(The Maze Runner) Spending a Rainy Day With Him
(Author’s Note:  In my fics/imagines/headcanons, Gladers are aged up, and also movie version...)
Thomas: Heavy rain usually puts most of the Glade jobs on hold.  Everyone will find a tree or covered structure to sit under and wait until the rain stops.  Wherever you are, Thomas will come find you.  He gently takes your hand in his, brown eyes meeting yours in a silent request.  You know that look very well.  With a smile, you nod.  The both of you go back to his hammock and climb in together, tangled up in a somewhat crowded mess of limbs, but it’s cozy.  He likes having you close like this.  Likes hearing your heartbeat, watching you breathe, and listening to you hum a gentle tune. It helps put him at ease.  He’ll lay there with your head on his chest as it rises and falls, his hand running up and down your back soothingly while you both listen to the rain on the roof. Every now and then, he’ll give you a squeeze or bestow a forehead kiss.  It’ll be a quiet time, at least for a little while.  After sorting through thoughts, he might start a conversation if you haven’t already.  It might be about your jobs.  It could be about the strange dreams either of you were having.  Or it could just remain quiet for a little longer.
Newt: When he feels the first drops fall on his cheek, he glances up with brows furrowed and lips parted to see if any more follow.  Upon realizing it’s the beginning of a downpour, he tells the others to pack up the tools and get out of the rain.  He’s already wondering if you found shelter already or not.  He’ll be keeping an eye out for you as he walks to the nearest structure. It’s not like he thinks you’re in any danger or anything.  He just wants to be sure you’re alright.  He’ll be glad when you do find him, and a little smirk of amusement will grace his lips when he sees the state you’re in.  Your clothes are a little wet from the dash in the rain, body shivering from the chill, and skin glistening.  Newt will put an arm around you and draw you to his warm side, remaining like that as you both stand at the edge of the covered structure and gaze out at the rainy Glade.  The time will be filled with quiet conversation with your faces inches apart, intent on each other’s pleasant company while the others goof around or chat behind you.  He’s not super crazy about kissing in front of others, but he’ll glance over his shoulder to make sure no one’s paying attention before leaning in for a tender kiss.
Minho: He’s just about to head into the Maze when the downpour starts.  Shuck.  Nothing like a rainy day to dampen a run.  If he gets caught in the rain while already in the Maze, it’s one thing.  But if it hits before he leaves, then he’ll just take the day off.  If he’s entirely honest, he doesn’t mind the break.  He heads back, removes his gear, and decides to pay you a surprise visit.  Runners are often up before most of the other Gladers, so it’s not surprising that you’re still in your hammock fast asleep.  Minho will greet you softly with a playful chirp in his tone, calling you by his own term of endearment.  When your eyes flutter open and you say his name in confusion, his heart just about leaps out of his chest.  He’ll tell you that it’s raining so he has the day off, and to move over.  You sleepily move over as much as you can so he has room to climb in with you, wrapping his arms around you.  He’s an early bird, so he probably won’t fall back to sleep right away.  He’ll enjoy watching you drift back into dreamland once more with the sound of rain tapping on the roof, pressing a kiss to your cheek.
Gally: He is by no means a slacker, but he can’t defy the weather.  Being that the conditions aren’t the best for building, he’ll tell the other builders on his team to head inside.  He huffs a sigh of annoyance as he badly wants to finish this project.  The rain starts to wash away the sweat that glistened over his skin as he takes his time picking up tools and whatnot so they don’t get ruined.  Since he’s already soaked, he’ll go out of his way to find you wherever you took shelter.  He’ll ask around if any of those shanks taking shelter under the structure have seen where you went.  Someone will point, and finally, he’ll spot you making a dash across the Glade.  He’ll stand there with hands on his hips watching you approach.  You’re out of breath, but there’s a glimmer in your eye as you greet him.  His heart pounds and lips turn up in amusement as he wraps an arm around you for a brief hug, not wanting to make a scene in front of the other Gladers.  A midday snack is being passed around by Frypan, so the two of you sit shoulder-to-shoulder on a bench.  You’re talking with each other and your closest friends around you.  It was almost like a bonfire with jokes being made and laughter.  Gally cracks up at a silly comeback you made to Winston, and suddenly, the rain doesn’t feel like such an inconvenience to him anymore.

It was late, the sun was slowly starting to set, and still the boys weren’t back. At first you thought they were just late, sometimes it happened, where they just lost track of time, most of the time when they found something or when they get lost.
But they have never been this late before. And to make matters worse, your leader Alby was in there also. And everyone knew that if the doors closed with Minho and Ably inside, you would all be screwed.
So when the rain had stopped pouring, you along with every other glader stood at the entrance of the maze, watching, waiting. You bounced on your heels anxiously, your eyes trying to peer around the corridors for a shadow, a glimpse of life. But nothing.
It was getting darker, the doors would close any minute now, and you felt sick to your stomach. You hadn't felt like this since they banished Ben, and if you had to lose Minho too, you wouldn't even want to live anymore.
And if you were being completely honest with yourself, you always had something more than friendship for Minho. You two weren't as close as you would've liked to be, you've talked to him before but that was just because of Ben or Newt. Other then that you two never spoke, he didn't even seem to notice you, always looking somewhere else when you'd speak to him and just act cold towards you.
Which you never understood. You had come up only four months after Minho did, and right at the beginning he acted as if you were a burden to the whole glade. You knew straight away it was because you were a girl but you never called him out about it because you were also a little scared of him. Minho was a big guy, bigger than any boy in the glade. And you knew of his sarcastic banter but he never showed that to you, all you got was the cold shoulder and the blank stares.
But you couldn't help but fall for him, he might have so many bad traits, such as being cold towards you, never paying you any mind or maybe because he acted as if you were some child who everyone always had to look after. But the good ones overtook the bad, he seemed caring to his friends, funny, determined, always thinking of finding a way to get everyone out. He put his life on the line for everyone, and that was something that took a lot of amount of courage and will power.
You admired him, from afar of course. You wanted to have the determination he did, you wanted to be able to wake up every morning with a set mind and heart.
"What if they don't make it?" You heard the new greenie say, his words snapping you back to reality, the reality that this was actually happening, that they might not make it. And that you will never be able to tell Minho how you really felt for him. But you knew he wouldn't even care if you did.
"They're gonna make it." Newt replied, his eyes boring into the maze, searching, hoping. Like you all were. You could feel tears welling up in your eyes as you heart began to race. It was happening, you were letting your panic slowly take over. And you didn't know if you'd be able to stop it now.
You could feel your hands begin to shake. They just can't die, they can't. You could feel a warm hand on your back, it was Newts. He knew of your feelings for his friend, and you knew he was trying to reassure you but it did little to no help.
You felt your heart drop to the pit of your stomach when you heard that all to familiar sound, followed with the ground rumbling and soon the wind blew back your hair. Finally you let your tears slip when the walls slowly started to grind together.
But then.
"Over there!" Chuck yelled, his finger pointing at the two figures who staggered past the corner, reaching into everyones line of sight. Everyone went dead silent as they all tired to figure out why Minho was moving so slow.
"Somethings wrong," Someone, you didn't know who said. Your eyes widened when you saw Alby slouched over Minho's shoulders, unconscious or maybe even dead. It was taking everything in you to try and keep yourself from screaming his name, yelling at him to hurry the hell up. But you just couldn't keep your mouth shut.
"Come on Minho you can make it!" You were the first to break the silence, yelling as loud as you could and soon everyone else erupted into yells and screams at Minho. You couldn't even hear your own voice over all the noise, but you didn't care.
Dread filled your entire body when he dropped Alby to the ground, but he didn't just leave him like Gally was yelling at him to do, instead he grabbed his legs and started dragging him towards you all.
You stopped your screams, and everything around you seemed to go silent, like background noise. Your breathing was just picking up in pace and your whole body shook with fear. Everyone around you knew he wasn't going to make it, not if he moved as slow as he was. And everyone also knew he would never leave a man behind.
Absent tears slipped from your eyes as you stared at the scene in front of your eyes. Minho looked so tired, but still he dragged Alby as fast as he could, and the closer the walls got to each other the more he seemed to panic. Sweat dripped off his arms, his face and his muscles bulged through his shirt as he dragged Alby.
The more tired he got the slower he became. You could see him slowing down, everyone could. You could feel yourself on the furge of a panic attack, everything was happening too fast but he was moving so slow.
Minho let out a panic yell as he tried to will himself to move faster, but he was just too far away. Your eyes shifted to the walls as a thought came to your head, a stupid thought, a really really stupid thought. One that you didn't let yourself rethink.
"Y/N NO!" Newt yelled right as your feet stepped between the two walls. You kept your eyes forward and your panic at bey as you ran with everything in you to the other side. The side no one wanted to be on, the side that would most likely lead to your death. But that was the last thing on your mind. The only thing you could think about was the boy who you loved, and not letting him die out here alone.
You barely made it to the other side alive, having to push yourself out as the walls closed with a crash behind you. You didn't even have time to think about what you did before Minho came charging at you. His face full of anger, disbelief and fear.
"Y/N what the hell did you do!" He yelled, his eyes wide as he grabbed your arm, pulling you harshly towards him. Your heart raced with adrenaline as you stared back into his eyes. "You just killed yourself! What the hell is wrong with you!"
"I couldn't just let you die!" You yelled back, ripping your arm away from his tight grasp. He seemed taken a back by your tone but he regained himself quickly.
"And what? That means you just kill yourself too! What do you think you'll do that will save me? Save us? You know nothing about the maze!" He was so close to you, his tone scared you more than you wanted to let him know, and his words just made it a whole lot worse. You darted your gaze to the ground as they filled with tears.
"Crying isn't going to help us." He might have wanted it to come out harsher but his tone softened. He was right, you didn't know two things about the maze, or how to be a good runner, but that didn't matter, you weren't about to let him die, even if that meant to kill yourself too.
You turned your eyes up into his. "You're right." You wiped your face with the back of your hand as you took a step away from him, which caught Minho's attention immediately, his eyes following your smaller form. "I don't know a thing about the maze, and I might have just walked into my own death, but I wasn't going to let you die alone,"
He didn't say anything, his eyes just staring into yours. And this was the first time he didn't seem cold towards you, the first time his eyes weren't empty as he looked into yours. It made your stomach fill with butterflies, which was so stupid in the situation you were in.
"You don't deserve to die like this Y/N," His words caught you off guard, and for some odd reason made tears well up in your eyes again. You sucked in a deep breath as you turned away, your gaze darting towards Alby, who was limp on the ground.
"We should hide him somewhere," You said, already moving to kneel beside Alby. Your hand brushed over his face, and your heart dropped a little when you saw the gash on his head. But you didn't mention it, knowing why he had done it in the first place.
Minho didn't say a word as he took him by the arm, slinging on over his shoulder. Not knowing what else to do you followed suit, your knees almost bucking with his weight. But you just willed yourself to move even if he was heavy.
