When i saw the TADC teaser the other day, it inspired me to draw my TRP girls Claire Clairmint and Athena Rosenberg. Their dynamic reminds me of Pomni and Caine in the canon. (Claire being the more reserved one and Athena the loud one)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fun fact: because of Caine, I wanted to give Athena some elements to a ringmaster's uniform. Probably need to give her a redesign, i can't remember what her current design is so i made a new one up.

oooh maybe we’ll be cousin-> weeks transitions together… at my old job i had enough meetings and random stuff to need both the daily and weekly layouts of my cousin but in my new job i have less meeting and deadline wrangling, so i’m thinking of moving to the cousin…
have you tried out new trp? my cousin came with a sample and tbh i didn’t notice much of a difference. i’m a big fan of stalogy paper regardless so discontinuation of trp isn’t that devastating to me.
tell me about your favorite papers……
yeah i just don't fill up enough of the daily layout with actual meetings it just ends up being notes/tasks (which is nice to have a checklist every day).. i'm even considering getting both just to try for sure but i def don't have the money for that right now 😭 i'm also going to talk about the HON here since it might be easier, but i was interested in the HON too!!! i think the A5 has the weekly but it also has the daily so idk if i'm as interested but if i do end up getting both the weeks/cousin (or HON) i think i would go for the HON over the cousin but i'm still leaning towards the weeks but i'm sure once i see the cover designs completely i might change my mind 😔
i've tried the sample they gave with books from last year and tbh there isn't much of a difference (other than i think it's somehow thinner? which didn't even think was possible lol) i'm just a virgo who hates change and the unknown </3
oooooo, i haven't tried too many.. i've tried tomoe, midori and kokuyo (i never ended up going to tjmaxx or marshall's to get leuchtturms like i told you i would lol) and tomoe is easily my favorite... kokuyo is quick and cheap, a little too smooth for my preferred writing; i like a touch of feedback with my paper.. midori is just kind of in the middle for me and i've only used it for writing letters lmao but i wouldn't be opposed to having a full journal (i've actually been eyeing their 3 or 5 year diaries for a little but didn't want to commit bcs i haven't tried the paper but now trying it, i might bite the bullet some point!)

So WoW is my main competitive game and I take it seriously. But FFXIV has always been my main game like, period. And as much as I love WoW for the reasons that I play it (namely, mythic raiding/parsing and RP) every time I play FFXIV I can't help but feel extremely bitter towards WoW.
WoW has:
A more competitive environment and culture around pushing numbers (this is a positive to me)
Difficult fast paced raiding scene with an amount of prestige generally not found in other MMOs
A fleshed out, active RP community on my server (moonguard)
An open world that feels more alive due to the lack of loading screens between zones
FFXIV has:
Better fashion
More developer support for RP through extensive emotes etc (more on this later)
A better community as a whole
A better story
A better gearing system by the numbers, ie. This weapon is this and that's it, there's no variable. The reward structure is another topic though
BETTER RAIDS, I'M SORRY BUT IT'S TRUE. (Also more on this later)
Have I mentioned how much better the fashion is?
In regards to emotes, not only are there extensively more of them, they're variable based on things like height etc and they aren't race locked. I am so sick and tired of WoW players saying they can't let, for example, my nelf use the undead dance because they're on different skeletons. Yeah, and??? Idk what to tell you, put in the effort? They're on different skeletons in FF too but every race can use all 20 or whatever dances in that game. Stop making excuses for a company that makes billions of dollars a year.
And WoW combat is fucked, point blank end of story. Sure it's faster with a quicker GCD and it IS satisfying, otherwise I wouldn't be playing it competitively. But the fights are on two ends of the spectrum. TO THIS DAY we still have tank and spank bosses, even in end game dungeons. This is unacceptable. And on the other end of the spectrum you have fights like mythic fyrakk that are virtually impossible without extensive use of weak auras for player assignment during mechanics, DBM/big wigs for callouts etc. This is also unacceptable. They've gotten a little better with telegraphing mechanics but it's still like looking at a toddler try to cram a square peg into a round hole compared to ffxiv. It is so PATHETIC that I can run a low level dungeon in ffxiv and have a more engaging boss fight at level 60 than I'll find doing M+ at max level in WoW, and it's laughably bad at normal mode dungeons or god forbid anything pre max level.
The fact that the developers have said that they design fights around players using add-ons just makes me so angry. They need to disable and ban every single addon. Every combat addon, every cosmetic addon, ui addons, even TRP. Just get rid of all of them. Because only then will the developers have to actually do their EFFING JOB. They have gotten lazy and apathetic and it's no wonder their fucking game is dying, they have no heart in it anymore.
Design better fights! Fix your UI! And for fucks sake give us better looking fashion and let my nelf rock out with the undead dance!

