Yikes! Here's a 1972 mid-century modern estate called "Utopia." It's in Denver, Colorado, has 5bds, 7ba, and is $5.3M + $13mo ($150yr.) HOA fee (and I can proudly say that I can afford the HOA fee.)

A/N: would you believe me if I told you this was supposed to be a completely different fic, but I got too caught up in Steve taking care of her? So here’s this love letter to my beloved Steve Harrington.

Cold AC is the only thing forgiving about working at Family Video during the summer. She could be out shopping with Max, or swimming with Robin, but no, she’s stuck in Family Videos horror section putting away returns.

Sweat trickles down her neck as she looks for the correct spot to put Gremlins, eyes scanning over the rows and rows of G horror movies. Keith insisted that they keep the movies in alphabetical order.

“Goddammit,” It comes out as a murmur, not wanting to disturb Robin and Steve, not wanting to pass her bad mood to her innocent coworkers, but ultimately she gives up, stuffing it between Godzilla: King of The Monster and Godzilla Raids Again.

It’s so hot in this goddamn store, she’s afraid the tapes will melt. Can they do that?

The heat seeps into her head making her brain foggy, so she grabs a new tape and sinks to her knees for a little reprieve.

When was the last time she drank water?

Alien. The new tape she grabbed is Alien, and she’s on the ground kneeling next to the fucking Z section. Her forehead makes slow contact with the metal holding the movies, it’s warm, and the VHS cover of Alien sitting in her lap mocks her. Bold, white, A, reminding her that she needs to stand up.

Someone cruelly flicks cold water onto her neck. She tenses up rigidly before turning her head.

“You hot, baby?” Steve stands over her, stainless steel water bottle popped open guiltily. “You feelin okay?”

The ice sloshes as he crouches next to her, gently ripping Alien from her grip, and looking at the big fat Z painted over the section she’s sitting in.

His big warm hand comes up to her forehead. “Have you drank enough water today? It’s really hot in here.”

“No.”

“No?” He hands his water bottle to her, mumbling “Drink a little more.” when she pulls it from her lips, and smiling when she listens.

“Let’s take lunch break.”

“What about Rob?”

Steve looks around the empty store warily. “I think Rob’ll manage.”

“You think?”

“Definitely.” The kiss he presses to her forehead is warm, but not unwelcome. She leans into his touch, frowning when he pulls back to help her up.

The employees only room is significantly cooler than the rest of the store. A box fan, that Steve bought, rests in the corner. Goosebumps rise to the skin of her arms immediately, and Steve smiles at the way she shivers.

“What’d you bring for lunch, babe?” He pulls a strand of sweat sticky hair from her forehead.

She shy’s away from his hand, “Forgot.”

“My girl forgot her lunch?” He tsks, pulling out the brown sack of lunch he brought today. “Are you hungry?”

“A little.” She could cry at the way Steve is treating her right now, with such love and affection.

“Enough for a sandwich? Or just my chips?”

“I don’t wanna eat your lunch, Stevie.”

“Please.”

“What will you eat?”

Steve knows she won’t eat his food, not unless he eats with her, and he doesn’t want to be the reason guilt gnaws at her stomach. “You get half the sandwich and I’ll get the other half, okay?”

She looks hesitant.

“And I’ll share the chips. God forbid you eat the whole bag without me.”

She doesn’t smile very much, and he wasn’t expecting her to, but the twitch in the corner of her lips is a success in his books.

“Come sit on my lap.” She shakes her head no. “At least sit next to me.”

She moves to pull her chair out, but he moves quicker and pulls it closer to him. Steve recounts an old story as they eat together. Her soft responds in all the right places gets him every time.

“-And he was in the kitchen mixing a drink!”

“But he told you he was out of town? That’s so rude.”

“Exactly!”

When they’re almost finished, he fishes the rest of the zips out of the bag and dumps them on her zip lock bag, accepting it when she lifts one up to his mouth. He lifts one up to her mouth and she turns her head.

“Um, no? You can’t feed me but deny me feeding you? Eat the chip.“

She giggles at the offense dripping from his voice, turning her head farther away. He grabs her cheeks in his left hand, managing to get her to look at him, while his right hand holds the chip.

“Eat the chip.”

Her shoulders are shaking with silent giggles as he looks at her very mock sternly.

