Last night I finally finished all the Classic Companions in my Doctor Who series. Decided to put them all together to see how they looked, and I rather like it! A future poster, maybe?
(Before anyone asks about Liz, she's on the as-yet-unfinished UNIT poster. I haven't forgotten her. Please, I've had so many people ask me about Liz)

Saw One of These for Masters, Made One for Classic Companions
Good night to unearthly children, science and history teachers, plucky space orphans, crashed spaceship pilots, Dodos, sailors who just want to get back to work, dolly rocker duchesses, Jacobite pipers, Victorian maidens with anxiety, girl geniuses in sparkly outfits, scientists who are too good for this shit, cute blonde girls with hidden spy talents, determined journalists, imbeciles (affectionate), warrior women, gorgeous Time Ladies, boys who can make things out of numbers, space princesses whose planets got nuked, Australian flight attendants, exiled space princes pretending to be schoolboys, American(?) girls who never asked for this, 80s fitness enthusiasts, and girls who invent bombs for fun.

The Magnus Archive wiki describes the Slaughter as
“The fear of pure, unpredictable, unmotivated violence. The fear of pain coming at sudden, random moments. Manifests as people driven "mad with Slaughter," soldiers, music that either induces Slaughter or warns that Slaughter is coming. Often manifests in imagery of war or murder, and can appear wild like a frenzied killer or calm and regimented like soldiers firing on the battlefield.”

Speed-running Doctor Who - 1st Doctor
Tumblr media
A quick and dirty guide for those who want to get into the show, but don't want to watch everything from the beginning.
For Those Who Just Wanna Get An Idea of the Era
The Romans - S2E4
Tumblr media
If you just want to get your toes wet and watch only one story from the era to get a feel for things, then The Romans is fairly continuity lite and offers a good look at what defines the First Doctor's era. Plus it's only four parts and all of the episodes exist.
Plot Important Episodes
Entrances, Exits, Enemies, Lore Drops, and Character Development (missing episodes will have a * next to it. You will have to find recons and animated versions to watch instead)
Tumblr media
An Unearthly Child - S1E1 (Very First Episode, Introduces The First Doctor, Susan, the Tardis, Ian, and Barbara)
The Daleks - S1E2 (First appearance of the Doctor's arch enemies)
The Edge of Destruction - S1E3 (character development for the tardis team and first hints that the Tardis is alive)
The Aztecs - S1E6 (character development for Barbara and the rules of time travel are defined... which the Doctor continues to break form here on after. Also introduces the Doctor's first onscreen love interest)
The Sensorites - S1E7 (character development for Susan and lore drops regarding the Doctor's home planet and people)
The Dalek Invasion of Earth - S2E2 (Return of the Daleks and Susan's last episode)
The Rescue - S2E3 (introduces Vicki)
The Web Planet - S2E5 (the Animus is the Great Intelligence, Change My Mind!)
The Chase - S2E8 (Barbara and Ian leave, and we meet Steven)
The Time Meddler - S2E9 (We meet another of the Doctor's race for the first time, and he may or may not be The Master)
Mission to the Unknown - S3E2 * (first Doctor lite episode and a prologue to The Dalek Masterplan)
The Myth Makers - S3E3 * (Vicki leaves and Katarina comes aboard)
The Daleks' Master Plan - S3E4 * (Katarina's only full story. The Doctor also meets Bret Von and his sister Sara Kingdom. One of whom may or may not be a reincarnation of a future companion. The return of both the Daleks and the Meddler)
The Massacre - S3E5 * (Character Development for Steven and Dodo is introduced at the end)
The Ark - S3E6 (Dodo's first full story... plus it actually exists)
The Celestial Toymaker - S3E7 * (the first appearance of the Toymaker)
The Savages - S3E9 * (Steven leaves)
The War Machines - S3E10 (Dodo's last story, and we meet Ben and Polly. The first time the Doctor works with the military)
The Smugglers - S4E1 * (the conclusion of One's character arc)
The Tenth Planet - S4E2 * (the first appearance of the Cybermen and the First Doctor's last story)
Personal Favorite and Least Favorite Stories
Because one man's trash is another man's treasure and vice versa
Favorite: Marco Polo - S1E4*
Tumblr media
Least Favorite: The Gunfighters - S3E8
Tumblr media
(disclaimer: no spin-offs or extended universe stuff was considered when making this list)
Up next: The Second Doctor