3. Pain and Heat
Part 3 of my notes on An Immense World by Ed Yong, drawing from chapters 4 and 5 so you can design more biologically accurate speculative beasts.
“In which conditions and from which stimuli is it an advantage to have [pain/nocioception], experience it, and display it?”
Tumblr media
Nocioception and Pain
What is it?
Nocioception is a built-in reaction to unpleasant stimuli like heat, pressure, acid, toxins, and inflammation/injury signals. It occurs without input the brain.
Pain is the psychological experience of unpleasantness that occurs in the brain, perhaps allowing the animal to learn to avoid the nociceptor trigger.
How is used in nature?
To send an alert to avoid and move away from danger.
If the alert is not helpful for the animal to know about (i.e. the stimulus is not harmful to them, or not actionable) they likely will not feel it. Examples:
Animals like mole rats that live in high carbon dioxide environments are not sensitive to acids (CO2 acidifies mucous membranes)
Mice that eat scorpions experience their toxic sting as a painkiller
Animals only experience temperature-related “pain” when it is dangerous to them. So penguins that are adapted to live at freezing temperatures don’t feel unpleasantly “cold” until it’s actually harming their bodies.
What does it look like?
Nocioception often presents as an unconscious flinch, i.e. pulling your hand away from a hot pan.
Outwardly, pain often looks like rubbing, cradling, licking, grooming the area; heavy breathing, lack of appetite, rocking motion.
What is the experience like?
There are likely many different experiences of nocioception/pain for different organisms, just as there are many different ways to sense light.
One example: If an animal can reach its whole body, it probably has localized “pain” and can identify where the stimulus came from, so they can groom or otherwise attend to the injury.
But in squids and [perhaps other animals] where threat can come from any direction and they can’t reach much of their body, pain is felt across the whole body, not in the location of injury.
Heat
What is it?
Animals have TRP channels that are tuned to different temperatures. So there are different sensors that alert for extreme heat, extreme cold, mild heat, mild cold. Capsaicin and menthol happen to set off these sensors even though they aren’t actually “hot” or “cold”.
How is it used in nature?
To alert an animal that it needs to react to remain in its thermal “habitable zone”. i.e. With heat sensors on their antennae, flies have stereo heat detection and will swerve around to stay in a certain heat range.
To locate sources of heat important for their lifecycle from many miles away (i.e. fire-chasing beetles).
For a parasite to locate a specific host or a good site to feed – since warm-blooded animals all have their own very specific body temperature, a parasite can be tuned to detect that exact temperature.
As infrared sensors that enhance “vision”. Heat pits have an eye-like structure and may be merged into visual information in the brain. Snakes will position themselves to hunt against a backdrop where there will be a strong temperature contrast between the prey and the ground or sky.
What does it look like?
Skin, antennae, heat pits in snakes, and a dog’s cold/wet nose may all work as heat or infrared sensors. Infrared sensors are often insulated and kept at lower than body temperature so they can better distinguish changes in temperature.
What is the experience like?
Cold, heat, and pain if the temperature is outside the animal’s normal/safe living conditions.
Possibly like “blurry vision”, or as a vision enhancer in animals that have more standard light receptive eyes, i.e. allowing a snake to see heat through barriers like foliage.
As a strong directional attractant, like a beacon.

See the heat pits running along the top lip of this snake.

