i didn't pay $10 for journey to batuu for the gameplay all right

Force-Sensitive Exile (Explorer)
The Jedi are gone, the vast majority hunted down and destroyed by the Emperor and his minions. If any survive, they do so in hiding at the farthest edges of the galaxy. The Galactic Empire regards the ability to use the Force as a crime punishable by the harshest measures. In a few short decades, most of the galaxy has forgotten the Jedi, and dismissed the Force as an ancient religion. For many, this is by far the safest option. In the hidden corners of the galaxy, those who can touch the Force remain hidden, hunted, and outcast... but alive.
Tumblr media
Scoundrel (Smuggler)
A Galaxy of Marks
Part con artist, part gunslinger, and part cantina brawler, the Scoundrel is quick-witted, fast on his feet, and quick to get himself into a great deal of trouble at the drop of a hat. He doesn't care one whit for rules or laws, except where he can use them to work an angle that either nets him a lot of credits or brings down an enemy. If he's really lucky - and he tends to have an unshakeable faith in his luck - he'll manage both.
Tumblr media
Marauder (Hired Gun)
Up Close and Personal
Marauders don't necessarily mind shooting their opponents, but they would much rather get mixed up in a melee, weapons in hand, smashing and slashing their way through. Marauders are tough - probably the toughest combatants in any conflict. They tend to take a great deal of punishment while dealing out far more to any who would dare go against them.
Tumblr media
Survivalist (Bounty Hunter)
Master of the Wild
Beyond Civilization, in the farthest reaches of the galaxy, there are places where few (if any) sentients have ever trodden the ground. Places like this are ideal hiding places for those fleeing the law or retribution for their actions. Places like this are where the Bounty Hunters who specialize as Survivalists thrive.

Series Introduction: Tales of (Rebel) Scum and Villainy + Fic Introduction: The Scoundrel of Sriluur.
Welcome to the starting point of my magnum opus. This is, and will be, an ongoing, mostly canon-compliant series involving multiple characters, multiple ships, possibly a “reader” or two, and a various assortment of OCs written in what I like to think is meticulous detail.
This introduction will be used as a reference point for those who are new to the series, and is crossposted to Ao3 in the "notes section."
The span of time for this particular entry will begin in 74 BBY, as Hondo Ohnaka is never given a canon birthday, but I like to assume Weequay age at a slower rate, as Hondo is still alive and kicking at the time of the Sequel Trilogy, residing at the Black Spire outpost on the planet Batuu where he owns and operates Ohnaka Transport Solutions.
This fic is only the beginning; these writings will be arranged in a series I will call “Tales of (Rebel) Scum and Villainy,” each story set in a different time period. Some may be shorter or longer than others, some may focus on other characters entirely, but the most prominent character will be Cad Bane (his birthday is said to be in 62 BBY, so it makes sense to me to start chronologically with Hondo, though their stories will very much be intertwined).
This story, The Scoundrel of Sriluur, will contain a deeply flawed mother-son relationship, poor examples of parenting, child neglect, poverty, theft, lying, cheating, religious conflicts, family drama, slavery, and canon-typical behavior and violence.
I should mention that Sriluurian, the language of the Weequay, "is formed by guttural mumbles and subdued whispers." It also uses hieroglyphs as a written form. It is a language used to communicate with people from other tribes, as Weequay from the same clan/tribe could communicate via their pheromones and did not need to use spoken language. "As a result, speech was only a secondary form of communication for Weequay, and they seldom spoke a whole sentence, resulting in Humans mistakenly believing the species to be unintelligent." Throughout this fic, I will use [[text that looks like this]] when Weequay are communicating with one another.
Eventually, you will meet a whole cast of canon characters, which of course includes the entire Star Wars menagerie of bounty hunters. I will use and reference canon events in my stories, but I will also use what little information there is about Cad Bane and Hondo Ohnaka to flesh out my own ideas.
In the future, expect there to be smut and explicit sexual content, as well as examples of toxic relationships, domestic violence, group sex/orgies, rough sex, non-consensual elements, sexual related trauma, off-color jokes, teasing, and an intersex Cad Bane who has both male and female parts, including a cloaca, hemipenis (like reptiles), underdeveloped paired ovaries (which may or may not be capable of "laying" eggs like Duros in legends/canon), oviducts, and other internal sex organs used primarily for pleasure sensations, which shall be explained in context.
Fair warning, ships will include Bane with Jango Fett, Hondo Ohnaka, original characters including a female Jedi, a retired clone, and Shriv Suurgav from Battlefront 2 (who is also a member of the Duros species), however, Jango Fett and Hondo Ohnaka are the primary ships. Hondo also experiences pairings outside of Bane, including original characters and Aurra Sing.
Though this series will have a lot to do with the various relationships between Bane, Hondo, and others, it does not completely revolve around sex, but it will be a very big part of it, as I am first and foremost a smut writer. You might say this is a love story between two very bad people who deserve each other, and I am thrilled to bring "Banaka" to the fandom.
Finally, a hat tip to @allsystemsblue on Tumblr, as she has helped me to brainstorm on numerous occasions, including talking with me day in and day out about these characters, cheering me on so that I can finally bring this story to life. I will most likely credit her (“Teeth”) as I go, where a shoutout is deserving of extra attention.
As always, kudos and comments/feedback is appreciated. Please “subscribe to user” on Ao3 if you don’t want to miss updates. Also, be on the lookout for another series called “Bounty Hunter B-sides,” which will include crack scenarios and all my weird AU ideas that cannot be included in my “canon.” I can only hope my writing resonates with at least a few people. Enjoy (or not)!

New Resistance Headcanons
So, I made a few posts of headcanons for Star Wars Resistance characters. However, I made those before the series ended and before TROS came out. Now that the both series are over, and we got to know the characters better, I thought of new ones!
Kazuda Xiono:
CB-23 helped Kaz through the loss of Hosnian Prime and PTSD. He didn’t want to give the FO the satisfaction of being broken emotionally, which is why he’s his normal, cheerful self in seaosn 2 (and TROS, apparently)!
When he was little, he wanted to be like his father, that is, until he attended a sky race. Since then, he has wanted to be a racer.
His squadmates from the premiere (Hugh Sion and Mia Gabon) had been his best friends since childhood.
He had every hologame ever created
He never wanted to go to military school. In fact, he did everything he could to get himself expelled. But, when he found out his father was pulling strings to keep him there, he gave in and started behaving better.
He was in his first year of military school when the napkin bombing (In the Bloodline novel) happened. When he heard about it, he freaked out and was really worried about his parents. When he heard that Leia saved all the senators, that’s when he began to admire her. That admiration didn’t fade when he found out she is the daughter of Darth Vader. Of course, his father didn’t agree with him, in fact, they got into a shouting match, which ended with Senator Xiono smacking Kaz across the face and grounding him for an entire season.
