SUPER BOMBERMAN R 2 fails to provide a good single player experience with its watered-down story mode. Despite that, much fun can be had with R2’s multiplayer offerings. Check out our full review here!

Super Bomberman R 2 Trailer
Konami is celebrating Bomberman’s 40th anniversary by releasing Super Bomberman R 2. This latest game will feature a new story and boasts the most game modes in the Bomberman R series.
Super Bomberman R 2′s new battle mode is Castle. Castle is an online battle mode that splits teams into one attacking side, consisting of 15 players, and one castle side that is tasked with defending treasure chests around the stage. The castle-defending player can fight in stages of the own creation - placing traps, obstacles, and other gimmicks to thwart attackers. The defender will also have access to a “Weapon” armament to help blast away the attackers. The defending player can also use Ellons, new intergalactic beings, to help defend the treasures.
Stage Editor will let players create battle stages for Castle mode. Created stages can be shared online for others to try out.
Physical copies of Super Bomberman R 2 go on sale on September 12, 2023, with digital downloads available on September 13, 2023. The game will release on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam.

As an eldest sibling and professional loss experiencer i feel like White Super Bomberman R is just going through SO MUCH SHIT at once but he's really well adjusted about it.
For starters Pretty's death completely and utterly messed with him. Before Pretty got scrapped, he used to be way less "serious" about things. Like he was still a cheesy little hero, but it was almost child-like. And then Pretty ate shit and he just CHANGED. Around the time R and R2 takes place he does NOT play about people messing with his siblings partially because of this, and don't even get me STARTED on this guy's weird inferiority complex. Like if his siblings get downed he just gets obliterated sooner or later. He straight up almost burst into tears in that one grand prix cutscene. There are probably countless times before Super R where this guy's just been crying alone thinking about what he could've done differently when Pretty got scrapped. I'm pretty sure Pink's been the only one talking about Pretty Bomber, since Aqua seems to have not known her until Pink brought it up. And Pink was like, really little when Pretty died, so...
But I cannot stress this enough: he is handling this like a CHAMP. This guy's just going through every day with the fate of the world and the safety of his family on his shoulders. He's not bottling up his feelings or anything, he's just handling them in quite possibly the healthiest way I've ever seen for someone in a situation like that. Don't get me wrong he still needs a chill pill but White's a complete TROOPER.
You go, dude.

A 2D version of the first Super Bomberman R, long before the announcement of R2 revealed they would continue to segregate the cover art and cutscene art from the Unity-tier ingame graphics.

Now that Super Bomberman R2 is out on all major platforms, I can safely upload this video I worked on throughout August. As stated in the description, it is a compilation of Konami characters doing their usual routine while relying on cartoon physics. In example, Tako from the Parodius series.
He first does a dance as usual, until he delivers a hardcore gamer a big kiss in the face by making them explode in front of his head. Take that of what you will. Despite the fact the series never made its release in the US, I fully appreciate the design and appeal of Tako.
Back before Konami entered the gambling scene while kicking Heidi Kajolicka out of the picture (because in my vision, a belly crawling snake ain't a mascot, so how the hell is an actual snake supposed to be a mascot anyway?), I do remember my first experience with Konami that featured Frogger as a 1981 cab. It's one of those arcade games where you guide five frogs back home while avoiding heavy traffic, dangerous animals and even water. And this was when my passionate love for frogs hit me, skyrocketing into creating frog characters like Froc, for whom I wanna make a new project of him in the future.
Frogger also makes an appearance in this video, so if you need a refresher before this came into my mind, I strongly recommend going here.
And considering Super Bomberman R didnt include Louie, the second made amends of it. As for the first installment, it's a damn shame seeing there was no actual sign of him; but at least he originated in a PC Engine game simply known as Bomberman 94 around December. Believe me when I say it, he ain't no big nose clone! Yeah, that oughta put you down for it.
Please excuse me while I go and sell my copy of Super Bomberman R so I can continue saving up and consider R2 as another birthday present. Good thing the dinos led me out of the whole hot mess.

Xbox Games Showcase 2023 Immediate Thoughts!
That ended, uh, sooner than expected. I thought we were getting 1 hour and a half of the Xbox Showcase and then a half hour Starfield presentation... turns out it was just a single hour for the Xbox Showcase. As I’ve no interest in Starfield, I’m here to share my immediate thoughts on this year’s Xbox Showcase right now.
So we start things off with Fable, which instantly made me happy. The humour is there and the Jack and the Giant Beanstalk theme presented was a surprise. Can’t be sure if gameplay was shown, though didn’t look it and sadly no release date. It exists though and the promise of Fable was what cemented my decision for an Xbox Series X day one. Hopefully it won’t turn out like Fable Legends... which cemented my decision to purchase an Xbox One.
We then follow up the hopefully coincidental theme of small women meeting giants (the Pure Xbox chat got a good laugh out of my joke) with South of Midnight. It doesn’t look like the rumoured harpy game that Compulsion Games were said to be working on but I’ll note myself as intrigued for it.
Avowed popped up and... was a tad disappointing. It looks so far like a more colourful and magic heavy elder scrolls game. My predictions were also off on it being Xbox’s Holiday 2023 game.
Path of the Goddess by Capcom has a lovely artistic flair, both visually and in it’s extra animation flourish to a simple dodge roll. It was a cool sight seeing the protagonist sweep up the inky enemies as if it were a cleaning game.
Jusant was a rare thing to see in this Showcase; a 2023 releasing game. This mountain climbing game feels serene, cute and atmospheric from the trailer alone with a sprinkling of foreboding. If it has a physical release, then this may well be one of my 2023 game purchases alongside Super Bomberman R2 and Sonic Superstars.
Dungeons of Hinterberg; hopefully I spelt that right. Very vibrant action game with plenty of rail grinding and shifting of the camera. Some neat settings were displayed, so this 2024 release is one I shall look out for more info on.
Towerborne turns out to be a co-op fantasy beat em up, which wasn’t what I was expecting but I adore all I’ve seen so far.
The lack of 2023 games was disappointing but it seems like 2024 is going to be pretty packed. As someone who highly favours physical releases, I’m a little weary about getting my hopes up for these games but I do prefer to be optimistic. What are some of the games from this year’s Xbox Showcase that you liked seeing? Feel free to say!
