HI I'M SO GLAD TO SEE ANOTHER PERSON WHO LIKES KAIGAKU AND ALSO I LOVE YOUR ART ITS SO GOOD!!
OMGG THANK YOU SOO MUCH ! It makes me so happy !
And yeah ! I really like Kaigaku, I think he's such an interesting character, and it's sad that he's so hated. Even as an anime-only I can tell he had a lot of wasted potential, if only he had met the right people and hadn't been so unlucky.
I'm really glad that you like my art, thank you so much !

fox ridge looks super cool! (and kinda gives me a found footage vibe?) i would love to know more about the appalachian cave vampires :0
AA THANK YOU SM it's my absolute favourite of my stories I love it so much
Tumblr media
For years now, the small virginian town of Fox Ridge has been quietly tormented by a gang of strange animalistic vampires, who, unbeknownst to the locals, reside in the caves just outside of town. Human and animal bones showing up in backyards, missing pets and even missing people, all the work of these bizarre undead creatures and their begrudging leader, Sawyer.
In the summer of 1972, the town experiences its worst string of disappearances to date, with 5 locals going missing and presumed dead leaving only a literal trail of blood behind. One of the victims being the childhood best friend of Curtis, local naive outdoorsman and nutjob stoner. When Curtis finds bloody scraps of his friends favourite jacket, he's drawn into the woods these bloodsuckers call home, spending days at a time camping and getting high, hoping for some sort of clue as to what happened. Curtis gets his wish, though it's not what he expects when he encounters the mysterious Sawyer, a one-hundred-and-something year old vampire and the "father" of these brutal bloodsuckers, having turned them in the 40 odd years since his own death under mysterious circumstances while working in the mines. (artwork by @videoviolence)
Tumblr media
Dismayed with the behaviour of his creations, Sawyer vows to help Curtis, though the man is now suspected of murder due to his frequent outings aligning with even more disappearances, and the subject of an amateur investigation helmed by the towns trigger happy, film obsessed deputy. All while being drooled over by Sawyer's treacherous and starving vampire family.....who will survive? and what will be left of them?

I think you should try doing like, you know Brainstorming? Something like that! You take ur blorbo like idk, Scar for an example
Then you are like "ok i love his elf aesthetic" and go on pinterest/tumblr/insta or whatever and look for moodboards! Gifs! Small things you think might fit! Look at playlist with music that fits! Maybe theres elvencore playlists, elven aesthetic moodboards or inspired outfits! And if you wanna expand on a character you gotta think "where are they from, what is their relationship with other characters"
And most importantly
"Who are they" who EXACTLY are they? As a person! As a friend! As a partner! As a sibling or what other role they have in other peoples lives! Are they a scam artist at heart? Do they hide some deeper troubles, internalized ableism or homophobia or self worth issues or are they content with who they are? Do they wanna stay as they are? Do they strive to be something else? Do they want to be better or worse or just different from what they are now?
What is the setting they are in! Is it normal vanilla surroundings or aus? Modern au? Medieval au? Solarpunk or cyberspace or something else? Do a little thinking on the surroundinh world and then project it onto the character! Give scar a fucking, walking aid that is magical, magicked with fae spells to be able to shrink down (as an example) or maybe theres other spells!
The world influences the character as muxh as the character influences the world! And the world around them inspires the character as much as the character inspires the world around it!
Ive got an au with a specific selfmade setting rn where theres coldlands and warmlands, and the struggle between two character from both sides each and how they have to work around the whole temperature thing
Like you can think of a setting first if it helps establish the character, it helps me at least ehdhejdj
I hope this wasnt too ranty, i get carried away easily,,,,
-21
Thats actually a pretty good advice!! Hope it doesn't sound weird when i say i gonna try it out with this set of questions - it might be easier for me working with a set questions that are already there
I might struggle with the worldbuilding a bit but then I could also follow the same questions, can't I?
your au btw sounds awesome :D
Also dont worry its not really ranty to me it actually helped me a lot
thank you ^^