Wedge Antilles was Kaz’s flight instructor. He told Kaz stories of the Rebellion, which got Kaz interested in joining the Resistance.
He has gone on a few dates, but the girls he dated were only with him because he was rich or because they felt sorry for him.
He’s actually pretty smart when it comes to academics. He got the scar on the side of his head from a training accident. He tripped and fell onto a sharp ledge and had to have surgery. The injury affected his mobility, which is why he’s so clumsy.
He is (was?) close to his mother, who loves him and supports him in everything he does.
He had a nanny droid who was like a second mother to him.
His mother would take him to the Hanging Gardens and lunch at the cafe there, and Kaz secretly loved it.
He thought about starting a family when he was good and ready, and vows never to treat his children the same way his father treated him.
He has only been drunk once. He stumbled around town and broke into a store and made out with a mannequin. Since then, he vowed never to drink more than one glass per week.
He hated attending Senate dinners and banquets, but, in order to please his father, he kept still and hid his emotions behind a smile.
His only other language is binary, but he picked up a few languages after being on the Colossus.
He often imagined telling Tam, Neeku, and Torra the truth about why he was on the Colossus. Deep down, he knew that Neeku probably would have told the entire station within the hour, and Tam would have turned him in the first chance she got.
After Torra told him she knew he was in the Navy, he was secretly relieved that at least one person besides Yeager knows some truth about who he is. He would tell Torra stories about the Navy and Hosnian Prime. He promised her he would take her there someday.
He started to develop a crush on Torra, but instantly shook off those feelings when he found out how old (well, young) she is. If he pursued her, then Doza would kill him slowly and painfully.
He had nightmares about the Hosnian Cataclysm. Every time he’d close his eyes, he saw Hosnian Prime being destroyed.
He hid his grief for his home and his family and friends from everyone. In private he would sob his eyes out while clutching his lucky trophy like a lifeline, but otherwise, he’d put on a smile. Yeager and Torra know he’s lying, but decided to let him grieve his own way.
He bears no ill will towards the Resistance for not coming to their aid or failing to save the Hosnian System. Instead, he’s grateful they saved his life by recruiting him.
He feels bad about doubting Captain Doza, and even worse when he found out his wife is in the Resistance.
On their way to their missions, Poe would tell Kaz of his adventures throughout his life. Kaz loved hearing those stories, and was surprised to learn that Poe was from Yavin 4.
Deep down, he cannot understand why Tam is so intolerant towards him, but is okay with Neeku.
Initially did not like Yeager that much, but over time, he became like a father to him.
Kaz found a big brother in Poe, a little brother in Kel, and little sisters in Torra and Eila.
When he meets Rey, he is in awe. He’s never met a Jedi before. They instantly hit it off, bonding over mechanic-ing, piloting, and having an evil family member (If Hamato is with the FO).
He tries not to show it, but he is beyond sick of people doubting him and teasing him about his clumsiness and shrieking every five minutes.
It took every ounce of his willpower not to attack Hux at the Titan.
Jumped at the chance to join Lando’s fleet at Exegol.
“Hit those underbelly cannons. Every one we knock out is a world saved.” Kaz knocked out eight: five for the Hosnian system, one for Tehar, one for Aeos, and one for Castilon.
He was shocked that Poe used to be a spice runner, but accepted it and moved on.
He helped the Resistance rebuild and redeem the New Republic.
Yeager:
Yeager was born on Batuu during the end of the Clone Wars. Marcus was born ten years later.
Yeager joined the Rebellion a few months before the destruction of Alderaan.
His parents were killed by the Empire before the Battle of Endor.
He was in Green Squadron with Shara Bey (Poe’s mom).
He met Leia, Han, Luke, Cassian, Mon, Ackbar, Wedge, Norra, Shara, Kes, and Hera. He actually had a little crush on Leia until he heard she was taken.
He met Doza during the Battle of Jakku.
He and his squadron took down the main star destroyer. That destroyer had all the main computers and weapons for the battle.
He met his late wife after he was injured at the Battle of Jakku. She was a doctor.
He looked after Marcus after their parents died.
He and his wife tried for many years to conceive a child, finally succeeding nine years after the Battle of Jakku.
His ship was named after his late wife, Ayala.
He babysat Poe a few times.
He was there for Poe and Kes after Shara died.
After the death of his family, he punched Marcus, told him he never wanted to see him again, then disappeared.
Like Kaz, Yeager grieved in private. He became emotionally detached. When he hugged Marcus after the Platform Classic, that was the very first time he hugged someone since his family died.
Each night, he’d take his family photo to bed and talk to it about his day.
When Tam applied for a job at his shop, Yeager was instantly reminded of his late daughter (as well as Marcus). He accidentally called Tam by his daughter’s name once. They never spoke of the incident again. Tam was everything Yeager imagined his daughter would be like.
Over the years, he came across attractive women, but he never acted on them because he felt he’d be betraying his family.
The destruction of the Hosnian System reminded Yeager of Alderaan and his own family’s deaths. He hugged Kaz, but it was uncomfortable for both of them.
He was initially glad that Poe didn’t recruit him for the spy mission, but as he grew to care about Kaz, he kind of wished he agreed to do it in the first place.
Tam:
Tam was born on Kuat. Her mother died when she was a baby.
Once she was old enough, her father dragged her along to all of his races.
She heard stories about the Empire and the Rebellion from her father, who watered it down.
Her grandfather was actually forced to work at that Imperial factory. Sort of a reversed Jyn and Galen thing. Jyn thought Galen worked for the Empire because he loved it and hated him for it, but realized he was forced to work for the Empire. Tam actually loved her grandfather for working for the Empire, and thought he worked at that factory because he loved it.
Tam’s father died of bloodburn when she was eighteen.
Tam was angry after losing her ship and that race. Yeager calmed her down and talked to her a few times about it. He became like a father to her.
Hype was her first real friend. When he forgot all about their friendship, Tam took it really hard.
She was hesitant upon making friends with Neeku, but over time they became really good friends.
After Kaz joined Team Fireball, and everything that’s happened afterwards, she felt like her world was collapsing at an alarming rate. Kaz took her friends, her ship, and her father figure. She even envisioned smothering Kaz in his sleep.
She was surprised when Supreme Leader Ren wanted to meet with her. They bonded over joining the FO because they were lied to and deceived.
She gave the Fireball to Kaz, feeling that she doesn’t deserve it after everything that happened.
Neeku:
Neeku grew up on Tatooine (he came from a long line of bantha herders, and his species prefer desert climates).
He is the anti-Anakin: loves sand, was born and raised free, and did not like racing; but loved watching races.
He is either autistic or he has Asperger's.
He spent some time at Mos Eisley, which is where he’s seen bounty hunters.
When he arrived at the Colossus, he wandered around trying to make friends.