After maybe 5 minutes of walking around Minho dropped his side causing you to almost fall over as all of Alby's weight fell on you. Having no other choice you dropped him as gently as you could by the nearby wall.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" You breathed out in annoyance, getting up on your feet as you tired to regain your raged breathing. Minho turned towards you, his eyes hardening but you cut in before he got the chance to speck. "We can't just leave him here. He'll die. We have to put him somewhere. Or hide him-"
"Where?" He interrupted, his voice full of frustration and panic. You had never seen Minho panic before and while you understood you were also getting annoyed with him. He's supposed to be the Keeper of the runners and here he is not using his head and instead using his panic.
"I don't know." Your own voice matching his. Your eyes shifted around, trying to find somewhere out of sight. But he should be the one to know the maze better than anyone, or so you've been told. "You're supposed to know everything about the maze. Isn't there one place you can think of to hide him-" He let out a frustrated groan before he grabbed your waist, pinning you to the wall.
"You don't fucking get it! Take a look around, we're trapped and we aren't getting out of this alive!" Your breathing was fast from the shock and the truth to his words. His face was close to yours, his hands were warm which made shivers run up your spine.
"With an attitude like that, yeah no klunk we're dead!" You pushed him away from you with slightly shaking hands. "Be the shucking keeper Minho!" You yelled. "And lead me."
"You are a shucking builder Y/N! How the hell am I-" A horrifying cry rang through your ears, shutting both you and Minho's mouths as your eyes shifted behind Minho. You couldn't see anything but you knew what you heard and you did not want to meat the creature that made that terrible sound.
"Okay okay, it doesn't matter Minho. We just need to hide him," You were panicking, you could feel the rise in your stomach and your throat. But you had to keep it down, this was the worst place to have a full panic attack, and the wrong person to have it in front. "What about underneath?"
Minho looked to what you were pointing at, which was under the ivy at the bottom of the wall. "Okay okay but hurry, the walls are already changing."
For the next ten minutes you and Minho got Alby safely under the ivy, you didn't know if it would work but you prayed to whoever was out there that it would. You didn't even notice when Minho had stopped helping you, all your mind was focused on was making sure that Alby was safe to leave.
"We gotta go!"
"What?"
"We gotta go!" You felt Minho grab your arms, pulling you up onto your feet. Your eyes darted behind you as Minho dragged you forward, and thats when you saw it.
Your breath caught in your throat as you laid eyes on it for the first time. The thing everyone in the glade feared, the thing no one has ever seen and lived to tell the tale. It was unlike anything you'd ever seen—half-machine, half-monster, with twisted limbs. It's movements jerky and unnatural. Panic rushed into your body like lighting and thats when everything started to feel real. That you might actually not make it out alive.
You could feel your body turn stiff, and your blood turn cold. You thought for a second you were going to throw up, cry or scream. Maybe all of them and Minho sensed it immediately.
"Y/N Y/N no no no." Minho tried pulling you with him but your feet refused to move as you watched the griever turn into another corridor. "Don't do this now. We have to go!"
"I can't do this Minho!" You felt tears burn in your eyes, your breathing was ragged and heavy, and you were starting to see spots. "I can't-"
"Yes you can!"
"No I-"
"Listen to me!" He turned you around to face him, his hands cupping your face harshly, causing your eyes to connect with his. "Look I don't know if you're brave or just brain dead for running in here, but you did okay? So don't panic now, in-fact you aren't allowed to panic now. You have to learn to control it," Minho said, his voice low and dangerous. "Because if you can't, you'll get us both killed. So shove it down you got that. Shove. It. Down."
You nodded into his hands, your mouth trembling and the tears slipping down your face. You were about to wipe them away but Minho did it for you. You would have questioned it but you were far too scared to even think about anything other than death.
"Y/N, we need to run!" Minho shouted, his voice tinged with panic as his eyes widen, looking behind you. Your heart dropped to the ground as you heard it's dreadful scream and mechanical run but this time you didn't wait for Minho to drag you along. Instead you broke into a sprint, hot on Minho's heels.
The Griever's mechanical legs clattered against the ground as it raced after you two. You could hear its heavy breaths echoing behind you, driving you forward with a surge of adrenaline fueled fear.
"We can't outrun it," You panted, your voice strained with exertion as you darted around a corner, narrowly avoiding the Griever's grasp.
Your heart sank as you realized you were trapped, with nowhere to run and nowhere to hide. But giving up was not also not an option—not when your life, and were at risk. And not when Minho still didn't know your true feelings.
With a desperate burst of energy, you pushed forward, dodging the Griever's relentless attacks with quick reflexes and determination. Every step felt like a battle against death itself, but you refused to surrender.
Your legs burned, your lungs screamed for air, and yet the Griever remained hot on your heels. As exhaustion threatened to consume you, you felt your pace slowing, your steps faltering with each passing moment.
You swallowed hard, your throat dry. The relentless pace was wearing you down, both physically and mentally. The maze seemed to stretch on endlessly, its walls looming ominously overhead.
"We can't stop!" Minho's voice pierced through the darkness, sharp with frustration.
But despite his harsh words, you struggled to keep up, your muscles aching with every step. As you rounded yet another corner, you stumbled, nearly falling to the ground.
"I-I can't," you gasped, your voice barely above a whisper as you fought to catch your breath.
Minho's patience snapped, his frustration boiling over as he turned to face you, his expression a mix of anger and desperation.
"Dammit, Y/N!" he barked, his voice laced with frustration. "Get it together! Do you think the Grievers care if you're tired?" Minho snapped, his tone harsh. "Do you think they'll show you mercy because you can't keep up? No. They'll tear you apart without a second thought. We need to keep moving, or we're dead."
His words struck you like a blow, the harsh reality of your situation sinking in with chilling clarity. Despite the fear and exhaustion, you forced yourself to push through.
"Come on we can lose it down here! The walls are changing, closing! Keep moving, Y/N!"
Heart pounding, you glanced back to see the Griever's glowing eyes fixated on you, its mechanical limbs clattering against the stone floor as it got closer. With a surge of adrenaline, you broke into a sprint. As you ran, Minho's voice became a distant roar.
But then, a plan formed in your mind—a reckless, desperate plan. With a quick glance back, you veered off course, leading the Griever away from Minho's path.
"Come on, you ugly piece of scrap!" you taunted as you drew the Griever's attention to yourself.
Behind you, Minho's voice rose in panic, his yells desperate for you to turn back. But you ignored him.
As you ran, the walls of the maze began to shift and close in around you, sealing off your escape. With the Griever hot on your heels, you pushed yourself, every muscle burning.
And then, with a surge of determination, you made a leap, narrowly avoiding the closing walls as you launched yourself into the narrow gap.
With a sickening crunch, the Griever collided with the closing walls, its mechanical form crushed between the shifting stone. A triumphant roar echoed through the maze as you emerged on the other side, breathless and exhilarated, the sound of the Griever ringing in your ears.
As you caught your breath, Minho's voice reached you, sharp with a mix of anger and disbelief. "What the hell were you thinking, Y/N?" he barked, his tone harsh. "You could have gotten yourself killed!"
Your chest heaved, but you squared your shoulders, refusing to back down. "I did what I had to do," you retorted, your voice tinged with defiance. "We needed to stop that Griever, and I wasn't about to wait around for it to catch up to us. You're not the only one capable of making tough decisions, Minho."
Minho's eyes flashed with fury at your retort, his jaw clenched with suppressed rage. "You don't get it, do you?" he growled, his voice dripping with frustration.
"What don't I get?" you challenged, your own anger flaring as you met his gaze head-on. "Why do you suddenly act like you care huh? Back in the glade you've always acted as if you don't want me around."
Before you could even take a breath Minho was in front of you, with a harsh tug, he pulled you close, his eyes blazing with intensity as he stared into yours.
"Don't you dare say that," he snapped, his voice low and dangerous. "You don't think I care?"
Before you could form a response, Minho closed the distance between you, his lips crashing against yours in a bruising kiss. The anger and frustration melted away in an instant.
Caught off guard by his sudden change in demeanor, you found yourself melting into his embrace, your hands tangling in his hair as you deepened the kiss. In that moment, nothing else mattered—there was only Minho and the electrifying connection between you.
As you lost yourself in the heat of the moment, you couldn't help but wonder if maybe, just maybe, there was more to Minho's harsh exterior than met the eye. And as you and Minho surrendered to the intoxicating pull of desire, you knew that despite the challenges that lay ahead, you would face them together.

arrggggsh i know you did thomas smut the other day but what about his actual first time in an established relationship? maybe like he has been waiting for the perfect time because he dosent want to mess anything up because well.. we all know he's probably so inexperienced 😂
thomas fucked you hard, his first time was with you.
you were exhausted. you felt his hands under your ass, feeling the softness of your flesh as he slid himself deeper inside of you. you felt him stiffen inside of you, and then slowly withdraw his cock; sliding it down your legs, back into your cunt. you felt tears spring back to fill your eyes and your cheeks. he stood behind you, holding your shoulders. when he had pulled you close enough, he let his cock rest against your folds, embracing them gently. you felt him get harder as he played with your ass—you felt him rub his cock up and down your pussy a few times before using his cockhead to penetrate for a second time.
as he sank in, pressing harder against you, you felt your cunt squeeze him, the feeling of both of you making a wet sliding noise, then as he drove in to your depths again, it began.
“am i doing this right?” he whispered softly, his hands shaking as he held your hip with one hand, the other brushing your hair down your back gently. you could feel him shaking despite his hard cock burying itself inside you. he couldn't see it, but you smiled. “of course you are, tommy,” your words gave him the benefit of the doubt, offering him comfort as he began to fuck his cock into you once more. he had no experienced, didn't know much. the only thing he knew was that he wanted his first time to be with his girlfriend, and it was.

welcome to the glade
Tumblr media
minho x shy, fem!reader
summary: you struggle with adapting to the glade especially with being the only girl but a shank with great hair helps you out
-
Abruptly, your eyes flickered opened as you took in your surroundings. You were in a rusty metal elevator with some sort of animal in you assumed from the noises you could hear somewhere beside you. Your breathing picked up as you had no clue where you were or why you were here. Tears pricked your eyes. You closed your eyes as you tried to wash them away. You took some deep breaths as silent tears trickled down your cheeks.
Bang. The elevator or whatever it was had hit something.
The roof of the box opened and you hastily shut your eyes as sunlight reached them. Whilst your eyes slowly adjusted to the light, you noticed about fifty adolescent boys staring down at you. You backed up into a corner, wanting to hide from the unwanted attention. Thud. You slowly glanced up and saw an older boy watching you curiously.
He had sticky-up black hair that was perfectly styled. You didn’t know how it looked like that… surely they wouldn’t have hair products here. You gazed at his toned muscles and finally his well-structured face. He was so pretty. You fought to hide the blush creeping up your face.
