Dear Gus & Magnus,

I picked Gus up from Rhett's birthday sleepover this morning. He told me they stayed up all night long, but Jacob said they went to bed about 1am.

Mom and Magnus went to Ellis's birthday party in Beebe this afternoon. Gus and I were going to go to the Trojan game with Jack Bailey and his dad, but the game got postponed after the team student-manager died in a car wreck (!). Instead, we went to Jack's house to hang out. I left Gus there, but then Mom, Mags, and I came back over for dinner because the Baileys hosted a Winter Solstice get-together. We ate Persian food, talked, and then read poems aloud from a book by Hafez -- 14th century Persian poet -- which is a thing that people do while celebrating the winter solstice in Persian culture, apparently. (Negeen is Persian.) Gus spent the night. He's having the best weekend of his life.

Before we went to the Baileys', I came into the kitchen and found that Magnus had gotten his stool from the bathroom and was washing grapes for a snack. When I walked in, he got nervous because he thought he would be in trouble. It was precious.