He and Rey would instantly bond over growing up on desert planets and being mechanics.

Star Wars Confessions
Tagged by @lastwordbeforetheend to post 5 confessions about Star Wars!
1. I first remember seeing Empire Strikes Back when I was 4 or 5, and by the time I was 10 I was thoroughly hooked on Star Wars. My mom used to see ESB WEEKLY in 1980 with her friends for a year, and both she and my dad were always huge Star Wars fans. I've had periods in my life where I'm more or less interested in it, but have always counted it as an interest. However, The Mandalorian is the first SW property that's ever nudged me into full-on fandom.
2. As a kid I got $5 for allowance every 2 weeks, and every 2 weeks I would check for new Star Wars figures at the store, which were $4.99. I had over 30 of the classic 90s 3.75" SW figures, including weirdoes like the Rancor Keeper in addition to Luke with Yoda in the backpack and Lando with his lovely cape. Sadly out of all of them I only had one Leia, dressed as the bounty hunter, and no other female characters. Now that I've gotten into Mando, I've been accumulating a small army of newer 3.75" figures and the Black Series 6" figures, which now include both versions of Din Djarin, the Armorer, Cara Dune, Greef Karga, Kuiil, IG-11, and Bo-Katan, not to mention favorites from the original trilogy and the sequels. It's nice to not really grow up. XD My Tatooine-dust-smudged R2D2 still beeps with his original battery, more than 20 years later.
3. This is my first fandom I've been really prolific in yet haven't written a single romantic story for. Most of my Steven Universe fanfic was gen but there were smatterings of Connverse and Rose x Pearl and Rose x Greg, but the only things I ship Din Djarin with are sleep and friendship. I admit to being truly baffled by the Mando x Reader/Pedro x Reader genre and not getting the appeal at all. I'm glad people are enjoying themselves with it, but it doesn't make any sense to me, and I don't understand why people have chosen that instead of making OCs or self-inserts; maybe I'm just getting old! I'd never seen it really before this fandom (after writing fic for the past 20 years in several different fandoms). Definitely one of those cases of different strokes for different folks. More power to anyone who enjoys it but I'll be in the gen corner :)
4. I wrote an extremely hilarious and dorky friendfiction with my friends and I as Star Wars Phantom Menace characters in high school. Anakin was played by the fetal pig we had in biology class and I was the Jar Jar character because I knew my friends would probably be mad if I made one of them Jar Jar.
5. Pre-Covid, I loved going to Galaxy's Edge in Disneyland dressed as either Rey or a Resistance pilot, and would often spend an afternoon or evening in Batuu, sketching my surroundings and just soaking up the atmosphere. It was so incredible walking in and truly feeling like I'd gone to another world beneath a different star, and seeing so many details that really made me feel like I was in a galaxy far, far away. Looking forward to returning later this year hopefully, and recapturing some of that joy, this time in a Din Djarin outfit with a Grogu at my side <3
Tagging @art3mys, @fake-starwars-fan, and @thecagedthestral if you would like to play along, or anyone else who wants to post their confessions!

alright EA here’s some bullet points on how to fix Journey of Batuu. keep in mind that i’ve never made a game or mod or anything like that but i think adding at least some of these would improve the pack greatly
- shift the focus of the pack from the sequel era to prequel era/BBY (before Battle of Yavin)
- the new world is simply called “The Galaxy (far far away), and the neighborhoods are different “planets” such as a coruscant for jedi, Moraband/Korriban for the sith, and tatooine just for funsies
- on coruscant and moraband are temples where sims can seek out jedi sims that can teach them to harness the force
- there is a force user lifestate similar to the vampire lifestate, except before the lifestate begins (around kids age or teen age for non-cas sims) you get an option to “pledge to the jedi” or “pledge to the sith”. this lifestate also extends your sims lifespan greatly but does not make them immortal
- New lot types such as: galactic cantina, galactic market, jedi temple, and sith temple
- New lot traits such as: smugglers hotspot, sacred jedi land, forsaken sith soil, etc etc
- lightsaber duels which you can choose if they are for practice, to stun, or to the death (Note: this system is modelled off of the sims medieval dueling and can easily be a reused asset!! DO YOU HEAR ME EA?)
-career paths such as: Jedi temple career path (starts as Temple Padawan), Sith temple career path (starts as Temple recruit), and galactic government jobs or smuggler jobs or a bounty hunter job
- lightsaber practice droid from the original trilogy
- jedi or sith that you had a high relationship with will come back as force ghosts that can guide you in the force, similar to the ancestors from island life
- overhaul aliens so that the alien occult has different “species” and they’re not just masks
BONUS POINTS IF YOU ADD:
-another planet neighborhood such as Naboo
-a small neighborhood planet that holds a Kyber crystal cave rabbit hole, where you are given a series of choices that determine what color kyber crystal you get or if you even get it at all. sith get the option to “corrupt” theirs, which turns it red. this planet would hopefully be Ilum, and this would be the ONLY rabbit hole in the game pack
-some sort of royalty system if planets such as Naboo or Mandalore are added
In conclusion EA, this game pack barely even qualifies as a stuff pack and is disappointing to say the least. the best option is to recall the pack and put it back into development or scrap it all together. it’s not a pack of quality, disappointing to star wars fans, and disgraceful to all the players who just want the simple things in game to be fixed

𝙻𝙰𝚈𝙴𝚁 001:   THE OUTSIDE.
𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐄:    Myla. 𝐄𝐘𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐎𝐔𝐑:    A striking, inhumanly bright blue. 𝐇𝐀𝐈𝐑 𝐒𝐓𝐘𝐋𝐄 / 𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐎𝐔𝐑:    Medium brown with some lighter streaks due to being exposed to batuu’s three suns so often.  It’s thick & wavy & mostly an uncontrollable mess unless it’s tightly braided, but she only rarely makes the effort to do so.  Primarily, it’s left loose, reaching a little past shoulder length, or thrown up in a messy ponytail/bun. 𝐇𝐄𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓:    5′6″  /  167cm. 𝐂𝐋𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐒𝐓𝐘𝐋𝐄:    Super practical & pretty in line with Batuuan fashion styles.  Cargo pants, pretty standard hiking or work boots, woven scarfs and loose blouses.    She usually sticks to blues, browns, and other natural colors other than her light yellow helmet & wishing tree ribbon tied around her arm.  She does often wear a leather jacket, which is considered to be super fancy by Batuuan standards.  Only Oga’s lieutenants, Varg, some of the gang leaders, & primarily off-world smugglers can afford them, & every one is customized to represent its owner’s allegiances.  Myla’s has a patch of the symbol for Black Spire Outpost on one shoulder & one with Dok-Ondar’s signature logo on the other. 𝐁𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐏𝐇𝐘𝐒𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐋 𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄:    Personally, I like her floofy hair the most, but I’ll go with her eyes just because they’re the most unique & noticeable thing about her.
