every place those beams of light from the wedge touched spawned a giant monster and these places are are super rich in astral energy of 1 element

So Naomi stuck the iron mask onto alphen, stuffed him into a starship where he was put is suspended animation for 300 years as the ship landed on dahna and remained undisturbed for 300 years until the life support system broke down and alphen woke up. i guess its plausible no one stumbled upon it since shortly after landing the renans invaded and everyone was busy.

oh? and its rinwell that expresses hope that they can talk things out and reach peaceful coexistence. she’s sure changed.

so shionne can’t die. right when shionne and alphen meet and she gets stabbed in the chest she explains it away that the soldier has only hit her master core and that stopped them from hitting any of her vitals, and i believed that ridiculous explanation because its not like anything else was making sense either. so when she got stabbed by volran i assumed the same had happened.

the second opening is also cool. but the 1st has got that unmatched drama. looking off a cliff (especially into the sunrise) might be cliche as all hell but i love it. the symbolismmmmmm

If dahna is light astral energy and shionne’s thorns are darkness... i feel like im just waiting for a piece to snap the whole picture into focus. the renas alma composed of all 6 elements. how did shionne find out she needed the renas alma. and the powers of the maiden can suppress the thorns/darkness. apocalypse maiden shionne. but why would the thorns wipe out all of existence. dahna, rena, there feels like an imbalance in the astral energy, light and dark.

that was a good line, we’ve all been on this journey to live, but you [shionne] have been on this journey to die. so this was the burden we’ve seen shionne wrestling with ever since pelegion. if she going to die either way either through the thorns consuming her and all of existence, or the renas alma burning it away including her then she would choose the later. but through her new friends she’s learned to love living and now doesn’t want to part from everyone.

I’ve noticed this a couple times, but alphen is a person on his own right. tales is know for its excellent character writing but there’s always a danger with jrpg protags that the dev are pandering to the cishet Gamers. so its good that alphen isnt a bland self insert character nor a character so stripped of anything offensive as to be a non threatening male a soft boy. and now that the preface is over, alphen talks over people, shionne especially and while from a character writing perspective that’s fine, i dislike the narrative framing of it where the writers frame alphen as right and shionne as in the wrong. let me be clear, this is not a discussion of of what shionne/alphen should/should not have done, this is about the internal structure to how the game developers wrote these scenes. Shionne will say something that the genre savvy will know is the wrong thing like that she’s going to lenegis alone which is a set up for alphen to shut the idea down. So the writers set up shionne and alphen’s wills to be opposition and then always have alphen win. That shionne is the one making irrational decisions (which she is but only because they wrote her doing so) and alphen is the one in the right. In doing so the writers have alphen dismissing shionne’s decisions and opinions which would actually be a very interesting character flaw to delve into but i’d be suprised in the game delves into that. also i should note this isn’t a big complaint most series do far worse its just something i’ve noticed

loneliness. alphen’s 300 year nap, shionne’s thorns, rinwell’s astral arts and dead family, law’s also dead family and his time is cyslodia, dohalim refusing to form connections and allowing himself to be misrepresented, kisara’s also dead family.

She does know you and your tendency to hare off like the lone ranger despite saying you won’t a little too well...(probably a legacy of life where he really could trust and rely on nobody and/or tried to protect noona from the bad stuff to the extreme.) She trusts he loves her and he is not a murderer and is well-intentioned, but trust on that basic level doesn’t mean she doesn’t also know how he thinks and his less than ideal points either. She loves him but she is realistic about him too and I love it.

She takes off her badge (symbolism!) and then he moves her out of the way of the bicycle (which is a nice reminder of how ingrained it is in him to protect her, of course that knife was blunt!) and her badge gets run over and cracked. Symbolismmmmmm!

Mikey - his artistic creativity, his unique view on the world and his happiness. What was the first thing Mikey tried to do when he wanted to prove he was ready to be serious? Took away part of the color that made him stand out.

Donnie - the inventions in the background symbolize his intelligence, but since Splinter specifically remembered a time when Donnie was upset, I think he also considers his emotional side important (as much as Donnie may try to hide it. This ‘softness’ can also connect to his theatrical personality, which are genuine even with how over the top they can be) Ninjas aren’t known for being emotional, but for Donnie, it’s what drives him the most sometimes

Leo - his plans and how enthusiastic he is about them, no matter how silly they may be. He may not be the leader, but he’s still willing to try bold ideas if he feels good about them. The pose he’s striking here also references the ‘cool guy’ persona he tries to have. While Mikey’s the one that thinks out of the box, Leo can be incredibly crafty

Raph - Determination to do things HIS way, and his bold and unabashed strength. Are there easier ways to squish lemons? Yeah. Are their smarter ways to fight? Yeah. But that doesn’t matter, because Smash and Bash is just the way Raph rolls - and while it’s not a full proof plan, sometimes it’s just what they need - like when they were trapped in Draxum’s cage earlier in the epi
