Another beautiful pic from Prog Magazine. I’ve gone through every episode of Hargreaves show I could find online but I can’t find this one! Caption by Regina.

Wednesday, May 25: Trees of Eternity, “The Eye of Night”
R.I.P. Aleah Stanbridge (1976-2016)
Hour of the Nightingale should’ve been the beginning of something special for Trees of Eternity, an album that would’ve marked a great next chapter for the Norrman brothers after leaving Katatonia and had the potential to turn the group from a side project into something bigger for both the Norrmans as well as Swallow the Sun guitarist Juha Raivio. It was all there on “The Eye of Night”: funereal doomdeath guitars and steady but dynamic drumming that ebbed and flowed while maintaining a consistent feel throughout, with the wildcard being Aleah Stanbridge’s alternately soaring, graceful and mournful vocals both floating over and cutting through the music. One comparable would be The Gathering, but only insofar as Mandylion similarly brought a new dimension to this kind of metal, because Trees of Eternity were really on their own trip. So all the pieces were there, but Hour of the Nightingale was both a beginning and ending, as Stanbridge’s tragic and untimely passing from cancer put a premature end to the project.