𝙻𝙰𝚈𝙴𝚁 002:   THE INSIDE.
𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐒:    The Force, or what she only knows as the terrible feelings she occasionally gets.  Losing Varg or Tohago.  Oga Garra.  Zygerrians.  Never leaving Batuu.  Never escaping the crime syndicate. Death. The Naklor returning.  Batuu being destroyed by the war.  Batuuan braga bears.  Medical droids.  Bounty hunters discovering that she’s an escaped slave. 𝐆𝐔𝐈𝐋𝐓𝐘 𝐏𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐔𝐑𝐄:    People watching in the space port & thinking up her own make-believe life stories for each person. 𝐁𝐈𝐆𝐆𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐏𝐄𝐓 𝐏𝐄𝐄𝐕𝐄:    Anyone who doesn’t pay their debts, double-crossers, & people who look down on her, or any Batuuan really, for being from a backwater planet that has a lot of criminal activities. 𝐀𝐌𝐁𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐅𝐔𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄:    See the galaxy & actually be able to experience the different cultures, climates, & everything about other planets rather than just hearing stories.  Have a little antique shop of her own that doesn’t have ties to any criminal organizations.  Have a family.  Find out who her parents are & what happened to them.
𝙻𝙰𝚈𝙴𝚁 003:   THOUGHTS.
𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒 𝐖𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐔𝐏:    There’s always a brief moment every morning when Myla wonders if she could manage to get away from Oga if she tried to leave again, now that she’s a lot older & more experienced.  It never lasts long, but that little sliver of hope that she wakes up to really keeps her going throughout the day. 𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐘 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐊 𝐀𝐁𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐌𝐎𝐒𝐓:    Work.  Sometimes, Myla wonders if she even really has a life beyond being ordered around by Dok all day & sometimes all night, too.  There’s always a mental list of all of the people indebted to Dok running through her head or concerns about smugglers attempting to scam them when they bring in kyber crystal shipments.  She also thinks about the other kids that were on the Zygerrian ship, the ones that she never saw again, & wonders if they’re off living comfortable lives on some Core World.  She likes to make herself believe that they are. 𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐘 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐊 𝐀𝐁𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐁𝐄𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐄 𝐁𝐄𝐃:    Usually it goes one of two ways: Myla will either work herself up worrying over work-related problems, the general unsafe & unpredictable nature of Galma, & bad memories or she’ll be imagining what other planets might look like based on the stories she’s heard.  If it’s the former, then she likely won’t sleep & will climb a nearby broken spire to watch the stars all night. 𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐘 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐊 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐈𝐑 𝐁𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐐𝐔𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝐈𝐒:    Reliability.
𝙻𝙰𝚈𝙴𝚁 004:    WHAT’S BETTER ?
𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐋𝐄 𝐎𝐑 𝐆𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐏 𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒:    Single. 𝐓𝐎 𝐁𝐄 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐃 𝐎𝐑 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐄𝐃:    Myla would say respected if asked, but really she’d rather be loved. 𝐁𝐄𝐀𝐔𝐓𝐘 𝐎𝐑 𝐁𝐑𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐒:    Brains. 𝐃𝐎𝐆𝐒 𝐎𝐑 𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐒:    Dogs.
𝙻𝙰𝚈𝙴𝚁 005:   DO THEY  . . .
𝐋𝐈𝐄:    All the time, but it’s more rare outside of her work & she’d never lie to someone she’s close with. 𝐁𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐕𝐄 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐌𝐒𝐄𝐋𝐕𝐄𝐒:    It depends.  In a fight she’s prone to overconfidence, but in most other aspects Myla doubts herself to the point of it being a detriment. 𝐁𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐕𝐄 𝐈𝐍 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄:    Maybe.  She’d really like to, but due to the sort of crowds she hangs with, Myla hasn’t seen it in action for herself very often.  She believes it exists somewhere out there in the galaxy, but not necessarily that it’s in the cards for her. 𝐖𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐒𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐎𝐍𝐄:    Oh yeah. She’s a horribly lonely person.
𝙻𝙰𝚈𝙴𝚁 006:    HAVE THEY EVER  . . .
𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐎𝐍 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐆𝐄:    No... Unless climbing on the R-3X’s DJ booth in the cantina while she was drunk counts. 𝐃𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐃𝐑𝐔𝐆𝐒:    No. 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐄𝐃 𝐖𝐇𝐎 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐘 𝐖𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐓𝐎 𝐅𝐈𝐓 𝐈𝐍:    Yes.  Myla was actually a pretty quiet kid full of bright optimism & love who only wanted to help people, but those aren’t exactly traits that would help her survive or make Oga money.  She toughened up fast & there were a lot of times before she started working more for Dok when she was absolutely ruthless with no remorse.  She’s been allowed to soften back up a bit since she’s been working in the antiques shop, but a lot of times she does put on a rougher front to fit in with the criminal crowd.
𝙻𝙰𝚈𝙴𝚁 007:   FAVOURITES.

A GUIDE TO THE ROYAL HANDMAIDENS OF NABOO | via starwars.com (x) It’s likely you don’t know the names and faces of more than one or two of Padmé Amidala’s handmaidens… and that’s how they prefer it. Completely loyal to the young queen and future senator, many of her handmaidens even took new names once they entered Padmé’s service as a way to honor her. Their outfits were always chosen to complement Amidala’s, often with hoods to obscure their faces. The Naboo handmaidens hold a unique place in Star Wars lore as bodyguards, wardrobe attendants, and political aides. Their bravery is even more impressive once their youth is taken into account; the youngest handmaiden was all of twelve years old at the start. For their loyalty to and love for Amidala alone, they deserve some time in the spotlight. Spoiler warning: This story contains minor details and plot points from the book Star Wars: Queen’s Shadow.
