Drawing Archet rn and their design is scritching my brain and I love Archet so much I need more Archet content and headcanons please and thank you

I'm going through an art rut kinda but I can't give some fun facts about him!!!

Archet wears odd earrings, changing them practically every day. These earrings usually correspond to his outfit colorwise and the mindset he wants for the day(if his outfit is blue, he may wear cool toned earrings to match or yellow to pop out, and if he wishes for luck he may wear a set of rabbit's foot and four leaf clover earrings) they do not have to have symmetry

They don't like mirrors or anything they can see their face in(they don't find themselves ugly. There's just a lore reason I haven't sorted out yet)

They know the when, where, and why they are going to die

If you ask them about their death, they will deadpan until you change the topic

Their favorite animal is the armadillo

They are anemic and have to take iron pills

They have two sets of eyelids, one being see-through and closing in the opposite direction from usual

They're an amazing swimmer and can breath under water

They can see in the dark

Their glasses are usually squared, but sometimes the frames change to funky shapes

They HATE Dr. Bright like fully despise the guy. Why? You'll have to see...(I haven't drawn it yet)

They are immune to anything that could kill them that isn't their set death date. This is something the foundation has thought of using to their advantage, but they decided otherwise at least until Archet tells them.

Though he works there, he will always take the time to hate on the foundation. He is a hater at heart.

After Alto Clef dies, he learns how to play the ukulele and pins Clef's hat to his office wall. He also takes over Clef's position and regularly visits Meri

They love architecture(I actually named them after this), archery(I DID NOT name them after this, PINTEREST), and entomology

They care A LOT about the anomaly kids in foundation care or otherwise

Onto gen 3, which I'm going to split into two parts: this one/the one most would think of as gen 3, and then another for the Orre games. Why? Well, they're still pokemon rpgs where you catch and collect team members, and I enjoyed them.

But for now: Hoenn

We're going to review May first because she's arguably the face of gen 3 for most people, whether you're an anime only, game only, both, or a manga fan for Sapphire. She's the second ever FeMC for the series, and arguably one of the best and unique protagonist designs for the series as well. As a kid, like 8 or so, I actually remembered having a small crush on her.

The art style is a natural progression from gen 2's water colors, this time appearing digital. Sugimori had a real gift for stylistic anatomy with healthy and proportions in the legs in particular- maybe not so much the torso, but again- stylistic. The anatomy definitely reads like an active young person that runs or bikes everywhere- something lost on newer protagonists somewhere after gen 5 or 6 imo.

The outfit is definitely not something you'd ever catch a real person wearing, but it is cool, cute, and stylized af, and probably my favorite depiction of her. It screams ADVENTURE in a way newer gens don't, and the color choices are a wonderful choice of protagonist red that you'd usually only see in boy characters. The hair and bandana is a LOOK, even if I can't really tell what's going in with the hair. The shirt is a neat choice with a collar that makes it read as sort of a compression shirt, and the bike shorts are definitely a necessity getting around Hoenn, although the white skirt is probably there just to prevent it from just being a spats situation in a time where it wasn't really the norm (norm as in yoga pants or leggings and such from today). The gloves are a nice touch as well, although I might would have either made them match her shoes, her shoes match her gloves, or just make them fingerless gloves. The shoes feel a little off as well, but Sugimori was probably still figuring out how to draw those tbh. The hip bag actually kind of works colorwise and on a design stand point, but maybe not so much on a practical level- but then again, practical designs in a fictional setting would be kind of boring, and she'd probably just be in a tank top and short shorts like most girls in the humid summer if that was the case. In the anime,

May is about Ash's age, but the anime is always inconsistent with the games on this- Kiawe for instance is close to Captain retirement age in the games but close to Ash's age in the anime. Design alone, Game RS May is a good blank slate, basically being whatever age range you want and filling whatever personality traits you want as a main character.

We'll hold off on judging her as a rival, but RS May is an easy 9/10 just for design as a FeMC, but she does lose a few points for being a rival. We'll see soon

Because we're going to immediately hop to her Emerald redesign, the first enhanced version redesign we'd get in the series. As an art style, we see the iconic and most recognizable pokemon style finally realized, just a step before gen 4. It might have been easier to recolor her outfit green and call it a day- but Game Freak still had gumption back in the day and gave her a whole new wardrobe. It's a bit simpler in build, now with a sort of zip up polo shirt dress over her bike shorts, and the hip bag actually really helping as a sort of belt to help tie the look together. Mr Sugimori finally figured out that shoes aren't severed Mobile Suit Gundam feet- tragic I know- but at the same time these look more like actual shoes and fit like them too. The gloves are more or less the same functionally, but now with a window to see her hand- I've had gardening gloves like that, maybe it serves to help make it easier to slide them off and on. The only other noted differences are the colors, now a mostly orange with green accents- something that kind of works weirdly, although I'd definitely prefer how the Sapphire blue color for the manga works for this outfit. As for May herself, the body is actually slightly more proportional.