He dropped down to his knees gracefully. “Hey.”, he whispered cautiously to you. You simply stared at him. “You need to get out of here. I promise it’s way nicer out there than in here. Well… except for the annoying teenage boys.”, he stated playfully. He held out his hand for you to take. You grabbed his hand as he hoisted you up and helped you out of the metal box.
Once you were out, you quickly looked around at the field and you couldn’t help but stare at the boundless walls that seemed to cover the whole community. You then realised all the boys were looking you up and down like a hungry predator and you kept your eyes to the ground. The boy in front of you glared at the others who were looking at you.
You’d come to a halt. An older looking guy walked up to you with a hint of confusion set in his eyes. “A girl?”, he asked to the boy beside you. “Yeah, there wasn’t a note or anything.”, he responded. “Hmm, okay.”, he replied. “I’m Alby and I’m the leader around here and that’s Minho.”, he paused as he pointed next to you. “He’s the keeper of the runners.”, he added. You didn’t know what a ‘runner’ was but you just nodded your head along anyway.
“Minho, you can go now, I’ll show her around.”, he dismissed Minho. The young man named Alby guided you around the ‘Glade’ was what he had said it was called. You found out that for now you’d be sleeping in your own room away from all the boys. You were happy about that at least. He’d also mentioned that everyone here had a job today and tomorrow you’d be starting your trials to see which one you’d be the best at.
That was yesterday. You were currently gardening with a sweet boy named ‘Newt’. You had been worried about starting the job but it turned out that your mind was making it seem worse than it was.
Before long, Minho walked towards you both and called you over for lunch. You sat next to Minho as he was probably the person you had talked to the most except for Alby. “How was being a track-hoe?”, he asked. “It was okay.”, you simply stated. He gazed at you. “Do you know what job you’re trialing tomorrow?”, he questioned softly. “Mhm, I’m going to cook tomorrow.”, you answered. “Cool.”, he said in response.
“What job do you have? A runner, was it? What’s that?”, you asked as you suddenly remembered. “I don’t think I’m meant to tell you this yet but what they don’t know can’t hurt.”, he paused. “Have you noticed the massive walls? Well, of course you have, who hasn’t?”, he chuckled lowly. You nodded. “There’s a maze out there and it’s my job to run into it every day and try to find a way out of here.”, he stated with a proud look on his face.
“There’s a maze?”, you repeated in shock. “Mhm. My job is pretty dangerous but I’m quite strong and fast so I’m fine.”, he said cockily. Your cheeks blazed. “You’re very quiet.”, he observed. This caused your cheeks to set on fire. “I know.”, you muttered. “I like it though. I need someone to talk to and just have them listen.”, he confessed honestly.

song 72! you belong with me (taylor swift) + newt requested by @misty-inferno (2023 spotify wrapped event)
dreaming ‘bout the day when you wake up and find that what you’re looking for has been here the whole time
Tumblr media
If anyone were to ask where either you or Newt were, the other gladers would say to look for the other. They’d probably end up finding the two of you together.
At least, that was the case before Thomas came into the picture.
Today found you sitting on a bench near the kitchen, where Frypan had kicked you out. Apparently your sour mood was spoiling the food. You glowered when you looked in the distance and saw Newt walking the newbie around.
“Whoa, why are you trying to commit a felony?”
Your eyes flitted up to where Minho was hovering over you. Still scowling, you said, “What felony?”
“Attempted murder. Using your face.”
“Man, fuck you!” you exclaimed, smacking him on the arm.
“Hey! I didn’t mean it like that! I meant like, the whole ‘if looks could kill’ thing,” he defended himself, rubbing his arm.
“Well either way, I’m not trying to murder anyone, you slinthead.”
Minho shrugged. “Tell that to Thomas. He’s been asking since last night why you keep glaring at him.”
“I’m not glaring at him,” you scoffed, “I’m observing. Analysing.”
“Right, right,” he muttered, rolling his eyes. “You sure you’re not just pissy he’s hanging out with Newt?”
“Well,” you huffed, “he already got the tour from Chuck, what more does he need to know?”
Minho finally joined you on the bench, and nudged you with his elbow. You massaged the sore spot on your ribs.
“You should tell him how you feel, you know.”
“I’ve tried, Minho.”
He looked very unimpressed. “How? Telepathic signals?”
“I- well, you know,” you spluttered, “I wrote a note that said ‘I love you’ and left it in his hammock? But then it fell out and he didn’t see it.”
“My condolences,” Minho drawled.
You stuck your tongue out at him and he rolled his eyes. Minho was right, to some extent, you thought. But you didn’t want to confess to him, not with everything he’d been through, and with this horrible situation you’d been thrust in.
Newt was the best, most deserving person you’d ever met, and you knew you couldn’t force him into anything. Also, you were a bit of a coward. But that wasn’t the important part. You wanted him to realise by himself that you loved him and decide what he wanted.
And if what he wanted was Thomas, so be it.
“It’s not that simple,” you said to Minho. “Nothing is ever simple in The Glade. If I have to keep pining after him until he realises I love him or decides he loves me, then I will.”
Minho’s lips pursed and his gaze softened. “Okay, fine.”
Then he looked forwards and his eyes zeroed in on something. “Heads up, though, they’re coming this way.”
You looked up instantly and found Newt and Thomas heading your way. Newt raised his hand in a wave and Thomas gave what was probably supposed to be a smile but ended up being more like a grimace. Wow, he really did think you hated him.
“Hey Y/N, Minho,” Newt said, but his gaze was fixed on you. “Could I talk to Y/N for a second?”
“Fine,” scoffed Minho, “get rid of me. Come on, greenie, let’s go raid the kitchen.”
He threw an arm around Thomas and guided him away, and Newt took his spot on the bench while your heartbeat and body temperature rose alarmingly.
“Hi,” you managed to squeak out, “what’s up?”
“Well,” he cleared his throat, “I found this on top of your things when I tried to look for you this morning.”
He started to rummage around in his pants pocket. “And then Thomas told me he saw the same piece of paper lying on the ground under my hammock last night.”
Dread filled every crevice of your body as Newt pulled out a folded piece of paper and unfolded it to reveal the words ‘I love you.’
“That’s… quite a coincidence,” you muttered.
Newt’s face twisted in a smile. “Yeah, I thought so too.”
Your face was unimaginably red when he started digging around in his other pocket and then turned to look at you.
“But what’s an even bigger coincidence, is this.”
He handed you a second piece of paper, folded only in half. Your heart lurched as you peeled it open. ‘I love you,’ it said, in a perfect imitation of Newt’s handwriting.
“What?”
He laughed at your dumbstruck expression and took the paper from your hands, then took your hands in his, forcing you to look at him. “I was going to give it to you tonight.”
“You love me?” you asked, still dumbstruck.
“I do, yeah.”
Your stomach did flips as you grinned at him. “Can I kiss you?”
Newt turned a little pink, and you flushed with pride at being able to embarrass him, then he nodded.
Nobody was surprised when you both showed up hand in hand to dinner that night, nor when you kissed afterwards. And nobody, not even Thomas, was surprised when Newt climbed his way into your hammock instead of his.
Because that was where he belonged. With you.

Imagine newt survived. Imagined he woke up after it all, standing in the rubble. Wandering around dilapidated buildings and the ruins of the last city only to realize he is seemingly the last one left. Not knowing that the rest of the saved children had already arrived at the safe heaven. Only seeing the hoard of undead soaring around him in waves.

Concept Sharing Hammocks
Smut Cuddles / grinding / kissing / fondling / overexcitment/
I waited eagerly and rather impatiently. I sat on top of the watchtower, I was always last to sleep and the boys knew I had a habit of sitting up on the watchtower till everyone else was asleep. Watching as the homestead slowly darkened as each lamp was extinguished. I had my own little private space but it was on the edge of the deadheads, yes it was away from eyes but it was dirty, damp, and muddy. My hammock is strong between two trees with a wooden box for all my things. It was nice to have a little privacy being the only girl but I felt lonely and somewhat abandoned out there most nights. But I had myself a solution.
Once I saw the last light go out plunging the glade into utter darkness I smiled.
I waited a few minutes more listening to the sounds of the boys snoring mixed with that of the maze changing beyond the walls.
Once I was sure all the boys were asleep I quietly climbed down the tower. I didn't bother to light my lantern as I knew this path was like the back of my hand.
I headed through the glade's grass past the kitchen, past the bathrooms, past the benches and post. Until I reached the homestead.
The tall messy structure the boys had created to house them all, hammocks hung from every place they could be hung.
I made sure to slip off my shoes walking in the grass and dirt on my tiptoes to avoid making noise I moved through the maze of hammocks all full of sleeping glades until I reached what I had been so eager for.
The center of the homestead were the keepers all slept being the earliest boys here they of course took up the center with the most space between them, they each had fabric covers hung from trees to hide their hammocks so they each has their own space and privacy. I snuck around making sure not to be seen or heard as I made my way to my most favorite place.
I ducted under a cover to make sure I wouldn't be spotted and I smiled widely at the hammock before me.
The dirty old once red fabric hammock hung from two trees with the curtains hung around so it was impossible to see other hammocks from here, in the hammock laid such a cute sweet sight.
The thing second in command laid on his back his head on a small pillow half the size of the other boys under his neck to keep his head up, his fluffy blonde hair out of place a little where he had been messing with it all day, his eyes closed gently his mouth hung open slightly, his hoodie on the floor by his shoes, leaving only his orange vest to protect his body, his chest slowly rising and falling with each gentle rested breath, his arm over his stomach lazily the other hung off the hammock towards the the floor, his legs stretched as much as they could in the little hammock another pillow the same size as the other under his bad ankle giving it a gentle support.
I smiled, setting my shoes down too and going over fixing some hair from his face.
I moved closer and pressed a little kiss to his dirty forehead he stirred a little but not enough to really move.
So I slipped off my hoodie setting it down with my shoes before I gently climbed into his hammock making sure not to tip it or to push on him too hard until I was laid ontop of him one leg down between his own the other up around his hip, my head on his chest my arms snuggly around him immediately I felt so safe, so secure and happy.
I did this alot, ever since we shared a small drunken nap cuddle in the grass a few bonfires ago, ever since I had been sneaking in for cuddles, he didn't know I always came after he was asleep and of be gone long before he woke up, plus he works so hard on the gardens that he sleeps like the dead. So I'm always able to climb in and cuddle.
I don't think he minds as he never seems bothered by me.
And as usual as I laid nuzzled into his chest his arms slowly shifted coming and wrapping around me holding me to his body.
I felt so happy, so secure and safe, so relaxed and peaceful I could have stayed cuddled here forever.
I got a lovely night sleep as I always did but woke to the sun starting to make its way above the walls so I sat up with a yawn having to carefully peel his arms from around me as I sat up completely, "ummmm good morning newt," I smiled giving his cheek a little kiss before I tried to climb out however I leaded my weight a little too far and the whole hammock tipped over throwing me and newt onto the ground "oww" I complained
"Ahhh- what the" he complained sitting up a little rubbing his head from the fall "ahhh! Y/n!" He yelped grabbing his hoodie and for some reason covering himself… not sure why?