Sabé While never mentioned by name in the films, Sabé is one of the handmaidens most well-known to fans given her prominent status as the decoy queen in The Phantom Menace. Padmé and Sabé worked together to develop a voice for Amidala to help add another layer to the deception begun by their resemblance and the elaborate dresses and traditional make-up. All six women also created a code (verbal and non-verbal) so they could communicate unnoticed. Sabé had a particularly close friendship with Padmé and was the only handmaiden to remain in Amidala’s service after she left the throne. (Out of Universe: Sabé was played by Keira Knightley and was such a close physical match for Natalie Portman that even the actresses’ mothers couldn’t tell them apart when dressed as Queen Amidala.) Rabé The only handmaiden to have lines as herself in The Phantom Menace, abé accompanied her queen off of Naboo on the mission to Coruscant. She served as the queen’s wardrobe mistress and an artist with hairstyles, ensuring that every piece of the queen’s wardrobe could protect her in addition to being beautifully crafted. Nothing in the wardrobe was without function. Her talents at reading body language and lips were equally useful to the queen over the years. She went on to study music at a prestigious academy in Theed after Amidala’s term as queen came to an end. (Out of Universe: Rabé was played by Karol Cristina da Silva.) Eirtaé With bright blond hair, Eirtaé was the easiest to distinguish from her fellow royal handmaidens especially during the rare occasion when they appeared without their hoods. She also accompanied Amidala to Coruscant, helping to maintain the decoy illusion even while the ship was on Tatooine. Eirtaé fought in the Battle of Naboo alongside Sabé, Rabé, and Padmé herself. After she left Amidala’s service, she pursued her love of art and science. (Out of Universe: Eirtaé was played by Friday “Liz” Wilson.) Saché Although Saché was the youngest among the original handmaidens, her bravery was never once called into question. Left behind on Naboo, she helped protect the members of the Royal Security Forces at tremendous personal cost. It earned her their loyalty forever. After Amidala’s term ended, Saché followed in the queen’s footsteps and entered the political arena. (Out of Universe: Saché was played by Sofia Coppola. She’d asked George Lucas, a close family friend, if she could observe the set and he offered her the chance to observe while also playing one of the handmaidens.) Yané Yané also remained behind on Naboo at the queen’s instructions during Amidala’s desperate mission to Coruscant. Alongside Saché, she helped the resistance there and did what they could to fight back against the droid invasion. She often volunteered her time to help Naboo’s orphans, devoting even more of her time after leaving Amidala’s service. (Out of Universe: Yané was played by Candice Orwell.) Cordé With Sabé assigned elsewhere, Padmé found herself in need of a new decoy even though senators traditionally did not have handmaidens. Of the three handmaidens brought into her service as a senator, Cordé was the closest physical match despite being slightly taller. She perfected Amidala’s voice to the point that even a voice identifier couldn’t tell the difference. Ultimately, Cordé gave her life when a bomb meant for Amidala blew up their starship in an attempt to stop the senator from voting on the Military Creation Act. (Out of Universe: Cordé was played by Veronica Segura) Dormé Dormé had gone through security forces training with Gregar Typho and remained at the Academy to go through a modified version of handmaiden training. When Padmé accepted the Senate seat, he immediately recommended Dormé as a potential new handmaiden. She took over as wardrobe mistress and built upon Rabé’s past work to ensure Amidala’s wardrobe was both appropriate for her new role as senator and offered physical protection. Her duties also included applying Cordé’s make-up to make her an even closer physical match for the senator when she served as decoy. After multiple attempts on Padmé’s life forced her to return to Naboo accompanied by the Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, Dormé remained behind on Coruscant with Typho in an effort to make her enemies think the Senator was still there. (Out of Universe: Dormé was played by Rose Byrne in one of her first roles.) Versé Versé was the niece of Mariek Panaka who recommended her for the Senator’s new cohort of handmaidens. She was an extremely talented slicer who used her talents in Amidala’s service in more ways than one. Versé also lost her life to the same bomb that claimed Cordé right before the start of the Clone Wars. (Out of Universe: Versé was played by Avril Wynne.) Teckla Minnau The first of Amidala’s handmaidens to not take a name ending in é, Teckla Minnau was first properly introduced in The Clone Wars although she appeared as an attendant at the Lake House in a blink-and-you-miss-it moment in Attack of the Clones. She provided both moral support and perspective to Padmé, helping strengthen her resolve to fight a military spending bill. Later, she accompanied Amidala on a mission to Scipio where she was killed by a bounty hunter who was trying to stop them from discovering an embezzlement scandal. (Out of Universe: Teckla was voiced by Ashley Moynihan.) Duja The newest addition to the list of handmaidens, Duja was first mentioned in Thrawn: Alliances. She entered Amidala’s service sometime after she joined the Senate as she and Padmé mourned the death of Cordé together after the bombing but left it prior to the end of the Clone Wars. She died on Batuu while investigating a Separatist factory on Mokivj, prompting Padmé to travel out to the distant planet to figure out what happened to her. Karté Even less is known about Karté who has so far only appeared in the Forces of Destiny episode “The Imposter Inside” and its supporting materials… and for the most part it wasn’t even really her! A clawdite bounty hunter stole her identity to get to Padmé at some point during the Clone Wars. Moteé and Ellé Moteé and Ellé served Senator Amidala during the final days of both the Republic and her life. Moteé accompanied her to the Senate for Palpatine’s speech in which he declared himself Emperor. Ellé’s scenes were ultimately cut from Revenge of the Sith, but she still appears in the novelization. (Out of Universe: Moteé was played by Kristy Wright and Ellé was played by Chantel Freer.)

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge: Black Spire – Full Plot and Notes
I just finished reading the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge: Black Spire novel by Delilah Dawson. It was a very enjoyable read and I have summarized the full plot with some notes.
Spoilers below the cut.
Before the Mission
We begin the story back on D’Qar, during the events of The Force Awakens. About to go to Takodana to take care of an urgent matter, General Leia Organa summons spy, Vi Moradi. Knowing the First Order is up to something big, Leia tells Vi she wants to find a new base as quickly as possible. Still recovering from her trauma and injuries she sustained in Phasma, which happened a few weeks before, Vi is itching to get back to work. She recommends Batuu as a possible location to scout and Leia gives her permission to leave on the condition that she take Archex – formally Captain Cardinal – with her.
Unhappy with this idea, Vi visits Doctor Harter Kalonia to discuss Archex’s condition and whether or not he’s a danger to her. Acknowledging Vi’s fears, Kalonia assures her that Archex has been doing well under the physical and mental therapy at a separate facility on Cerea. She believes the mission might be what he needs to adjust to life outside the First Order and to push his loyalty towards the Resistance.
Their conversation is interrupted, however, when Leia announces to the entire base that the First Order fired the Starkiller weapon on the Hosnian System.
Needed elsewhere, Vi’s mission to Batuu is put on hold.
Off to a Rocky Start
Four months later and after the Battle of Crait, the Resistance is desperate for shelter, supplies, and help.
Finally given permission to go to Batuu, Vi, accompanied by a sarcastic and rude droid, PK-Ultra (“Pook”), travels to Cerea to pick up Archex, who is anxious to get off the peaceful world.
With a punctured lung and a limp caused by the injuries Captain Phasma gave him, Archex is surprised the Resistance would trust and allow him on a mission. He confirms Vi’s hunch that Batuu is not strategically important to the First Order, especially since the Order continues to use the threat of Starkiller over bigger worlds to force their compliance. Most of the galaxy is unaware of the weapon’s destruction.
Vi and Archex discuss their loyalties and what drives them. Despite the lies and dishonorable conduct of General Armitage Hux and Phasma, Archex still believes that the First Order is a better candidate to be the best leaders for the galaxy.
Upon their arrival to Batuu, a smuggler ship uses their transport for cover from an assaulting ship. Taking too much damage, Vi is forced to make an emergency crash landing.