As I said, RS May is probably my favorite look, and I kind of prefer how the original collar fits, but the exposed shoulder look does leave it as a pretty cute fashion statement. I'd say another 9/10, although maybe an 8.5 because something is slightly off that I can't put what.

As a RIVAL, May is interesting for being the first potential girl rival and opposite gender rival as well, and most original gen 3 players will tell you *war stories* about your encounter with her on Route 110- that damn Marshtomp used to be the bane of my existence! But once you get past that, she isn't really as hard to beat anymore, and in RSE she just stops being a threat at some point, choosing to turn back after an optional battle in Lilicove with a non fully evolved Starter. I guess it's unique, but it doesn't really bring the most confidence to her as a trainer- which she didn't really have much of tbh, seemingly a bit shy and hopeful that we'd be friends and irritated that we beat her later on (according to Scott in Emerald anyway). Her team is mostly forgettable as well, with mostly a focus between fire, water, and grass based on the starter chosen, and only having 4 at at her final battle with unevolved pokemon that repeat types. As a character, I kind of like her role as a kind of mentor, but she's not a good rival. 6/10 on the rival front

Onto the MaleC, Brendan. I, like many, thought he had white hair instead of a hat, and honestly I think I prefer thinking of it as hair and headband after seeing it updated in ORAS. Brendan and May always made me think of the "Cool Trainer" class from the early gens, and the fit for Brendan in RS certainly fits that bill for the stylization alone. The outfit, like May, is very unconventional for an MC for the series, but a pretty interesting one that fits together almost seamlessly in terms of color coordination- although maybe a little too warm for Hoenn.

The shoes do kind of throw me off a little- like I said with May- Sugimori was still sort of figuring out how those work, although I do think the Adventures manga interpretation of them being super powered air shoes would definitely fit that bill. But, those are not the kind of shoes you tuck your pants into, imo. I don't think I'd wear this outfit in real life- mainly because it's so unique and out there that I don't think I reasonably could. Still, a cool design, and even though he has a pretty unique one, i can personally say he is a fun blank slate with a pretty adjustable age range. 8/10

Emerald Brendan is remarkably worse and better than RS Brendan depending on where you look. Up top? Remarkable improvement and something I'd imagine myself wearing in my own pokeverse as a kid. The shirt is cool and the gloves are too, plus the hat looks even more like hair with an additional black added. From the bottom? God have mercy, Brendan, WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING, MY BOY??? Shorts AND pants? It's one or the other, dude! I'd prefer pants, but if you're going to wear something underneath shorts, at least let them be tights. I guess it was an old fad, but old for a reason. I guess it isn't the worst thing ever, but it is... distracting. 7/10

Rival Brendan isn't someone I've personally encountered because I usually PLAY as him, but accounts from friends that play the girl have told me he's basically just a sexist May. I can't rank that because I don't know it

I know you may be asking "wtf is Wally doing here?" Well, we only battle him all of twice, and once was just essentially wiping out his Ralts- but, I respect the gumption of us helping him catch a pokemon when he was sickly to meeting us all the way at Victory Road. It's enough I'd certainly consider him a rival if for nothing else than an honorary role and respect.

Wally is a sickly kid a little younger than us- he's definitely not in it for the fashion but rather for the comfort, but the simplicity is good enough. In fact, he's so simple that he only has about 4 colors to his palette, which is kind of interesting to see used. His skin is pale to show much of of his life he's spending indoors from being sick, yet he has the fight in him to follow us all the way to elite 4. Mad respect.

As a character I'd give him an 8, but as a rival I just wish we had more fights. His team isn't exactly conventional, but it isn't too bad either and pretty unique for Delcatty, Altaria, and Gardevoir- traditionally feminine but also gentle looking Pokemon. It's not the strongest, but I do respect the uniqueness, although Magneton kinda comes from nowhere imo, and Roselia is just very weak. 7/10

Now we move onto the gen 6 remakes: ORAS

We arrive at the gen 6 art style, probably more in line with Pokemon's modern art and including Masters. Bruh this is 11 years old. Think about that. My arthritis is killing me- anyway you start seeing rounder eyes and more slender proportions, simpler shading and visible pen strokes for the outlining. Honestly when it's done right, it looks great, although you start noticing that pants are never full length anymore and that there's hardly any meat on people's bones.