"Hi" I smiled
"What the bloody hell are you doing here?"
"Uuuuuuuhhh"
"And why am I on the ground?"
".... earthquake?" I suggest
"Y/n?" He warns
".... I may have snuck into your hammock last night"
His eyes went wide "you what?!" He asks but then realized his volume this early "you did what?"
"I snuck into your hammock while you were sleeping"
"....why?"
"For cuddles."
"For a cuddle?"
"Ummm humm" I nodded "ever since we fell asleep together by the gardens I've been sneaking in. I feel really safe and cosy when I sleep with you"
"Awww, that's really sweet y/n." He smiled  "you could have just asked. You're more than welcome to come cuddle with me if you want to"
"I am?"
"Of course you are. I was wondering who I've been cuddling the last few weeks. I thought I was imagining it" he says "that doesn't answer why were both now on the floor?"
"The hammock tipped"
"Ahhh. That makes sense" he nods "did you wanna maybe keep cuddling? At Least till we have to go to work?"
"I'd like that" I smiled
He happily got up and got settled back in the hammock then opened his arms for me so I happily climbed back in how I was nuzzling into his chest "I see why you like cuddling in here. It's nice" he Cooes stroking my hair
"It's very nice, my favorite place in the world" I smiled
"It might just be mine too" he Cooes
"Wake me when it's time for work"
"I will. Sleep tight y/n" he says giving my head a kiss
"Goodnight newt"
"Night"
I groaned a little as my body knew it was time for work, I stirred a little already mad as I didn't to get up, and my stirring seemed to wake him too
"Umm?"
"It's time for work"
"It is? Ummm five more minutes love" he complained hugging he tighter
"No come on or we'll cuddle all day"
"I don't have any objections"
"Newt come on Alby will come kick your butt of you don't get up"
"Fine" he sighed "for me to get up I need you to get up love. Your on top of me."
"I'm working on it"
"You don't seem to be working on it very hard?"
"And your jumping out of bed?"
"That's because in cuddled up with you, why would I wanna rush away from something so cosy" he says kissing my head
"See that's why I'm not moving"
"Come on, Its bacon for breakfast today" he reminds
"So you want bacon more then cuddles?" I pouted
"Ummm don't make me choose love" he sighed "hey? If I sit up that'll wake us both up."
"It would"
"I'll do it. For a kiss?"
"Really?"
"Just a little kiss?"
"Alright" I smiled moving a little so I could see him "hi"
"Hi"
I smiled and leant in pressing a soft kiss to his lips he happily kissed back tightened his arms around me his hands settled in the small of my back and my waist gently stroking my skin as we softly kissed the soft sound of our lips clacking slightly as they moved Against one another the only sound in the whole glade but the wind in the trees and the kitchens starting up breakfast till I slowly pulled back he did try and lean back in clearly desperate for our kisses to continue
"Don't make me go"
"What? Youre the one who wants your breakfast?"
"I know, don't make me leave you" he says stroking my cheek and pulling me back to kiss him till I pulled back
"Come on newt. Or no cuddle tonight" I warn sitting up to have a stretch
"Fine. I wait up for you this time"
"You better" I smiled leaning down to give him a kiss "newt?"
"Yes love?"
"Is that your belt pressing into me?" I asked given as I sat up in his hims indefinite felt something pressing against me
He blushed a little but bit his lip slightly before he chuckled "that's not my belt love"
"Isn't it?"
"No it is not" he smirked tugging me back to kiss him our kiss more giggly and playfully
"Newt! Your late!" We heard from behind the curtain but we barely had time to move as Alby came around into newts little hammock space clearly mad he was late for work and all I had managed to do was sit up.
So as far as Alby was concerned he just walked into see newt on his hammock, me sat up on his lap, his arms around my waist both of us clearly been kissing with our hoodies and shoes on the floor.
He looked us over and we both turned red the only thing either of us could manage was newt very quickly sitting up and blurting out
"It's not what it looks like" he yelped
Unfortunately given I was still sat on newts hips, as he sat up he was squarely faced with my boobs in my small vest shirt as the shirt had fallen considerably in our resting and now left little to the imagination especially given my one bra was in the wash, something he noticed as soon as he had uttered those words and now was unable to focus on anything else being meer inches from me and clearly excited by that as the stiffness below me hardened even more. It was obvious he was desperate to kiss me and get his hands or well get anything of his on my shirt.
"Newt gardens now. Y/n laundry. I'll deal with you both later" he demanded "and if your gonna do that do it in y/n's hammock"
"Yes Alby" he both nodded and he quickly left us alone
"Come on or we really will get on trouble" I giggled trying to climb down
"No no no. Come on love please. Just five more minutes" he pleads grasping me quickly and firmly trying to tug me back closer to him almost pulling me against his chest kissing my jaw and down my neck even across my chest
at first I merely giggled "newt-"
"Just five more minutes love I promise." He groans in his over excitement even starting to grind his hips against my own until one of his hands grabbed my ass and I immediately stopped him pushing him away grabbing his wrists to force him away from me
"Newt!"
He breaths "Your right. Your right. I'm sorry." He says calmly "I was thinking with the wrong head for a moment I apologize" he says moving his own hands back
"Thank you" I nodded "be careful with that"
"I'll try. Sorry"
"It's fine. Maybe we can play around with other heads suggestions after lights out" I smiled tapping his nose and giving his lips a kiss
"Umm don't encourage me love" he smirked "I'm gonna have to go to the shower aren't I?" He sighed
"I think so" I nodded "sorry newt" I told him climbing out and getting my hoodie on
"It's fine love. It's where you normally send me anyway" he winked getting his own hoodie on as he climbed out too "so, how about I come see you tonight?"
"You'll see me later? At break time and lunch atleast" I laughed getting my shoes on
"I know I'll see you around the glade but. How about I meet you at your hammock tonight after lights out?" He asks getting his shoes on
"I'll be waiting"
"You better be" he smirked giving me a gentle kiss "see you later love"
"See you later newt" I smiled before we each headed off to work.

Author's Note: Thank you for the request! I hope you like it!
Word Count: 2.2k
I have a mission.
It's the first thing you remember when you wake up in this cramped box, and for a while, it's the only thing you can think.
I have a mission.
The details come to you in fragments. You know you'll have to run. You're ready for that, pacing around the rising room to keep your muscles warm.
I have a mission.
There's going to be danger, that you're sure of. The scars on your body that you have no memory of getting make you wonder if this isn't the first time you've had a mission like this. There's a long one that snakes along your calf, like someone wrapped a curl of barbed wire around your leg. Your hands are littered with tiny, long-healed cuts. When you flex your fingers, you feel strong. Hardened.
I have a mission.
The room shudders to a stop. The far half of the ceiling opens up and daylight pours in. You sink further into the shadows. The light stings your eyes, and the gentle hum of the ascent has been replaced by clamoring voices and the sound of constant movement. The box shakes with the thud of someone landing inside.
I have a mission.
You dart across the room, hearing the voices change to shock and confusion, and leap for the wall. Your fingers just barely grip the top. Your feet scrabble for purchase on the slick surface, but you're determined, you're quick, you're strong, and this is your mission so you must succeed.
You haul yourself out of the box. A mob of teenage boys stands in front of you, all around you, some laughing, some glaring, many simply confused. You run at them and they scramble away. For a strange, detached moment, you feel like a queen walking to her throne, the lords parting before her in deference, cheering.
There is no cheering as you sprint across the grass.
"He's making a run for it!" someone says, cackling.
"I think that was a girl," comes a different voice.
You run faster. Your eyes have adjusted to the brightness and you can see the blue sky, the grassy ground, and the hulking stone walls boxing you in.
Escape one box and run right into another, you think, and then, I have a mission.
There are a few breaks in the walls, massive doorways leading into a mystery. You're heading for the closest one. Behind you, there are loud footfalls and cries for you to "Stop! Don't go in there!" It sounds like someone tells you to "Stop being such a shank," but his words are choppy, confusing, and all you want is to complete your mission.
The entrance is so close, just a few more seconds of all-out sprinting, when you feel the heavy presence of someone behind you. Someone who wants to grab you. Who wants to stop you.
Without planning to, you come to a dead stop and drop into a crouch. The person behind you was too close, they can't stop soon enough, their shin collides with your back as they trip over you and slam to the ground in front of you.
You're back running before you can take a close look at him. Every muscle in your body is moving with instructions you haven't given, implementing lessons you don't remember teaching. Your surroundings are entirely new, entirely foreign—and yet, there's an uncanniness to everything you see. The colors and the season and the people are wrong. But the bones of this place, those are familiar. Especially, you realize as you enter the gap between the walls, the maze.
For the first time, your steps falter. The walls are gray stone and decked in ivy. That's wrong. They should be…they should be…
You want to shiver, the memory flees, all you know is the mission.
You sprint and take a left at the four-way intersection. All of the voices have faded. No one seems to be coming after you as you make your way down corridors, following a path that's branded like fire in your mind.
Straight. Right. Right. Left. Straight. Left. Right. Right. Straight. Straight. Straight. Left.
Here.
Here is a dead end. The walls are so thick with ivy you can barely see the stones. The air is still as a graveyard. You stand, panting, trying to remember what comes next.
From atop the wall, there's a clicking noise. You look up.
The creature is hideous, all mechanical limbs and throbbing, human-like skin. You half-expect giant wings to unfurl from its back (why? The memory slips away like a shadow) but instead it starts climbing down the ivy, whirling and clicking. Razor-sharp barbs glint along its body. Its mouth, a maw of metal, gnashes hungrily.
You remember what you have to do.
The boys find you faster than you thought they would. You hear them round the corner as the monster shrieks its death knell. Its mechanical body curls in like the husk of a bug. Blood drips down your arm, getting on the wires that droop from the metal disk you're holding. It's still warm from the creature's chest cavity, where it had been nestled like a heart. The disk is pockmarked with flashing dots of light. They blink at you a few times, the pause between each growing longer, and then they wink out. The creature at your feet, speared by its own jagged limb, falls silent.
"What the fuck."
The boy isn't asking, you realize as you turn around, the metal disk slipping from between your blood-slicked fingers. He has dark hair and dark eyes and an athlete's build, all lean muscle and confidence. His gaze darts from you to the monster, then back to the monster.
He's flanked by two others, one with shaggy brown hair and freckles who looks to him in deference, and the other, dark-skinned and serious, who steps forward, side-by-side with the speaker.
"Minho," commands the dark-skinned boy, "check that the Griever's really dead."
The boy who spoke first nods and starts toward you, trepidatious at first, then more sure as sees the monster (the Griever?) more clearly. "Definitely looks dead," he says. "I don't know how she's not."
Their stares feel like drills boring into your skin. Your back aches, hot with blood, and the muscles in your legs are tightening up. Your mission is done, you should feel happy, but you're still here in this strange, wrong, too-familiar place, and the adrenaline that had been fueling you is fading. You want to go home. You want your sleeping bag, covered in a blanket of fur and nestled in the—the—Gone. The memory is gone.