Regaining consciousness, Vi learns the transport was immediately taken apart by local scavengers. All their supplies, including PK-Ultra’s lower half and arm, were stolen. Realizing the supplies and parts will likely end up on the market at the Outpost, Vi decides to take a look around and look for a job, leaving Archex in the forest to guard what remains.
A group of locals led by a woman named Salju comes across the wreckage and helps them. Realizing Vi and Archex got caught in the scuffle of their latest deal that went bad, Salju decides to help Vi locate her missing items as an apology. She guesses the scavengers belonged to the Blutopian and local crime boss, Oga Garra.
Getting Acquainted with Black Spire Outpost
While walking through the market, Vi spot’s PK-Ultra’s lower half and arm at the Droid Depot, owned by Mubo. Sympathetic to her story, Mubo agrees to sell Vi back the parts for the same price he paid and put the droid back together for free. Vi tells him she’ll bring PK-Ultra with her the next day.
Passing by the local cantina, Vi witnesses Oga Garra murder a Wookiee member of her gang who was sneaking around with a Rodian waitress, who she fires on the spot.
Thinking about possible recruitment in the area, Vi counts out all the merchants and decides it would be better to try the working-class locals. In the meantime, she takes a job with local scrapyard owner Savi and his group of scavengers that call themselves Gatherers and are followers of the Force. Savi is a supporter of the Resistance and an old friend of Lor San Tekka, who gave Poe Dameron the map to Luke Skywalker.
Returning to the transport, Vi finds that Archex has set up camp and asks him about how the First Order recruits their volunteers. He tells her they didn’t need to recruit once they took control over a world and instead just forced people into the ranks. Admitting he understands he was brainwashed by them, Archex questions everything he pledged his life to until his defection.
The next morning, Vi takes PK-Ultra to get repaired by Mubo, who tips her off to where some of her missing cargo was sold to.
Vi locates many of her supplies, but finds the prices of the market are heavily inflated due to Oga’s terms of taking a cut of every shop’s sales. Not wanting to get on Oga’s bad side, Vi accepts that she will have to work to save up to buy it all back or figure out another way. Buying what she can, including her med kit and knitting supplies, Vi quickly becomes broke. Savi warns her to keep her head low and not get on any of the shop owners’ bad sides.
At camp, Archex and Vi have a strained relationship. Archex becomes annoyed at Vi’s biases against stormtroopers and how she treats him like he knows nothing about survival, reminding her of his upbringing on Jakku and his training in the First Order. He forages vegetables and wild game for them to eat.
On her first day of work at Savi’s scrapyard, Vi is introduced to Ylena who heads acquisitions. Ylena runs over the process of gathering and sorting, explaining the Gatherers keep an eye out for Jedi artifacts in an effort to preserve them.
As a welcome from her co-workers, Vi goes with them to Oga’s Cantina for drinks. After drinking a little, Vi tests the waters for Resistance recruitment and finds the Batuuans are vulnerable because they don’t believe the First Order would show up at a world as unimportant as theirs. Many even think the First Order and the Resistance are fake rumors. Blabbing that Leia Organa sent her to Batuu to recruit, she is surprised to find the name-drop doesn’t interest anyone or create more confusion to why Vi would be working at a scrapyard if her mission was so important.
Oga’s minions overhear her and Ylena warns her to be careful about who she discusses the Resistance around.
On her way back to camp, Rusko, one of Oga’s goons, kidnaps her.
As he waits for Vi to return, Archex reflects on his hesitance to pick a side. No longer viewing the First Order as the saviors of the galaxy due to events surrounding the Hosnian Cataclysm, he also does not feel loyalty to the Resistance, though her feels some affection and responsibility for Vi. Feeling useless on the mission due to his injuries, he becomes more and more agitated.
Oga’s Deal
Rusko drags Vi to Oga in a secret room behind her cantina. Seeing this as an opportunity, Vi tries to explain why she’s there, hoping to appeal to the crime boss, but Oga tells her she has no need for the Resistance if they have no money, hinting she easily could side with the First Order for that reason alone.
Despite her lack of interest in the Resistance, Oga strikes a deal with Vi: retrieve an artifact in a ruin full of booby-traps in exchange for some of her stolen cargo. Vi agrees on the condition she also get to use the ruins as a base for the Resistance.
Finding a Jedi artifact for Savi the next day (implied to be a holocron), Vi is rewarded the next day with a supply of expensive power cables.
Feeling useless and desperate for human contact, Archex begs Vi to take him to the marketplace to get dinner. He shows her the carvings he whittled out of wood during the days, hoping to sell them to the local toymaker. Vi tells him that by keeping camp, he isn’t being useless to the Resistance and he misreads her affection towards him. Vi rejects his advances when he tries to kiss her and confesses her asexual orientation.
The First Order is tipped off that the Resistance spy that caused Cardinal’s defection is on Batuu. General Hux assigns the retrieval of Vi to Lieutenant Wulfgar Kath, who was a friend of Cardinal’s. Knowing that he will likely be executed if the mission is a failure, Kath takes his assignment very seriously.
The locals of Batuu do not take kindly to the arrival of the First Order, throwing rocks at Kath and his troops. Baffled by how the locals don’t care who he is or who he’s with, he makes a deal with Oga to get information on Vi in exchange of the retrieval for the same artifact Oga sent her to get.
On her day off, Vi ventures into the ruins in hopes of getting the artifact for Oga. She finds the body of a bounty hunter in a pool of water and discovers its inhabited by nearly-invisible poisonous glass anemones. Raiding the body of night-vision goggles, a grappling gun, another blaster, and a commlink, Vi passes through to a pitch-black corridor. Making use of the goggles, she comes across the beheaded body of a man and figures out one of the stones on the floor triggers a booby trap. Vi uses a metal staff to feel around until she triggers the trap of a high-velocity water spout. She takes the man’s commlink with her.
Vi maneuvers through a series of rooms full of booby traps by relying on the corpses she finds and figuring out where the traps are and how to get around them. She retrieves each commlink on the bodies she encounters.
Finally coming to an ancient bath with no seeable danger or corpse in sight, Vi is about to dive in but is stopped by Kath and his troops. They exchange blaster fire and Vi’s arm is hit, causing her to stumble backwards into the water, where she vanishes from the First Order.
A creature with tentacles grabs her underwater but she fights it off and emerges in the chamber where the artifact – a glowing blue necklace – is kept.
Kath corners her in the chamber, but the traps in the room kill off most of his stromtroopers. Using a detonator to blow up the room, Vi makes a distraction and uses the grappling gun to climb up to the floor above them and flees to safety once she realizes that Kath is still pursuing her.
As she makes her way outside, a dart hits her. She collects the darts on ground around her in hopes it can be used to identify an antidote, but the poison works quickly. Vi collapses on the ground and falls unconscious.