ORAS May is a nice design- I don't quite like how they made her a noodle in comparison to her older designs, and the outfit has some hits and misses, but it's a cute enough design. There's a bit of a fashion disaster going on with the short shorts AND bike shorts, and the shoes look more like squishy socks, but overall it does read like something an energetic girl would wear outside in a more tropical location like Hoenn. I think my favorite thing is the head ribbon- I have a weakness for bunny ribbons, they're adorable and anyone that wears them earns about 30% more trust from me, and just overall makes me happy. I don't think it was May that needed that *specifically,* I will say, because she already had the bandana look down FLAT, and I think it would've been better saved for a future FeMC. The only other main things I don't like are the attempts of gesturing towards Emerald May with the addition of green randomly on her bag- it clashes with everything else, and I think I'd prefer if the yellows and reds of her shoes were swapped. I think another thing I don't quite like is how the design loses some of that blank-slate energy the older designs had- it is a problem shared with Brendan imo.

Still, I like the design. 8/10

Oy, stop massacring my boy. Okay, positives first: I like his tan, fits Hoenn. I also kinda like the colors. That's about it, though. I don't necessarily hate much about the design, I just think the other models did better. I think the biggest crime was ruining the illusion of white hair by making it way clearer that that thing is a hat. In the older games, you could tell that Brendan had some black hair going on underneath the hat (huh, kinda like your potential dad- Norman), but it was fairly short and blended in so well that you could sort of construe those as a two tone hair style, and it meshed pretty well together. Here, the hair is brown- why they keep making the protagonist's hair brown, I don't know- but it's also thicker at the sides, which just further shatters that neat little illusion.

The outfit is also just a tackier let down. Sure, it reads like an active teen (until the chibi model in game makes it read like a 9 year old), but it's also just... BORING, man. So bland. I remember seeing this outfit and thinking "Oh they purposely made it boring because, like X and Y, there'll be character customization." There was no character customization. Not even an option to go back to the older outfits. There was the dangly antenna from the Itemfinder- i always found that hilarious- but otherwise... yeah, you were stuck looking like this. Definitely not my cup of tea. 4/10

Now as far as both being rivals, it's essentially the same, but with some additional tidbits in the form of additional content- reminder I played as a guy. May would help a little bit with some stuff regarding the evil team, she had some more dialog, there was a weird implication the game wanted to ship the two of you together- that was kind of cute, but I was and am into *women* like Flannery, Shelly, Courtney, and Zinnia, thank you, so it felt kinda forced lol. Oh, and most importantly imo, there's an improved team to fight against with not only a fully evolved starter, but a fully evolved MEGA starter. A much needed improvement imo. As a rival, that's a decent improvement, if only a little. 7/10, there are better rivals with more compelling story lines.

And if we reviewed RSE Wally, we need to finish up with ORAS Wally. What a chad. he looks like a widdle scared noodle and somehow reads as even YOUNGER, but he's doing his damn best- and his best got better in ORAS thanks to some team upgrades from gen 4, such as his Gardevoir now being a Gallade, and also being a MEGA Gallade. His Rosellia also becomes a Roserade, which is already leaps and bounds an improvement, but then his Magneton can also be a Magnezone if you rebattle him later on. My boy ain't no bitch, he improves and keeps improving- and to make matters even better, he actually leaves Hoenn to explore the world- or at least Alola, since he appears in the Battle Tree with the likes of Red, Blue, Cynthia, and Grimsley. That? And he's got his own *theme* song now. With Electric Guitars. That's how you know you've made it, and his Victory Road battle field surrounded by spider lillies (ominous) is just super unique and badass.

It's definitely a tale of not judging a book by its cover. The design evolves from the super simple gen 3 design and becomes something even cuter and daintier, like a wrong wind could knock him over. The cardigan definitely gives him a sort of feeling you'd expect from someone harmless- I'm thinking like Mr Rogers or my buddy from college when he was going through his super chill weed phase- oh hey, fitting for Wally's hair. What's missing is the Key Stone he wears on a huge necklace- I think it's a little too big, but honestly maybe that's intentional, to show that such a huge power is coming from a small kiddo.