I had a mission, you think. And then you say it out loud, testing the words on your tongue, "I had a mission."
The boy closest to you, the one who'd been called Minho, stares at you like you've grown a second head. "You're jacked," he says with a breathy, perplexed chuckle.
The insult is on your lips before you can remember where it comes from: "Crackhead."
Minho lets out a booming laugh, then turns to the other boys. "Can we keep her, Alby?"
The serious boy, Alby, frowns deeper. "We need to hold a Gathering. Thomas, go tell Newt. We'll be right there."
The third boy, the one with brown hair and freckles, nods warily. He takes one last look at you and sprints back the way he came. You watch him go, ignoring the boys he left behind until you hear a clatter of metal.
Your body jerks into action, spinning around and putting your hands up, ready to fight the Griever again if you have to. But it was just Minho kicking the creature's body, poking and prodding at its innards.
"What's your name?" Alby asks from behind you.
You turn and back up a few steps so you can keep both boys in your field of vision. Minho is crouched over the Griever. Alby is staring at you, his gaze heavy, solemn. Distrustful.
"Y/N," you tell him.
Minho pries the Griever's jaw open. His voice echoes off the metal tunnel of the Griever's throat as he asks, "How'd you avoid getting stung?"
Before you can answer, Alby cuts in, voice sharp and angry. "Where did you come from? What do you mean mission?"
Your body aches. You don't want to be here, standing over a mutated, cybernetic monster, being questioned by strangers. "I don't know. I can't remember anything."
"You remembered more than we did," Alby fires back.
Minho straightens up. "Let's get her back to the Glade, Alby. She can answer at the Gathering."
You hate their lingo, want to spit on all of the slang you don't understand because you know the words that should be there instead (it's not called the Glade, it's called the…) but you can't find the words, so you jog with them through the maze, following Minho, Alby a few paces behind you. They have you locked in. There's an urge to break away from them at one of the intersections. You could push Minho into the wall and sprint past him, only where would you go?
"What is this place?" you ask as you run.
Minho glances back at you. He looks apprehensive, but there's a curious glint in his eyes. "We're in the Maze. Although, you really shouldn't be in here, Greenie." Looking forward again, he speaks in a louder voice, "Clearly you're a rule-breaker."
You still kind of want to push him.
As you get closer to the "Glade," you hear the murmur of voices. It gets louder and louder, until you can see the door at the end of the corridor and, beyond it, a swarm of boys. Somehow, they get even more raucous as you get closer. Their shouts blur together, meaningless words and sounds filling the air. They clamber into each other, everyone wanting to get closer, no one willing to step into the Maze.
"Out of the way, shanks!" Minho yells.
Boys push and pull, slinging insults and questions, and somehow the mass of chaos becomes two distinct groups, one on each side of you.
Minho leads you across the grass to a rustic building. It's practical and sturdy, all of the effort put towards making a building that won't fall, none left to make it inviting. Inside is quieter. For a second, you're grateful because the blood rushing in your ears and the pain singing across your body is enough noise. But as you follow Minho into another room, the air grows thick and tense. Every breath feels like you could choke on it.
Eleven boys sit in a semicircle, two empty seats amid the line. In the middle of the room is a single empty chair.
Your stomach sinks. Your feet pulse with pain.
Alby enters behind you, jerking his chin at the chair in the center. "That's yours." He watches and waits until you slowly walk to the chair and sink into it.
Your skin feels hot. You're acutely aware of the blood on your clothes, the sweat on your body. You feel like a science experiment, everyone examining you, anticipating your reactions so they can write them down, dissect them, find the answers they want. Mouth dry, you swallow and wait.
Alby and Minho take their seats, Minho beside the third boy from the Maze, the one Alby called Thomas.
"Who—"
"Why—"
"She's a—"
"We can't trust—"
"She killed a Griever." Alby's voice rises above the rest, the stern tone of a leader.
The other boys erupt into more questions. They bounce off the walls. You don't know who to look at, gaze darting from boy to boy until you land on the blond next to Alby. He's one of the few that isn't speaking, his brown eyes boring into yours. You don't know if he sees fatigue, fear, or anger on your face, but he gives a slight nod, almost to himself, and holds up a hand.
"Slim it!"
The others get out a few more unanswered questions before falling silent.
"What do you remember?" the blond asks, his words tinged with a familiar accent. You can't place where you've heard it, who you've heard it from, but you remember that she had blonde hair too, and…The thought fades away.
"I know I had a mission," you say. It's as simple as that, but the boys stare at you like you're speaking another language.
"What does that even—"
"Who gave you—"
"Where the fuck did you come from?"
The blond again holds his hand up against the barrage of questions.
The large boy to your left who spoke last scoffs and protests, "Let us ask, Newt. I know how we can get some answers."
Biting your tongue to keep more insults, origins unknown, from bursting out, you add the name to your memory, filing it with the others. The boy with the accent is Newt. The leader is Alby. You followed Minho through the Maze. And the third boy from the Maze who sits beside Minho, eyebrows furrowed together, his name is—
Thomas stands up. He looks far away, his eyes distant and unfocused. The room slowly quiets down.
"What is it, mate?" Newt asks.
Thomas doesn't look at him. For a few seconds, he just stares at the wall. Then his eyes snap to you. "She shouldn't be here."
The large boy grins, a harsh, twisted thing. "The Greenie's growing a brain."
Thomas doesn't react. Your eyes are locked with his, your breath stuck in your chest. Should you stop him? Should you beg him to continue? You don't have time to do either. Thomas stares at you and speaks.
"She's from Group B."

Masterlist
Pairing: Minho x Reader
Warnings: death
Word count: 1713
I used some references of one or two Tiktoks, Welcome to Gravity Falls and maybe some more I forgot about. It's an older story from my Wattpad account and since I hadn't much time I just translated it, so the quotes might be wrong.
Tumblr media
Minho and Y/n were inseparable. Since she arrived at the glade with a few other guys they always stayed together.

"Hey, did you call Gally a bitch?" asked Minho after he approached Y/n.
A bit further away you could here Gally screaming and other people tried to calm him down.
"Yes! He eat our chocolate." Y/n defended herself while crossing her arms over her chest.
"Hey you can't- This bitch stole our chocolate?!"
"See! As if he couldn't have asked."
"As if we would have given him some."
»»--« »--««
"Y/n!" Minho yelled as he ran up to her.
Y/n didn't move an inch. Instead, she tried to finish her conversation with Alby as soon as possible.
When he drew closer, he shouted again, "Piggyback ride!" and leaped on the back.
Y/n stumbled briefly, but she was able to support Minhos' weight.
"Alright Alby, see you later! Y/n and I are out! Off to freedom!" Minho punched the air in celebration, while Y/n remained still.
Minho repeated the action rather than giving up. "I said, 'Off to freedom.'"
Y/n just shook her head and tried to throw Minho off her back, before leaving him in the dust as she headed to the kitchen.
Alby, on the other hand, simply rolled his eyes and walked away. He still held back his laughs. He'd become accustomed to yours and Minhos' stupidity.
»»--« »--««
"What's the matter, Minho?" Y/n chuckled and nudged his side. "Are you scared?"
The black-haired runner was nervous since it was the first time they were alone in the maze.
"As if. I'm-," Minho began.
"Yes, you are," Y/n chuckled, poking his side again.
"No I- Ow! Stop doing that, Y/n." He tried to swat her hand away.
Both of them froze, when they heard a loud growl in the distance. Y/n grabbed Minhos' arm and attempted to hide behind him. He would have made fun of her if he hadn't been so terrified back then.
"What was that?" Y/n questioned. "Was that your stomach?" she asked, much calmer than before.
"No. My stomach normally makes whale noises," he explained.
Y/n placed her ear on his tummy and listened just to be sure.
"Wow. Majestic."
»»--« »--««
"I'm not adorable. I will fight against you at the next bonfire," Minho stated and pretended to be taller than Gally. "We will see who is adorable then. Come on, Y/n, we're leaving."
His nose began to tickle just as he was about to take the first step away from Gally.
"Pfu," he sneezed softly.
"Aww, you sneeze like a kitten," Y/n said with a smile.
"Shut up, maybe he didn't hear it."
»»--« »--««
"Hey Newt! Did it hurt when you fell form heaven? 'cause it sure hurt when I did," Y/n wiggled her eyebrows.
"Did you just hit on yourself?" the blonde asked a bit confused.
"Yes she did and you have become irrelevant. Goodbye," laughed Minho while he lifted Y/n up as if she was nothing and sat her on his shoulders, before he walked away.
"What the bloody hell was that?" the second in command asked, more to himself then anybody else.
»»--« »--««
"Finally! We have the bonfire all to ourselves!" Y/n laughed, a little tipsy from Gallys' moonshine.
The rest of the gladers already went to sleep, so that only Y/n and Minho were left.
"What do you say? Dance party?"
"Y/n I-"
"Doesn't sound like a no for me~" she sang and began to dance with Minho.
»»--« »--««
"Stop him!" Y/n screamed to Newt, who was watching Minho and the girl run up to him.
"Jeez Minho, what did you do?" he asked when he came to halt in front of his friend.
"I- Wait what? Nothing!"
"Ha, tag! Your it!" Y/n called and poked his shoulder, before sprinting away.
"Look what you've done," Minho pouted, as he followed the girl.
»»--« »--««
"Dips on the top bunk!" they both shouted at the same moment, leaping onto the bunkbed.
"Jinxed and now get out," both of them said again at the same time and started a little fright.
"If you don't stop, they'll kick us out again," Newt moaned as he flung his pillow to break up the fight.
"Jokes on you. I will keep that," Y/n stuck out her tongue while trying to make herself comfortable.
"Y/n, get your ass out of my face!"
"Get your face out of my ass," she hissed as she smacked Minho with her pillow.
At one point, they just sat across from one another and just stared.
"I won't move."
"That's fine with me, Min-Min."
The next morning, Y/n awoke with a mustache on her face, much to everyone's delight.
"I was going to ask where you got the sharpie from, but I'm more intrigued in how I - as the only girl here - have more beard than all of you guys together."
Everybody went silent and with a proud smile Y/n went to get some breakfast.
»»--« »--««
"Wake up, common Minho!" Y/n screamed, concerned.
After they escaped Wicked, a lightning struck Minho as they ran away from a storm.
"Am I dead? Is that hell?" Minho murmured, and Y/n finally allowed herself to breathe again. "How do I look?" he asked, touching his hair.
"As ugly as always. Now get up," Y/n smiled and offered her hand to him.
»»--« »--««
Y/n watched the sunrise from the rooftop of the 'rebels' quarters, or whatever they were called.
"Hey," Newt said quietly as he sat down next to her.
Y/n just got into an argument with Thomas. It was about the plan to save Minho after he was kidnapped by Wicked once again. When she realized she wasn't herself, she left the room to prevent more damage. Newt had a feeling something was up, so he followed her.