On the verge of death, a local and his companion truffleboar comes across her. He takes her to his grandmother, who gives Vi an antidote.
The First Recruits
After regaining consciousness, Vi meets the young man that rescued her, Dolin, and his grandmother, who doesn’t like outsiders. Dreamy-eyed over the Resistance and working for Leia Organa and the Jedi, Dolin tells Vi he wants to join her. His grandmother forbids him, telling him that the Jedi and the Resistance are just stories and asks Vi to leave. After arguing with her, Dolin decides it’s time for him to get away from the family farm and goes with Vi back to camp, taking his pet truffleboar, Waba, with him.
Vi warns Archex that the First Order is scouting the area and asks Dolin to give her a ride to Oga’s on his crankbike.
Realizing she has no way to disguise herself, Vi stops at Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiques to buy a mask that filers air and will hide her face. She trades the darts she collected at the ruins for one, but it tips off Dok-Ondar to what she was up to.
Now in disguise, Vi arrives at the cantina and presents the necklace to Oga. The crime boss is disappointed in the necklace and was hoping Vi would bring back more, but she hold up on her end of the deal and gives Vi back her cargo. Knowing that someone told the First Order that she is on Batuu, Vi asks Oga if she knows who gave up her location. Without being given an answer, Vi takes Dolin back to the ruins and has him and Archex start working on a base for the Resistance.
Worried that her coworkers might have turned her in, she asks Ylena if she can trust them. Ylena tells her not to worry because Savi wouldn’t let that happen, explaining that the Force favors her though that confuses Vi who is not a follower of the Force.
Sorting through junk, Vi uncovers two kyber crystals and hand them over to Savi’s special collection. Not knowing what they are, Vi asks Ylena to explain them to her. Despite her protests that she isn’t Force-sensitive, Ylena tells her that everyone can feel the Force to some degree and that it favors good people, even if they can’t use the Force themselves.
Checking out Smuggler’s Alley later to find a long-range commlink, Vi encounters Gol the shopkeeper abusing a Chadra-Fan worker, validating his actions with his human-superiority beliefs. Disgusted by the tech bay owner, Vi leaves but hears him hit his worker once she walks away and retaliates. She talks the worker Kriki into joining the Resistance, promising her they would never hurt her and will protect him from Gol.
As they leave, Gol yells for the First Order, forcing them to flee the alley.
Vi lays low while Kriki proves her worth right away. Knowing all the shops in the marketplace and how to be frugal, she buys Vi a tunic to blend in, food and some soap to take back to the new base.
Kriki is hesitant about getting involved in the fighting but because her sister was killed on Hosnian Prime, she feels the call of duty to end the First Order’s reign.
That night, Vi is woken by screaming. She finds a snakelike worm wrapped around Archex and she and Kriki try to fight it off. Using a scalding hot root vegetable, she burns the worm’s soft underbelly, forcing it to let Archex go while Dolin finishes it off.
Archex offers to teach Kriki and Dolin how to shoot a blaster when Kriki mentions she doesn’t know how. Deciding it’s the perfect job for him, Vi assigns him the task of teaching weaponry skills to new recruits. She also discovers that Kriki is a talented mechanic.
As the Resistance group grows closer, Vi muses that for the first time since her father was executed by stormtroopers on her birth world of Chaaktil, a world is feeling like home.
Kriki and Dolin also take jobs with Savi and one day after work, the Gatherers go to Oga’s cantina for drinks. They encounter a handsome, charismatic, but drunken smuggler named Zade. After rejecting his flirtations, Vi offers to pay him to use his long distance-comms, only to learn from Kriki that she overheard him talking about how his ship is compounded and he owes Oga a lot of credits. Vi stays in the cantina after her coworkers leave and eavesdrops on Zade telling a group about how he hates the First Order. Vi wonders if she can recruit him for the Resistance.
Outside the cantina, Vi tries to approach Zade but he insults a patrol group of stormtroopers first. Vi comes to his rescue by killing the stromtroopers and then invites him to sleep at the Resistance base.
While Archex and Zade don’t get along initially, the men grudgingly accept that they have to work together. Kriki fixes up the commlinks Vi collected in the ruins and distributes them among the group.
Discovered
After being on Batuu for weeks, Vi is feeling comfortable living in the outpost, however, the First Order’s presence is disrupting life in the market. Witnessing stormtroopers assault a pair of old women for not giving them information about the Resistance spy, Vi steps in to stop them. During their squabble, the stormtroopers beat her with their blasters, breaking her mask and making it difficult to see. Vi shoots one of the stormtroopers, but the other knocks her down and removes her mask, revealing her identity.
Taken to Kath, she is forcefully strapped into a transport chair for interrogation. After passing out from Kath’s beating, she is then asked to tell him three things: the base’s location, and the locations of Leia Organa and Rey.
Once she refuses to answer, Kath tells her that her capture is personal because he saw her escape with Cardinal back on the Absolution and didn’t stop them. For his failure, he was punished and must complete this mission to regain his honor.
Torturing Vi with devices that cause damage to the eyes, Vi tells the truth and confesses that she has no idea where Leia or Rey are, being separated from the Resistance and all communication from them for so long. Despite acknowledging the probability of this being true, Kath continues to torture her, demanding she give up the location of the Batuuan base. Knowing nothing she says will satisfy him, Vi changes her strategy and tries to convince him to take her to the First Order alive.
A call from General Hux interrupts the interrogation, but Kath fails to report he has Vi, wanting to meet the criteria for his forgiveness by also getting the location of the Batuuan base first.
Back at the Resistance base, Kriki’s perimeter alarms go off, alerting the group. Ylena arrives to tell them the First Order has captured Vi.
They set a rescue effort in motion where Zade shows up to attract the attention of the troops while Dolin sets off explosives in the distance to draw them away from the shuttle.
Zade bashes Kath in the head and renders him unconscious, but just as he’s about to kill him, Archex stops him, wanting to take the officer alive.
Archex enters the transport and fights a stormtrooper guard he personally trained. Weak as he is, he is unable to defeat his former student, but Zade comes in and shoots her in the knee. After freeing Vi, Zade removes the stormtrooper’s helmet and kills her, angering Archex.
The group steals all the medical supplies and some armor from the First Order, using stims on Vi and Archex so they can numb their pain long enough to make a run for it. On their way out, Vi steals Kath’s long-range commlink.
Though they initially try to take Kath with them, the other stormtroopers return and exchange fire. Deciding she can’t risk her team’s safety, Vi shoots Kath in the chest.
Despite not capturing Kath, the Resistance’s efforts are not wasted. Archex gives Kriki a stolen datapad full of First Order codes and tech to scan crates and hack panels. Not wanting to alarm the enemy into swarming the world, Vi asks her to cut all First Order communications.
Kath survives his encounter with the Resistance but worries that Hux will grow suspicious and send another team down to investigate if their communications stay offline. Identifying Vi’s desire to defend civilians, he comes up with a plan to lure her out.