I gotta give it to him, a 9/10. I don't care if we only battle a couple times, I respect the little guy way too much. I wouldn't make him my MAIN rival- well actually, maybe in Hoenn- but I'd still give him the honor of being a rival nonetheless.

really needs the strong eyebrows, thick with an angular arch. like how chinese novels describe characters with sword-like eyebrows

red pupils with an O motif (because it matches well with kuon's X... it's a popular choice to draw them with. it's so cool)

tsurime eyes with no lashes, they need to be really dark because he has a strong personality. lashes (especially lower ones) make a character look sexy or mature

his silhouette is closer to an inverted triangle... the upper half is noticeably bulkier. it's probably to emphasize the chest? (lol) he reminds me of werewolves (puffed out chest and possibly ripping his clothes in the full moon)

FIRST OF ALL. canonically he's associated with bears (and is raising a pet? something. i haven't caught up.) so it's actually more lore accurate to draw him large, cuddly (because pelts are furry and soft), and broad. raising a pet means he has something to protect/protective of (protective mama bear, you get it) so i imagine he's actually the type to be quite warm once you know him. but since he's specifically a polar bear, he's probably quite vicious. out of all the characters i know, he's probably closer to bun black style-wise...

he's wearing a tracksuit which means he's active. additional words that come to mind are loud/energetic/extroverted. but, well, he's not necessarily warm (he's a polar bear) which leads me to think the correct answer is 'popular'. like how high school boys often play basketball in the court and get surrounded by lots of fans... the extroverted sort of charismatic guy that everybody wants to get close to and fears to displease, and yet it's obvious he doesn't consider anybody close... yep...

black is also a classy and expensive color for a tracksuit. it feels designer (especially with that gold hardware). it does take a lot of charisma to uproot the current leader of the pack

not really related but he also reminds me of emperor penguins with that tracksuit color scheme lol

RIGHT back to the topic. i've seen a bunch of art drawing him with clear eyes (lots of reflections) that look like ice and it's amazing

anyway his image is less "refreshing" but more "clean". even the hair is really neat. usually bangs on a character means that they're hiding something (you can't see their eyebrows so stylistically you can't find out what they're feeling), but his forehead his visible... given his character setting, it's not that he's easy to read but that you can't read him even if you tried (see: jeramie brasieri)

about his location: polar bears live in the poles, notoriously cold. i've seen rumors that he's like a teacher..? so maybe he's also a bit ascetic

a cool-themed, neatly groomed character whose associated animal is an aggressive and brutal power type... isn't the gap moe too good (haha)

anyway even with that in mind i really prefer the "polar" part in polar bear so i drew him more like a handsome cool guy. i ignored the bear part i just wanted to draw an ice prince. like a northern duke in a romance fantasy XD (so i didn't make his eyebrows thicker. i really wanted a cool beauty with pale eyes)

silhouette is really wide. that tracksuit is a RECTANGLE. neatly cut too. the pants are a straight cut they just drop straight down

don't forget the necklace with the rectangle teal gem when drawing mashiro. very important. i think if you have to reduce him to symbols it would be a black rectangle with white sides and that necklace

the royal blue in the underside of his cape...lol. they're really making him look so cool (colorwise). when it comes to colors, royalty is usually purple, but it's also a mature and sexy color. royal blue is an alternative, but blue is also the color of officials and scholars, isn't it? so not necessarily prince but definitely well-respected

i don't have a super concrete design in mind honestly (like, every time i doodle him while sitting around listening to organic chem lectures it comes out different HAHA), but there's a few elements i like to play around with!!! heres my most recent batch of doodles to hopefully attempt to illustrate (i dont draw much outside of doodling in class so theyre nothing great but sldkfjlds yk!!)

i like to play around with a few key elements:

cunty boots

funky fresh cutouts (hips, thighs, titty window, shoulders, back window, mix and match any combo, you get it!) often in a star shape for his space theme

longer hair with a side shave? and the cuuuurls ofc

many useless belts

space print kinda like donna troy on the inside of his jacket (he has to have a sickass jacket always even tho i didnt draw it there)

he Has to keep his right wrist and left ankle covered along with most of his right leg because he doesn't like showing off the scars from when he died

i love to keep the thigh pouch + his fingerless gloves

SOMETIMES (not always) i also like to consider him with a bandolier harness type situation as an homage to tim's red robin costume, in direct response to learning that tim switched to red and black as an homage to him

colorwise: red black and blue (so like his color scheme is kinda like post-owaw superman)

Sunny/Omori

Unicorn. I kind of just thought "whatever go dull" at first but then I thought it'd be interesting if part of the reason his dreams and nightmares are so detailed/fucked up as hell is because of some magic going fucked up, seemed cute in a way.