“Eat it.” He bites back a laugh.

She accepts the chip into her mouth, letting her giggles get louder when he drops his hand from her face. A fond smile works it’s way onto his lips as he watches her laugh.

“There’s my smiley girl, where’s she been?”

“Waiting in the AC.”

“Oh, makes sense. Will she come out with me to finish putting the horror returns away?”

“I’m putting the horror returns away, you’re doing romance.”

“What? I can’t help you and then do my own?”

“Keith will get mad.”

“Keith’s always mad about something.”

She huffs out indignantly, looking away. Steve can’t stand the couple seconds that her eyes aren’t on him. He taps her cheek twice.

“Let me come help, please? If not for your sake, for Keith’s sake. I’m sure he doesn’t want to see Alien in the Z section.”

He can’t help but laugh when he watches her jaw drop. “You’re using that against me? I was hot. I was dying from..”

“Heatstroke?”

“Heatstroke!”

“Heat exhaustion?”

“Maybe!”

He giggles boyishly. It drips with a sticky fondness that has her facade crumbling.

“C’mere.” He reaches his arms out wide for her, and this time she doesn’t deny him of her sitting on his lap. Arms wrapped around each other languidly, their shirts cling to each other’s sweaty skin. “Gimme a kiss.”

She doesn’t deny him of that either.

“You gotta tell me when you’re not feeling so hot.” He rests his forehead to her temple.

“I was feeling really hot.”

His nose nudges hers, “You know what I mean.”

She nods, closing her eyes and accepting the kiss he presses to the corner of her mouth.

“Jus’ wanna take care of you.”

She wraps her arms a little tighter around his neck, nuzzling her nose into the side of his neck. She wishes she could kiss it. She does.

He preens delightedly, so she does it again.

“Love you.”

“Love you more.”

He presses her lips into her hair, silently shaking his head no.

“Oh my god, are you for real?” They look up to see Robin standing in the doorway, lunch box in hand. “How could you cuddle in these temperatures? Fucking disgusting I tell you.”

She sits across from them, shoving their lunch garbage out of the way to stick her own down.

“Oh yeah, just move our shit Robs.”

“Okay.” She pushes the chip bag away from her.

The look he gives Y/N is coated in bafflement, but he can’t keep it on his face when he sees her shoulders shaking in silent giggles again. He leans down to press a sticky kiss to her lips.

a girl responsible for one death could stay in town, hunting accidents were more common than anyone would ever like to say. a girl responsible for two deaths can go anywhere else in the world but home. college turned into a flight attendant training program. the unpredictability of the schedule keeping her from having to look at the legacy that she’d destroyed in the face. the new york hub allowed for plenty of international flights, months where she could do nothing but throw a suitcase down and sleep. her dad always says he’s proud of her, hangs the postcards of her travels on a big map in the brewery labeled where will ivy grow? he remarried, found a new wife and there’s stepbrother is somewhere to pick up what bobby no longer could. there is enough in mount airy to suggest that she should stay away, lest some dark part of her befall the new family, ruin what’s been put back together. while new york is hardly home, and the number of people who know her last name can be counted on her fingers, it’s the best she deserves— connection a dangerous thought, self-sabotage an art form she has mastered.

“Okay, everyone got sunscreen on? Hats?” 

Jasper chose this exact moment to pull on his; luckily, it had little straps that secured it around his pudgy little chin. Max handed him off to Daniel who grabbed him and showed him towards his beach toys, distracting him from an impending hat crisis. 

A chorus of “Yes, mama!” echoed back at Max while he glanced across six heads (plus three that technically didn’t belong to him but still counted) to check if they were telling the truth. “Alright, nobody step on a jellyfish. And remember to drink water!”

The last words were already lost as the horde of children (or teenagers, actually, he supposed) swarmed out to cause mayhem somewhere else. 

“Leah darling, take the good hat,” Nico fussed, “The UV-protection one.”

Leah rolled her eyes at him. “Mama, it’s so ugly.”

“Sunburn is even uglier, and it’ll give you wrinkles!” Nico was already reaching for the sun lotion again, “Your skin can get really sensitive after your first heat-”

“Mama-” Leah’s cheeks darkened as she glanced around shyly. Max gave her a sympathetic smile. Next to him, Isabel acted like she hadn’t heard but Max could tell she was just pretending. Max still hadn’t quite gotten used to her broad shoulders, her big frame, how muscular and tall she was now. She was Michael’s daughter after all, and now, post-presentation, she looked it as well. The many hours of her crying from pain as her body pulled itself into its new proportions before and during her first rut were still fresh on Max’s mind.

