Productivity Worklog Pt. 1
I took today's classes and followed the routine pretty well, except that I couldn't practice dance or have a workout, I was out with a friend and took longer than expected. I was inspired by this post to have an honest studyblr. Though I really like my pinterest decorated posts, I'm gonna continue them whenever I get a chance, but i'll definitely try to share my honest worklog, also because I like to flex. đ
In English literature, to remember the dates, I created a whole list of years and added the names and works of the authors I've read till now in short form. And because I didn't have space, I clarified who and what it was on the sticky note. Hopefully, this will work well in long term.
I also watched a few recorded lectures our teacher sent on Dystopian literature. The Last Man had an influence on me that I ended up writing a poem on it.

For Inorganic Chemistry, I revised the first lecture notes of Salt Analysis and I formed this short sticky note on the General Rules of Solubility, I'm very confused in this so i'll have to revise it again and again but it's good to have something in a concise manner.

This is basically just the mess of my books.

So, here's an introduction to my study tables, since I don't have ang space to set up my table and chair to sit on, I take my bed table and use it for studying. And my study table is experiencing the wrath of my laziness, unfortunately.

Work Log no.13
The semester's beginning to wrap up now, so I wanted to use this final worklog to overview the full project and reflect.
For starters, I did complete my goal of 6 animations! If we count the stuff that wasn't for this class or left unfinished, that tally goes up to around 12! (which makes me very happy). I even added some of the pieces I'm especially proud of for my portfolio!
(this is gona be the reflection part)
However, the project went by no means perfectly or smoothly, and while this was disappointing, I did learn about some of my working habits, and I'm excited to try different techniques for future projects.
My main method of spacing out my work for this project was using soft and flexible deadlines instead of intentionally rationing out my work. I divided each project into broad sections that allowed me to change the workload to fit my needs with other classes.
While this did help with my workload for the semester, I don't think this workflow was very productive for me when my goal was to make as many animations as i could. Once my motivation was spent, working on my thesis work became much harder, which eventually led to abandoning using Adobe Animate all together for the later sessions of the project.
I did initially dedicate time to studying in my project plan, but in practice I hardly had the motivation to do so. In the grand scheme of things it was fine, since this project was mostly about producing alot of work, but I still wanted to learn and apply new skills.
I found the time to just sit down and read my resources only once or twice, where I found a very helpful explanation of Animation workflow that I immediately implemented into projects that followed
After this I realized that studying was infact helpful!>!??!? Though i didnt find much more time to read after this point. Moving forward I want to really sit down with my materials and read, likely over the summer!!!
Worklogging became increasingly difficult throughout the semester :(. I feel like having an extra task to complete (setting up a workspace and starting a timer) before being able to start actually working made it feel like more work and made me want to do it less.. However, i see the value that making a worklog has!! and i want to keep trying!!!! dunno if i will continue to use tumblr tho haha :3
this longer writing format felt good for reflecting on progress, but also was easier to lose track of if I fell behind :( but discord was too quick and easy, and i would often forget to stop/start logging or even what I was working on!! Im hoping soon ill find a happy medium, but in terms of new time management strats moving forward im looking into using more analog methods like sticky notes instead of digital.
overall junior thesis was a great learning experience!! (even if i didnt do much studying >w>; )
thank you for reading! :^D

Finals are only 3 weeks away for me.. Is it too late to study now?? (sorry for a generic question)
Not at all! 3 weeks is honestly a good amount of time! Here are a few things you could do:
make a plan - a tricky part to start but necessary! My 2018 free student printables (including 2018 overview + calendar, daily + weekly + monthly planner, 30 habit tracker, class overview and timed worklog) are an easy place to start. The monthly planner is probably a great way to begin. Add in all your important details first (like regular planning so you can figure out gaps in your time) and then you can add in study times later.
plan out each subject - so once youâve identified the gaps in your regular timetable/schedule you can allocate time to your subjects. Since youâre off, the easiest way to set up a schedule is to follow your regular timetable. This means you have a normal start and finish time (like 9am - 3pm). You arenât forcing yourself to study at irregular times/patterns. It is better for your mental health, physical health, etc :-) It also means youâre forced to change subjects as if you were at school. You get breaks and everything but without having to come up with anything yourself. Obviously, you could adapt this to give yourself more time on all your subjects but an easy way to start.
use the pomodoro method - this is 25-minute time blocks to work on a task. Maybe do 3 for one subjects and then move on. An easy way to simplify how and what youâre revising.
if you get bored, change methods or subjects - it can be easy to give up if you hate what youâre doing. Instead, pack the subject away and do something else. It will help improve productivity rather than making you lazier hah!
use the interleaving method - revising through each topic of a subject is important obviously but it is important to go back and review them for a second or even third time. Instead of going in the subjectâs topic in order like: A, B, C, D and working down the line - make sure youâre coming back to them later: A, B, C, D, A, B, C, D.
be sure to use your free time - I would never say study every time you have a spare few times or all day every day. It might be possible but not fun lol. But, if youâve got some extra time and fancy it, do a small bit of revision. It doesnât have to be a long study session but say youâre in the car on the weekend, take your flashcards and read through them! Those added small study sessions should help!
Hope this helps! x