The cutie mark for Sunny is a sun (NAME) but it's also got a crescent moon shape over it, sort of ominous. One random line from the game that stuck with me was an NPC in the dreamworld or something saying "the moon shines brightly today", as the sky in it always fascinated me with how strange it seemed and how it's Always Nighttime and how that goes thematically with his real name being Sunny but not in this world.

Omori's is the demon because ofc his existence is defined by it. Sometimes it disappears.

Colorwise, Sunny's coat is supposed to be a brighter yellow but is very dull right now..

Mari

Unicorn also to match with her brother, and because one of the first things you notice about her in the dreamworld is her teleporting all the time. Seems magic to me!

The cutiemark is a picnic blanket. If I had more space I'd do the basket. It's very iconic Mari imagery, plus it signals both her ability to cook and her care for others!

She's a light purple in the real world, which is tied to everyone being purple in the dream world sort of like how in the game she wanted to dye her hair purple before she died and because of that everyone in the dream world has purple hair.

Kel

Pegasus because I felt like it fit his "free" personality. He's a blank flank in the dream world! He hadn't gotten his yet the last time Sunny saw him. During the four years Sunny was hiding, Kel got one, so he missed out on that. I haven't exactly thought of what it is, though.

He's blue with orange hair because I associate orange with Kel and the blue just seems to work to me.

Hero

Pegasus to match his brother. Without wings how could he catch up with him to make sure he stays out of trouble! hehe. Also makes him seem COOL

His coat is orange, like Kel's hair to show they're related, and his hair is darker blue! His cutiemark is a hero sandwich XD I THOUGHT IT WAS FUNNY he likes to cook, and it's what he's named after! hehe

Aubrey

Earth pony, because those are associated with having more strength.

She also may have been a blank flank, but I think it's funny to retranslate her dialogue when it comes to tagging where she says "I'm not sure Kel even has a talent" or something along those lines to being about his blank flank lol. The cutiemark she has in the future at least is of her baseball bat. How do horses hold bats? You tell me, they do it in the show. CARTOON WHO CARES

She's blue (or maybe closer to teal, I might do that) because it's a nice vibrant color and matches her headband in the future. It goes well with pink or black hair.

Basil

Earth pony, association with plants and farming. Definitely a good pick for him.

The cutiemark is clearer in the real world version. It's a flower, but the center of it is a camera lens. He's obviously the flower boy, and the camera is INCREDIBLY important to his story both in the dreamworld and real world.

Steve Saga Rainbow Factory AU Lore

Just a quick heads up. If you're a kid reading this, please don't. I know it says Steve Saga and that's a show for a younger audience, but this AU definitely isn't. It contains mature topics such as mental issues, violence, death and the likes. So please, when reading stuff on the internet: Be safe, not brave. You have been warned.

It all started with an incredibly traumatic event for Rainbow Steve. Essentially he had to watch his best friend Sabre die during some gruesome fight.

Yep. Sabre’s dead.

Rainbow snapped after that. This event is also where he got the scars on his face and the blind eye from. (The post with his design is Here.)

Rainbow became so sick and tired of being a useless, weak idiot, that he decided to switch to drastic measures in order to finally become strong. That day he swore to himself, to become the strongest Steve to have ever existed and quench all “evil” and “weakness” under his heel.

But, oh, the price he’d have to pay.

Rainbow founded and built the Rainbow Factory. Initially he started to experiment on power sources like crystals and power stone, but his efforts were quickly proven fruitless. So he switched to Steves relatively soon.

Experiments quickly became ugly and terrifying, he didn’t fully know what he was doing at first.

Eventually he discovered that a colorful substance could be extracted from Steves. Some sort of liquid energy.

Rainbow named this substance “Spectra”. He also discovered that Spectra could be injected back into Steves and had different effects on them, based on the colors used.

Did the Spectra and Steve match colorwise, then the Steve absorbed it no problem and became stronger.

This was a great success and Rainbow started injecting himself, quickly becoming addicted to the initial thrill of Spectra absorption.