AI Gender Swapping Companions in Doctor Who from 1963 to 2023 Pt.1 : Classic Who
Susan Foreman (i really don't see it) :
Tumblr media
Ian Curling-Chatter-Chubbing-Chesterton (personally I just see the surprise, that's all) :
Tumblr media
Barbara Wright (uhh maybe the shape of the face ?)
Tumblr media
Vicki (looks like a male greta thunberg)
Tumblr media
Steven Taylor (omg looks like a 2014-fied version of River Pond)
Tumblr media
Katarina (awww babyface)
Tumblr media
Dodo Chaplet (looks like a youtuber in 2007)
Tumblr media
Polly Wright (is that polly's grandchild ??)
Tumblr media
Ben Jackson (spinoff Jodie Whittaker)
Tumblr media
Jamie McCrimmon (it took me 7 tries bc ai thought he was a woman but i mean Jamie is literally a barbie girl)
Tumblr media
Victoria Waterfield (gives off vibes of side character that 20 year old niche Tumblr girls are obsessed with in a 2012 BBC historical show)
Tumblr media
Zoe Heriot (NPCs literally I prefer Queen Zoe)
Tumblr media
Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart (NAH THAT'S JUST MY AUNT ELISAH 💀💀💀)
Tumblr media
Liz Shaw (any londoner NPC)
Tumblr media
Jo Grant (GAH THAT'S KING ARTHUR FROM BBC MERLIN)
Tumblr media
Mike Yates (gives off vibes of a music teacher)
Tumblr media
John Benton (basically female Mike Yates's sister)
Tumblr media
Sarah-Jane Smith (any bass player from the 90s as a matured grown up in 2013)
Tumblr media
Harry Sullivan (this woman could've been the mother who lost her son in a 2015 BBC original reality tv detective show)
Tumblr media
Leela (nah this guy give so much gay jungle boy from the edwardian era which is sooo fitting with Leela)
Tumblr media
obviously we can't do much gender swapping K-9
Romana I (bro is probably the underrated hero who died in a heroic death from a supernatural drama from 2018)
Tumblr media
Romana II (any guy who would sit across you in a library, but without the round glasses)
Tumblr media
Adric (she looks like the indigenous version of Dora)
Tumblr media
Nyssa (I can finally clearly see how it's just the characer gender-swapped !!!)
Tumblr media
Tegan Jovanka (an NPC tbh I prefer slay Queen Tegan)
Tumblr media
Vislor Turlough (why does she seem healthier than male Turlough tho ??)
Tumblr media
We can't really gender-swap Kamelion either
Peri Brown (I CAN SEE FEMALE PERI IN MALE PERI AM I DELULU)
Tumblr media
Melanie Bush (male mel is wayyyy younger than female mel that's for sure)
Tumblr media
Ace McShane (Bro looks like a side-character teacher in a teacher's life)
Tumblr media
Grace Holloway (is bro in a viking netflix "documentary" ??)
Tumblr media
IF THIS POST IS SUCCESSFUL, I'LL DO NEW WHO :)

What's this!? The Doctor has changed into someone else?? I can only imagine what audiences thought was going on when the First Doctor regenerated, but for me this bittersweet end of an era means it's time for the long-awaited ranking of my favorite companions!
Vicki - A girl from the distant future with a sense of adventure to match the Doctor's
Barbara - A teacher from the present day (1963), never confrontational, but secretly the only competent one
Ian - He tries... he runs into danger and always has the worst hiding spots, but he means well and his relationship with Barbara is surprisingly sweet
Dodo - A girl from the present day (1965) with the best fashion sense and unfailing humor, shame she didn't get to do much
Susan - The Doctor's granddaughter, which is fascinating in itself, if only they'd explored it more, she absolutely deserves revenge for being abandoned on a post-Dalek Invasion Earth
Ben - A young sailor from the present day (1966), with a quick wit, and always ready for action, he's surprisingly fun if a bit obnoxious
Polly - She's fun and clever and so far hasn't been able to do more than get kidnapped and be afraid, sadly
Steven - An astronaut from the distant future who spent the past several years in captivity with only a stuffed panda for company, all of which was quickly forgotten in favor of being either aggressive or condescending or both