A Plan is Made
The stormtroopers becomes increasingly hostile to the locals and hired a local splicer to fix their comms. Feeling the urgency of the situation, Vi decides they need to come up with a way to force Kath to retreat off-world without catching the attention of the First Order. Dolin asks if they can just blow up the transport, but Vi worries that would be suspicious. Archex suggests they put out a fake message that says Vi is dead and Batuu is no longer a place of interest.
Suggesting both ideas could work, Zade pitches the idea to get Kriki onboard the First Order transport to program a fake message to go out the minute they get into space, then use the message to trigger the motivator to explode and destroy the transport.
Wanting to try to rile up the locals into fighting back, the Resistance decides to try to spread the word of the horrors of the First Order.
At Savi’s Scrapyard, Ylena tells her boss that she wants to help the Resistance but Savi tells her that Oga has forbidden him to get caught up in the fighting. However, he tells Ylena that he won’t stop her from helping Vi and sells her weapons for a generous price.
Zade makes a rousing speech at the cantina, detailing how the First Order intercepted his ship on a delivery to Oga, impounded it, then killed two of his friends on board. The commotion catches the attention of a nearby stormtrooper patrol and Zade has to escape the cantina before he gets shot, not knowing if he inspired anyone to take up the fight.
Thanks to Kriki, Vi is able to finally get a message to Leia. After pleading for help, Leia tells her sadly that the Resistance is unable to spare any people or supplies and that Vi’s on her own.
Gol tips off Kath to the whereabouts of Vi and the Resistance.
The day before the mission, Archex and Vi fight argue over what he should do during the fight. Vi wants him to stay at the base, but Archex, continually feeling useless tell her that he knows she thinks he’s too broken to be any help. He finally reveals his First Order origins to the group, shocking the new recruits. Dolin and Zade aren’t sure if they can trust Archex anymore, until Vi tells them they can. Horrified, Kriki figures out that Archex is the Captain Cardinal that Vi begs to stop hurting her in her sleep.
Despite the tension the confession causes, the Resistance still resolves to fight.
Day of the Battle
Approaching the First Order mobile base, Vi trips on accident, calling the stormtroopers attention earlier than she intended. They beat her with their blasters and walk her to the base where she discovers that Kath is still alive.
Trying to buy more time to draw out all the First Order support in the area, Vi taunts Kath into challenging her to a fistfight. During the fight, Zade is captured by stormtroopers and Vi is forced to give the signal to Dolin, who also fails to shoot his arrows as planned. Just as Vi is about to bite down into her poison tooth to die by suicide rather than face torture again, a group of crankbike riders, led by Dolin, show up and distract the First Order.
Vi and Zade escape and witness two dozen locals fighting back. Kriki reports she’s on the shuttle and working on programming the systems. Trying to buy her time, the pair kill stormtroopers and Kriki’s old boss Gol.
Believing he has Vi in custody, Kath orders retreat, but he stops when a red stormtrooper steps into his path. Vi immediately recognizes the stormtrooper as Cardinal. As he planned, his appearance angers Kath and draws him into a fight, creating another distraction.
Defeating Archex easily, Kath orders a local to kill him but Vi steps in to stop them, telling Kath he can take Cardinal since he’s no longer useful to the Resistance. Though initially hurt by her words, Archex quickly figures out she’s just trying to stall more. As he is taken to the transport, Vi shoots off Kath’s ear.
Though Vi tries to rescue him before the doomed transport takes off, Archex quietly accepts his fate. He sees Vi in the forest one more time, mouthing May the Force be with you.
The fake message successfully goes out to the First Order but the explosion is delayed. In the transport, Archex taunts Kath until he hears the warning beep of the bomb.
On Batuu, the Resistance sees the transport explode and takes in the aftermath of the fighting. Many of Dolin’s family members are dead and survivors are taken to the base to get medical care from PK-Ultra. Realizing how much effort Archex put into building the base, Vi mourns his loss.
Summoning Vi once more, Oga tells her she is pleased with the Resistance for protecting Black Spire but still isn’t taking side. With Gol dead, his tech bay is unmanned and Oga offers it to Kriki. Also rewarding the Resistance, she gives Vi a long-range comm.
Epilogue

Novel Notes
First Order Notes
Since the First Order has eyes all through the Core and Mid-Rim worlds, the safest place for the Resistance is the Outer Rim.
Parts of the novel implies that Kylo Ren is not as great of a leader as he believed he would be. Details fall through the cracks even more now that Hux is on a tight leash.
The First Order uses different tactics for recruitment, preying on children and adults with nothing and luring them into the ranks with promises of food, a home, and a job. However, they don’t recruit most of the time, preferring to just force people in from the worlds they conquered.
After Cardinal’s defection, Hux tweaked the nightly propaganda tracks to emphasize greater loyalty to the Order.
The First Order justifies their human-supremacy ideology by telling their troops they don’t recruit non-humans because their armor is only fitted to human standards.
The First Order drugs their water, but they also have very good caf according to Archex.
The First Order prefers to conquer worlds that already have established industries, rather than just building from the ground up.
Kylo Ren gives his favor to those that bring him Sith and Jedi artifacts.
Female stormtroopers are seen on duty in this novel.
Resistance Notes
Vi emphasizes again that Resistance volunteers can leave whenever they want. They are not forced to fight.
The book drops hints to the Rise of the Resistance ride – guests will be part of the “Green Team” to infiltrate a Star Destroyer. Vi wanted to be part of that mission but was told she couldn’t go because she’s suffering from PTSD.
The Resistance does not know the whole story behind Rey. They have been told she was actually trained by Luke and her involvement in Snoke’s murder was planned.
At some point after Crait, Vi’s team ran out of food. Considering that the Resistance is desperate for supplies, it is likely other groups have faced starvation.
Other Canon Notes
Due to Archex’s botched torturing, Vi has permanent nerve damage and has lost the feeling in two of her fingers.
Vi is really attached to her bright red starbird jacket and it draws a lot of unwanted attention to her. She says it was a gift but didn’t say from who.
Podracing is illegal under the New Republic, but many worlds still hold races in secret.
Savi is holding onto Jedi artifacts for “another person in another time,” considering the park has his Gatherers call Rey the “shining light of hope,” it likely is for her.
The destruction of the Hosnian System is officially known as the Hosnian Cataclysm.
It is implied that Vi connected to the Force in a dying dream, as she sees Leia talking to Poe on another base and then Leia looks directly at her like she knows she’s there.
Vi is not Force-sensitive, but the book heavily implies that the Force favors good people. Vi immediately thinks of Finn, Poe, and Rose when she is told this, noting their heroic hearts.
Savi and Lor San Tekka were old friends. After Lor met Luke, he told Savi he was going to Jakku to fulfill his spiritual destiny.