Did the Spectra and Steve not match colorwise, then the effects would be negative to varying degrees. The further the two colors were apart from each other, the more different they were, the more horrific the effects and subsequent suffering would be.

But Rainbow didn’t stop there… Doing this all by himself was tiresome after all. He opted to build himself a team. He wanted to make more Steves like himself.

Experiments continued. All of his attempts to fuse different colors failed however. Except for one. It was more of an accident, but somehow Rainbow managed to unite all colors within one Steve, albeit in the wrong order.

Rainbow named his experiment Reverse Steve, who immediately became his favorite experiment. A bit of “improvements” and training later, Reverse was allowed to work alongside Rainbow.

Together they started a campaign to brainwash more people into joining their cause. Plague Steve stepped up, voicing his interest. So he also works for the factory now.

Some experiments got either broken or manipulated so badly by Rainbow, that he can let them work for his factory freely as well.

So, basically, Rainbow became worse than Nightmare. He became the very thing he’d sworn to destroy. But he doesn’t care anymore. He’s done with the world’s bullshit.

He turned from the prey to the hunter, now actively searching for Nightmare and his crew. Rainbow plans on turning Dark and Shadow into experiments as well, eager to find out how exactly their dark powers work and if they had Spectra in them as well.

For Nightmare the plan is a lot worse. Because Nightmare absorbed so many Steves during his lifetime, he is a giant battery for lots - and I mean LOTS - of Spectra of all kinds. Giving him the “Extraction Treatment” once, simply won’t be enough. In Rainbow’s ideal world, Nightmare will have to endure the Pegasus Device multiple times, so he can take that sweet, sweet Spectra all for himself.

You’re wondering what Lucas and Light are doing? As soon as Rainbow went downhill mentally, Lucas grabbed Light and went into hiding with him, hoping to protect the innocent Steve from any harm.

but in ace race the shoes have a built in tech that corresponds to any power up or speed boost their is. (during a power up the shouse sprout golder wings that help the player )

Thanks to the power of music, I have a new goofy ancient OC who will be showing up in a future comic once I get there. He's one of the ancients who lived in Lucky Eights' city, which was the equivalent to Vegas. A pleasure city of ancients who didn't care for ascension, instead wanting to indulge themselves in every pleasure life had to offer. (Man, I wonder what happened when they tried to ascend . . . )

His name is Shuffling Decks, Stacking Cards, and he was well-known in his city for . . . all the wrong reasons.

For one, he was notorious for being one of the few ancients to beat Lucky in a game of chance. His secret was cheating, but nobody found out. He was also well-known as one of the best dealers, since his card stacking ability was unmatched (Amazingly, his name is coincidence. Most ancients here got named after cards, dice, gambling, etc).

However, for all his fame, he was also known for his blatant denial of the cycle's existence. He claimed there was nothing at all, and once you die, that's just it. No rebirth. No cycle. Ascension was just death with extra steps, and it was stupid. Echohood was the end product for those who believed in the cycle, a punishment for such foolish thinking.

In his defense, he never died.

Hilariously, Cards was one of the select ancients who was actually able to ascend. His denial of the cycle and nihilistic attitude later in his life is what allowed him to let go of the primal desires. (For those wondering why he ascended, he was convinced to do it by his family. Besides, it's hard to play games when the only one you could play is the supercomputer.

Also, while I'm here and talking about ancients, I wanna describe why I draw them/how I design them.

My ancients have some sexual dimorphism going on, mainly in the hair department. But the base body, I draw them similar to tabaxi (D&D) and the zonai (LoZ). Yes, it would be appropriate to call my ancients 'shittens', especially as children because sheep kittens. For a bio male, their hair is much more like a mane. It's spiky, curls around their head and is usually only shoulder length (it can be grown other ways, but this is common). Bio females have much softer, wool-like hair that varies in length. Both genders can also style their hair as they wish, with a common choice being dreadlocks. And yes, trans ancients can get their hair changed, it's normal and just a pretty simple series of genetic changes.

Colorwise, they typically come in shades of blue and green, though it's not rare for them to be other colors. (Think of it like a 3:1 ratio, every 3 blue/green individuals you can find 1 that's another color). Patterns can vary wildly from stripes, spots, gradients, solid, even placement of patterns.

Some ancients have tails, some don't. The tails can look different, be different lengths, etc, but for the most part, the ones who have tails will have them end in a soft tip that matches their hair (Refer to Feather in my comic). Some have no tails, some have little stubs, and some have extra bits on their tail too. There's a lot of variation that can happen.
