Oh, that's not true. Anyone can learn to hold their breath.
(Hardison leans in and gives her a lingering kiss to the cheek)
Hardison: Thanks for not hanging up the phone.
-The Grave Danger Job
Eliot: Hey, listen to me. You’re smartest man I’ve ever known, Hardison.
Parker: We agreed we all change. Better or worse, we change together. -The Run Down Job
(Hardison cries out in pain. Eliot spits blood)
Hardison: Did Eliot make it?
Eliot (scrambles for his hand): Here I am. Age of the geek, brother.
(they both shake with pain and can barely speak. Parker cries and takes Eliot’s hand)
-The Long Goodbye Job
Sophie: Promise me, (looks at others) you'll keep them safe.
Eliot: Till my dying day.
Nate: You know, Eliot, I'd say call if you need anything, but you never... never need anything.
Eliot: Yeah, I did. (looks at Parker and Hardison) And thanks to you, I don't have to search anymore.
-The Long Goodbye Job
Hardison (about Eliot): You see that cowboy? Man, for the last 12 years I've seen him risk his life to save hundreds of innocent people who will never know his name, all that he still gets up, you know what he says? 'I still got more to do.'
-The Too Many Rembrandts Job
they mean everything to me <3
i dont have enough hours in the day to consume all the media everyone keeps convincing me to help
The Morning After Job is kinda wild.
They make the mark think he killed Parker - most death scenes I believe involve them pretending someone else did it - and Parker has to actually play her own corpse. She may or may not be asleep.
Parker has to distract the FBI agent who believes she's an FBI agent while still wearing corpse makeup.
Parker has to seduce a guy. She later makes the guy freak out by turning up tp his court case after he thinks he killed her.
Hardison makes their cop aliases so tight that he managed to get them a real squad car. They then get derailed because they're asked to take a witness to jail. THEN because those aliases are air tight that they got a real car they also get the radio alert of a fight and decided to take it (Eliot's worried about kids which is very fair but also).
Tumblr media
Then they get derailed AGAIN because the guy they're transporting escapes and they decide they can't take him to the jail cause he testified against dirty cops and they might kill him. Parker later puts him in the trunk of said FBI agent.
If you haven't seen this in a while I should clarify that when I say 'derailed' I mean they're supposed to be getting a file to Sophie and she cannot do her part in conning the mark without it.
We get a scene with Eliot fighting people in the dark. Not wild just cool.
Parker has to go out the window to catch up with that FBI guy and doesn't say anything about the harness in Nate's closet purely because she has at least 3 in hers and is the only one "what you don't have one of these in your closet?" would work on.
Nate has bug pictures on his wall? Like those could have been put there for the con but there's limited time and that seems a hassle cause they're really big photos. Why?
Someone tries to snipe the mark.
Parker begins to discover a love of tasing people.
Tumblr media
None of them can agree on the name of the con.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And they need to get everything done before the court case so all of this is happening within like. 24hrs tops? Less if we ignore the time the guy's sleeping.
I just haven't seen this one in a long time and I forgot it was kinda wild.
The Gala Job
Tumblr media
Eliot Spencer x Reader
*NSFW in chapter 3
Description: You are sent to charm the team's target on the final leg of the current job. You get in a sticky situation that Eliot has to get you out of. After the job your feelings for Eliot become undeniable, but surely he doesn't feel the same, right?
Smut in the 3rd chapter, a fade to black ending at the end of the 2nd if that's not your thing.
• • •
Your job this time wasn’t to fit in though, you were here to stand out, and that you did. You wore a velvet dress that hugged your figure tightly before flowing out at your legs. Adorned with matching jewelry, you certainly weren’t comfortable, but you definitely stood out among the crowd.
Usually it fell to Sophie to charm her way through a case, but she had already had a run in with Mr. Whitehall and you couldn’t risk him catching on this late in the game. All you had to do was get his flash drive, have Parker make a copy, and escape. It had all of the evidence you would need to bring both Edgar Whitehall and Apex Systems Limited to justice.
The room is buzzing with idle gossip and far too much champagne. You try to subtly keep an eye on the whole room spotting Parker in the server’s uniform to your left, Nate in the opposite corner of the room from you, nursing a drink he probably wishes was whiskey, and Eliot in a simple, flattering suit by the door, acting as a security guard, surrounded by several older women who were almost as enamored by his southern charm as you were.
Spotting your target at the bar, you gracefully head that way. You hear Sophie in your earpiece “Now slowly approach and place your hand between his shoulder blades. Pretend not to notice until after you order your drink.”
You did as she said and gently placed your hand on his upper back as you flagged down the bartender. “I’ll have a vodka soda, please.”
You remove your hand from Whitehall and turn towards him, now having sufficiently caught his attention, “I am so sorry about that, Mr.” you trailed off waiting for him to supply you with his last name.
“Whitehall, Edgar Whitehall. Please just call me Edgar.” He pauses for a second placing a hand on your arm. “Now, what may I call you my dear?”
The touch sent a shiver down your spine and not in a butterflies kind of way, but still, you kept up the act. “Y/N.” The bartender places your drink in front of you, you pick it up with a nod and place a tip down on the bar.
“Well, Y/N, would you join me at my table? I am starved of pleasant conversation at these events and starved even further of pleasant company.” He holds out his arm for you to loop yours around, and reluctantly you do. You let him lead the way, using the distraction to reach into his pocket and grab the USB.
As you sit down next to him, you sneak the flash drive into your purse and hear Hardison chime in through your earpiece, “Great job. Now hang on tight and keep him talking.” That one may be easier said than done.