Nico, meanwhile, was dabbing more sunscreen on Leah’s nose while Lewis handed her a fancy, stainless steel-cooler bottle of water. 

Sometimes, Max wondered if it was better or worse for his children that he simply didn’t have the time to be this attentive with them.

Michael, who had just finished setting up the beach tent for Jasper, stepped next to Isabel and wrapped his arm around her shoulder, talking to her in a low tone. Isabel was almost as tall as him now. Max couldn’t make out what Michael was saying; he sounded gentle but authoritative. Max guessed it had to do with Leah, and Isabel’s behavior around her, because even though Isabel was nodding dutifully, she was also blushing. 

It was a tricky situation with these two. 

They’d always been best friends, and of course, there’d been the occasional “Aw, they’ll get mated when they’re older!” comments from older relatives. When Isabel had told Daniel, at seven, that naturally she would get married to Leah, they had dismissed it as a cute thing a child would say. 

But over the years, their friendship had stayed so strong that it now felt almost inevitable. They’d gone from Isabel’s wall being absolutely covered in drawings Leah had done for her at ten, to Isabel picking flowers for Leah everytime she came over at twelve, to Isabel confessing to Max that they’d shared a tiny kiss at fourteen, to… this.

A few months ago, Leah had presented, and almost immediately after, they could tell Isabel was on her way to her own first rut like a domino. 

While Riley wasn’t there yet, Isabel’s body had rushed her into her first rut as if to keep up with Leah. Massive growth spurts, mood swings and hormonal acne had plagued her for weeks until it finally happened. As far as teenage ruts went, she’d been easy to have, and both Michael and Daniel had taken great care of her, giving her guidance and an outlet for her aggressions when she needed it. Meanwhile, Max had done a lot of very dubious laundry which he did not want to think about too hard. 

Anyway.

The first time Leah and Isabel were allowed to meet up again after both of their presentations, both had to douse themselves in scent neutralizers. However, what had been more or less obvious for years now had become clear instantly for everyone with a nose: they were, indeed, meant to be. 

It was very sweet, very romantic, and also mildly stressful for all the parents involved, because even though Leah and Isa were probably two of the most responsible teenagers Max had ever experienced, they were still just that: teenagers. So there had been many a conversation about boundaries, about open doors, curfews and the consequences of an accidental mating. Nico and Lewis had provided Leah with the pill, while Daniel had supplied an XXL pack of condoms for Isabel (which had almost killed her from embarrassment) and bite guards. 

So far, it seemed like they were trying to behave. 

Finally, Nico let Leah go, and she dashed away from her parents’ grips to grab Isabel’s hand and pull her away so they could play volleyball together.

Max laughed, and reached out to smudge a streak of sunscreen on Riley’s shoulder. He tanned like Daniel, even and gold, making him look beautifully sun-kissed. Riley was pretty enough that it gave Daniel nightmares about what would happen once he presented, with Riley being as sensitive as he was. Hopefully, they were still a long way away from that. 

“Ri!” Jakob had broken away from Evie, Flynn and Luna, who were currently on the hunt for seashells and possibly even disgusting things, and was hopping up and down in front of Riley, flapping his hands excitedly. “I think there’s a seashell buried in the sand, one of the pink ones you like so much, help me dig it up!”

Riley let out a little noise that Max knew meant he really wasn’t feeling it, but obviously couldn’t bring himself to say no to Jakob.

“I’ll help you, buddy,” Daniel chimed in, picking up on the vibe as well. “I think we’ll let Riley read for a little and then he can join us when he wants to. We’ll dig up the prettiest seashell for him in the meantime.” He stood from his space next to Jasper, who was happily digging a hole in the sand with his little shovel.

Max shot Daniel a grateful smile; Daniel winked at Riley who sighed happily and went back to his book. Max reached out to tousle his hair, and Riley leaned into the touch with a soft purr. 

