Violet Harmon's Taste in Music: Overview & Analysis
Including music Vi mentions, music that was in the original script, songs she listens to, and my Violet-inspired playlist.
Music in the original script:
In Pilot, the script originally intended for one of The Smiths songs to play during the scene where Tate and Violet show each other their scars.
Instead, Violet just mentions Morrissey, and the song Special Death by Mirah plays for a second time in the episode!
During this same sequence, instead of asking Tate if he wants to listen to Morrissey, Violet mentions a band named Craven. I think this is a made-up band name since I couldn't find any info about it! Here's an excerpt from the script:
The original script for Pilot is linked here if you're interested!
Music Violet mentioned in AHS:
In Pilot, Violet asks Tate, "Do you wanna listen to Morrissey? He's cool, and pissy, and he hates everyone and everything."
Violet wore a band tee that has The Kinks Word of Mouth album at on it (in Halloween Part: 1).
Vi mentions another punk band in Afterbirth. While looking through Gabe's CD collection, she asks him, "Don't you have any Ramones? Like Animal Boy or Too Tough to Die?"
She also tells Gabe that he has "horrible taste in music" because he owns a Butthole Surfers CD.
Songs Vi listened to throughout the show:
These are all songs that either play in scenes Violet is in or songs she directly listens to!
Special Death by Mirah (twice, in Pilot)
Blood Gets Thin by Pete and the Pirates (Pilot)
Flickers by Son Lux (Pilot)
Do you by Carina Round (Home Invasion)
Big Mother by Feeding People (Halloween: Part 1)
Lavender Moon by Haroula Rose (Halloween: Part 1)
I the Sun by Lights On (Piggy Piggy)
Don't Look Back by Kissing Cousins (Open House)
Harsh Realm by Widowspeak (Open House)
Hate My Way by Throwing Muses (Smoldering Children)
Hazard by Gossling (Smoldering Children)
El Infiél by Marvelous Toy (Afterbirth)
Tainted Love by Hannah Peel (Return to Murder House)
Spirits in the Material World by The Police (Return to Murder House)
And finally, here's my Violet-inspired playlist:
I'm constantly adding to this playlist so there will be a lot more songs on it soon :)
This has been in my drafts for a longgg time so I'm happy it's finally finished! I hope you enjoyed, thanks for reading <3!

After a massive argument with the other Beatles (which Paul has described as "the crack in the Liberty Bell"), Paul helps Steve Miller record My Dark Hour. He played drums, bass and guitar and sang backing vocals.
According to the Paul McCartney project he "didn’t receive a composer credit", but I'm going to go out on a limb here:
My dark hour
My dark hour
You know it's drivin' me wild
Well, well, I went to see the doctor
And I had my fortune read
And you know, the doctor told me
"Son, you better stay in bed"
Who's that comin' down that road
Looks like he's carryin' a heavy load
What's that word that he started to say?
Wanna come with me on my way?
My dark hour, a mother nature's child
My dark hour, oh, it's drivin' me wild
Well, I went (to see the doctor)
Just to have (my fortune read)
Well, well, well, well, well
(The doctor told me)
"Son, stay in bed"
So do you think these sinners will fall
Or do you think they'll survive us all?
Well, well, well, well, a-down this road
Won't you help me carry my load?
My dark hour, mother nature's child
My dark hour, oh-oh, it's drivin' me wild
Oh-oh-oh, mother nature's child
Oh, yeah, oh, oh, yeah
Oh, oh, oh, oh, yeah