You tried to make pleasant conversation with him, asking about his work, telling him lies about yours, waiting for an opportunity to present itself. Soon Parker approached, offering complimentary wine to the people around you.
As she approached you and Edgar, she pretended to trip, spilling pinot noir all over his suit. You felt bad for Parker as he started to berate her, but were able to cut him off while keeping up the act. “Edgar, I believe there is a bathroom just down the hall, why don’t we go get you cleaned up?”
He looked frustrated but turned it off in a way that seemed disturbingly calculated. “I certainly can’t turn down the opportunity to have you alone Y/N”
You could hear the others discussing the drive in your earpiece as you slid his jacket off and started to try to get the stains out of his shirt first. If you could drag this out long enough, you should be in the clear. Until then, you dabbed the wine out of the shirt with a wet washcloth. There was no shot in hell of this stain coming out, but there was nothing else to do until the team was ready for you.
Once you got the green light from the team, you started wrapping things up with Whitehall. “I’m sorry Edgar, but I think we may have to just get you a new shirt altogether. I really should get back out there” You slid his jacket over your arm to carry back to your seat, hoping to slide the flash drive sneakily back into his pocket once you got back to your chairs.
Much to your chagrin, he took the jacket and slid it back on. As you head back to your chairs, he starts to panic “Where is it? I know I had it with me tonight.”
“What’s wrong Edgar?”
“I had a thumb drive in this pocket and now it's gone. I lost it.”
You calm your breathing. You can handle this. “I’m sure it’s around here somewhere. Let’s just notify security and get back to our seats. I’m sure someone will find it”
“No, that’s not good enough.” He started to spiral. “ Maybe it’s in the bathroom or on the floor. Maybe someone stole it.” He froze, and turned on his heel to face you. Getting in your face and backing you into the wall he accused “You took it didn’t you? My father always said you couldn’t trust the pretty ones”
You tried to plead with him, “I didn’t take anything. It probably got lost in the commotion. I’m sure everything is fine.”
He spoke over you “Don’t try to tell me everything is fine.” You saw him raise his hand to hit you, but before you had a chance to process it, he was laying on the floor, out cold. You glance up to see Eliot smiling at you, only his hair out of place.
“Ma’am” he offers his hand to you in an obnoxiously chivalrous move to guide you over Whitehall’s sleeping body.
“I could have handled him myself” you huff as you head back to grab your purse. You sneak the flash drive back into his jacket pocket and hope he doesn’t remember a damn thing about this night.
Eliot and you both exit the gala. "I didn’t need you to save me, Spencer. I can handle myself.” You storm off ahead of him.
“He was going to hit you Y/N. I’m sure you can handle yourself, but you were cornered”
“I was handling things Eliot” you spat with a venom you didn’t really mean, but it was frustrating to not be trusted to take care of things. “Why were you even following so closely after us anyways?”
“I was just looking after you darling, besides –”
“I am not your darling”
You don’t quite hear Eliot whisper “Not yet”
Suddenly you hear Nate’s voice in your ear “Guys!”
“Sorry” you and Eliot say in unison as you walk up to Lucille. Getting in, you see everyone already seated and ready to head out.
You were grabbing drinks to celebrate another job well done, but you were far over dressed. As Hardison parked out front, the others piled out of the van, leaving you and Eliot to change into outfits more fitting of an Irish pub.
You both turned your backs as you grabbed your spare clothes to change “Sorry for snapping at you El. I know you were just trying to help.”
“Nah. I’m sorry Y/N. I should have trusted you to handle things. I know you are more than capable of handling a single man in a fight.”
“Thanks,” you said softly as you struggled with the zipper on your dress. “Um, Eliot, would you mind?” you asked, glancing behind you to see him shirtless and in jeans. That is a sight you could get used to.
“Of course darlin’” he said, stepping behind you softly. You don’t object to the term of endearment this time, smiling softly to yourself at hearing it.
Eliot undoes the zipper, certainly slower than was necessary, doing everything in his power to avoid staring at you. God did he just want to stare at you for hours, but he peeled his eyes away. Tur ning back to his own clothes.
“That dress looked great on you by the way” he said as he buttoned up his shirt.
You can almost feel your walls go back up as you say “I’m not quite that easy Spencer.” You wished you believed he meant it, but he often just flirted for flirting's sake, though you could hardly judge in that regard.
“I mean it. No one in that room could take their eyes off of you.”
You brush it off with a scoff as you both exit Lucille and head into the pub.
Okay. I’ll bite. Sorry if I’ve asked before and forgot. But what is leverage?
No worries! I'm always happy to explain stuff (And I don't think you've asked about it before)
Leverage is an American tv show that started in 2008 and is centered around one guy (Nate) who works for an insurance company hunting down thieves or something. (I have no idea what his official job title is)
Anyways, he quits the insurance company because Reasons And Drama, and then gets recruited to run a heist with several criminals: Parker (Thief), Hardison (Hacker), and Eliot (Hitter/Guy Who Punches People). There's also a character named Sophie who's a Grifter/Conwoman.
Anyways, things go as they go and eventually the crew decides that their talents are better used to help people than stealing things for their own profit. This is where the title comes in, as they work to provide leverage for people who don't have the money and resources to protect themselves from Big Companies and Rich People.
I really like it because it's just silly and fun and the good guys always win. The bad guys who hurt people might seem like they're going to win for a moment, but in the end they always lose and the innocent get what they deserve.