In the shade of the beach tent, Jasper was contentedly shoveling the sand from left to right. Lucía had come to sit by his side, helping him with her own shovel. She was always a little “in the middle” with all of her siblings and packlings; the triplets and her sister were teenagers now, and oftentimes, Lucía couldn’t keep up. Luna was an incredibly caring sister, and tried her best to include Lucía, but eight and fourteen was a big developmental difference, and as such, Lucía often got stuck playing with Jasper or one of the adults. 

There was a screech from the direction of the triplets, and Max looked up just in time to see Evie kicking the water in the direction of Luna, who already looked like she’d been doused before, her beautiful thick black hair clinging to her shoulders with ocean water. 

Daniel, who was closest to them, still digging through the sand for seashells with Jakob, looked up with an attentive expression, but didn’t intervene right away. Instead, Flynn pushed himself between the two girls, and said something to Evie which had her roll her eyes but turn away. Daniel called her over to him and Jakob, and she started helping them sift through the sand as well, an unhappy expression on her face.

Max sighed quietly. 

Evie and Luna constantly swung wildly between best friends and mortal enemies, and sometimes, it was hard to know where to intervene. 

Luna was trudging over to them now, looking like a wet cat. 

“Mummy, I need a towel please,” she sweetly said to Lando. 

“Why don’t you just go swimming?” Carlos asked, “We’re at the beach after all.”

Luna rolled her eyes at him; Max was glad it wasn’t just his kids giving attitude. “I don’t like the ocean water!” she said like Carlos was stupid for asking.

“Watch your tone, princesa.”

“Sorry, Papá.” Luna blew him a kiss before turning to Lando with an expectant expression.

“Here.” Lando handed her a towel, completely undermining what Carlos had told her. Luna dried off her hair and face. 

By the water, Max could see Daniel exchanging some words with Evie, who looked unhappy about her own actions. Daniel was gesturing, speaking to her with furrowed eyebrows while Evie fidgeted with one of the seashells. 

A moment later, she came wandering over to them, chewing on her bottom lip.

“Lunie…”

Luna acted like she couldn’t hear. 

Sometimes it was hard watching them work their way through being a teenager. 

“Lunie, I’m sorry I splashed you.” 

There was a pause in which Luna kept ignoring her. 

“...you can splash me back?” Evie suggested hopefully. Max saw the corner of Luna’s mouth twitch. 

“Three times,” Evie added, and apparently, that was enough of a deal for Luna. She tossed the towel at Lando, who caught it with a little headshake. 

“Four,” she said, holding out her hand towards Evie. 

The relief on Evie’s face hurt Max’s heart a bit. 

“Yeah, okay,” Evie agreed, and grabbed Luna’s hand, and off they went. 

Sometimes, having children really made Max relive all the awkward phases of his own youth.

Secondly: Food safety means that food for human consumption has to be kept either below 4C or above 40C; the temperatures in between are the temperatures at which bacteria can grow. You don't want bacteria in your food because it makes the food go off OR makes the food full of illness-causing bacteria. I will not be giving you these degrees in farenheit this is a celsius-only adulting service. The slow-cooker on the "warm" setting keeps food at a minimum of 60C, and 60 is bigger than 40, which is why it can stay on all day.

You can put a room-temperature metal pot into your fridge with wild abandon. A non-stainless steel one might make your food taste weird if it sits. HOWEVER, you shouldn't put a warm metal pot into your fridge. The food inside the pot might not go bad but you run the risk of making the rest of the food in your fridge go off.

The fridge is designed to keep food between about 1.7C and 4C, but above 0C (because: freezing), and designed to cool food from room temp to 4C or (ideally, in the case of food that you buy refrigerated) to keep food at 4C or cooler . If you put something super warm in there (say, a 40C metal pot), the heat dissipates throughout the fridge and will warm the food surrounding to above 4C. Metal is going to do this better, because it has a low heat capacity , meaning it both absorbs and gives away heat faster - so you're going to get a bigger short-term jump in the temperature of the foods around that metal pot. The fridge is going to then have to work harder to re-cool everything to below 4C (where, you'll recall, bacteria can no longer grow), because it has to overcome the heat from the warm food PLUS the heat from the warm pot. During that time where surrounding foods are warmer, you can have active bacterial replication thus leading to spoiled food.

