Happy 11th Birthday, Flynnie!!

Birthday boy enjoyed a run around in the buttercup field & some birthday snacks!

#Flynn's not been diagnosed with kidney disease but he only has 1 kidney. So 50% kidney function at best #Now he's a senior vet recommended Flynn go on a boring “renal diet” as a precaution. Renal diet = low protein...#Unfortunately dog treats tend to be high protein... so a lot of them are off the menu now #today I searched & found a couple of types of treats which are only 7-11% protein - so should be OK as an occasional snack!#Flynn seemed to enjoy them too - yay!!#flynn #border collie #dog #rescue dog #birthday #spring #treats

I wish there were more restaurants with affordable prix fixe or tasting menus. I would love for nice but not ridiculously fancy restaurants to basically say "here is what we're sure is good today, you can eat that or maybe one or two other things. Otherwise come back in 2-3 days and see if that's more interesting."

#I just want (a) cooks and chefs to get creative or think outside of the box; (b) menus that reflect changing seasons #I want you to have a seasonal menu! foods are better at different times of the year!#I would love restaurants to serve root vegetables and stews in the winter and then spring greens in the early summer #really lean into pickling and preserving; meats from animals in different developmental stages #obviously the fact that we can get access to so many different foods out of season is an incredible gift #(it involves labor and more bodies at work than I can contemplate without going mad)#but still. I think we should be occasionally reminded that chicagoans should not be able to eat bananas in february.#...........and (c) I want someone who isn't me to do all this.#no love sincerer than the love of food

I can’t decide if rui would be more averse to meiko mandated therapy or meiko mandated vegetable eating. On one hand he’s allergic to processing his own emotions but on the other hand he’s decided to die on the hill of not eating vegetables.

we had one (1) week of warm weather and it changed on a dime right when i got extremely tired of it but it was so nice to see bright sunshine again after a very unusual winter 🌞

thinking about yellowjackets and how it’s only been like 8 months before they ate someone but they still have 11 more months to go, they still have a second winter to go...

My birthday is this week and my aunt uncle and cousins are coming for the weekend and my sister and brother in law are flying in for a week on Friday too. Can you tell I’m a big deal