"I need him. I need Minho," she whispered back, with tears in her eyes. "I'm scared." She drew up her sleeve, revealing the dark veins that wandered down her lower arm.
Newt remained silent for a minute before pulling her into a hug and eventually saying something to her. "I promise we'll get him back."
»»--« »--««
"Minho!" Y/n called out happy, when they realized who was standing in front of them.
They searched the whole headquarters to find him and now he was saving their lives. All of them quickly hugged each other, because at least for Y/n it was the last hug of this kind.
"Is this real?" he asked still a bit worried, while watching his three best friends.
"As real as your ugly hair," Y/n smiled.
»»--« »--««
"Just go without me," Y/n said as she realized her legs were no longer moving.
"Forget that idea right now. We will not abandon you!" Minho screamed above the gunfire and explosions.
"Minho, she is right. You, Gally, and Newt are going to get the serum. Get back as soon as possible. Otherwise, we won't be able to get there in time," Thomas agreed.
Minho nodded, knowing he was right, but he couldn't leave the girl behind, whose condition was deteriorating by the second.
"Keep on fighting. We will return in a moment," He muttered in her ear and kissed her on the cheek before approaching Gally, who only nodded in her direction.
Newt instantly approached her and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Please stay safe, okay? Could you please give this to him, if I don't make it?"
When he didn't move, Y/n did the only thing that came to mind. "Please Newtie... please," she cried.
Knowing she would have done the same, he took the necklace and kissed her hand as he took it and whipped her tears away.
"Stay strong."
"I'll tell Alby you were a great leader," she said one more time before a pain rushed through her body and she coughed up black mucus.
"We can do this, Y/n.", she suddenly heard Thomas next to her, realizing that the others were gone.
"Please watch out for them... and yourself. You've all been through hell, and you deserve to be happy."
Thomas examined her before deciding what to do. He drew Y/n to her feet and began following their friends.
»»--« »--««
But it was all for nothing when the girl's lifeless body dropped to the ground. Thomas couldn't bear the look on Minhos' face so he left to get Teresa, still shocked and heartbroken about what happened moments ago.
"Y/n," Minho said as he sank down next to her. "I was to slow right?"
When he carefully closed her eyes, he yelled out her name in pain not even feeling Newt's touch on his shoulder.
"It's not your fault, Minho," Newt embraced him gently.
"I never told her that I loved her," he cried.
Newt and Gally were at a loss on what to do. How could they help Minho if the only person who could, was no longer alive?
»»--« »--««
Dear Minho,
I simply wanted you to know I wasn't scared. At the very least, not from death. When I first felt the flare running through my head, I was afraid about forgetting you. I thought about you every night. How you spat water in Albys' face because I made you laugh, or one of our countless other stories. I want you to make new memories like this with the others. I might not be there for you, but Newt, Thomas, Fry, and even Gally will be there, alright? I believe you can do this. I want you to be happy, Min-Min, because you deserve it, and I don't want you to have any regrets. Regardless of the fact that you never told me about your feelings or that I'm unable to sit next to you right now. Are you surprised? I knew you were madly in love with me. Do you know why? Because I love you too. So, thank you. Thank you so much for being there for me every time I needed you. Thank you, for giving me this tingly feeling when you looked at me. Thank you for just existing. Please stay save. Be happy and never every feel bad if you catch feelings for another person. It's okay.
Love Y/n ♥︎
»»--« »--««
Minho closed his eyes and thought back. Back in the days were everything was alright. Back in the days were Y/N was with him. Back in the days where he didn't feel like something was missing.

(The Maze Runner) You Challenge Him To Spar at the Bonfire
(Author’s Note:  In my fics/imagines/headcanons, Gladers are aged up, and also movie version...)
- - - -
Thomas: He'd raise his brows.
"Really? You sure?"
After you reiterate that you're certain, and you do a few warm-up stretches to prove your point, he gives a shrug and joins you in the ring. He holds off at first and lets you get in a few good moves before deciding he wanted to end it.
You end up on the ground with him trying to hold back a smirk.
You take advantage of his gloating to maneuver around in order to flip him. He gives you an impressed wide-eyed look as he brushes the dust off his clothes and gets up.
- - - -
Newt: He refuses at first, insisting humorously you'd definitely kick his rear before taking a sip of Gally's special beverage.
After some pleas and playful teasing, you may just get him in the ring. Newt chuckles at your enthusiasm. You might get him in a difficult hold if you capitalize on his injury, but Newt is quick to turn the tables.
His expression turns serious as he gazes into your eyes, and your taunts are long over in the heated moment.
And then he helps you to your feet like a gentleman.
- - - -
Minho: He gets a big kick out of your challenge. He can't help but smile and chuckle as he takes a ready stance. You catch him off guard with the first move, causing him to be seriously impressed. He realizes that you're not only adorable but a worthy opponent, so he ups his game.
There's a back and forth dance in the ring, as Minho is still having fun with it. Finally, the match concludes with a swift strike on your part, getting him in a hold. Minho gives a conceding shrug, barely holding back a smile.
"Alright, you got me."
- - - -
Gally: He watches you enter the ring with hands resting on his hips, brows raised. He's still out of breath from the previous match.
"I'm not going to take it easy on you," he warns.
Then he proceeds to take it easy on you.
As Keeper of the Builders, Gally is no joke. You realize quickly that the only reason the match isn't over already is because he hasn't decided to end it yet.
This both touches your heart and also spurns you on simultaneously. You decide to go on the offense, just so Gally knows he can't go that easy on you.
He gets the message pretty quickly. Even so, you find yourself out of the ring in the next instant. He can't help but look impressed, and he notices immediately the determination in your eyes.
"Wanna' go again?"

"Wake up Y/N!" Echoed throughout your mind, at first you thought it was your own voice, yelling at you to finish the conversation you started but then it sounded a little to real. You felt your body begin to shake but not on its own, someones hands were on you, someone was yelling at you. "Please wake up!"
Your eyes slowly opened, a pounding headache ripped through your skull like an awful shock. You let out a groan when the person helped you sit up, but nothing about it was gentle.
"We have to go!" It was Minho's voice. You turned your eyes towards his large ones. Panic and still a little bit of anger was written over his face, you furrowed your brows. You knew why he was angry but why did he seem so scared.
"What-" He pulled you to your feet before you could finish your sentence, harshly shoving you towards the huts door. "Stop Minho just stop!" You yelled, pushing him away from you with the little bit of strength you could muster.
"We don't have time!"
"What are you talking about-" Loud screams made way towards your ears, screams of the boys you had spent months with. Confusion laced your face as you looked to the door you were only inches from.
"They're here," Minho whispered, your head snapped towards his as panic slowly crept into your blood.
"What do you mean?" You asked but Minho wasn't even paying you any mind as he slowly opened the door to the hut. You wanted to ask more questions about what the hell was going on, you wanted to yell at him for causing you to panic, but the look on his face made you keep your mouth shut.
"Fuck," his breathing was getting a little more heavy, he looked stressed but scared, and when his eyes connected with yours you knew he was feeling all that for you. He grabbed your arm harshly before opening the door and tugging you with him as he ran out.
Your eyes grew twice in size when you saw it, no, them. Dozens of them, each just as big and horrifying as that day in the maze. You thought for a second you had forgotten what they looked like but no, they wouldn't let any of you forget.
Your heart pounded with each step you took, praying to whatever was out there that they wouldn't turn your way. You felt yourself let out a cry when you saw one of the boys right in the same position you were in only a couple of days ago. He wasn't dead yet, but you knew that this time they wouldn't just sting you and then leave.
You screamed when the griever did what you knew it would, causing the boy to let out a gargled yell. You knew him, he was on of the builders who was close with Gally, the only one who was brave enough to stand up to him whenever he got angry.
"Y/N don't stop!" Minho yelled but you couldn't stop your legs from giving out, you couldn't rip your eyes from that boy, he was still alive, barely alive. Minho pulled your arm but you only took one step, you were crying, it felt as if you were going to have a panic attack, or you were already having it. Minho was yelling at you but you couldn't even hear him, all you could hear was all the screaming, all the death.
You felt warm hands grab your face, causing you to turn your eyes to his. He was panicked, same as you but for some reason he seemed to be handling this a lot better.
"You need to get yourself together Y/N. I know this is scary but you will end up like him if we stop," he was referring to the boy you only just ripped your gaze off of. "We can't stop moving do you understand me! Just keep your eyes on me." His tone frighten you, his eyes, his body language, everything about him in this moment scared you.
But nonetheless you nodded. Forcing yourself to move, forcing yourself to keep your eyes on him. You don't know why but you trusted him, even after everything you had just told him, you still trusted him more than you have ever trusted anyone before.
"Open the door!" Minho yelled when you both reached the map room. The door swung open and without hesitation Minho shoved you inside, closing the door behind him.
"Y/N shuck your okay," Newt breathed as he pulled you in for a hug, your eyes went straight for Minho's whose eyes were already on you two. Confusion filled every part of you. He hadn't told them? Why?
But you didn't have time to ask any questions before you all heard a low growl. Your heart launched at the familiar noise, every sense in your body becoming alive. Your eyes followed the noise of each step until it got quiet.
You breathed out as silently as you knew how, scared that it would be able to hear the slightest of sounds. Everyone seemed to be thinking the same thing for you had never heard it be as quiet. You yet out a small yelp when it jump onto the top of the hut, everyone crouched down the more it walked.
You felt hands on your back, your neck, they were bringing you closer to him. They were softer this time, not as harsh as before, making surprise run through you when you saw that it was Minho. His eyes were however glued to the roof with one hand gripping tight to a sward.
You didn't even have time to let out a sound when the griever broke though the roof, grabbing a stick that held up the ceiling causing it to crash down. Minho harshly moved you behind him.
His quick movements and protective hand placements made your heart race even more than the thought of a griever looming overhead. The remains from the collapsing ceiling filled the air with dust and noise, making it almost impossible to see or hear anything clearly. You clutched at Minho's arm, fear making its way into your head, what if this was the last time you would ever see him.
"Why didn't you tell them?" you managed to shout over the noise, your voice shaking with more than fear.
Minho glanced back at you, his expression torn between frustration and fear. "Not now!" he shouted back, pushing you further behind him as another section of the roof gave way, sending splinters flying in all directions.
You didn't even have time to respond when around you Newt and the others were scrambling, trying to find weapons or anything that could be used to fend off the griever that was now fully intent on invading the space.
As the griever ripped through the remaining pieces of the ceiling, all hell broke loose. It was like total chaos, with the griever going wild, it's multiple limbs flailing around as it desperately searched for someone to attack.
And in the midst of all the noise and confusion, there was poor Chuck, frozen in sheer terror. Before any of you could even react, the griever's limb shot out and grabbed hold of Chuck with terrifying accuracy.