If you do need to chill food, putting it into a room-temperature container (so, a tupperware/a room temperature bowl/whatever) and THEN putting it in the fridge is going to minimize the amount of heat energy you're bringing to the inside of your fridge environment, and help the food cool to 4C faster. ok so basically its a project on designing a process plant to synthesis 50 metric tons per day of propylene oxide but the issue is using a process that has no coproducts because all major manufacturing technique currently coproduce a lot of styrene. This isnt problem per say because the styrene can be sold itself but this project requires pure propylene oxide which sucked because no one has done too much research on it. And so many of our sources recommend a process that uses cumene to oxidize propene to produce po but that process (aka the sumitomo process) was found to be shit like two years ago. So now its just reacting propene with hydrogen peroxide which is already a method but to produce no by product you need a titanium silica catalyst. and another facet of this project is the economics/profitability of this process and the catalyst ALONE costs $32 MILLION. For of couple fucking dozen kgs of this shit! but unlike the other raw materials you can use it over a long time but it drops to around 80% efficiency after 160 (i think) hours which makes calculating the daily need of raw materials fucking hard! because now we have to calculate with decreasing selectivity/efficiency and reaction rates! luckily our professor gave us a pass and we dont have to incorporate the catalyst cost because $32 MILLION dollars ur not getting rid of that for a 15% drop in selectivity! And the other raw components are only hydrogen peroxide, propene, water, and methanol. The water and methanol dont react, they just need to be the bath the reaction between hydrogen peroxide and propene take place in, but the ratio of hydrogen peroxide : propene is 1: 100 moles! and you need .69 kg of hydrogen peroxide and .79 kg propene for 1 kg of po! so u have all that 99% moles of propene that needs to be recycled and this whole thing was such a bitch to simulate how much to recycle and how much is needed per day etc bc the fucking recycle stream of the propene back into the reaction vessel! but also this processes only byproduct is waste water, bc the methanol is also recycled (which also was a fucking pain!). Hydrogen peroxide contaimates the waste water but it breaks up in water so its fine. God and just calculating all the equipment size and costing and materials because oh no half this shit needs to be made of stainless steel because pour baby carbon steel corrodes with hydrogen peroxide.

UGH and dont even get me fucking started on the sizing of distillation towers god im so glad i didnt do that portion if i have to see another theilman curve in the next year ill tear my eyes out. the water coolers were so much easier and gas compressors too.

its almost all done but god. fuck man. also on the off chance anyone reads this and wants to correct any errors fuck off this is off the top of my head maybe some values or info is wrong here but theyre hoepfuly right in the actual paper where its been throughly checked if not ill kill msyelf anyways.

Rival Group A!!: The fastest tuned HKS FD3S RS in history!

At the end of 92nd year, HKS made an emergency call to this magazine!

On December 11, 1992, the editorial department received a phone call from HKS. The content was that HKS would be testing the FD3S RX-7 at the Tsukuba circuit, which was created by fully utilizing the technology that HKS had cultivated so far, so he wanted me to be there.

Since he contacted me like this, he must have a lot of confidence. The best lap of the Tuned RX-7 so far at Tsukuba is the Night Sports RX-7 on August 25th last year with a time of 1 minute 6.1 seconds. Can it be shortened? The editorial department immediately headed to the Tsukuba circuit with a cameraman.

At 7:00 am on December 16th, Hagiwara, who was behind the steering wheel of the Group A HKS GT-R, got into the RX-7 named "FD3S RS" and the test started. The RX-7 laps smoothly, with the high-pitched exhaust note that is unique to the rotary. And the time that was beaten out was 1 minute 2.67 seconds! Fastest done in HA in the past.

Even looking at the time attack, it was a good time to beat the fastest production car based on the N1 specification Falken GT-R (1 minute 2.85 seconds). I was very clear about this. Furthermore, as a result of changing to slick tires as a reference, the time was reduced to 1:01:30!

Showing such amazing speed As for the tuning specs, the 13B engine body remains normal, but HKS specializes in turbo tuning + suspension and dynamic system enhancements centering on the TA45S turbine. With this specification, the maximum boost is 1.2kg/cm at 460ps.. The boost pressure during the test was 1.0 to 1.1kg/cm and Mr. Hagiwara said, "If the settings are adjusted more, the time should be shortened."

This FD3S RS HKS was developed with the aim of being a fast and fun sports car that can be used from the street to the circuit. Can't wait for the release!
