i constantly wonder what kuusuke was thinking when creating the cat-tank.

did he just come up with the idea and was like "aha, this'll get him!"

the fact that kuusuke was planning it for at least a couple months is very telling, like he had TIME and still went through with it.

My birthday is next week! In celebration I bought myself an aquarium chiller. For the first time ever I’m having a hard time keeping Otto’s tank as cool as I’d like to. I know it’ll be worse in the Summer so I decided to finally take the plunge.

#I know the problem is that the corner of his tank gets direct sunlight from the window which obviously heats up the water #but it was literally the only spot I could put the tank #it’s not TERRIBLE but I usually try to keep him around 62 degrees and he’s up to 65 #Otto #my post #also thank u to Amazon for letting me do a payment plan #bc holy shit those bitches are EXPENSIVE

i have to fight my dad about doing stuff for me when i ask for him to show me how to do it myself but agGHHhhhhHHHhh

#mostly i am convinced he is going to get my car fixed WRONG bc he thinks he understands the problem better than me #because he took my car for a thirty minute drive (leaving me with an empty tank ☺️) when i drive it all the time #he says the noise happens when you turn right as well as left and it simply does not #have never heard it when i turn right #everyone who hears it or i describe the problem to says it’s a broken tie rod but he insists it’s the brakes #besides which. i ask how to do things bc i am TRYING to be more INDEPENDENT #and he thinks he is being HELPFUL which he kind of is but at the expense of my GROWTH #literally all i asked is if i should take the car to the dealer or a mechanic and he took over the whole thing

working at a pet store has proven to me that if I see a certain animal (or fish) for more than 3 consecutive days I am fully ready to die for it

and it hurts me knowing that the little turtles, fishies and stray cat that we have might be going into homes that either don't know or don't want to provide proper care for them

#personal #the hours i have spent this week #trying to see if i can afford to get a big enough water tank for the turtles and the fishies #too many hours #unfortunately i can't justify the upfront costs :/#why are water tanks so damn expensive (wdym the tank for creating a mini isolated ecosystem would be costly. unbelievable)#pain #also the pet store i'm in only has captive bred fishies and turtles don't you start on me #i wouldn't stay if they were bringing in wild captures #the focus is on cat and dog items/consumables

I hadn't realized until just now how much that plant in the middle has grown since I planted it about a year ago...

#there are also two baby plants that it made hanging out in the back #I'm slowly replacing all of the plastic plants with real ones but they can get expensive #though if i let this guy keep going then I'll have a fucking jungle #it tried to spread outside the fish tank even!

Loser behavior is buying a bunch of expensive fish without doing your research first and then having them die on you so u sell the rest bc u already lost money with all the expensive equipment, food, animals u bought without thinking things through

I went to the dentist today (it went fine) and while my mom was at reception, I overheard the cost of my appointment. My parents don't tell me the numbers because they don't want me to feel guilty, but I do feel guilty about it. Both of my parents have jobs and things were finally starting to get better financially for us, and now I feel like I'm making them throw all of that away.

They have to take so much time off work to take me to appointments, they have to pay for everything, they worry about me, and I can't even wash my own hair. I know they will always love me, and they have made it very clear I can stay at home as long as I need. I just feel like I'm not doing enough, or anything really.

#it was just a routine check. nothing wild. but it was over 400 dollars ._.#and my medications are expensive too :( and i dont even take everything im supposed to 😭#idk. i had a pretty good day today. its just that (lack of) insurance is getting scary ._.#i wish i could take care of myself but the best i can do is so infrequent.#and i dont qualify for home care because i live with my family.#and my handicap parking pass expired last month and i forgot to ask for a renewal.#and i still need to see my therapist more often but i CANNOT afford it and i just. ugh. :(#things are fine financially like its not a crisis or anything. its just.#we're back to small grocery trips and half tanks of gas. and those are small things but its a step back.#we still cant replace the washing machine even though its shaking itself apart.#and the dining room floor is falling apart.#i think i just need to sleep. its 7am. hopefully i feel better in the morning.#batty blogging #text

why have i suddenly been gripped with the desire to get back into fishkeeping

#Seven.txt #fish stuff #fishkeeping #fish keeping #fishblr #i’m not complaining cause i’ve lowkey missed feeling so passionate about the hobby but. my brain couldn’t have picked a less convenient tim #me: trying to spend less money and manage my time better #my brain: hey hey hey you know what you should do? you should get back into a really expensive and time-consuming hobby!!! it’ll be fun!!!#and i mean. it’s not like i truly ever got out of it i just sort of dialed back the number of tanks and fish i have over the past few years #so i’ve currently got a bunch of empty tanks and equipment sitting around collecting dust #i do still have three fish that i thought would be my last for a While. i’ve had them for a number of years and they’re all old by now #so i’m just trying to help them live the rest of their days as comfortably as they can #well. Paprika and Thing One are near their end but in spite of the Mystery Growth on Thing Two’s head that little guy is still doing fine #so he could still be here for awhile. who knows. but anyways #fishkeeping was one of my first really intense and long lasting special interests/hyperfixations so it’s such a strange feeling #to have it come back so strongly and for no obvious reason. but. that’s the nature of fixations i suppose!#insert Drake and Josh ‘I do not control the hyperfixation’ meme here #anyways. the project to finally set up the 75gal that’s been sitting empty for years is finally underway!!! so that’s exciting!#now i’ve got to make a list of things i need and find somewhere to set up a quarantine tank. hrmmm #and also cry over the fact that the filter i need is 200 dollars ahahahaaaaa why did my brain have to latch onto this hobby oh my god #oh man. i’ve gotta order the snails and activated media before the weather gets any warmer or they’ll cook in the bag on the way here ugh #This Post Brought To You By- me sitting here refreshing my email every 10 mins. waiting for Cynthia to let me know if she still has #these two adorable Sakura Ranchus avaliable to purchase. i mean. they were listed in Sep. 2021 so i will be Shocked if she still has them #but maybe the universe will smile upon me and i'll get lucky!

God I really really wish I had the energy / spoons / patience required to keep a successful fish tank. I really loved keeping betta’s as a teen (even if I now shudder at my care, sorry fishies), and would LOVE to do it again, but I worry I would lack the memory / dedication to keep up with it, yanno? like remembering to do water changes and test the water and keep up with filter replacements.... seems like a lot 😅😅

#i have memory issues for context #i could only do it if i set up a lot of reminders on my phone and even still I'm like. not sure I could commit haha #idk maybe I should look into getting and setting up a planted tank? like just plants?#that would take care of the worry about ethics AND if that goes well and I think I can do a fish. then get a betta :)#idk I may not though. tanks are expensive