Alby sprung into action without a moment's hesitation. Armed with a sturdy piece of broken wood, he relentlessly pounded the griever's limb with a determination you could practically feel. The creature recoiled slightly, loosening its grip on Chuck just enough for him to scramble away. But in that brave moment of distraction, the griever shifted its attention to Alby.
Once again, the grievers limb sprung out, grabbing Alby and pulling him closer to the opening in the ceiling. The sight of Alby being pulled further and further towards the griever sent a jolt of fear and guilt through your whole body.
Acting on instinct, you and Thomas grabbed hold of Alby's arms and legs, straining against the strength of the Griever. You could hear the others yelling, you could hear Minho yelling, telling you to get back and let go but you didn't even try to listen to him. The guilt that this was all your fault was eating you alive.
Alby's face twisted with pain as he shouted above the noise. "Thomas get them out! Now!" You wanted to shout or cry out, you wanted to wake up from this nightmare, you wanted to make everything go away, but you couldn't. And when Alby let go of both you and Thomas you couldn't help but yell.
Minho was quick to grab a hold of you, forcing you back and into his arms. Tears dripped down your face as you felt yourself give in to the overwhelming fear. This was all your fault, they were all in here because of you, you let them be in here. Why the hell would you do that? You couldn't think of one good reason.
You could see everyone begin to leave the hut, and soon Minho was pulling you out as well. He tried his best to calm you down but you couldn't think past the fear and the guilt. They were all gonna die. And it would all be your fault.
"It's going to be okay," you could hear Minho whisper, and it made you angry. Why the hell wasn't he angry with you, what the hell is wrong with him? After everything you've told him you would've expected him to be angry a lot longer than 10 minutes.
You pushed him away from you, not moving from the place you stood as everyone else moved away from the hut. Minho wasn't moving either, his eyes glued to yours. And for once you couldn't read them.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" you yelled. "Why didn't you tell anyone? Why aren't you hating me or throwing me towards the grievers? Why aren't you angry-"
"Oh believe me Y/N I am very angry but I don't have time to be angry. Look around you-"
"Exactly Minho! Look around you!"
"Y/N-"
"This is all my fault, alby is dead because of me, everyone is dead because of me!"
"Can-"
"And if you don't get away from me than you will be dead too-"
"I do hate you, Y/N, but not for the reasons you think!" His words cut through the air, sharp and steady despite the chaos still lingering around you both. "I hate that they sent you here without a choice, that you’re caught up in this without knowing why. I hate that the creators are playing these games with our lives!"
You flinched, the harshness of his words a clear difference to the gentle person you knew him to be. His hands fell from your shoulders as if he realized how hard he was holding you.
"I know you didn’t ask for any of this. I know you might not even know why you were sent down here," Minho continued, his voice now a mix of anger and desperation. "But you being a part of them, even without knowing, it changes everything."
You searched his face, looking for the Minho you knew beneath the layers of hurt, betrayal and anger. You didn't even know what to say but Minho didn't seem to be done.
"I hate that you're part of them, Y/N. I hate what they did to us, and I hate that you out of all people..." he stopped himself, his voice worn. His hands clenched at his sides, fists tight as if trying to grasp the anger and wring it out.
"But what kills me, what I can't stand the most, is that even with all of that, I can't stop caring about you." His voice broke slightly. "I’m so mad, not just with them, but with myself too. Because no matter how much I want to, I can’t push you away. I can’t stop loving you."
You could feel your heart drop at his words, your breathing becoming heavy as you looked into his eyes, you could see the resentment that you are tied to the creators in him. And you didn't know if he would be able to forgive you for that, even if his words tell you what you always wanted to hear. He stepped closer.
"Every part of me wants to hate you for being part of what’s ruining our lives, but then I see you, I remember who you really are, and all I feel is this... this overwhelming love."
He paused, his gaze locked on yours, searching for some kind of reaction. "It’s not fair to you, and it’s not fair to me. We're caught in this terrible place, and I don’t even know how to control my feelings anymore. But here’s the truth—I love you, Y/N. And that’s why I’m so angry. I’m angry because I don’t want anything to ruin what we have, not even the mess that we're in."
The raw honesty in his words caused you to let out a small cry, tears spilled down your face as you felt relief fill your body. Relief that he didn't hate you. You reached out, your hand brushing against his, you opened your mouth to say something but Minho suddenly closed the distance between you.
His hands found the sides of your face, pulling you suddenly into a passionate kiss. It was a harsh, desperate, his lips moving against yours with so much anger.
The kiss was heated, almost punishing, as if Minho was trying to communicate all his frustration and hurt through this kiss. His grip was tight, not willing to let you go, as if afraid that you might slip away. Your hands griped his hair, pulling him closer towards your body, and with this single act Minho deepened the kiss quickly.
As Minho's hands slid from your cheeks to tangle in your hair, the kiss grew more intense, more demanding. You clung to him, pulled into the centre of his needs, becoming eager for more. His body pressed closer, aligning with yours, each touch sparking a fire that threatened all rational thoughts.
As Minho finally pulled back, his breath ragged, his eyes searched yours. "I can't not love you, no matter how angry I am, no matter what they've made you a part of," he breathed out, his voice low and husky. "I hate this situation, not you. Never you."

Wasn't Planning On It

Hurt/Comfort
Newt x reader
Navigation
Warnings: Swear words, knife, sexual assault
---
"Hurry, there's a bonfire tonight, don't want you to miss too much of it." Y/N nodded, a smile on their face as they followed his instructions, picking up the tools. Newt smiled back and walked away. Newt suppressed his own smile, knowing that Minho would only make fun of him for it. However, as always, he was unsuccessful.
"Hey there lover boy!" Minho said, throwing his arms around Newt's shoulder. Every two weeks, runners take a day off. They switch days, just to make sure there's always someone in the maze gathering intel. Sadly for Newt, this meant that Minho had seen the entire interaction. "Is it true you two spend most of your time together? Been hearing some rumors around the bend." Newt rolled his eyes, shoving Minho off.
"Shut it shank," Newt muttered. Minho laughed.
"Only ‘cause you asked so nicely," He said. Newt and Minho talked for a bit. The fire was lit, however, there was no sign of Y/N. No one saw this as strange, considering Y/N did tend to be more of a quiet person, so no one was truly worried. Y/N had also talked about being tired during the day, so it could easily be led to the conclusion that they simply decided to go to sleep early. On the other hand, Newt knew them better than that. Even if they had gone to sleep, they would've said goodnight first. However, whenever Newt voiced his concerns to his friends he got the same response.
  "Damn, Newt, so clingy."
"Leave the girl alone, she needs a break."
  "Stop being a worry wart."
"You're way too obsessed, it's concerning."
Then there was the very special one, from Minho, who spent an entire five minutes picking fun at Newt's attraction to Y/N. Newt groaned in annoyance, seeing that no one believed there was an alternate option to what Y/N was doing. The only person who showed any slight bit of concern was Alby, who told Newt that Newt could go check their room in twenty minutes. Twenty agonizing minutes went by, taking their precious time. Due to Newt's composure, Alby allowed him to go five minutes early. Since Y/N was definitely a target of some of the boys here, Alby decided it'd be best to have them on the other side of his room from where the rest of the boys were. They were between Newt and Alby, both of whom had the trust of Y/N. Newt wasted no time walking towards Y/N's hut, bit wearing to waste time. He was halfway there when a scream came from the deadheads. Now, while none of the gladers truly knew what Y/N's voice or scream sounded like, considering they couldn't know if their timidness affected their voice or not, Newt knew that was them. There was no hesitation as he ran in the dead heads, not even bothering to look to see if anyone heard it as well. Newt heard several people calling for him, advising that he didn't risk it. Others were running the second they heard the scream. Newt ran the fastest, dodging branches and rocks as he found his way to the tool shed. There was the newbie, standing over Y/N with his shirt off along with a knife in his hands. Y/N's shirt was unbuttoned as they desperately tried to cover themself while attempting to get away.
"You had one fucking job, you bitch. But no, why the hell would you ever listen to me?" The newbie said, voice heavy with anger and frustration. "I wasn't going to hurt you too much, I told you this. You should’ve just listened to me."
"Get the hell away from them." Newt's voice wasn't his own. It sounded darker. Y/N didn't even realize it was him at first until they saw him. The newbie scoffed and shook his head.
"So you can have them all for yourself, Newt? I don't think so." That's when Newt acted. He jumped forward, grabbing tightly and rolling him off of Y/N. While Newt and the newbie fought, the other gladers arrived. Several tried to approach Y/N, but they backed away, trying to cover themself. What Newt hadn't realized was that the newbies had cut the buttons of their shirt, making it impossible for them to actually cover themself back up. As Minho pulled Newt back, all Newt could see was red when looking at the newbie. Minho was saying something, but he couldn't take his focus off of the newbie as he fought against Minho, trying to get him to let go.
"Newt listen to me." Another kick. "Newt, come on, come on!" Still struggling. "This isn't helping Y/N whatsoever, get it together!" Upon the use of their name, Newt remembered the reason this had all started in the first place. He quickly scanned the area, trying to find them. His eyes landed on the shaking body against the tool shed, arms grabbing at their shirt as they covered their chest. Eyes wide, full of anxiety and fear, staring at the newbie who had just been over top of them. Any time anyone would get close, they'd kick back at them and start shaking more, obviously not wanting anyone near them. When they finally looked at Newt, at first they seemed to relax. However, seeing Minho holding him back as he had a murderous look in his eyes caused the fear to come back in their eyes, but now with a tongue of betrayal along with slight hesitation about whether or not they are truly backing away from him. Finally, Newt got out of Minho's hold, but he didn't go for the newbie. He went straight to Y/N, who may have been scared, but the energy to fight back had been drained. They flinched back slightly, but Newt hugged them instead of what they were expecting. Y/N relaxed against him, though they were still shaking. Newt kept their ears covered as the others dragged the newbie away, who was kicking and screaming to try and get back to Newt.
“Come on, Y/N, let’s go back to my shack, alright?” Y/N nodded, standing up with Newt.
“Newt,” Minho said behind him. He turned back to see Minho holding Alby’s jacket, Alby walking away to confront the newbie. Newt nodded to thank him before taking it and placing it over Y/N's shoulders. The walk back was quiet, aside from the distant yelling coming from the other gladers. Newt led Y/N back to their hut, where he found them a new shirt and stood outside while they changed. The door opened behind him and he turned, glad to see Y/N there welcoming him in. Y/N sat down on her bed and Newt sat next to her. Multiple times he felt like saying something, but due to a lack of knowledge about what to say, he stayed quiet. After a few minutes, Y/N sighed.
“I tried to kick him back… I swear I did,” They muttered. “I just- I just froze. He had a knife, I didn’t know what to do.” Newt nodded.