Hi. I don’t usually send asks but I just wanted to say I love your stuff (especially your Angel Charles and all your stuff on Quentin) and your a huge inspiration to me. I want to get back into writing because of you. Just thank you so much 💟
🥺❤️
Wow. When I woke up, I didn't expect this to be the first thing I saw like it's so sweet I can't even begin to say how happy this made me.
Those two things, Quentin and the Angelic Lore was always my favorite thing to quite about. Like I love sharing whats floating in my head. I should try to get out of my writer's block funk.
Since I've been in such a depressed and anxious mood lately so to know I've made such an impact on another person really pulled at my heart strings.
I do hope you find that spark to start writing again and I'm right here, rooting for you 😊

Hey there Ava, I wanted to say something in regards to those posts you recently made about your characters and art as a whole. Apologies in advance for the essay ahead, I had a lot to say and I really feel passionate about this because, hey, I've been there and I don't want to see you discouraged over this. First I want you to know that you aren't alone- when I was your age and still learning the ropes of art I felt exactly the same. All my friends around me what felt like suddenly jumped in their skills and only perfected their characters (design and story/personality-wise) while I sat stagnated in both. My characters were one-dimensional and I had little to no understanding of the major principles of art. And without a doubt, it is discouraging because they're being noticed for it and I hadn't made any ground in improvement at the time. This is a horribly common feeling especially for those without any access to formal training/teaching and beginners alike. Most of my friends lived in places where they could easily gain professional guidance and tools (usually through college, many countries allow you to jump to college while still in mid-teen years onwards), while I remember having to teach myself everything and struggling to learn even the most basic digital programs. Neither my high school or college (that I went to art classes specifically for, even the introductory ones) ever went in-depth when teaching the basics, and so generally I never had that strong foundation all my friends built onto. It's painful, but it's going to be okay because there are ways to help this. Now real quick, I'm going to go ahead and address what you were saying about your characters and art. Being completely honest, you were one of the first people I followed when joining this site, and I've really enjoyed seeing your work. While you may think that others would ignore your work over currently higher-skilled artists, I need you to know that there is a certain joy in watching someone find their way in a skill and grow within it. Drawing and designing characters (and yes, even writing them regarding their backstories/personalities) is a skill. For some, naturally they jump off and fly right away, with little to no friction. But for others? There may need to be a little more guidance and work. Some people also learn more slowly than others, and that's nothing to be ashamed of. You do not "suck" at these things. You just may need more supplementary sources to help guide your growth is all. That leads me into my next point;
When I said that you aren't alone in this, I don't just mean "I've been there". I also mean, there's an insane amount of free sources that are online you can use to push yourself forward. Pinterest has a lot of good references ranging from 'how to draw this' to 'something I can use for inspiration' and you can easily amass a huge collection for just about any of your drawing needs. Also YouTube! I stagnated in my art and designs for years, but when I started actively seeking out tutorials my skills slowly-- very slowly-- grew and I was able to not only learn new things but also build off of them from there on. Some of my favorite tutorial/art/design tips channels are: -Marc Brunet (short and sweet, easily digestible tutorials on drawing from a professional game artist turned art teacher. Just about anything drawing related is on his channel). -Brookes Eggleston - Character Design Forge (a channel specifically for improving character design (and a few tips on personality qualities as well) and some of the principles you can use to apply when designing). Both of these channels also have tips for the whole mental aspect of these things, which is very encouraging and helps when trying to get out of a mindset that may be hindering you and your progress, including artblock and feelings of inadequacy. I apologize again for the long ask, but I really hope this helps you in some way! Know that you're not in this journey alone and that with some time and a little bit of guidance, you will improve-- which I want to also say that it's much easier for others to see than for you to. At the end of the day, try to be a little more compassionate towards yourself, because it can only get better and I know you're doing your best. The fact that you're posting your art and characters online like this is already inspiring enough to many who are afraid to even start, and I genuinely mean that from experience. As scary as it is, maybe ask some of your friends or artists in general that you look up to for tips, most people are happy to provide insight on their work when asked politely- and definitely seek out some resources for yourself as well, those that I mentioned are without a doubt a good start. I wish you all the best of luck, and please take care! <3
Thank you there friend for this long ask. After reading this, I think I forgot something important! I already know these things and I have't tried it out recently! Thank you so much for reminding me and everyone who might come across this that we are indeed not alone. I am truly touched and I'll make sure to never underestimate myself again! Sadly I don't know exactly who you are (Although I assume you were like the first one to like the rant post I just made) but thank you again. And I hope that maybe you can like DM me? Anyways, thank you so much!