You ever think...how little of Fane is really Fane? His origin, (most likely rewritten/changed and) shoe-horned into the shrunken game after the development curb.
His race, a mix of repurposed Raanaar assets & a lazy simplification (@ you Godwoken novel) - which, don't get me wrong, the little differenciation Eternals DID get from the Raanaar were great! Just never elaborated upon later on. Yeah, the novel again.
The clothes he is wearing in the arts etc? Just a generic 'wizard' armor that wasn't designed just for him contrary to clothes of other origins (even though Ifan/trp don't have their clothes in game)
Tumblr media
What is really his is the key art armour, which I speculate is the Eternal Armour you can make...that doesn't look remotely close to the concept in game and only warrants ONE line of banter dialogue (which is generic, i.e every character speaks it) And the whole key art is...so foreign and seemingly random. I just don't get the bones around his neck. Maybe it's meant to represent Fane as the Divine? Exclusively? (since no other origin got such treatment) idk, this is a topic for its own 5000+ words post. His mask at the very least gets better treatment, but the inability to use it with a helm makes it inefficient in the late game. Which is a gameplay woe that could be adressed with what, one additional activate/deactivate toggle?
ugh
This was faneposter speaking her second dos2 rant this week from the deepest depths of hell she confined herself to. Madwoman out.

Unlocking the Gateway to Canada: A Comprehensive Guide to Tourist and Visit Visas
Introduction: Canada's breathtaking landscapes, vibrant cities, and rich cultural tapestry beckon travelers from around the globe. Whether you're yearning to witness the awe-inspiring beauty of Niagara Falls or explore the cosmopolitan charm of Toronto, embarking on a journey to Canada is a dream for many. However, navigating the intricacies of obtaining a tourist or visit visa is crucial for a seamless and enjoyable travel experience. In this guide, we delve into everything you need to know about Canada's tourist visa and visit visa, ensuring your journey is as smooth as maple syrup.
Tumblr media
Understanding Canada Tourist Visa: The Canada Tourist Visa, officially known as the Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), is designed for individuals who wish to visit Canada for leisure, tourism, or to visit family and friends. This visa is typically granted for a duration of up to six months, allowing visitors ample time to explore the wonders of the Great White North.
To apply for a Canada Tourist Visa, applicants must fulfill certain criteria, including providing proof of sufficient funds to cover their stay, a valid passport, and a completed application form. Additionally, applicants may be required to undergo a medical examination and provide biometric information, such as fingerprints and a photograph.
It's important to note that obtaining a Canada Tourist Visa does not guarantee entry into the country. Upon arrival, visitors must satisfy the immigration officer that they meet the requirements for entry, including possessing a valid visa, a return ticket, and proof of accommodation.
Navigating Canada Visit Visa: While the Canada Tourist Visa is suitable for short-term visits, the Canada Visit Visa, also known as the Temporary Resident Permit (TRP), is intended for individuals who need to stay in Canada for a longer duration, typically for purposes such as business meetings, attending conferences, or extended family visits.
Applying for a Canada Visit Visa entails a similar process to the Tourist Visa, with applicants required to submit documentation demonstrating the purpose of their visit, ties to their home country, and means of support during their stay in Canada. Depending on the nature of the visit, additional documents, such as letters of invitation or business contacts, may be necessary to support the application.
Unlike the Tourist Visa, which has a maximum validity of six months, the Canada Visit Visa can be issued for a longer duration, depending on the circumstances of the visit and the discretion of the immigration authorities. It's essential for visitors to adhere to the conditions of their visa and depart Canada before the expiry date to avoid any immigration issues.
Tips for a Successful Application:
Plan Ahead: Begin the visa application process well in advance of your intended travel date to allow ample time for processing and any additional requirements.
Provide Accurate Information: Ensure all information provided in the visa application is accurate and supported by relevant documentation to avoid delays or rejection.
Demonstrate Purpose of Visit: Clearly articulate the purpose of your visit to Canada and provide evidence to support your intentions, whether it's tourism, family visitation, or business engagements.
Financial Preparedness: Demonstrate sufficient funds to cover your expenses during your stay in Canada, including accommodation, transportation, and daily expenses.
Seek Professional Assistance: If you're unsure about the visa application process or require guidance, consider seeking assistance from immigration consultants or legal experts specializing in Canadian immigration law.
Conclusion: Embarking on a journey to Canada is an exhilarating prospect, offering a myriad of experiences for travelers to cherish. Whether you're planning a leisurely vacation or a business trip, understanding the nuances of Canada's tourist and visit visas is essential for a seamless travel experience. By following the guidelines outlined in this comprehensive guide, you can navigate the visa application process with confidence, unlocking the gateway to Canada's enchanting landscapes and vibrant culture.