“I know you did, Y/N,” He replied. Y/N didn’t say anything, keeping their eyes on their hands. Newt nodded to himself as he stood up. “Go ahead and lay down, Y/N. I’ll be back in a minute.” Newt left, not waiting for Y/N’s response. Y/N sighed, pulling their feet up on the bed, but not turning to lie down. A few minutes later, Newt walked back in, a blanket from the med hut in his hands. “Come on, Y/N, you need to get some sleep.” Y/N nodded, leaning back and resting her head on her pillow as Newt pulled the blanket to cover them. Before he could say anything, Y/N grabbed his hand.
  “Please don’t go,” They muttered.
  “I wasn’t planning on it.”

warnings: alcohol ig, mention of sex but nothing happened
main masterlist
holy shit did she need a drink. y/n made a beeline for gally’s moonshine, quickly plucking a jar up for herself, making a short point to raise it his way in thanks. she chugged a few gulps as she stepped over to her usual tree to haul herself out of reach for a good few minutes.
leaning back against the trunk behind her, she watched the boys fight and dance around like children.
a bonfire never did fail to bring their spirits back up.
but no matter how hard she tried she couldn’t push today’s events to the back of her mind.
----
“yeah well that’s just the problem isn’t it? you’re so great! you’re so perfect!” she threw her arms up in annoyance, anger filling her body as her head spun in her moment of rage. it was all becoming too much.
she was sick of the constant discrimination, the lack of belief in her abilities as a runner, as a keeper. it was always, ‘don’t worry, i’ll ask minho’, ‘it’s fine, minho can deal with it’, ‘minho would do it’, ‘you’re not doing it right, minho would know’
she didn’t even know why she was taking it out on him, why she was starting an argument. he didn’t know. he would never know.
but something about just how perfect he was made her so.. angry.
“come on!” he started with a scoff, growing angrier the more she made assumptions. he took a step towards her, intimidating “look, i’m sorry you find me so perfect but-”
“no! it’s always you!” she begun to step his way, arms pushing at his chest, hands desperately clinging to his shirt, shoving him backwards, forcing him to stumble into the hundreds of maze drawings scattered around them. “i don’t understand why they think you’re so much better than me! you’re so- ugh!”
she finally let go of him, both wobbling from the momentum of the push, minho falling in front of her.
he stared at her for a moment, stunned. a moment way too long, apparently, had he wanted to say something.
she felt the tears well up in her eyes, frustration and realisation taking over from the blinding anger as she fled.
“hey- wait!”
----
later, she supposed. later, she’d apologise. but for now, she’d stick to avoiding him like usual. they never did work out their problems..
she could feel her head getting fuzzy, pulse speeding up as her tension loosened. mm, maybe that was the best idea she had had all day, though?
except..
“how about some fun boys? oh, and our dear lady?” maybe it wasn’t such a good idea.
“truth or dare?” no matter how vigorously she shook her head, nobody paid attention and she merely found herself being pulled into the circle, eyes unintentionally finding those that made her heart beat faster.
she scoffed internally, passing it off as anger. she knew that it was anything but.
“so..” the game went boringly as expected with the common ‘who do you have a crush on?’ questions being sent her way and some dares to chug drinks and do stupid stunts.
with a sigh, y/n continued to sip on her jar of moonshine, just waiting for the game to either end or get interesting.
but by interesting this wasn’t what she had in mind.
“y/n, truth or dare?” gally smirked, tipping his jar her way. she watched him with bored eyes, tiredly calling out ‘dare’. might as well, she internally shrugged to herself.
“i dare you.. to sit on minho’s lap for the rest of the game” she almost dropped her jar in surprise. what kind of-
“unless you’re too chicken” he shrugged, mocking her as he tipped his head back to take another sip. she frowned, deeply, immediately rising to her feet, desperate to prove her point.
she wasn’t just another shank, she wasn’t scared. she plopped herself right in her co-keepers lap, sending them a daring look, as if challenging them to say something.
the boys screeched, going wild at the blush on their faces. though they would probably blame it on the drink she couldn’t deny her heart was racing, the heat spreading as she felt minho’s hands gently, unsurely hold her waist.
she glowered at the rowdy boys, immediately shutting them up with a snap “newt! truth or dare?”
at least she had that power over them, she supposed.
before she knew it she woke up, almost nose-to-nose with the one boy she didn’t want near her after last night’s memories. although she couldn’t seem to piece together all of yesterday’s events, unsure how she wound up next to him.
as she stared at him wide eyed, he slowly groaned, blinking the sleep out of his eyes before matching her gaze.
“what the shuck?!” she immediately went for the defensive route. “why are you in my bed, you perverted shank?!” he groaned again, pushing at her face blindly, trying to cover her mouth.
“shut up, it’s too early for that” he dismissed, rolling onto his back and shielding his eyes with his arm.
she frowned at his lack of response, looking around to see that nothing had happened, both of them were fully clothed, in fact it only appeared that she had slept on his chest all night.
she didn’t know whether to grimace or smile, her heart inwardly doing flips in her own chest at the thought. she shook it off.
“did.. did you bring me up to bed?” she spoke softly, the most vulnerable he had ever seen her act since she came out of the box two years ago. he didn’t make his usual snarky comment, eyeing her carefully from the corner of his eye.
“yeah..” he nodded carefully, unsure of how she would act. surely not the same as last night.
----
“minhooo” she whined, dangling off his shoulder as he walked her towards her room. “minho, where are we going?” she continued to slur, nuzzling into his shirt and giggling at his scowl.
“walk, woman” he groaned, practically dragging her along. he was just glad the boys had all gone to bed, nobody in sight to witness her embarrassingly acting like a clingy drunk.
at least, she would think it was embarrassing. he wasn’t so sure he despised it with how she held onto his waist, staring up at him with lovestruck eyes.
“come on, lets just get you to bed” he sighed, using his foot to kick the door to her room open, pushing her towards the bed. “you won’t remember this in the morning”
and that thought made him a little sad.
but that quickly disappeared when she pulled him down with her, threatening to cry if he left her alone.
he allowed himself to smile, giving in to her hug.
----
“why did you stay?” she sat up almost instinctually, insecurely holding her arms to her chest.
“why not?” he sat up too, staring at her in confusion, eyebrows furrowing. did she actually not remember last night?
“don’t get me wrong, i’m not...” she paused, scratching at her arm absentmindedly as she thought of the word, “mad that you did.. i think? but... why? i mean, i’m not exactly someone you would want to be around after yesterday”
“what-” he paused, remembering the heated argument they had had earlier. before the heart fluttering truth or dare game. he pushed down a blush. “oh..”
“yeah..” she chewed on her lip, refusing to look at him. she knew she would have to say it one day. “i’m sorry”
“i know, i am too” he half-smiled before reaching for her waist again, hoping she would give in to another hug. surely they could stay like they were for a couple more minutes? “come here”
she tensed. did he.. did he really think she was that easy? she felt her insides boil, anger growing. she harshly shoved him away. “you-you! you’re just like the rest! you only want me because i’m the only girl! ugh i knew it! you’re all the same! and to think i actually liked you!”
“wait- i didn’t mean it like-” she cut him off, expression stone cold.
“get out”
“but-”
“get. out!” he scrambled up, frowning at her, hurt written all over his face before he turned, leaving.
as soon as he disappeared she broke down, sobbing. god, she just admitted to him that she liked him. the boys were going to have a field day.
to her surprise, the boys didn’t have a field day. they didn’t even look at her differently. they all still hit on her, called her names they thought were cute (they weren’t). nobody spoke differently, nobody looked at her differently.
did he.. did he seriously not tell them?
she shook her head. it didn’t matter.
it took a whole month for there to be any proper communication between the two.
both of them were stubborn. stubborn enough to need another bonfire to pull them together.
once again she found herself sipping her jar of moonshine, perched in her usual tree just trying to find some escape from reality. she couldn’t help but let her eyes drift to minho, seated in his usual spot where he ate and joked around with the other runners.
she sighed heavily, she was going to need like three jars of gally’s drink to get any ounce of courage. there was no way she could ever find herself joining them.
and yet.. she did.
“you asshole” she slurred, pointing a wobbly finger towards minho. she had been dancing with the other boys when her eyes caught his. he raised an eyebrow, urging her to go on. “you’re an asshole”
he scoffed, although greatly amused by her drunk mumblings. “maybe if you just stop accusing me and jumping to conclusions, then maybe we could have an actual conversation for once?”
“no” she huffed, crossing her arms and pouting. she had no idea what they were arguing about, it was clear as day. minho knew that, standing to bring her to bed before she revealed something she was sure to regret in the morning.
he bid farewell to the boys who complained about her leaving until newt scolded them, “she’s drunk” minho sent them a quick glare, pulling her along with him.
she was quick to change demeanour the minute they were alone, almost like she knew she didn’t have anyone to act in front of anymore.
“you know” y/n begun, a lazy smile upon her lips. she leaned into minho’s shoulder, pretending like she wasn’t three moonshine jars too drunk, “the stars are pretty”
“mm” he hummed along, more focused on getting her to bed than whatever she was rambling about. she was making it difficult though with all her struggling.
“and your eyes have stars in them” he stopped walking to raise an eyebrow, curious as to where she was going. “so you’re pretty”
he took a moment before snorting, trying hard to ignore the heat rising to his cheeks. she was drunk.
“come on, let’s get you to bed”
“noooo” she whined again, weakly pushing her hands into his chest, doing nothing to distance them, “you’ll leave me”
“i won’t” he falsely promised, knowing sober y/n wouldn’t want him to be there. especially not after last time.
“you liar” she scoffed, head pressing against his shoulder as she grew sleepier. he sighed, bending slightly to sweep her feet off the ground.
“last i checked, you didn’t want me to stay, hm?”
“but i do” she reached a hand up to his cheek, pulling his face towards her. “i like you” she giggled, and he shook his head, not believing her.
“you keep saying that but then you yell at me” he grumbled, making the same movement to kick her door open as he had the last time they stepped into her room.
“you don’t like me” she begun to sniffle, dropping her hands dramatically.
“of course i do” he quickly defended before remembering she was drunk. he laid her on her bed again, swiftly stepping away before she could pull the same trick.
“you’re a liar” she yawned but continued to stare at him, determined. “you leave and you fight with me and you don’t like me. i like you, why don’t you like me?”
“because you’re drunk and you don’t know what you’re saying” he frowned, trying had to keep his heart from beating as fast as it was.
“i may be drunk but at least i’m honest” she gave him a triumphant grin, like she had just won a game he didn’t know he was playing.
“whatever” he didn’t move, contemplating his options before moving back towards her. “if you wake up to regret it, don’t blame me, alright?”
she cheered, wrapping her arms around him and pulling him close.
when they awoke she stared at him, feeling oddly more at peace than the last time she had woken up like this. she took a moment, memories slowly piecing themselves together.
“hey..” she softly whispered as his eyes fluttered open, “i really do like you”
“mm, i like you too” he gave her a soft grin, leaning up to press a lingering kiss to her lips. her face heated up but she pushed back against him, content.
“are you going to push me away again?” he hummed teasingly, pulling her closer.
she definitely wouldn’t, she thought as she leaned into his embrace.
